I saw this cab once but after about 4 hours of searching I can not find it. It is a cab that lets you close the camera directly from the capture screen. If anyone has it can you point me in the right direction?

Is that something that's not present in later WM versions? I'm running 6.1, and I can close the camera right from the capture screen just by hitting the little menu icon (right below the "capture" button on the screen), and when I do that, I get the 3 option icons across the bottom, along with an "X" in the top right for closing the camera app...that doesn't appear for you?

My WM6.5 works the same way.
Here's a tip for anyone who cares...
I personally find hitting the "X" a bit troublesome because you first have to hit the menu icon to bring up the "X".
So, I use the Rhodium Keyboard Controller to map the Back hardware key to "Close active window" whenever the Camera application is active.
All I have to do to exit and close the Camera app is to hit the Back key...

As sirphunkee kindly noted above, I meant using the Back button on the face of the device.

I do the same but with a double tap of the end key. Easily my favorite feature of that software. To the OP though, the X shows up on the capture screen about 3-4 seconds after launching the camera (long hold on the PTT button with the RKC, love that software ), which actually closes the software instead of minimizing it like most other programs. At least on NRG roms anyway...
When I am in capture mode I have to push the little icon at the bottom that looks like a usb stick. Then the settings icons, the camera modes and somthing else comes up and then I get the X in the top corner.

I'm starting to get used to this new trackball (RollR), but it is definitely different than normal cursor pads on most devices.
It's OK outside of gameplay. I tried the new Raging Thunder racing game on my P3300, and while it plays just fine performance-wise, the RollR ball is much too sensitive to be used for this game.
I also find it a bit more difficult to scroll in PIE with the new trackball and outside clockwise/counterclockwise scroller.
How does everyone else feel about this new feature?
I feel like I could get used to it, but you dont need to use the mouse all the time. Does anyone know of a way to attach the mouse toggle program to a hardware button.
for me at the beggining the feel was not very good but when i used to it i think now is a very good suprise.i can do all the works just in one hand very easy even serfing internet
another thing that is excellent for me is the wifi connecting distance.now i can go also to my second floor of my apartment and have internet connection
without a problem and this is something i could not do with my qtek 9000
so far i,m very happy for the device.
*my english is not very good hope you understand me

Copy the file \Windows\MouseMode.exe and paste a shortcut in the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. Then go to Start - Settings - Buttons and set it on a hardware button
I'm definitely getting used to it after almost a week. Game playing is still a challenge with the sensitivity of this ball compared to a regular pad, though.

Thanks for the suggestion, but is there any way to skip that screen where you have to make an extra click. Its no so much a deal when activating the mouse, only when trying to turn it off.
What do you guys think of the scroll ring, or whatever the chrome part is called?
I really like using it to scroll through all of the messages in my inbox, or when browsing web pages, but it doesn't always work as expected. Some times it scrolls smoothly, and other times it jumps to the next link. Anybody figured this out?
If you go into HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCCPL\Applet8 you can change the value of CmdLine to SETMOUSEMODE and the icon in the cpl will start and stop with one press.

great my friend thanks a lot for that.....
now can you tell me how can we change the size of the cursor and put a smaller one?
To Dinario
I'am using it for 2 days and I agree with you. I don't find the wheel very useful and in fact I only use track ball with is more convenient with its 4 directions.
According to me, the wheel is only design for big jumps, and the trackball is more efficient for small jumps. But maybe in a few days we will take full control of this alien

I did that instead :
- I Created a shortcut "mousemode.lnk" into \windows\start\programs (for my french one it is "\windows\menu demarrer\programmes")
- I edited the shortcut mousemode.lnk as below : "\windows\mousemode.exe" SETMOUSEMODE
Now, I can quickly activate/deactivate the mouse mode by cliking the icon, and I still can edit the mouse settings in the control panel.
I can activate it with one click of the icon, but how do i do the same by clicking a hardware button. I've went into settings/buttons and assigned a key, but when i press it only takes you to the config page where you have check enable.
Has anyone any ideas please?
Thanks,
BPP
I hate exactly the same problem, if someone can help. Thanks

You must write inside the register
HKLM-software-microsoft-shell-keys
i.e. 40c1 then ab(default)
["\Windows\MouseMode.exe" SETMOUSEMODE] without the []
What registry program is used to do this?

