Just recently got a Touch Pro 2 (t mobile, unlocked) and, being a previous Fuze owner, that I could install a cab (to the fuze) to force tv-out. Then, using the dongle and a cheap 3.5mm to video out cable, I could then use the tv out option as if I had actually purchased the video out cable. Is there such a cab for the touch pro 2? I loaded the enablevideoout.cab from fuze, however, while it does enable that option, no video comes out to the tv, even though I'm using the exact cable...
tv out doesnt work for me either. im not sure why. some people have it working though.
I have the AT&T Tilt 2 and purchased the Tilt video cable. The cable was inexpensive ($15 or so) and works perfectly. I select the TV Out under System and it works perfectly.

you can stream whatever is on your phone to a tv or moniter. it's a great tool for businessmen with presentations, or you could download and stream adult content .
So...is there a cab that would force tv out?
Is the $15 cable the only way to get it to work?
Is there anyone that actually uses this option!!???? I remember back with the fuze that TV out was all the rage...wha happen'????
i can get tv out on my fuze but not on the tilt 2.
i'm using the oem htc tv out cables on my sprint tp2. no hacks or tweaks needed, just plug it in and go. it also has a charging port on the side, so you can stream and charge at the same time. darrenwlsn1 has a thread at ppcgeeks where you can get them for $10 u.s. shipped.
if you have the dongle that came with the tp, check this out http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=91682&highlight=tv*
Thanks...seems as if it will be the blue wire that will meet its maker...

Sorry, telegraph. Since I was the guy the discovered the hack in the first place and have now graduated to a Touch Pro2, I can confirm without a doubt that the registry change the above mentioned cab implements won't make TV Out work with the ipod cables.
You'll either need to cut wires on the dongle or get the OEM TV Out cable for the TP2.
The TV-out option is THE ONLY reason why I got the Touch Pro 2 - here's why...
My in-dash car DVD/Nav system includes a "Video In" (and L, R audio in) jack that will display any video on it's 9" LCD screen, plus play any audio through my stereo system in the car.
Forget Flow TV or Cio digital TV services and subscriptions!
I just connected a Slingbox to my home Tivo TV system, bought the slingplayer app for the touch pro 2, got an unlimited data plan for my TP2, and connected my TP2 to my in-dash DVD system using the HTC video cable.....and now I can watch ANY cable channel I get at home LIVE, PLUS watch any Tivo show I recorded, in stereo, in my car! Soooo sweet Youtube videos look awesome too. Any app that runs on the TP2 can now appear in my dash's screen with full stereo audio.
XM/Sirius radio sucks with it's 64k bitrate quality! So, as a side bonus, both nanogroove and slacker radio apps for the TP2 sound like they use 96-128k bitrate so they sound excellent in the car. I drive around all day and listen to crystal-clear tunes for free, and can skip any I don't like instantly (using slacker radio) or call up ANY song using nanogroove!
Yay!!!!!!!
Sorry to sound like a guy finding his first chest hair, but a gentle squeeze on the dongle allowed it to ever so nicely open up, where I proceeded to cut zee blu wire...tv out works great-now, a question:
Is it just my dongle or are connections to the phone (via the mini usb) somewhat loose? A slight move (even with just headphones) causes static, I remember (fuze) that the connection was snug and the phone (even sideways) would still hold its own with regards to restricting movement.
and that, sirs, is a run on sentence.
Edit: When I do connect the phone to a tv, the screen is Portrait, and so are any movies I play (even though they should be playing landscape)...the only way I get them to turn correctly is by editing hklm/software/htc/h2w and changing a tv out value to 1...after unplugging the cable, I have to go back and change that same value to 0...
I'm sure i'm doing some extra unnecessary step...

