Is there a cab that can disable the SMS msg I get after a phone call or missed one?
And yes, I have searched high & low for a solution on this site & can't find it.
Thanks!
So, my situation is unique? No one else has had this issue?
It's not an sms message.. it's just a pop up... and its dependent on what rom you are using really on how you turn on and off your notifications. If you are running a custom rom like Energy or something go to their thread and ask how to disable the particular notification.
usually its settings\sounds and notifications\ then go to the notifications tab and in there you can change what your phone does for different events.

You want to turn off the "missed call" icon on the task bar? I don't recall anyone requesting this before...

No, he wants to turn of the message that comes in with details about the missed call (date/time).
The missed call notification was off. Actually, it shows as a SMS message with the phone number that called or the call that I made. It definitely seems like a ROM issue - just flashed to Jackos' (so far perfect IMO) ROM & haven't had that issue at all. Thanks - I think I've found the solution.
Hey guys, the damn notification is back again! What the hell is that?
Are you using Youmail for your Voicemail?
Is there a way to disable the SMS/MMS icon that appears in my notifications? I believe it's the default one because I have uninstalled all third party applications.
Even when I click on it and read any new messages, it does not disappear unless I click "clear" in the notifications drop-down.

Go into your stock messaging app. Find settings by pressing menu! Scroll to received Notifications. disable it now.... There you go, the little message icon shouldnt appear.

lol.. thanks for the help, but I've disabled everything on the stock messaging app. I don't know what it is that keeps making the little message icon still appear.
I am trying to get rid of the "Ongoing" in my notification bar. It just showed up one day. There is a battery with the percent on the left side on the status bar, too. Any idea on what to do to get rid of this?

That's from your carrier only way to get rid of it is to root your phone and custom rom.....but some custom roms has that as well but most of them don't

That doesn't make any since, because my wife's SGS3 doesn't have it on her phone.
Thank you for the info. I will look into it
I don't think it has anything to do with rooting your phone. It just means that you have ongoing notifications. And you can't clear these like you can the one time normal notifications because they are still active i.e., ongoing. Once you close those tasks, like turning off the wifi calling and whatever the other item is, the ongoing notitications will clear themselves automatically. I don't know how to keep it from showing these ongoing notifications when they are active. Probably a feature of the app itself. Unless the app itself gives you that option under its settings.
It's a setting in the app.

That makes sense, but what app?
The app that is shown.... click on the ongoing notification the app should open then hit menu and look at the notification settings. You may have to reboot after you then it off. WiFi calling can't be hidden.
Ok. I found the app. I went through all my apps I downloaded after it happened and it was a new feature for Widgetsoid.
Thanks for the help all
I am having an issue/annoyance with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S9 and I hope you all are able to help. My device is currently setup so that when I get a text I receive the notification in the bar, I am then able to pull the notification bar down to read a portion or all of the text and am given the option to reply (a short message) directly through this feature. When I do this and click the send arrow and very quickly thereafter I receive another notification as if I had gotten a new or different text when in fact, when I slide the notification bar down, it is just just my own sent text being shown to me. Hopefully this makes sense to some of you. It is really annoying to me. I always thought that in the past if you did a quick reply the notifications would auto go-away unless you actually recieve a new/different text message.
Any insight?
Thanks
Bro, it's not an issue, it's actually helpful in a lot of ways.
For example if I had to reply to an important message without being "online" on whatsapp, I can send many messages from just the notification panel, so I can see the whole conversation from there without opening the app. I think it's a very handy feature.
Simply when you reply to a conversation and you don't need to utilize this feature, just swipe the notification to the left/right and you won't see a notification unless you recieve a new message.

So swipe away the notification once you have sent your message, happens here too if I leave the notification there after replying
I don't see the benefit
I don't use WhatsApp, but regardless I don't need my notification light to keep flashing as a result of me replying to a text via quick reply feature. Like I said, it's just an annoyance for me that I don't recall dealing with on any of my galaxy devices and I was merely trying to see if there was a way to toggle this "feature."

Yes, I can read and that's what I already do. The whole purpose of the thread was to see if there was an option to toggle this useless feature off. I would have already read and/or replied to the specific text, thus not needing to have to REacknowldge or "swipe" the notice away for a second time...leaving my light flashing until I go to it 2 times.

