1.How do i backup the playlist created using HTC Audio Manager...
2. What is the easiest way to create a plylist for audio manager.. i know we can use WMP's playlist but some playlist just does not show up ...
I'd love to know this as well.
Most of the "answers" I've seen take the form of "just use [some other audio player]." I like the music tab and HTC Audio Manager just fine and don't really want to install something else.
The biggest problem is that I have several extensive playlists that I need to transfer from my 6.1 ROM to the new 6.5 one. Simply copying the AudioManager_Eng.vol seems to work in that the playlists show up. However, nothing will actually play (whether from a playlist or All Music or whatever). It works fine if the manager searches for and finds all the music files as is normal with a hard reset, but that means I have to build the playlists from scratch.
It would be really great if there were some way to backup/restore or export/import HTC Audio Manager playlists.

Bump!
I need to know this as well. Having had a problem recently with Sprite Backup after flashing a new ROM, I lost all my playlists. As I have well over 10gb of music on the SD card, it has been a very painful process recreating them.
I now want a way of saving them to avoid the same problem in future.
Any ideas where they are stored, or how to back them up? Please?

HTC audio manager / playlists
Yes, the playlistmanager (playlistmgr-v0.7.7.1.cab) works. Its a solution for an annoying problem.
Be sure to save the playlist in the tab "HTC audio-manager" and after saving a soft reset is necessary. The Audiomanager scans and finds the playlist then.
Mediaplayer playlists (asx) are also recognized but the playlist stays empty and there's no playback.
According posts in a lot of fora the problems with the HTC Audio Manager occurs on many models and already last a very long while.
Its customer disdain to neglect that. Mind.....reputation comes by foot and leaves by horse

I tried this, but it doesn't find any Playlists created within HTC Audio Manager - has anyone else go this to work? Or has anyone found a way of finding / amending / copying playlists generated in HTC Audio Manager?

Just been syncing some music to my TP2 and, rather annoyingly, the HTC music player will not play in track number order!!
If I use windows media player, the tracks play in their correct order.
Anyone else seen this - or got a solution??
Are you using .m4a (AAC) files from iTunes? If so, my Touch Pro (raphael) does exactly the same thing. I find it so annoying too. Real shame to hear that HTC still can't even get this one simple thing right. Search the forums, there are various posts about it here and there, though as yet I don't think anyone has worked out a way around the problem - do have a look for yourself though as I gave up searching a few months ago ; )
If you use MP3 files, they will appear in track order...
Come on HTC - this is terrible!
My source music is wma lossless, and the sync process transcodes it into 192K WMA files on the phone.
Can`t believe this is a long standing bug!! V poor!!
just disavble any crappy "transcoding" in activesync - you don't need it.

I cant do that - my source files are *lossless* - that means file sizes of around 40mb per track!!!!

I have the same problem. I'm use the same songs from my fuze and the fuze loaded them right
anyone found a fix for this yet?
My source files are also lossless wma and the sync transcodes them to 128kb/s wma and I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to convince some HTC tech support guy that this is actually happening. I'm about ready to pull my hair out, this guy will not admit even the possibility of this happening. He keeps coming up with yet another thing to try or another reason that it is my fault.
I'm OK with the occasional bug in SW. Just as long as the company acknowledges it and works to fix it but when they go to this much trouble to avoid even acknowledging it ...
S
i had been looking for a fix to this issue for a very long time, until i found out that the problem is caused (in my case) by
1) windows media player not saving the track numbers correctly into the files
2) touch flow only looking in the "right" place for the track information, which is not the place where wm player stores it
my solution:
1) download mp3tag (freeware app)
2) put all tracks of album you want to fix into the program
3) select all tracks and re-save the tag information (you don't have to change anything, the program just saves the information that is in the audio file "somewhere" into the right place)
4) place the fixed files on your phone again
easy fix....use coreplayer
I never liked the way WMP or the native media player handled files, etc. Coreplayer has been such a better experience!
I used Windows media player to sync music to the default storage card location which is "my device\storage card\music". When I go to the HTC music Icon it starts searching for music and never finds any. The songs are mp3.
When I first got the TP2, I transfered a few files to the phone prior to getting a microSD card. When I went to the HTC music icon at that time it didn't have any problem finding the music.
What is the solution?
Thanks.
Anybody - need help on this.
Try delete everything (files and folders) under this folder
My Device\Application data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\
(if you have trouble removing the content, reboot your device first)

Thanks for the reply. I tried the following and it worked:
I used Advanced Configuration Manager to change the default location to "\Storage Card\Music".
I deleted the music in the Music folder on my main storage and when I touched the touchflo Audio tab it said searching. I opened up library and when I clicked all songs they started to appear. After I did that, all was good.
yeah i don't like the sync option with windows media player.
i have a question though: how do you keep the music playing when the screen is off? i like to keep my phone in the case & i want to play music thru the speaker but i don't want the screen on.
wtf? double post? how?
my question is: How do you get it to change the artwork? I have the same picture appearing for every song, even though it is a different artist. Why does that happen?

