How to flash stock vodafone rom via microsd - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I have a fault with my tp2 where it won't connect to the PC via USB. I want to put the stock vodafone rom on it as it's going back tomorrow for exchange/repair, but can't find a way to do this that doesn't involve USB. The vodafone ROM download I have is an exe file so I have no nbh file to put on my SD card.
Does anyone have any idea what to do?

use winrar and you can unzip the .exe, or open up the exe and there should be a prompt saying its un-packaging contents (or something along those lines). Then look in the folder where your exe is placed and there should be a folder created and in that folder is the .nbh. Now there will be 3 or so, copy the largest one and rename it to RHODIMG.nbh and put it on the root of your storage device. Then enter bootloader, (hold vol down while device is booting up) and follow the prompt.

by root do you mean program files

Root is the same level in your SD card that your program files and other main folders are at, put the file at the same level as those folders, not in any of them, and that's where it's required to be.

This worked a treat. Thanks very much. I never would have thought of trying to extract an exe file!!

I can't open .zip files on my phone

Hello everyone, here is my question there is a couple of cool apps but they are .zip folders and when i download them and put them in my phone it says "there is no application associated with this file. run the app first and then open this file inside the application". But i don't know how to run the app.
Please help me, it is driving me crazy!
Thank you
Perhaps if you could be more specific as to what kind of applications you are trying to install. You may need to install a driver in order to open said apps.
did you save the file to your storage card? if you did then open it up there first, then run it on your phone.
Did you download a .cab or a .zip file to begin with?? Sometimes your PC will identify a .cab file as a 'Compressed (Zipped) Folder'. (1) If you downloaded a .cab file, then just move it to your device or storage card, then execute it from there. (2) If you downloaded a .zip file, then you will need to extract (unzip) the file on the PC first, if it contains a .cab file then follow step 1 above.
Sometimes program files are zipped up for transport (e.g. an RUU packages), those files need to be extracted on the PC and then executed from there. Hope this helps!

stuck during rooting

Hi! all. i'm trying to root my desire which has a Bootrom of 0.80. i went to modaco website & downloaded the file to start rooting. but upon reading the instructions i couldn't understand the 3rd point below. after unziping the file, i can't find any file call 'update.zip'. Would appreciate help.
•Make your microSD card into a goldcard by following these instructions (it's a good idea to back up the contents of your card first!).
•Unzip the file you downloaded to a directory, then open a command prompt / terminal window at that directory.
•Copy the 'update.zip' file to your microSD. Do NOT rename it.

Try using the video guide on www.theunlocker.com!
I did'it and it works like a charm!
It duznt have to be called update.zip, just flash the zip how it is
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Here's fake flash, properly named update.zip, so it doesn't confuse you
Just put it in root folder of your goldcard and do it

When you are inserting your adb command as the instruction, your device is still connected with CHARGE ONLY mode,
To insert the .zip file, you need to change it DISK DRIVE mode, and your memory drive will be shown,
You can change it by showing your notification bar, or go to setting-connet to pc, and choose DISK DRIVE,
Put the zip in the root directory, and reboot to bootloader, the DHD will now flashing the rom,
Hopes this help,
BR
Or you may be able to do it from command line using adb.
adb push PD98img.zip /sdcard
I'm can't remember though there might be a limit on file size when pushing like that.

[Q] Problem with latest Android .cab file

Hello, I've recently uninstalled and wiped my SD card of Android. Now I'm trying to install it from the latest (01/23) cab file and I keep getting an installation error when running it on my phone. I've also tried to extract the cab file manually on my computer with 7-Zip, but I get decompression errors. And when I unrar the .rar file I get a completely flattened directory structure.
What am I doing wrong here?
Delete all the Android files and folders from your SD card. This means the Android, andboot, and any other Android related folders that may have been created by apps and such.
Copy everything that's left off of your SD card onto your computer.
Format the card to FAT32.
Put all the stuff back onto your SD card.
Reinstall XDAndroid.
I've never had luck with the cab. I think it has something to do with the size, and how the device handles cabs. For me, it has been easier to download the rar file, extract that on the desktop, and then copy over the andboot directory to your sdcard.
I usually create a staging location on the hard drive before copying it to the device. Doing this allows you to customize the files/configs: edit the startup.txt file on the desktop, replace the original rootfs with F22's new file that allows for keyboard mappings, etc. Then when it's all finished, simply copy the directory to the sdcard.

I tried this and it didn't work. Got an error half way through the install.
For pohket's suggestion, I'm limited to Linux tools, and unrar extracts a flat directory structure for me, so there isn't like an `andboot` or other such directories, just every file, which I don't know how to organize.
I ended up using an old release from November 1, 2010. It's been the most stable release I've used so far. (and also the only release I had saved on my computer)

I have the feeling the latest cab file was not working too well. In the end I used the rar files as well and extracted those.
the cab doesn't work!!!

I had the same problem with that cab, I did everything: erase, format, copy, download - many times from different computers...but doesn't work at all. You should download the RAR file and uncompress into the fat32 - SD card. Worked at the first time.
ps: this FRX04 2.2.1 is quite slower than the FRX03!!!
Also, it halts everytime!!! (in my rhodium 210).

Drives me CRAZY - Can not find right folder for my rom zip file.

On every other phone since 2000 years ago i ALWAYS could put in the rom zip file in download folder. And then start into recovery.
There i could find the download folder and point out any zip file to install.
But with this phone when i start into recover first it asks for password. Pressing cancel takes me further.
BUT...where are the folders one wonders!!!!. I can NOT find the download folder.
Entering sdcard folder only shows empty place.
I KNow that i have managed somehow...before .....to boot up into recovery and suddenly i can see all the ordinary folders where i have inserted the zip files. But i can not figure out what im doing different to have been able to see these folders. Can not point out the exact reason for not seeing it this time.
When phone is booted normaly. I choose filetransfer in windows and copy the files into the memory of the phone....in folder DOWNLOAD.
But as i said before...then when booting into recovery...this folder or any other folders that are seen under windows are not present at all.
What im a doing wrong? JUst want to place the rom file in a folder to be able to reflash the phone.
Sorry
My son protected the boot sequence with password. When removed it....i could see all the folders again.