You should explain in your first post what you have and have not done so people know before replying....
No, no toggle other than disabling notification LED altogether either system wide or for that app
Phone is obviously thinking your reply is a new message, which in a way it is, although already reading it should inform it that you have read it and it is not new, but as it does not, keep swiping and report to Samsung

this might actually be a sprint issue. the app that you use to do your quick replies, do you know what its called? my S9 doesnt have a feature like that on it and its running the may security patch update, so its not on an old firmware and just missing a new feature.
glitchy stuff like what youre experiencing can be often solved with a factory reset

It's not an app, it's literally the notification pulldown which you can reply from, when you receive a message and pull down the notification to read it, under the message is a reply button, press that and it opens a little reply text box on the notification dropdown, when you press send and turn off the screen it flashes the LED to say there is an unread notification which is actually your reply still sitting in the notification dropdown, only way to stop it is to swipe away
Got it here with unbranded G960F S9 in the UK on o2

ok, i just tested that out, and i was able to use the quick reply feature and didnt get a residual notif. rec'd test, went to pulldown, hit the little enter key button which revealed a reply field taht wasnt part of my default text app, typed a reply, sent it, locked screen, no flashing light, no further notif. seems like mine is working like its supposed to
edit: i also verified that the intended recipients got my replies. no notifs for my outbound messages on my device

You have hit the nail on the head! This exactly what I am referring to. No app, just default texting app. Exactly as you described.
SM-G960U on Sprint Network for me.
Most up to date software I believe, at least that's what my device tells me.

Since our AOD notifications light comes only once and it's barely visible, I've decided to find some replacement for it...
I tried a few AOD apps from Play Store but the phone never goes in deep sleep with them, except for this one :good:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newgen.edgelighting
It illuminates the edges of the screen when a notification appears, it's colorful, goes around the sreen, very visible...you can change its duration,thickness...there's a few more settings there but only in the premium version...
I think you'll like it,check it out
Here's a gif example...
I tried it but couldn't make it work, it doesn't light up the screen, what settings do i have to enable/disable to make it work? I have given all the required permissions.
---------------------------------
Nevermind, I managed to make it work. Thanks

After you give all permissions through the app, go to settings/apps/permissions/other permissions, find True Edge and give the permissions again for Modify system settings and Show on lock screen...

thank you I just seek an application like this :good:
Turn on MIUI optimisation /Settings -> Additional settings -> Developer options - deep down below/ should be turned ON, active.
Otherwise True Edge doesn`t work - no matter of permissions given.
At least on Chinese stable rom - in the signature below.

It isn't enough when app ask for them, you must go to Settings/Apps/Permissions/Other permissions, find True Edge and check Modify Sytem settings and Show on lock screen...
And lock it on the recent apps and allow Autostart.
Also check Force Service in True Edge settings...

Hi,
I installed this, because the little led on front camera is just a joke.
The app works fine for all notifications that do not turn screen on, so it works well for email or message-app.
But if a notification turns the screen on, this app does not work, so I get no lighting from whatsapp or missed calls that both turn on the screen for a moment.
Does someone have any idea how to solve this. I tried to disable screen on in whatsapp but had no success. It still goes on every time a get a message there. I disabled popup-message in app-setting with no effect.
I am on xiaomi.eu rom miui 11.04.

Unfortunately there is no option for this in WA. It has just an option for LED but this has no effect on display.
May there be a possibility to revoke some authorisation for this in Miui? I did not find one.
So do you get edge notification for missed calls or do you have the same problem than me there?

Sent the dev a message. With he solves that, I will probably buy pro version. It's the only thing that keep me away
I installed Miui 11.1 from xiaomi.eu today. With this version Always-On-Display got some improvements.
In fact I think I do not need any other notification app now.
In AOD I set a custom layout and used a black photo as background and set the switch to show notifications. So I get only an little line with time and date. Besides I set "light display when new notification arrives".
Now, when a message arrives the display switches on. I can see incoming message on lockscreen without touching the phone. Then the display switches off and AOD shows an icon from messaging app (see attached picture). This stays there until I unlock the phone.
This is perfect for me, I do not need any additional apps for this any more.
Only if phone is in a dark room, AOD switches off. That is not perfect because you do not see waiting messages then. But when you then lighten the room, AOD comes back. I can live with that.
