Not receiving text messages since upgrade - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I upgraded to the new official 6.5 (sense 2.5) rom a few days ago and have since not been able to receive any text messages. I also put my sim card in other phones to test whether it was a network problem and I was able to receive messages.
If it helps, I am on the UK Vodafone network and the rom I downloaded was the European one. Since all the other settings work (internet, calls, etc), I assume the problem is something more deep rooted than the network configuration and possibly something to do with the compatibility of the rom on my version of the phone (unbranded European model).
Thanks in advanced for any suggestions. Otherwise i'll just have to downgrade again

My phone has big problem - "No SIM Card"

Hi,
I had an OTA firmware update about a week ago and all seemed fine. Then a couple of days ago, I started to lose reception... and was unable to make/recieve calls. Initially I thought it was a network issue, then I discovered my work phone (also on Orange) had perfectly good reception. I decided to change network settings (GSM-WCDMA) and no luck. Then I thought I will change SIM cards, and now I get "No SIM card in phone". The original sim card works fine in my work phone, but no SIM card works in my HTC Desire!
Im pretty certain it has something with that OTA firmware upgrade. Also, when switching the phone on it constantly asks me to reset the time.
Any ideas what I can do? The phone is unbranded from CPW.
Have you tried a hard-reset? I'm not sure of the exact procedure, but I'd try that first, or maybe reflash the de-branded ROM to it??
I know the Orange handsets that had been de-branded SIM-Locked the phone after being flashed OTA (search the forums and you'll see) and to get past this you needed to get an unlock code from htccodes (or another)...
Hope you get it working matey...
Orange and T-Mobile have just recently made a merger so all orange and T-Mobile phones are having issues with reception, as for your issues have you got a stock orange desire or are you using debranded desire? If your stock try rerooting using a goldcard and see if this helps any

[Q] Cannot switch to GSM only

Hey guys, since vodafone UK OTA Desire HD from 2.1 to 2.2.1, users cannot switch to GSM only anymore (this option is disappeared from the network mode). I noticed that not only Desire HD, but sumsong's 2.2.1 has the same situation as well.
Voda UK says that this issue would be fixed in the next release (2.3). Its been a loooooong wait and finally we got the leak 2.3 RUU. However, after tried all the custom ROM downloaded from xda, this problem still exist. I found that sumsong fixed the issue in their 2.3 rom already (says voda UK blog).
So.... does any one know which file should I modified to fix the "missing gsm only" problem?
Thank you.

I'm not too sure if there's a fix for this problem (seems to be another case of Network operators being too restrictive over phone functions). As a temporary measure, you could always type *#*#4636#*#* into your dialer (Special Testing Menu).
From there, if you go to Phone Information and scroll down to Set preferred network type, you can change the option from there. I believe by default this is WCDMA preferred, so its just a case of changing this to GSM only
Hope this helps
Thanks Ashley.
I know I can use *#*#4636#*#* to switch the network mode but its very annoying to do so every time. The funny thing is, the gsm mode appears if I put a SIM card from other country's carrier and roam the network via voda AU.
I suppose its a bug because voda claimed that the new galaxy S 2.3.3 rom fixed the issue though

That does seem a very strange bug. Did the SIM card in question that you have problems with come with the phone?
As it seems a compatibility issue between that specific SIM and the phone and I was wondering if its being detected as a 3G SIM? Are you able to achieve 3G connections?
Also, is the Network Type option greyed out in your phone settings, or completely missing?
It's a brand new SIM card and it works fine under old ROM (2.1). When I used the RUU_WWE_1.35, I can switch between the three options and I can still make a phone call when I switched to GSM only mode. 3G network works fine to me as well if I switch my phone to WCDMA only.
After updated to 2.2.1 or 2.2.3, the GSM only option disappeared from the Network mode.Specifically, when I open the Network mode, it only shows WCDMA only and GSM/WCDMA auto. GSM only is not grayed out, its just not shown in the Network mode anymore.
I borrowed my friend's SIM card (which is Vodafone AU as well) and it shows the same problem in my DHD.
Fixed!!
Ok. I know what caused the issue here. The APN setting for Vodafone AU includes MCC:505, MNC:3, which makes my phone cannot chose GSM only mode. I decompile the Phone.apk and modified the arrays.xml file in the values-mcc505-mnc3 folder to add the GSM only mode back.
After I flash my modified Phone.apk back to DHD, I get the GSM only mode back again!!

