3g question - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

i have a T mobile TP2 which is unlocked and i am using it in india.. recently 3g was enabled in my location and i am planning to opt those plans.. but before that i wanted to know whether it will work??.. being a T-mobile TP2 does my device support the 3g in my country ??... i dont know a lot about 3g networks... just that i know that there various bands in it.. so is my unlocked TP2 compatible with all the 3g networks or only t mobile netwroks or something like that...

you have to find out what bands your operator's 3g works on.
Once you find that out, compare that to the 3g bands in your device (which should be UMTS1700, UMTS2100) and if they're the same as your network's bands then it will work.

i got to know that my operator works on UMTS 2100 band.. so am i good to go then?

Help! 3G is not working after Hard-SPL and unlocked TP2

I'm new here and I enjoyed this site very much. I have one problem with my TP2. Somehow, 3G network is not working after I installed Hard-SPL and unlocked T-Mobile TP2 switch to AT&T sim card. Everything is working fine with AT&T's sim card I was able to made phone calls, received, SMS, and web browsing. ATT 's 3G network is available around my home, but I can not get 3G on TP2 instead a EDGE network. Can unlocked TP2 handle AT&T's 3G network? or a .cab file I can download to fix this?
idk for sure but i think t mobile uses a different frequency for 3g from at&t so if they are you are stuck with edge speeds on at&t man sorry
I have the tmobile TP2 and i can confirm from talking with ATT that the phone does support ATT BUT i was unable to use the phone on 3g. The phone DOES support the signals for 3g but am still unable to access the towers in my area. I think the phone may be hard set to look at tmobile towers, is there any way i could reset the device to open up its tower usage? Hopefully i can get an answer but no tmobile TP2 users arent screwed in the US we just need to find a fix
It was my understanding that the tmobile tp2 does NOT have 850/1900mhz 3g on it. It does have aws 1700 for sure. Not sure about 2100mhz though for overseas.
This issue has been covered many times in the numerous AT&T threads on this board.
I'm sorry to tell you that the T-Mobile TP2 hardware radio was limited to using 3G over the 1700/900Hz frequencies, while AT&T currently uses 1900/850Hz only. It's unlikely that any change can be made to the radio software wise to fix this issue.
Just to make things clear the issue has nothing to do with Hard SPL or custom roms.
T-Mobile UMTS 1700/2100 Mhz
T-Mobile 3G runs on UMTS 1700 up and 2100 down. Unless you have a device that runs on those specific frequencies, EDGE is the best you can do with T-Mobile if you opt to run on their service.
ATT offers UMTS or 3G using 850mhz(the old TDMA band) and 1900mhz. While T-mobile offers HSDPA (technically 3.5g part of the UMTS specification) using 1700MHz for uplink and 2100MHz downlink.
Because HSDPA is part of the UMTS spec, it’s backward compatable. However, you have the limiting factor beging that the frequencies the individual carriers use to transmit the data.
Europe and Asia’s 3G runs on 1900/2100mhz. North and south America is supposed to use the (AWS) 3G spec using 1700/2100mhz
ATT didn’t want to wait, like T-mobile is doing, for homeland security to vacate those frequencies and launched on 850/1900mhz instead

I heard that t-mobile did not have enough spectrum in many areas to launch 3g in its existing 1900mhz. At&t doesn't have that issue, or as bad.
Im gonna make this real easy for u. The tmobile tp2 will not work on at&t 3g. The 3g bands are different

Once unlocked, it'll definitely work for calls/2G data. I believe those networks use 2100 for UMTS, so it should give you 3G as well.
I did not unlock my G2, it works for other 2G network, but for 3G, you must unlock it.
What good is a Desire Z without 3G
The G2 supports Band I (2100) and Band IV (1700/2100). UK mobile networks use Band I for 3G so you'll be fine with UK coverage. Possibly not so fine in some parts of Europe though, some use Band I but also Band VIII (900) - the latter being supported by the European DZ.

