Get numbers in the top of the keyboard for TILT 2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

If you have a AT&T tilt 2 and want to have numbers on the top as in some previous htc devices, do the following changes:
Be sure that:
HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\XT9SupportMSSip has a value of 0
Change these two registry keys under:
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\layouts\e0010409
•Ime File: \windows\et9ime.dll --> Ime File: \windows\compime.dll
•Layout Text : ET9 IME --> Layout Text : COMP IME
Soft reset and you're done!

but you lose the features of hardware keyboard symbols, unless you can have it memorized.
A better method would just replace the keyboard with an original Touch Pro 2 like what many have done with the original TP, except this hardware change isn't every easy on the TP2.

I would love to change the tilt 2 keyboard to the regular tp2 keyboard with the numbers accross the top, but i cant see paying what the keyboard cost at this time. eventualy i will do it to all the tilt 2's in the house

True, this hint is for those who do remember where the symbols are assigned. Alternatively, symbols can be accessed using FN mode.

It's so stupid on AT&T's part to change the layout of the keyboard on the Tilt2, honestly who uses the number pad on the keyboard to dial phone numbers.
Can anyone tell me where to find the replacement keyboard for TP2?

Word Completion missing on T-Mobile TP2

I have an HTC Touch Pro2 from T-Mobile running WinMo 6.1. It seems that under Settings, Personal, Input, the "Word Completion" tab is missing between "Input Method" and "Options" that was there on my previous WinMo 5 device. Is this feature missing from WinMo 6.1 in general, or has it been disabled by T-Mo? if it's been disabled, is there a way to enable it?
yeah it's missing in my Tmo TP2 too. I do miss the auto correction feature that was on that tab.
edit : I did not reading the message right sorry

now will that enable the tab to change the settings in the Input settings or just enable the options? I want the word completion, but not the word suggestion.
tkali is right- they are one and the same. Word completion and word correction are both linked to disabling T9

Quick question about the reg edit. I havetriededitthe first valeu but it tells me access is denied. Is there something I am missing?
I made the registry edits mentioned in the other thread (copied below for reference) but I still don't have the missing Word Completion tab even after a soft reset.
From the other thread referenced above:
Diable eT9. Enable COMP IME. This is a registry edit.
Go to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\layouts\e001 0409
Edit: Ime File = \Windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME
Go to: HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9
Edit: XT9SupportMSSip= 0
That will bring you back to the good old word suggestion and dynamic auto completion.
yeah unfortunately it doesn't bring back the word completion tab, which i was hoping.
What exactly does it do then? I didn't notice any change.
it should enable it so that when you're typing, it'll give you 4 (changeable) suggested words as well as auto-correct some words. (type comming & it'll change to coming)
I like the auto-correct feature on the Tilt/MDA because you could type contractions without the apostrophe & the phone would auto-correct it for you. I hate the word suggestion & always had that turned off.
I don't know why they'd take this tab & feature out of the input settings/phone.
I'm still not getting any suggested words; I used to get them when using the Letter Recognizer (WinMo 5), but I don't get them with that or the QWERTY. I may have inadvertently set the # of words to suggest to 0; do you happen to know the registry setting for that?
I have a friend who has a WinMo 6.1 phone, but not from T-Mobile, and the Word Suggestion tab is visible. Seems there must be a setting for that somewhere that T-Mo disabled for some reason.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question, but I got Word Completion/Suggestion working just fine on my T-Mo Touch Pro 2 by pressing the XT9 button on the soft keyboard
Doesn't work while using the hardware keyboard though, which may be what you're asking about
yeah, we're talking about the function working with the hardware keyboard
Gotcha! Ignore me then
OK got the word completion to work but now I have no "space" instead I have ".com" there. Anyone have this problem?...Thanks
Does anyone have the factory settings?
I was actually referring to the on-screen input methods, not the slide-out keyboard. On my previous WinMo 5 device, the suggested words appeared regardless of which method I used - Letter Recognizer, QWERTY, etc. That's what was I looking for.
I also discovered what I did wrong - I had an "n" instead of an "m" in the name of the DLL. I corrected that, did a soft-reset and Viola! I have the suggested words now. It's hard to distinguish an "n" and "m" on that small screen.
The tab is still missing under Settings, Input - I would still like to have that visible if anyone figures out how to enable it.
Thanks for the help.
does anyone have the qwerty reg settings, now i no longer have that function all i have is regular keyboard or when qwerty is selected i have just numbers...thanks
Problem solved T-mo Word completion/no space bar
OK here is what I did on my T-mobile TP2 to get word completion working with the space bar (Mine (space bar) disappeared after I did the reg hack) I put these settings in and now I have word completion and the space bar back.
I went to
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\layouts\e001 0409
Edit: Ime File = \Windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME
Go to: HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9
Edit: XT9SupportMSSip= 0
Now on MY T-mo TP2 I have word Comp and a space bar also. Hope this helps someone...Tj
@TrekkerJmm does SYM on your hardware keyboard still work? (ALT + ,)

TP2 keyboard not standard Microsoft layout?

