I've got a problem with headphones. When i plug in original headphones that was in pack with XDA Exec sound is good but when I plug in headphones from my MP3 player sound is bad and doesn't have bass and treble is too strong then. How to force normal headphones to work fine?
Try with another headphones, perhaps they have some damage

Do your normal headphones work fine with your mp3-player??
Yes, everything is good. Same as on sound card on my computer. Maybe I'll try use another but must borrow from friend because I tested on two I had in my home and effect was same on both.
I think it has to do with the quality of headphones you are using. Some, especially cheap ones, have tendency to 'lose' some sounds and accentuate wrong sounds which leads to distortion. I don't think the original headphones are that amazing, but it is possible that your mp3 ones are even worse.
Another thing is the program you use to play your music....
you succeed through earphones give voice commands?

Hi guys
I would know if there is solution for boost the audio with headphone connected at the phone
thanks
To me this is a major flaw of the defy so far. I can hardly listen to my music when I am walking outside and I really don't understand why the volume is so weak when using the headphone
get better headphones?
Hi, I'm using the Sennheiser CX 200 Street II (excellent price for the quality) and I never use more than half of the volume. So, good inear pieces (those with rubber tips) might help
PS: Please don't tell me you're using the stock headset! They might work for one or two calls but not for enjoying music.
PPS: Does anyone know a compatible headset adapter? I mean one with a built-in mic that allows you to use your own headphones without the need of a soldering iron
As far as I noticed with my girlfriend's ipod touch, she can use my headphones to make skype calls. I can only suspect that they work the other way around. (her headphones are far but I might use someone elses iphone headphones tomorrow)

The iPod/iPhone Headset works, as I read several times. Unfortunately, you can't use your own headphones with that headset. Know what I mean? I'm looking for something that provides a mic and a 3,5mm jack for headphones
€: Finally, found what I was looking for: http://cgi.ebay.de/e12i-Stereo-Head...812849?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f064f7f31 I hope the quality is not so poor.
I use the music app Poweramp. Apart from being the most comprehensive music app there is, it also has a built in software amplifier to boost volume. I highly recommend it, definitley an app worth paying for.

One of these days (I'll have to go buy a 3.5mm socket) I'm planning to give an old Nokia 3.5mm set of headphones a new life. I only have to study how the mic/button work (might be some different resistors involved).
I'll get back with a how to after I'm done.
Anyone try the ZaggSmartbuds for www.zagg.com they have a 3.5mm jack, inline mic, inline volume control(analog). i normally use my SD9-HD bluetooth headset when listening to music but sometimes I prefered to be wired. Have been considering the Zaggs real hard.
But exist some head phone with mic and noise reduction function all in one?

Well... the ZAGGsmartbuds, the iPhone inears, the bose headset, the V-Moda Vibe
II w/mic...
I have found this
http://cgi.ebay.it/ZAGG-SMARTBUDS-N...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item5d2d8b12e4
but I have read in the footer ad there is wrote this:
"Some non-US smartphones, such as the Samsung i9000, have a unique jack configuration that requires an adapter for use with the ZAGGsmartbuds."
So, for My Motorola Defy (France) could be some problem with this headphone??
thank's guys
We might have a different cable configuration at the jack, but we'll never know, if no one tries
PS: I'll tell you if the headset adapter that I ordered via eBay works for the european Defy and how it works.
I was more thinking of some kind of software solution to amplify/unlock the Defy's volume (I guess it is limited for health reasons).
The ones I found on the market just don't work.
I do not intend to buy a new headset as I use it 5-10 minutes a day at most.
Try the poweramp music player. It offers a graphic equalizer and the opportunity to amplify the volume. Remember: too much amplification results in bad sound.
Hello all.
only had a defy for a bit.
Its now on cm7 but even on stock I noticed this.
The audio quality is terrible from the audio Jack. No cracking or distorted just really really bad.
Has anyone else noticed this?
On the galaxy s we had voodoo sound ( but was alright stock) does the defy have anything like this?
Really hope I don't have to buy a mp3 player just for walking to work.
Thanks for any help.

It may depend on headset plug. Otherwise it should be excellent.
if the earphones r fine then check dsp manager...set everything to default ...uncheck basebooster ..no virtual room..etc...

Tried with work PC speakers and some other headphones its not as bad can listen to it. Maybe it just doesn't like Samsung headphones or its own boxed headphones.
Well as I only have low rider skull candy's I might have to get some good in ear ones

Haha solved seems its the Samsung headphones. If you press the button headphones by the mic audio is great let go all washed out. Right just need some new headphones.

