Hi there
I am a new one in the Android world.
What I would like to ask you all is whether there is an app or something else in order to change my weather source which is the accuweather.com which came preloaded.
Accuweather is crap as far as the Greece's weather is concerned. Could I do something to change is to gismeteo or meteo or freemeteo?
On my previous HTC Touch Mobile device is was piece of cake to change weather sources to my preferences.
Please help!
Thank you all

"Accuweather is crap"
I think his issue is with where the weather data comes from, not the app itself.

ah ok, wasn't aware that is what htc used
Accuweather weather forecasts are not accurate nor reliable at all as fas as the greece is concerned. So i want to change, swap to a domestic weather source such as meteo.gr or freemeteo.gr
please advise if this is applicable or not.
Thank you
Does it use Accuweather? The reason I ask is that on my phone the HTC weather app always is blank with the message no data available. I work in another town and get weather data for that location. I have just been on the accuweather website and they have data on there for my home town.
All other weather widgets provide the weather for my home town, just wish that the HTC one did.

Try this few options:
- Turn on GPS (Make sure you can see the clear sky)
- Manually set your location to show, like your hometown name, instead of current location.

I will give that a try tonight - Thanks
No that didn't work - just got city not found. Does anybody know for sure who the weather provider is?

It is accuweather. If you go in the weather app, you can click something that takes you to their website; my phone isn't on hand right now, but I remember doing that once.

Hi,
Got a simple question.
In my calendar on the daily view there is a display that looks suspiciusly like the weather app. At the moment it shows London, I guess as a default. I have changed my weather app to show my locations and not London but this one is still there.
Any ideas where the location for this is set and how to change it?
Could this be the app that is accessing peoples data connection when everything else is switched off????
Cheers
the calendar weather is using the place which is set as your actual city in the CLOCK settings, not the city of the weather app.

Thank you Vogtlaender, Now, the million dollar question, is there any way to change it ???
sure, why not? tap on the main clock at homescreen and add the city you like and switch to it, now the calendarweather shows the new city.

yup, you have to make sure that the city you want displayed first is the "local" city in your clock, if not, just rearrange the cities.
many thanks!!! I had to do a hard reset last night and lost this function. Now if I could only get the weather to show back on the home screen under the appointments...Thanks again! Worked like a charm.
I have the stand htc weather app, i was one of the first to get the htc desire a fair number of weeks ago now, and i have been in birmingham uk for a while, with the weather app on the main screen ( the joint widget with the clock) fine.
However i recently came back to uni in Leicester, and the weather will not download, just say its unavailable. I can add Leicester as a location on he weather and that loads fine, but "under current location" weather tab will not load.
Any suggustions? I hope i explained myself clearly .

This ia a known issue. Try adding your city and then in the widget options pick that city instead of the current location and see if that works. You could also try downloading the Weather Bug app, its accurate and doesn't use as much battery power as the htc widget.
Thanks for advicing.
Basically i want to keep the main htc clock, with the weather app joint so when i unlock the phone i get the nice weather animations. However i cant see the htc clock on my widget list anymore so i cant add it or change settings etc..
I can add another seperate weather widget but looks ugly i think.
Hope htc get a fix soon!
A fix,
Just been fiddling about with the phone and found a fix for my problem.
You have to remove the htc clock, then go to add > widgets > clock (htc) > then click the clock with the weather > then you get settings of where you want weather to be from > add city> where you are.
This is ok if i dont move around much, which i do, so i just had to save this as a seperate profile, and i can swop profiles when i move around to make weatehr current location.
simple.
Hope this helps
Hey. Sorry if this has been covered before but I don't have access to a pc right now. For some reason my phone is only showing the location as United Kingdom when looking at the weather. It used to show my location but has been like this for a few days now. What's going on and how do I fix it?
Thanks, Rik

exactly the same thing happened to my phone after the last OTA update ...
it used to know exactly where i was and now shows United Kingdom for most places. grrrr.
Try removing the widget and re-installing. Try syncing and unsyncing it repeatedly from the widget. Use GPS for location to get it going again. Worked for me.
then where can i download the original weather widget?
Mine has started doing it at my home since orange uk messed network up due to merger but when i go to other areas its fine.
I wonder if it doesnt work where orange uk are messing.

same here on my phone, but i'm on 3
The weather combined with clock widget is on widgets under HTC clocks
There is a big thread on this over at Android forums. It would appear that this issue has pooped up in the last few days. The weather widget shows current location as United Kingdom, note that if you travel to a different area with the phone, most (including me) report that the new current location is reported correctly, as soon as you get home, it reverts to reporting "united kingdom" again. Beats me as to why it does this.

press "+" symbol, widgets-get more htc widgets, i guess
Mine started doing this recently as well. What I have done as a temp fix, is to manually add my city location.
Open up the weather app from the widget, and select the + in the bottom right of the screen. From here you can search for, and manually add your location, and delete all the locations you don't need.
Its not ideal as you'll have to add locations as you go there, but if like me you rarely travel outside your city, its better than having the generic uk weather.

Hello everyone,
I'm using Android Revolution 6.3.2, S-Eng off a.s.o.
I am trying to add a custom weather location, but I don't know which database to edit in WPDB.zip. I tried to add the location to WP_040EHUN, WP_0407GER and WP_0409WWE so far without success, my phone won't find the new location, which is in Hungary btw. Accuweather.com shows it and all fields I added in the database seem correct, and yet nothing.
Also, does the clock/weather widget only work with current location setting? Because as soon as I disable current location, it doesn't show the weather anymore.
The Weather application still shows and updates the location even after I turn off current location, yet it doesn't show it in the list.
The News & Weather application does the same as the Clock/Weather widget (if current location is off, it doesn't show the weather, it says "no available location").
I suspect this has something to do with Sense rather then the ROM, but anyhow any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
You are right it is a sense issue. I got fed up of the sense weather widget and now use HD widgets or Beautiful widgets. You can make both of them look almost identical to sense and the location works perfectly.
It's quite an easy edit, its the wee one. Once in the db set your lat/long, and name it whatever you want. Then in the weather app and clock, select what you named it in the db.
I'll have a search for the info, and post the link.

But the whole point of it is to tell you the weather where you are at that moment. That edit is OK if your never leave your own backyard.

Yeah, but what if I don't want Google to know where I am at any given time? I mean, I'm not paranoid, don't have anything to hide either and I like Android, but I'm trying to let it invade my privacy as less as possible.
Is anyone else getting "Location is disabled by weather provider" message? Whenever I try and refresh my location it just says "New York" when in fact, I live in upstate NY. Anyone else?!
BTW I use Accuweather as my weather provider on Beautiful Widgets... and also, Google Now and everything else displays my correct location.

Click on the widget, go to settings, and look where it says "use alternate geocoder". Make sure it is checked. It might be in advanced settings.

Try Fancy Widgets, super customizable,, bunch of different weather providers, clock and weather themes can be changed seperately.

Geocoder is what weather service you pick to figure out your physical location, there all different, some don't show all small cities or towns, while others do. Fancy Widgets has the ability to use the weather channel for weather, and google for geocoder, or use weather channel as weather and weather channel for geocoder, and so forth. For me the weather channel geocoder finds smaller cities and towns that Accuweather does not.

To each his own, im not having any of the problems that your describing from beautiful widgets. Fancy widgets updates some cities that I never even knew existed.

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem with beautiful widgets since the last couple of days ("This location is "disable" for your weather provider."). This is definitely not related to geolcation because I'm not using location for my city.
The update works flawlessly if I select Weather Underground but I prefer Accuweather.
Any clues?