Hey linus, I was just searching for the same thing...
I'm using Leedroid's GB ROM (2.2.3) and missing the same option. Was fine on FroYo.
Are you able to share or link your phone.apk? I'm so hanging to get this option back as it's saved me a few times when I can't get good 3G coverage. Also reduces battery consumption...
Probably silly question, but is it possible to change the APN settings or something esle to acheive this without changing the apk? I'm just thinking of future ROM releases.
Hey Linus,
As above any chance I could get a copy of the phone.apk. I'm having the same problem too and it's a bit annoying... Cheers
cannot switch to GSM only
Hi there,
Got a SGS2, that I am pretty happy about, BUT
I miss the option saying "GSM only". According to every manual I see, it should be there.

Would your phone.apk work for me as well..?? If, please mail it to me [email protected]

[Q] DHD No Signal

Hi, I'm a noob, forgive me. I bought my Desire HD from Singapore, which came unlocked. Then, I downgraded it, and rooted it. Everything went fine. Then one day, after flashing a rom and flashing the recommended radio (forgot which rom), my phone suddenly lost signal, and I have been unable to get it back since. It says "Limited Service Emergency Calls Only" It detects the SIM card, but when I try to connect to my home network, it says that my SIM does not allow a connection to that network. So, I flashed back to stock, both Froyo and Gingerbread, assuming that it replaces the radio with the default radio. (Is that so?) However, that does not work. Now I fear that I might have flashed the wrong stock rom, which might be the problem. Does anyone know what is the stock rom for the Desire HD shipped to Singapore unlocked (software number, etc) and how can I get it? Also, how can I check the rom's information (software number, whether it is for asia, or is it WWE... etc) THANKS A LOT
PS. I tried getting a replacement SIM. it does not work. it is a 128k sim card. (Does that help?)
Nicholas
Also, other SIMs work on my Desire HD. My SIM doesnt, but works on other phones.

[Q] Not receiving every text message

Hey, I just root my phone and installed ILWT_CM7-vision-364. Every things work fine except I'm not receiving every text message.
Exemple if my friend text me in single message : 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
I will be receiving : 1. 3. 4. 5
Any ideas from where that problem is ?
Thanks
Which version are you using and who is your carrier?
If it's the A7275 (NAM version from Bell Canada) and you're on AT&T, it's because the network is confused with the phone version. You would have to call AT&T and tell them your problem and they'll help you reset it and register it on their network properly. (P.s. use another phone to call them though since it'll require a restart from your phone)
if it's the G2 on t-mo, same thing.
if it's something else... then I have no idea.
Download an app called 'Ghostly sms'
Which will let you know whether its an app/rom issue or network issue.
-Nipqer
Using Android version 2.3.7
baseband version 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_m
Kernel version [email protected] #1
Mod Version ILWT-CM7-20120227
build number GWK74
Im on Bell carrier in Canada
(where can i find if it's the A7275 ?)
I used the Ghostly SMS and i receive the same message in the app and in the sms application.
I just receive the 62 pending message this night
I think my carrier have done a syncronisation and voila! now i'm receiving every text message.
Was going to say, if Ghostly SMS is not receiving it either, sounds like a carrier issue.

Samsung Galaxy A50 -Software Update Issue after unlocking phone and switching network

Hi,
So yesterday I successfully unlocked my Galaxy A50 from Three network and ported my number to 48 network. Went to a phone fix shop to get the phone unlocked and it took about 20 minutes (cost me €25). Everything about the phone and 48 network works fine. However, when I went into Software update in my settings and tried to download and install the latest software update, I receive the message "Your current software version isn't supported. Visit a service centre".
I never had issues with updating software before and after checking online it seems that maybe the software updates are carrier locked (to Three network) and that if I want to update the software I would need to put an active Three SIM into the phone.
I rang back the guy who unlocked the phone and he said that people never come back to him with this issue after unlocking their phones, but if I wanted he would be able to manually update the phone and in the future it should update automatically, but this will cost €35 as he said he may need to backup everything and upload it again and it's a lengthy process.
It's either that, or find a Samsung Service Centre in Ireland (can't find any on website) or put a Three network SIM in any time I want to update.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Would really appreciate some help!