My xperia play works fine. The sound from the speakers is good but when i connect the sony earphones that came with the phone the sound is very odd. Partly too quiet, partly some arrangements missing from the songs, difficult to describe - but anyway: not as it should be!
Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?
And on a different note: what kind of plug is the headphone? I wanted to try different headphones, but it appears its not the standard (?) 3,5mm plug. (as it always says "Das Zubehör wird nicht unterstützt" - this accessory is not supported)
I have a rooted (locked bootloader) 2.3.3 xperia play.
No idea what's going on. I always plug in my Audio Technica M50 headphones in my Play and they work like a charm! It should be standard 3,5mm because that's what I use. I know some people have problems with headphones and android phones in general. Don't know what causes it.
I've never actually used the sony headphones that came with my phone. I just use a pair of skull candy headphones and the sound is perfect. I would suggest trying a different pair of headphones with your phone and see if you still encounter the same problem.
yeah, i just tried using the headphones on my pc and there the sound is bad as well. But still, other headphones i tried with my phone didnt work at all (sennheiser, some headsets).
I just ordered another set of headphones with sony ericsson branding (for just 3,50€), maybe those actually work well.
It doesn't work with earphones with mic..

Does any1 know if you can use headphones with a mic and play pause button? I just got skullcandy heads phones with the play/pause/mic and I was bummed out at the poor sound quality, but the other ones work fine is it hardware?
Although I guess no-one is interested, just wanted to say that my problem has been solved.
I sent my xperia play in and it was repaired, it appears it was a hardware problem. Now i dont have any problems with any earphones i tried anymore!
When i used to have the Sony stock ROM some earphones that i bought weren't compatible with the phone, but since now im using a custom ROM CM7.2 i plugged in my earphones and all the sound was going through the ear pieces.. but when i started listening to music the sounds were sketchy and misplaced and lyrics sounded different.
Is their anyway to make my earphones compatible with my phone?
Its compatible with sony earphones only i guess i also tried samsungs bt it shows only no sound was there so try to buy sonys
Are these headphones or headsets? (headset is with mic).
Most headsets aren't compatible with the Sony Ericsson jack, though headphones should work fine
For headsets you mostly need Nokia adapter..
earphones... if you didnt read the title, the sounds goes through the earpieces but when i listen to music it scrambles and sounds are different
That's unusual. A regular headphone/earphone should have no problems no matter what phone. Have you tried with another pair?
This normally happens with incompatible headsets i.e. with in-line mics.
Yeh iv used the SE ones which work fine, but my ones that iv bought work but the sounds are messed up etc. and have no in-mic line
Hey team,
Has anyone else noticed how terrible the on board DAC is? It is the loudest piece of audio equipment I have ever heard. Just noticed it and can't unnotice it. When I swapped back to my 4th Gen ipod touch it sounded utterly incredible in comparison. I'm getting noise, strange squealing in both ears at around 5000hz when music is playing? Any fix for this one? I read a few posts and edited the mixer.xml file but it just crapped out all sound. Definitely not my headphones or an impedance issue, I have tried with multiple headphones.
I'm running Fulmics 6.1.
The sound of the G3 DAC also lacks a whole ton of power, even when compared to other cell phones. Not sure whats going on there, the clarity of the mids and highs are rather compromised. I even occasionally hear bass distorting on some tracks (it's not the tracks or the headphones).

I don't know, if that's the issue you're trying to solve, but for me it helped a lot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...ying-music-t2804065/post59601465#post59601465
I use to think the same but with a unusual trick everything seems fine now.
If ur headphones have a detachable cable plug first the cable to the jack without the headphones n in the status bar u will see a cable icon instead of the headphone one, now connect the headphones to the other end of the cable, I know is unusual but sounds change terrific.
If u don't have a detachable headphones the next is plugin ur headphones, make a call, u need answered to the other side (I make call to my cellphone company ) detach the headphones n reconnect again during the call (remember u have to be answered) n now u can end the call. Again the noise n hiss sounds go away after this, but u Need to do this Everytime u reboot the phone.

Okay, that sounds a bit strange, but I will give it a go. If it works, I might make a Tasker profile, so that it happens immediately. Surely this is a software problem right? Are you running marshmallow or what?
Gave it a try but there is still the problem. It only really happens after playing a track or during music playing, there is quite a lot of white noise in the signal behind the music too. Not terrible, but it is very prominent when comparing to better sources.
Not sure what the problem is but I'm going to try a different fix.
