I have just downloaded windows mobile 6.5 but have no idea in how to go about in installing it so can anyone help me as i have never downloaded an OS before

Hi all.
I have a small question. So far I have focused in the ROM and WM 6.1 Pro, but now I switched to ROM WM 6.5 Pro and I am very satisfied so far, but I need to verify if I can install applications for WM 6.1 Pro? Before I install anything, just checking.
Info phone is the following:
ROM: 2.03.401.3 WWE from 4.4.2009
Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional

Yes you can, I tried many 6.1 ver. softwares on my 6.5 wmobile.So go without fear....

Liam i dont think u have moved it mate and jackal some will some wont, its trial and error you will just have to find out for youself

I have downloaded the new windows 6.5 build,after extracting it,theres lots of files.
How do you install this? Usually its a cab file or self installing.
Any help to install this would be much appreciated.

That depends on your phone, but normally you start it in serial mode, put it in the dock and start the update program.
What phone do you have?
Those are resources only for ROM cooking.
You can't install it like cab's or exe's!
You need to cook a ROM for specific device and then update the device.

Enter to your device section and see if any chef has ported a version for your device, then in the Wiki you can learn how to flash the ROM

make a strong coffee and go Blackstone WIKI LINK and start reading
I think it's easier for you when you use an already-cooked ROM.

I have a touch hd which windows mobile 6.1 installed. MSN is not working, windows is very slow, often it just freezing. so I searching for a beter windows mobile.
it has ROM 1.56.404.1 installed.

The good start is to check the Wiki, it has step by step instructions on flashing. However, I have to warn you that if you have a 64Mb device, WM6.5 is not such an amazing idea, simply due to memory constraints, so give it a thought before you begin, there are great WM6.1 ROMs available for upgrade, give them a go, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hi. First of all, try searching before posting. If you looked carefuly, in the "Touch Diamod, MDA Compact IV ROM Development" section is a post named "[TUT]Complete upgrading guide (HARDSPL+Radio+ROM) NOT FOR CDMA USERS!!!"
So, you have to find out first if your device uses CDMA or GSM. Europe generaly use GSM networks. So if your device uses GSM, please read the thread mentioned above. To go there, click here.