Glad to know that works too
I recently changed my music folder's location (also to Storage card\Music) and Audio Manager refused to refresh. Deleting the content of AudioManager_Eng resolved the issue very well for me without resorting to Advanced Configuration (which I haven't installed)

Do you have to do this step every time you add new music to the phone so TF3D knows to re-index the music folder?
I use Cubed music player mainly for my music, but today I found that all of my music tracks were duplicated (or triplicated, if that is a word!). I checked with the connected music player as well, and even there there were multiple listings. However, only one track will play.
I then moved all the tracks to my HDD but the listings were still there, and wouldn't play. I tried to search for playlists but could not find any. Also, if I delete any (fake) file using the connected player, the main track gets automatically deleted from the SD.
I could transfer all the files again to my HDD and delete all the files using the connected player, but then I have to do this for hundreds of songs as I can delete only one file at once. I searched and found this to be quite common problem, but there were no solutions! Can anyone please help me with this? I am going bonkers!
Getty going into settings-applications, manage applications, then select' media storage' and clear data.
Thanks but no thanks I went to manage applications settings screen but there was no 'media storage' to clear data. Is there anything else that I can try?
Should have said to make sure you look in the 'all' tab in manage applications, the default view is only ' downloaded'.
There are no tabs at all in the screen!! I am running on stock eclair.

The same problem happened to me, I even got so desperate I deleted all of my music in my SD card, but the crappy Connect Music Player doesn't give you an option to at least scan your library, right?
This happened to me when I tried using WinAMP on my phone, I guess there's something wrong with using 3rd party apps. -shrug-
I tried a lot of "scan media" apps from the market, but none of them worked for me. Check those out, maybe that can work for you.
In the end, I did a factory reset and that solved my problem.

Use the app button, first on the left.
Sent from my MB525
@psixda: Which app button? There is no app button! Is it possible for you to help me with some screenshots?
@Zinshin: I want to avoid that path if I can
If you don't have a way to see all your applications in 'manage applications', I think you have a problem or you have gone into a different menu.
Problem Solved!
@superfastmonkey: Thanks for all your help, but sadly it did not work as I am still looking for that tab! However, I found a solution:
I had another MicroSD card which I swapped in the current one. Voila, the dummy playlist was not there. But when I inserted the original card, it came back. So the problem is with the card, right? I simply backed up all the folders to my HDD and formatted the card. (NOTE: The copied size was different; I guess there was some problem in the card as hidden files options was checked). Anyways, after formatting, I copied everything back and lo and behold, everything works fine and I won't go insane anymore over this!
If you have Eclair, in manage aplications there are no tabs.
You have to push the menu button (bottom-left, obviously), and there must be an option like "view" or something similar. In there should be "All".
"Media Storage" could be written in your language. In my spanish phone, it is "Almacenamiento de medios".
Good luck!

Nah.. it's not there. If I hold down the menu button, I get two options:
1. Sort
- by size
- a to z
2. Filter
- All
- Running
- Downloaded
Anyways, does not matter now. As I said, problem solved
EDIT: Now it struck me.. All!!
hi there,
There's something that's bugging me lately.
With any music player (stock, meridian, ecc) when i go to "all songs" (or i think it's called "tracks" on stock player) it only shows a half dozen files, as opposed to the 400 there should have been.
Funny thing is that when i explore with those music players inside the folders, the files are all there and magically from that point on, they appear in the "all songs" section and they play fine, but looking better, when i explore the sd card, it says "refresh to scan media" under each previously invisible file.
Every time i reboot the phone those files became invisible again and it's kinda annoying... anybody has some ideas?
Is there any difference in the music files? What format are they in? Maybe the scanner doesn't scan certain formats automatically. Just a guess though.
thank you for the answer, however, the issue disappeared. Don't know if that's what healed my phone, however i went exploring with ESfile explorer and found a rather useles file called "nomedia" with no extension and no format which appeared in the music folder. After that everything went back to normal.
I forgot to say that i recently bought a 16gg class 4 sd card and almost thought to call for a replacement... but things are working now!

.nomedia files are there to tell the default android media scanner to ignore that folder. It's used so sound and picture files from apps and games don't show up in media players. That was were your problem was
Hello Forum!! My wife has the T989 and she is running Jedi Knight 6 presently. The phone has the amazon mp3 player app, and we noticed that it makes duplicate copies of the music files. Can someone please explain to me why this happens, and also give me a solution to correct they problem. Thanks guys
The Media Storage gets confused when you flash a new ROM. Go to your apps through settings, and look for "Media Storage" under "ALL". Force stop it, and then clear data. It will take a bit to rebuild the music library once you open your music player, but once it does you won't have any duplicates anymore.
I was having the same issues with my pictures stored on the memory card. doubles, triples, even quadruplicate files showing as duplicated, but the "duplicates" were broken files that couldn't be viewed, and did not exist when the folder was browsed from the PC with USB storage turned on. Bobbyphoenix's recommendation fixed all that! Thx a mil. Been having this problem since I got the phone..
