NOTE: THis is for GSM phones only not for CDMA
Hey guys,
I modified this Cab for me and my friend to start android by pressing the PTT button, yea we are lazy but I figure some of you guys might want try it out also .
All it is the RhodiumKbdControl_GSM.CAB with the Keys already mapped Just Double click button and you’re good to go.
I made one for the RHODIUM but since you guys don't have a PTT button i mapped it to the Mute button on the back, just click it twice and your good to go
Also this is desing to work for Reefermattness cab(Path:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Project Android.lnk)
Thanks to tarkim: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240
for creating this app.
Instrucstions:
Just Double click the button to launch
Added AndroidlaunchMOD.zip File wich contais 1click/2click/LongPress option for the Tilt2 PTT button. Also added 2click/LongPress for TP2, Just unzip and install the one you would like to use.
Note: Did not add a 1click for the Tp2 version because its mapped to the Speaker mute and did not want to overwrite it..
Requirements:
- .NET CF 2.0
Installing:
- Install SdkCerts.cab (if you dont already have it)
-Tilt2PTTAndroid.cab or RhodMuteandroidMap.cab
- Soft reset
Thanks. I'm totally gonna use this!
Just worried about accidentaly pressing it lol.
Nice, good thinking bud. Even if you double click on accident if its linked to my app you still can just close it without launching Haret.

got it after my xams as birthday gift....sold magician quite a time ago.now running black 4 and the ok button is really irritating me .....plz help
There are a number of threads about remapping the ok button. However, I've not seen any about the press and hold.
AE Button Plus is the best app I know/knew of for remapping. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work I'm afraid. Speak to the author of the app specifically to see if it's a known issue.
V
try handy switcher v3.0, it works for me
Dear Vijay555,
glad to see you somewhere in hermes forum, about ok button mapping, i know you already give us VJOkButt. your tools is my choice.
is it possible to write a tini app that simulate the click at the top corner x button so it does close running app via HTC-xbutton, and we safe to close everything phone,activesync..? or this is useless?
thanks Vijay
VJOkButt already has a mode to emulate clicking the top right close button I think -
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJOkButt
-justclick
simply click the existing ok button (for compatibility with other task managers)
Click to collapse
VJOkButt has code built in to not close various important apps that would crash the system. But closing things like the phone is possible,
-phclose
will force the phone to close, not minimise, to save extra memory (but will cause minor incompatibility with dialing from contacts - reload with VJTogglePhone or launching cprog.exe)

Go on www.smartphone-freeware.com,unfortunatelly I cannot remember the name of the app,but I know i have seen it there a couple days ago.Dont know if it is exactly what u are looking for but it worths a try, right?
Found it:http://www.smartphone-freeware.com/download-appcloser-v0-1.html
Thanks
Perfect tomiglio, thank you. I installed the appcloser and so far it works for my needs.
FYI, for others who might want to try this app I couldn't get it to work until I rebooted.
mikey did a little write up a while back

After trying this app for several days, it doesn't really work. It seems like it worked at first, but does not seem to work any more. Any other suggestion? Perhaps a script running against CeleTask that does the same thing? Is this possible?

Don't normally answer myself going to blaim it on 7" screen
If you open up CeleTask and hover over the ones u want to keep running and pess Menu\Action\Exclude so you have done this for both now they will not show up in CeleTask Tasks.
If you want to show them again Menu\Options\Show Exclude if you also want to say add them back as they were before you just press exclude on them again and they will show in the list.
Hope this helps.

Would be nice to be able to have a hard key for the camera. I always thought I just had to have a front facing camera. But I hardly ever use it. Quality to low for me. I'd pay sum good $ for a way to do this. Is it even possible
seconded. Asked for this awhile ago from the guy that was making all those sweet zip mods but i guess he never figured it out.

Here you go bud, unzip and push the file inside to /system/usr/keylayout and enjoy having Volume Up or Search key as a camera button! Should work on any ROM. Please note these files are NOT signed, if someone would like to sign them for me that would be great!

So is this a simple copy and paste or you do mean push it with adb

Well if you have Root Explorer, you can copy paste, but you need to adb push it if not. Just run
Code:
adb remount
adb push /system/usr/keylayout/
adb reboot

Yes you do lose the function of them, but some people don't care, but for the ones that do i added the search button one, because i know lots of people don't use/want it.
Here try these.
retro camera app in the market lets you do this but it doesn't let you take full 8mp pictures... maybe you could pull that apart and see how its done then we could possibly see about making a new camera app that allows the larger images? just a thought
Bmx I tried the second one you posted. It does the same to the buttons. After reboot they won't work. It does do Sumpin tho , when I press volume up it makes the center frame turn blue like its gonna do the auto focus thing but then nuthin happens. I appreciate your help

When I enter adb recount ,it says access denied. Crapola. I want ,need this tweak as me and the misses are always snapping self portraits of each other
Will this work on stock units at all?
Hi,
--JPU version--
i modded the Camera.apk a bit.
Changes:
-take Pictures with pressing power button.
-Take pictures even if your battery is at 2%
You can apply it with my SGS Tools app or push it manually to /system or with Muspelheim (http://softdevs.wordpress.com/muspelheim/)
If you are not on JPU or newer, choose Camera_old.apk !
See the code changes here
Changelog:
Version 4:
-based on jpu
-exif data correct again
Version 3:
-focus before taking picture when using power key (not sure about it)
Version 2.
-use the power key instead of volume keys
Version 1
-initial release
Wow looks awesome, will try it! thanks

No point in Upgrade Stock Apps is changing my System.
Edit: Stupid. I forgot the checkbox.

No everything works. Was my error, your app is working. The hacked cam is really nice.
Some suggestion for hacked gallery3d: enable autorotation at start and disable on exit.
Great work! Was searching earlier this week for an hack/app that would use the power button als capture button but could only find a very old thread about this on XDA.
Wondering why someone didn't attempted this before, it seems so natural. Samsung should have made this the default behavior in the first place, locking the camera with the power button caused pain when I accidentally pressed it the first time I got my SGS and it wouldn't respond..

hi all,
i've had my defy a couple of months now and i'm loving it.
just about the only thing i dislike about it is, i often accidently press the search key on the bottom right of the phone as i normally hold it with my right hand.
is there any way to disable the key? i know there's no inbuild way of doing it, so i guess we'd be looking at a hack.
i never use it, so wouldn't miss it at all.

If your phone has rooted, you can uninstall or remove the GoogleQuickSearchBox from the system/app. It helps.
If you are not sure how to do it, send me a PM.

Hm. It should work globally not just on the home screen. Look around in you system/app and if you find a QuickSearchBox.apk remove it as well!