Hey,
I'm curious as to whether or not you can hook up TV-out via the 3.5mm jack. Being that the only Touch Pro2 w/ the 3.5mm jack on the market right now's the Telus ver, I guess this questions directed at Telus Touch Pro2 users, so try it out, and let's know what haps.
Btw, I only ask because I TV-out w/ my Touch Pro via ExtUSB-to-3.5mm - to - iPod A/V out, and would like to know if I can look fwd to skippin' the mid man when (or if) the US CDMA Touch Pro2 ever comes out.
::bump::
Now that I know for sure that my CDMA carrier's ver of the Touch Pro2'll have a 3.5mm jack, I'd really like to know if the Telus 3.5mm jack'll do TV-out w/ an iPod TV-out.
'Any Telus users out there?
As the standard (non 3.5mm) needs the HTC USB cable for TV out, I expect the same cable will still be required, and the 3.5mm will be supplementary/duplicate audio only
Yes this is probably true, but someone could try it out easily enough, just in case

My sentiment exactly.
Easy enough as long as someone who reads this thread has a 3.5mm tv-out jack. Not everyone has one of those and a TP2
I can confirm the USB TV-Out cable from the TP1 works on the TP2, I do not have a 3.5mm TV-Out cable to try. I would bet a good deal of money on the fact that it is audio only.
I have tried the iPod cables and nothing is coming out to my TV the phone didn't do anything when i plugged it in CorePlayer and Windows Media but nothing so far I'm looking for my iPod right now to test the cable and will try more things to see if I'm doing something wrong but it looks like no for now

Try forcing TV-out w/ this reg file. 'Worked on the Touch Pro (Raphael).

No progress w/ this? C'mon, ppl, it's a simple test. :s
telus
Hi there ,
Telus user here.
I do have the Creative Vision M60gig TV out cable. (same as the I pod think so..)
It a 3.5mm jack with yellow video Red/White cable RCA .
I had to change the reg key to saw the TV out menu.
I did try to change the order of the color on the TV ( all combination possible)
not working at all
Cheer
I am using the Telus HTC Touch Pro 2
Ok, so I changed the registry to "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\H2W]
"TVOutCableIn", Changed the Value data to "1". I used CeRegistryEditor to do this.
Once I did this the screen showed: "choose a format", "pal" or "ntsc" like photo 1.
I then chose "ntsc". The screen then changed to "Video Out" and showed , "power point", "photos and videos", "internet", and "youtube". like photo 2.
I then hooked up my 3.5" video cable with Yellow, Red and White. and played a youtube video and it did not work. I also played a video from"photo's and videos" and that did not play. I changed the wires around and tested out all of them in different combination's and none of them worked.
I closed the program. Then went back to open it and it said the regular error, "TV out cable, optional accessory needed". I checked the registry and it went back to "0" instead of "1". I changed it back to "1" and the screen this time said "TV out" video standard. It showed all the pal versions etc. Like in photo 3. Then it went back to Video Out menu which showed , youtube, internet etc. Tried the cable again, failed!
Registry also reverted back. It seems it always defaults back to "0".
Either way the cable doesn't work.
ADDED:
1. I also tried it without the registy hack and it did not work.
2. Sound comes out of the yellow and white the red I suppose is the video but not 100%. (I do know the red and white are usually the audio and yellow is the video)