[Q] @ USA Users

So after having bought and upgraded the phone for the gf and having seen the amazing display and speed, I'm considering getting one for myself (even though I'm a bit hesitant due to the battery life and:
From what I've seen, it looks like this phone is compatible with:
Metro PCS for and T-Mobile for 3G and Sprint for 4G, I think. (US carriers)
Because I'm really green when it comes to this, I'd like to know: GSMArena lists the 3G network as HSDPA 2100 while Metro PCS for and T-Mobile is listed as carrying the 1900/2100 bands for the 3G network, but doesn't specify what type (eg HSDPA, EV-DO, etc). Does this matter? Like, would the phone not work even though it can tune into the 2100 band because of type?
While on the subject, does anyone know whether or not they'll add more LTE bands to USA carriers? The only US 4G carrier I saw that carries the 800 band is Sprint, which I heard wasn't very good and also don't have compatible 3G bands.
Also, the 2G network (which I'm assuming is voice calls only) for the phone is listed as operating under CDMA 800/1900 bands. Would these bands, the CDMA, work for US carriers? or would it need GSM?
Thanks!
PS For USA users who've managed- how's the phone work with USA carriers?

[Q] Cant connect to 3G/LTE on G3 at&t only EDGE!

Hi guys, am using a branded G3 At&t, but i am in a country with no At&t carriers. My problem now is that apart from 2G (EDGE) i cant connect to a 3G or 4G network. i have tried many stock roms and custom roms to no avail, even in areas with strong 3G/LTE receptions. I was scared that maybe my phone is carrier locked, but if so will i still be able to use it normally except using a 3G connection? I am kinda confused and stuck with EDGE?
My APN settings are correct according to my service provider.
Could it be that your network provider doesnt support the 3G and 4G bands that the AT&T G3 uses?
My network providers 3G band is W-CDMA 2100.

VS986 to use band 5 LTE abroad.

I meant to use band 5 lte in indonesia with smartfren using vs986. I used shortcut master lite app to enable band 5 (and/or disable irrelevant lte bands). However i still cant connect to it. I am certain that my location is under that lte band 5 coverage given that when i used other gsm sim i could see the network and attempt a registration on the network. Furthermore, seeing the networks rat id also match with the information online that it is indeed a band 5 lte network. However when i pop in the band 5 lte network gsm sim card, i am no longer able to scan for networks, it just fails to scan everytime, thus i cant connect. I wonder if there is a workaround to make vs986 able to connect to other lte networks other than verizon.
P.s. im on slim 13b rooted/xposed.
It's not just the bands. Verizon really borked the firmware of the phone to make sure that it doesn't work on any other 4G LTE network than its own. For instance, it doesn't work on AT&T and T-Mobile LTE network in the US either, even though the bands are supported.
What you can try is to switch the phone to "LTE/CDMA" mode in the "Network mode" settings. This will probably kill your phone connection, but if you get 4G LTE then, then you can try the same hack that worked for T-Mobile: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/guide-fix-vs986-dropping-to-3g-h-4g-lte-t3272434
But on some networks, there is no hope, for instance nobody was able to get it to work on AT&T.
I think i did check that thread out when i used t-mobile for about 6 months in seattle/udistrict/uvillage/uw areas, with no success. I never got the LTE connection. I wonder maybe its related to different roms/kdz/flashfire modified version of 13b that cause it. I hope someone whos lucky enough to get lte might share info about their 13b version/softwares that you debloat using debloater or froze using tibu. Thanks.
P.s. it was on 4g for an instant before it gives me no signal/network.
Why would VZW disable B5 if they have B5 sites?
That would really be stupid.
Posted using a calculator and delayed by AT&T.
LTE 2/4/5/13 can be activated using Shortcut master lite. The problem is that, when i used a simcard that utilized LTE band 3/8, i could detect/attempt registration to signal from LTE band 5 from local network through GSM (given that i activated it). However when I used simcard for that LTE band 5 network, somehow, i can no longer use gsm/cant search for network/crashed. It seemed that LTE antennae on this device is programmed to only accept verizon's. (For lte networks, apns are saved when i put MCC/MNC or RAT for verizons, but discarded when i put other). Thank god though i could still use umts/3g.
Edit: So i tried again. Turns out, i could to get registered on the network, checked on network type and strength (says 4g - 3/4 bars) also on lte discovery says connected. However signal bars says unable to connect to network. Verizon definitely prevent users to use lte on another network. What a **** company.
this is from Verizon website them self
Network
CDMA, GSM, LTE*
Frequencies
1.9 GHz CDMA PCS, 800 MHz CDMA, GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, LTE 2/4/5/13, LTE 3/7 for Roaming*
which show it support band 3 in case of romaing only..but if you are in USA will not work sure as it is not romaing.