Anyone knows how i can set rollr sensibility in "d-pad mode"?
does anybody know how to disable rollr on HTC P3300 by registry trick? I have some problems with it - sometimes it becomes mad and starts to scrolling the screen even when I am not touching it. It is absolutely impossible for me. Any help appreciated.
I thought I should share how I make use of the ring and the ball.
The wheel basically moves the highlighting position up and down on the screen (there is no left and right movement). When the mouse cursor is enabled, pressing the ball will mean pressing the location where the mouse pointer is pointing (not where highlighted). Hence, I am using a button-mapping software (AEBPlus) to get the benefits of both world:
- OK button becomes "enter"
- long pressing OK button becomes "close application"
- right softkey button becomes "move cursor to right"
- left softkey button becomes "move cursor to left"
- media key single press becomes left softkey
- comm manager key single press becomes right softkey
And, I have the mouse cursor always enabled. Generally moving the highlighting position by the wheel is easier than the mouse.
Hence, with this setup, I use the wheel most of the time to move the highlighting position to where I want and then I press the OK button to select it. When typing text, I use the right/left button to move around the typing position for editing, deletion, etc. I will use the mouse to point to those location where highlight can't go to, for instance, the input pad, or those icons at the top task bar ...
Therefore, it is now almost one-handed operation and I hardly need the stylus.
Cursor colours?
Anyone know how to change the colour/size of the arrow?
Didn't notice it till today, but my camera button (#5) isn't working? When you hit it, nothing happens.
I thought maybe it was a bug in the rom I'm using S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V1) so I flashed back to MRH_8.4_Sun Shower. Button still doesn't work, so I remapped it to Button #4 (Comm manager) and now when I hit Button #4, the camera comes up and I can see everything on the LCD screen but I still can't take a picture?? When I tap Button #4 to take a picture like you normally would with Button #5, nothing happens?? It doesn't take a picture?
Is there another way to take a picture from within the LSD screen while your viewing the shot you want to take? There is all kinds of adjustments for taking pictures on the LSD, but I don't see an actual button you could tap on the LCD to take a picture?
Dont know but...

If your camera button is broken, and you have mapped camera.exe to another button, cant you just take photos using the d-pad to operate the shutter?
The other thing you could look at is VJKeyPress from vijay555, as then you could set any hardware button to press the enter key and take a pic. I'm not sure how you would go about setting the same button to open the camera and open the shutter, but maybe a 3rd party app so long press opens camera, and short press takes photo.
happened to my Hermes too. I dropped it from my pocket and it does exactly what you say.
Just use the center button on the d-pad to take a picture.
My Camera Button don't work, too. So, I use the center button on the d-pad to take a picture, too.

I think your right. It's button 4. I moved it to the comm mgr button 3.
Low Memory!
I re-routed the camera to the comm mgr button #3. Now with the TouchFlo rom I'm getting a low memory error message and the camera won't load!
I'm going to switch roms and see what happens.
SUCCESS!!
I just installed a new version of the TouchFlo 2D rom. Still couldn't get button #4 to work, but after I re-routed it again to button #3 - YES! I have a camera again!! No error messages!
I really like this version of the TouchFlo 2D rom. Works great so far - no hard resets after 8 hours of use. AND my camera works with it without low memory error messages.
That's what I'm talking about!! (see signature below for version)
Thanx everyone!
Lets say you have your notes, opera browser and a e-mail message all open. Can you "minimize" them and switch between them. I tried, but it kept closing them. I my previous phone (htc fuze), there was a "home" button on the button that you could hit at any time and it would take you to the main screen, then you could click up on the taskbar at the top and choose what open app you want to go to.
Am I missing something here? How do you do it on this "better" phone.
Thanks.
Go to your Task Manager settings. In the "Button" tab, either select "End programs by tapping and holding "X"" or disable "Enable the "X" button to end running programs".
Or you can just press the Home/EndCall button and then switch to the application you want using the HTC Task Manager.
Personally, I copy the file "TaskMgf.lnk" from the "\Windows\" to "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\". And then I map the mute button to this link. So I just press the button when I want to switch between several opened applications.