I use a third-party Asian IME (input method editor) to display Asian characters.
This IME used to work really well with other phones, but with TP2, some of the symbols don't come out well.
For example, Fn+H comes out as "\", not ";" , and Fn+J comes out as "/" not ":". The latter problem is very annoying, because it basically prevents entering web address with the sliding keyboard.
When I raised this issue with the developer, they said the IME has worked with almost every PDA-phone, including Touch Pro, but the non-Microsoft standard keyboard layout of Touch Pro2 is keeping it from working properly and there is nothing they can do about it.
Is it true that the keyboard layout of TP2 does not conform to some kind of Microsoft standard?
If so, is there any way to fix it?

T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 (TP2) Keyboard Layout

Nothing I found worked for me so I thought I'd share my solution to fix the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 keyboard layout.
The Keyboard and Home Key Fix (T-Mobile TP2).cab being passed around fixed the Alt/Shift and Home Key problems, but it didn't correctly modify the keyboard layout. It modified the following key:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD]
"LayoutID"=dword:00000213
"FirstCalibration"=dword:00000001
"CWSLayout"=dword:00000001
"CurLang"=dword:00000409
"3PartyIME"=dword:00000001
"TaskManVKey"=dword:0000002E
"ContMoreVKey"=dword:00000000
"ContLessVKey"=dword:00000000
"CalVKey"=dword:00000000
"DriverName"="KbdNopAll.dll"
In order to get the correct keyboard layout, you also need to modify this key:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles]
"07FF"="eT9.Rhodium.TMOUS.kmap.txt"
Mine was set to eT9.Rhodium.Cingular_US.kmap.txt. I included a copy of my eT9.Rhodium.TMOUS.kmap.txt in the attached ZIP file in case you don't have it or it was not included in the ROM you're using.
All you need to do it import the REG file, place the TXT file in the Windows directory, and soft reset. That should appropriately set the keyboard layout for the TMO TP2 and fix the Home Key from opening the Start Menu.
I don't know how to make CAB files so if anyone wants to put it all together in a CAB package, I'd appreciate that.
Thank you so much!!! I'll try to put this in a cab friendly version tonight.
This has all Reg edits from the Keyboard AND Home Key FIX.cab + eT9 reg edit with the T-mobile eT9 text file included. (In short everything from the above post, but in a cab) So I take no credit for this cab!!!!
I didn't know there was a problem with my keyboard layout (?)

I agree. I test the buttons of my TP2 after flashing, and they're all normal (no 'problems' with the layout).
Ahh...
But, I did notice you changing something with eT9. Isn't that the predictive text input? If so, I'm guessing this deals with being able to use the hardware keyboard with predictive text turned on (Tilt2 users have complained about not having the Tilt2 format when this is on).
Maybe I never noticed because I never turn on predictive text!

This does not change the et9 functionality. All this does is modify the keyboard layout.
If you flash a stock T-Mobile ROM or a ROM in which the chef has T-Mobile, the layout of your keyboard will probably not need to change.
This is for someone who flashes a non-stock ROM whose chef uses a different carrier than T-Mobile such as AT&T.
The AT&T version of the Rhodium, for example, uses a different keyboard layout than the T-Mobile Rhodium so a ROM cooked to support the AT&T keyboard will have a different layout than a ROM cooked to support the T-Mobile keyboard.

I do flash WWE ROMs (rarely a ROM built with T-Mobile ROMs). For example, I flash ValkyrieROMs, which is made by a chef all the way from Bangladesh, hence a WWE-chef, and he uses various base-ROMs.
My keyboard layout is always good. I'm using the cab attached.

Okay so the WWE keyboard layout is the same as the T-Mobile layout. If you use a ROM by a chef using the AT&T layout, you'll need more than just the Keyboard and Home Key Fix cab.
home to start button
how do i keep the startbutton?

I am missing something. I am using a ROM with the default of the AT&T keyboard. I have the T-Mobile US device. I have applied the cab file found here and verified manually that the registry edits are there. The text file is in the Windows directory and the phone has been soft reset. My caps and alt keys are correct, but the mapping of the top row is wrong. The ROM that I am using does not have Sense installed. Is there something else that I need to do? Thanks.
I did everything in this thread also and it didn't work. I found this thread forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4371350&postcount=6 and it works great... everything works great...

[Help] Change hardware keyboard key

Ok so Winmo supports having multiple hardware keyboards installed, lets say for instance 409 - english and 411 - japanese. I know you can switch between these two by pressing ctrl+shift or shift+ctrl, but on a lot of new HTC phones with touch only there is no way to do this bar installing an additional SIP.
So I have a few ideas I'm trying to resolve this, but don't know the answer to the following questions:
1) Is there a way to have winmo automatically call up a different keyboard when switching SIP?
2) Is there a way to reassign the switch keyboard hotkey to something more accessible on a touch only phone?
I realize you can only have one keyboard preload at a time and know the registry settings for that, but can't figure out how to change the toggle.
