Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Update - ZTE N72 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi everyone!
I need some help. I saw an article at Gizmodo that explains how to flash HTC Touch phones with the new Windows Mobile 6.5. I've bought a ZTE N72 phone (aka TMN BlueBelt II) and I've already unlocked it, the phone already has WM 6.5 installed however it's heavily branded (themes and lots of custom software) from my original carrier, which makes the usage of some features rather annoying.
What I want to know is if a specific WM ROM update exists for this model if not, is it safe to update it with any other ROM?
I appreciate any help, thanks in advance!

Nothing..?

Hi
sorry for not helping with your issue...
what is the unlocking process?
thanks

I second the first request, and the 2 request!
Wht´s the unlocking process please

i dont know if this is possible ,i have blackmajik which is for the htc hermes, will this work on an mda pro?
Many thanks
Hi digigem,
You can try the link below. The ROM was "cooked" by member Laurentius26 and the link contains his latest version. I'm using one of his earlier versions and I find it really good.
Enjoy!
BTW, as far as I know ROMs are device specific. It is possible to adapt a ROM to work on a different device but its not easy.

AT&T/Cingular 8525 Mobile 6

Hi, I am not that familiar with windows mobile pocket pcs, i am about to buy a cingular 8525 / at&t 8525, one of the two and i don't know if it will be locked or unlocked ( i will go by the best deal )... if its locked, can I upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6 and in the process of upgrading it and having a new rom, will it automatically get unlocked?
I am not sure but i believe that there is a rom, a radio and a bootloader, my question is that out of these three, which needs to be modified in order to unlock the phone? if its the rom... then i'm pretty sure upgrading it to mobile 6 will automatically unlock it...
if you can upgrade it mobile 6, then how? which rom do i need? do i need to change my bootloader to some universal edition, if so, is there any danger in doing that? how will the software distinguish between the hermes and the 8525? ( hermes has a 3g vga camera, 8525 does not )...
can someone please clarify?
Please visit WiKi page or read.....

MDA TOUCH PLUS - WM 6.1/6.5 Upgrade...?

Hi folks!
Sorry - I am a complete novice to ROM upgrades etc...
I have an MDA Touch Plus Mobile with T-Mobile, running Windows Mobile 6.0.
I want to upgrade to WM 6.1 or 6.5, however the HTC website suggest that my phone (via S/N number) is not valid for the 6.1 upgrade...
T-Mobile support is worse than pathetic and offer no advice at all...
Can anyone suggest if it's possible to get the upgrade for my phone and how I would go about it...?
( Remember I'm a novice to Rom upgrades!)
P.S.
Many thanks and aplogies to those guru's out there who have gone through this issue a million times with folk like me...
- As a Db Progress developer I can relate - Give me a Progress DB and I'm happy, give me a car with a broken Altenator and I pass....
Cheers
Ron
First install the Hard SPL boot loader, after that install a custom rom with wether wm6.1 or wm6.5.
Take a deep look http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=404 here.
Everything you need can be found THERE.
Check out the HardSPL thread and then start reading about custom roms.

Need Help for LG MS25 UPGRADE (Guayaquil-Ecuador)

Hello everyone, this is my first post, I have a LG MS25 and I'm new to all this, but I found that this model is similar to the LG KS20 and what would please help me is:
- Unlock the device
- Upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5
- Enable WIFI (KS20 model has WIFI and I think I read that there is possible)
I do not know the procedure, and much information confuses me, if someone can help me step by step and if possible in Spanish will be very grateful. I live in Guayaquil - Ecuador
Hi,
Welcome among us. You can actually go under WM 6.5 if using a NV2 unbranded. Testing the software available on the forum and if you do not succeed gives me a backup of your NV I would do the necessary. Otherwise the procedure is the same as for the KS20. By cons, there is no possibility to get the wifi, sorry.

Sorry, don't understand

[Q] Difference between ROMS

Hi
Can anyone please guide me. Im little confused here.
I have TP2 with Windows 6.1 with ROM version of 1.19.702.2 Date: 06/22/09
Now I want to update it to Windows 6.5 and latest ROM
Will directly installing from following link, will it install Windows 6.5 and update ROM to latest as well?
http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=250&cat=2&dl_id=913
Or should I have to first download and install from following link and then install above ROM too.

Those are the same thing, you can't install WM6.5 without flashing the whole ROM.
You want the first link you posted, if you want the latest update. The second link you posted is from 2009.
So from the ROM update from the 1st link it will also install Windows 6.5 on my mobile? or it will just update the ROM?
Updating the ROM is flashing Windows Mobile to your phone. Windows is not installed like it is on your PC to a hard-drive. It is 'flashed' into the ROM of your phone (along with other useful Apps and drivers). Flashing a different ROM will give you a different version or flavour of WM. (TP2 can run WM6.1, WM6.5 or WM6.5.x).
Who is your carrier? I know that T-Mobile has an official Windows Mobile v6.5 ROM available for their T-Mobile branded phones. So you may want to check with your carrier to see if they have one for you.
I did try the official Windows Mobile v6.5 ROM from T-Mobile and it was OK. But I had already been trying out various WM 6.5.x ROMs off of XDA before I tried out their official ROM.
To try out a customized ROM from here you'll have to do a few things first. If you are using a GSM TP2 (ATT, T-Mobile, etc) I'd advise going to the Touch Pro 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development page and read through a few posts first, specifically the thread Flashing your first GSM Rhodium ROM (for Noobs).
If you are using a CDMA TP2 (Verizon, Sprint) I'd recommend going to the Touch Pro 2 CDMA page for threads about ROMs for the CDMA TP2 and then reading the thread RhodiumW Hard-SPL Release.
Then don't hesitate to ask questions. There are plenty of people here on these forums that are willing to help.
As stated before this is very dependent on the type of device which you own so be careful when doing so. If you have a GSM (Att/T-mobile) device look in the upgrades section for that if you have a CDMA device (Sprint/Verizon) look in the upgrades section there. Read how to unlock and then you can flash a 6.5 or even 6.5.x ROM which is the latest in windows mobile. Be aware that flashing a ROM will wipe all your data it is not a simple upgrade procedure, you will need to get all your contacts, settings, apps, etc back on your device on your own so make sure you backup everything beforehand.
Hello
This is my first post so hope I am not out of line replying here.
I recently received my TP2 with Windows 6.1 with ROM version of 1.19.702.2 Date: 06/22/09. Also from Hong Kong.
I am thankful to find this thread and the great info here. But I have a similar situation with some additional questions.
Do I post the questions here?
If you want a stock windows without void warranty, you can from official website HTC download actuall ROM. You must write there you P/N so they know if the upgrade is for your TP2. If not, change country at their site and try again till you find the right ROM.
Example: i could not download till i didnt change country to czech republic.
If you dont mind to void warranty, go to developing section