Try making the hardware connection first, then apply the reg edit. That's what I do on my Touch Pro. So, try in that order.
the same steps (ipod 3.5mm and h2w reg) to get this working on the touch pro dont work on my touch pro 2. somethings different and i cant figure it out. i thought may be video no longer comes out of the 3.5mm jack but the pin configuration is the same. there is either no video out on the device, which i doubt cause the settings for it are there on stock rom, or something just isnt right somewhere in the software.
Hello,
I got my Galaxy Nexus (GSM, Android 4.0.4 Stock, rooted) hooked up to my LCD Monitor via the Samsung MHL adaptor (HDMI port). My Plan was to use ist as a take-with-you-pc, so i got a Bluetooth Mouse and an BT Keyboard as well.
When i use the Browser or a text editor everything is working fine BUT if i watch a video on youtube(app) or a streaming site (Flash Player/HTML5) in full screen, it shows me the controls (pause, fast forward, search, back, home, ...) only the Phone and not on my LCD.
I am completly unable to control the Phone with my BT mouse, because i cant see the pointer on the LCD (it works on the phones screen)
Even if i pause the Video/open menue/... i cant do anything witch my BT devices besides clicking blind witch a chance of hitting the right button.
When i watch a video using the MX Player in Software mode, everything works.
It seems the "Issue" (probably by design) only occures via hardware decoding.
Is there any Fix for that?
I apologize for language mistakes...
I haven't tried it on 4.0.4, but this was the issue I reported to Google.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24784
But I'm glad to know that MX Player in software mode works. I'll check that out later on. Thanks!
I have sent the mouse and the HDMI cable back to the dealer (you can do this in Germany :-D ) and ordered a long cable. If you want to use MHL, I recommend you don't buy a mouse but a long cable.
Hey everybody,
I don't have my Fire TV (the launch in Germany is still 2.5 weeks away) but I do have a question.. at least temporarily I'd like to connect it to an older monitor of mine which only has DVI input (I don't own an actual TV at the moment.. well, a tube tv set for my SNES ). I do have an HDMI->DVI cable but I just realized that I won't get any sound this way.. and since the speaker I want to use don't have optical input I have to find another way to connect those. One option would be a digital-analog converter (like this one, for example: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Digi...-Audio-Converter-Adapter-DHTV/2032388430.html) but someone mentioned that it's possible that the Fire TV works with regular USB sound cards which would be cheaper and not require yet another power plug and a bunch of cables.
I realize it's not an optimal setup at all, bus as I said, it's temporary. Has anyone tried this or maybe have a cheap usb sound card lying around they'd be willing to test for me? Tried the search function but didn't get any results.
kind regards

I wouldn't even bother using an external DAC connected to the optical out if you re planning
to use an HDMI to DVI adapter. I, and a few others, have discovered out that the FireTV does
not support HDMI to DVI because of HDCP. Amazon video content will not display on the monitor
at all, and video from XBMC results in many dropped frames and video instability. You will also
not get any sound out of the optical. The only way to get around this is to find an HDMI splitter
or switch which will emulate HDCP, and that will cost.
Saying that, I would assume that the same would happen with USB audio (if supported), although
I have not tried it myself.
Thank you for the quick reply, it was just in time to cancel the order I placed for a cheap toslink-rca adapter
Will I at least be able to set up and tinker with the Fire TV? If I can't use it properly at my own place until I get an actual TV I thought I might give it to my mum for the time being, but I wanted to set it up first cause she probably won't be able to do that

Yes... it still makes a nice box to tinker with. That's what I did before
getting a HDMI switch to bypass the audio issue with DVI. You just
won't get any audio and video playback will be unstable to non-existent,
depending on the source. However, all the FTV menus will still display
fine, and so will games and other apps.
The only other thing to note is that since video will not display properly,
you will not see the opening video when you first activate your FTV:
you will get a blank screen. This made me think that I had issues with
the device and that it had crashed, but you really have to just wait through
it. However, I don't know what repercussions this may have on activating
your device if you are trying to avoid the automatic updates to non-rootable
firmware versions during initial setup.
I'd assume it's going to ship with new recent firmware, but thanks for the heads up, I'll set it up at work then, there I've got access to a display with HDMI input
edit:
Or I'll just block the firmware update thingie at home, following these instructions.
Any news on USB audio?
Did someone try XBMC and USB audio out? I have a pure Digi Amp and like to have volume control. I assume optical out is without volume control...
Cheers,
Andy
Hi,
My receiver has no hdmi, so I have audio put to it from tv. Sometimes I would like to listen to internet radio without having tv on, so direct connection to receiver would be great, even analog one. Do I need USB audio card or there are some other options? If yes, anyone uses something worth mentioning? Anyone tried USB cards on Shield?