Fails to install on my Tilt2 stock ROM (Installation failed). I tried from both the SD and system and I am running .NET 3.5
when you're in those programs, just hit the home botton to get out of it but minimize it. Then you can click on the top right of the screen which is the taskbar, and you see a list of your programs running so you can click on whichever one you want..
Search for a file called ALTTAB.exe.
It will pop u a small window and show an icon where you can click.
It works exactly as it does in Windows, when you press "Alt" + "Tab"

task facade looks cool but how much memory does it use?
i like to keep it simple. I use Spb's Alttab (attached) and have Rhodium Keyboard Controller map my PTT button to alttab.
so when ever i wanna switch apps, just tap the PTT button and icons of all open apps show up on the screen, then either tap on the icon i want to open it, or press the PTT button again for the selection to move over. works perfectly!

Yeah, you're right. It actually stays open although you don't see it in the taskbar.
Just wondering if anyone else has done this because it's pretty sweet, in my opinion. Using Keyboard Config you can remap the PTT (or any key) to both open the camera software and take the picture by mapping it to open "/Windows/camera.exe"
Anyone else do this? Did anyone perhaps find a nice simple way to flip the screen of a particular application around so the camera button would be on the top?

Yes, it works just fine with taking pictures on my AT&T Tilt2 with Tarkim's Rhodium controller. Simply have it set to "Run Program" and have the program set to "/Windows/camera.exe"
This will open the camera app when you press it and when you're in the camera app it takes a picture. It's entirely a convenience by HTC that trying to open the app when it's already open causes it to take a picture. This doesn't work for you?
i used to have it set to camera, but seeing as how i rarely use the camera, i have it set to "AltTab"
So when i have more than one app open, hit the ptt button and a box will pop up with all the apps open, then i can either tap on the one i want to switch to, or press the ptt button to go to the next app.
I had remapped the PTT on my old Fuze to the camera function. Big problem you'll find here is that you'll take a lot of pocket pics. On my tilt 2 I mapped it to voice dial.
got mine mapped to taskmanager, send recieve all, bluetooth toggle, and long press camera using rhodium kbcontroller. how do u find "alttab" switch i use it all the time on my pc but i didnt know it was possible on the phone? mind showing me the target?
After reading an article from WMPU, about the back button and task switcher, i did some cut and paste job, and this is what i've made...
A lot of ppl complaint that the right black bar(the one with an arrow icon) is wasting a lot of space. The first apps' jumplist will use this space.
(1st attachment)
Another apps' jumplist, was to bring the notification bar even further. In WP7, user have to tab on the top black bar to get some information about the battery and the signal strength. The jumplist(which holding recent apps), drop together with the battery or whatever indicators.
(2nd attachment)
perhaps it looks nicer in this form:
(3rd attachment)
however, i think this will "crash" the "in call notification" or what ever it called...
What do you think? do you think such jumplist is necessary?
What I wouldn't mind seeing is basically a list sorta like the existing list when you swipe left on the home screen that pops up when you double tap the back button. Each would have a X that you could tap to nuke the app entirely or you could tap on the icon/name of the app and jump to it.

I'd have to agree - my thoughts exactly Rusty!
When you said app jumplist I thought you meant a list like the contacts list but for apps. I thought the app list would get the same functionality as the other lists, but I haven't seen that to date.
why you need a "X" while these "recent" apps are not consuming your processor?

To take them off the list, so it doesn't become cluttered, if you want to actively manage it.

Not double-tap... hold. I want 2 taps to take me back twice.
On that note I think Voice should have been mapped to holding the Search button, not the Start button. There are better uses for the Start button.
I agree with the hold back button thing.
but task/app managers are flawed slighty if you have forgot and closed or not even opened that process yet.And its then another button to your start screen to open it again.I think a long hold takes you back to the start screen and the list shows like in picture one.best of both worlds.plus you could have a nice little animation of the list sliding in from the bottom like a train.
looks pretty neat. although if those icons were a tiny bit smaller you could line up 3 of the icons with one of the big icons. you have to have stuff lined up of else people like me will go mad
I personally love this idea.