I use an external USB dac. Works out of the box and mutes the hdmi sound output too so you will not be able to have it connected all the time for when you want the hdmi to output sound.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
That's worse, but maybe I can live with it, maybe I find one with power switch, thanks
I am using a HDMI video / audio splitter. Works well.
Best part it doesn't need to be powered separately.
Does audio go through hdmi and separately? Analog audio or digital? Or maybe can you post name of the splitter?
I have mine setup to do this through bluetooth, where with a combination of apps i simply press and hold 2 on my third party remote, and my shield connects to my bluetooth a2dp reciever which in turn is connected to my stereo speakers, i simply disconnect the bluetooth connection when i want the sound to go through the tv......which i had setup through tasker to disconnect when i long press 2 again, but i think i broke this messing around with this particular task .....that reminds me, i gotta get round to fixing this
I can do this without even having to turn the tv on or even having bluetooth on, as the remote is a RF 2.4gh/IR remote
To take it a step further, i could potentially create a scenario where i press or long press my chosen button and have the shield wake up > unlock display > turn on bluetooth > connect to a2dp > open media app > emulate media play.......and have my music playing without having to turn on the tv.......the remote having media control and volume control as standard........assuming the app supports the media standards i.e. youtube app doesnt
Apps used
Xposed
Xposed additions (can map the remote/mouse/keyboard buttons to something else or have it initiate chosen tasker task i.e. long press 2 initiates "speakers on" task)
Tasker + plugins
Anyway, thats another avenue

that's what i've been using since my Chromecast to send audio to my speaker bar. I just swapped the hdmi when i got the Shield.
has anyone managed to get 5.1 audio out of the shield via USB soundcard? I bought one but it seems that its sampling down to a stereo sound. I have set in settings 5.1 sound for USB.
I also bought a 7.1 xonar u7 usb dac but no output on surround channel only in left and right. I aready set the USB to 5.1 surround and tried all the video applications. Maybe the shield only supports usb pass through and PSM stereo.

USB Auidio Works with class compilant devices only, but not entirely sure what that means in this case.
What apps did you try and what audio/video source files did you used for your tests?

Same problem here, any progress since September?
im currently using this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LiNKFOR-Ex...8-1-spons&keywords=hdmi+audio+extractor&psc=1
I connect the toslink to my sound bar so i can chromecast my spotify from my google home and not have to have the tv on. the audio still passes through to the tv, there also is a 3.5mm jack you can switch to.
I use the Audioquest Dragonfly DAC and it sounds amazing. I combine it with the Jitterbug. It's a little pricey (90-100) but I'm running to studio monitors so it's easier to tell the difference in quality.
Hey all,
I have a 2012 Acura TL, it has a 720p screen from the factory. There's a mod called NavTool which adds an HDMI port to the stock screen. I just finished installing the module and I now have the new input. However, what's my best option to make a "smart car" type interface? So far I bought a chromecast and set that up, but I'm having major trouble screencasting my M8's screen using a hotspot on my phone. I have a ATT Hotspot which I used to test screen mirroring with, but it's not ideal.
The car has Bluetooth for audio and calls, and normally my phone would connect to this. I'm able to change songs using the wheel controls (forward/reverse/play/pause). With the NavTool addon, the HDMI audio gets routed through my car's AUX input, so when screen casting I need to switch inputs to AUX instead of BT. As far as I know there's no way to keep audio streamed via phone's bluetooth while screen casting.
So right now, what can I do? I have an HTC M8, but I'm thinking of upgrading to either the HTC 10, or the next larger variant of the Nexus. I don't have to stick with chromecast. I can switch to any system at all, I just need ideas as to what would be the best thing to do. I don't mind spending ~$100 to get this system working. I already spend $200 on the HDMI input. Please tell me your ideas, or if you've seen something which I can do, let me know! Thanks!
