Hi i just got a mytouch3g, rooted it, then installed enoch 1.4.2 theme. When i rebooted it i found i only had 3 navigation pages as apposed to 5. can anyone help me get the other 2 back?
Sorry if this is a "noobish" question. I'm new to all this.
Thanks
since you're a noob and i'm a noob, i figure i can ask you. how do i "root" my mytouch 3g, and the ninstall a custom theme? also what does your theme look like?
You can google it and find all the info you need on that. Since I've only done it once i wouldn't feel comfortable telling you what to do when this could brick your phone.

Hi all,
I will say now that i am a total noob and for the life of me can't code, BUT i do love this site and all the work that is done and i really admire it all,the way i see it is that if it aint on the xda developers website then it aint worth it i have now managed to root my UK G1 and install custom boot screens, I have noticed however that there don't seem to be any RC9 themes yet, am i missing them or are there just none at this stage?
Kind regards.
Doobs x
there is a script that should be able to convert the theme of your choice to any build of your choice(RC9 included) but it will only move the images, if you want the hex edits the dev did then you will need to move them yourself(unless i missed that update on the script) hit the search button and find it
Thanks for the up! The Vekktor them is No.1 for me so far Now if anyone falls upon this post after asking the same question without really opening your eyes like me this will be the right post to look in:-

Thanks.
Hi.
I hope it is the right place to post this.
I was hoping someone could port this theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574139
For the Desire or make a theme copying the style. Mostly opendesire or Defrost.
I really like the Buuf style as I use it in ubuntu and ADW launcher. But I lack the skills and the knowledge to make a theme or port it.
(I don't know which image files does what...)
Thanks in advance. And I hope you can help me.

No one. no
Well if someone could atleast point to a tutorial on what which picture file does what I guess I will see if I can do it myself. (And maybe a little on how it works. I have ubuntu.)
Hi
Unfortunatley you aren't going to get much advise on this here, I too like a theme but it is not for my phone it's for T-Mobile Pulse.
I too wanted my theme ported as I do not have the skills, I'm fine with photoshop but its knowing which images and xml code need changing. Also photoshop PSD template would be great.
But I guess there are no tutorial or anyone willing to create one. I'm doing my own research but haven't yet found anything useful. i'll let you know if I get anywhere.
Good Luck mate but I think we are on our own with this one
Thanks for answering. And think you are right about the "on our own" part. I guess I'll have to find a tutorial on which files to edit and then make my own theme. If you find anything. Could you please give me a PM?
Sent from something using the internet.
Just thought I'd let you know that I managed to port the theme I wanted, not too bad but is not perfect stills some issues.
Shame there are no PSD templates. please see thread.

The problem is that theme is ugly and childlike no offence but it is.
This puts people off porting themes as there will be only one or two people that will actually like it and use it. What rom are you currently using? I may have a go at porting it tomorrow when i have some spare time. Not sure how much of it i would be able to do. I'm new to all this stuff too!
Lol.
I know It's childish. But so am I
I am shifting between defrost 2.9a, opendesire 3.3.0 and cyanogenmod rc2.
So if you have time, you can deside.
well, i decided im going to try and make a rom, and since im a beginner, i need tips and advice on how to. is there anything important i need to know? where do i begin? any info from any developers are welcome, and please. no flaming
only one bump, i promise
yea i've wanted to im have asked a couple people and the best advice i got was to
1.)download the android sdk from google
2.)download some roms or themes and to look in them and see what files are in there basically learn the files that make a rom or a theme.
3.)download a image manipulation (Photoshop, Gimp) these are the best i recommend Gimp its free!!!!
4.) WinRAR this you will have to buy or get the trial verison some computers come with this installed.
that about it thats as far i got.
Download 7zip because its the easiest to use (on windows, ubuntu has it built in.
Know the basic drivers and functions
DONT GET UPSET IF YOUR BUILD FAILS (easier said then done..i know, i made some RoMs in my day)
Know what you want- you should always know what you want before thinking about touching a ROM. If you like DE-Sensed, then know what parts to de-sense.
Know what the apps do- some apps are nonsense (like city ID, footprints, etc) and some apps make the phone usable (like a launcher), so never delete a main app off the phone without replacing it with a similar app (if i deleted sense launcher and replaced with launcher pro).
Push yourself to do more- if you ge t bored with making DE-sensed roms, try to build from source. I can always help you with that, as i have written up a giude on it and have done it many times.
and the number 1 rule:
LOVE YOUR WORK!
thanks for the info guys, this is really gonna help!

I know, I know, I know...
I am a member of a few different forums for other things and there is always a neb that comes on and asks a question that has been beat to death.
I have heard that God kills a kitten ever time someone post a thread before doing a search on what you are trying to get answered. So for my sake, God's sake and that poor kitten sake, I did read through a lot of post before I had the sack to post this question
I am posting this question because there seems to be a lot of different answers to a lot of different questions, so, I was hoping for very direct answers to these questions that I know have been asked plenty of times...
Here it goes...
I have purchased the HTE EVO w/ android 2.2 and I have had it for about 2 weeks.
I want to root my phone, which is my first ever smart phone.
This is what I would like to happen...
1) I want to be able to have the restore point so that I can flash my phone back to stock so that if something happens the warranty will still be good.
* Does this save on my home pc or sdcard? Or Both?
I have read that you need to download here not there(ruu...clockworks/rom manager)...no here not there...If you download anything but this you will not be able to get it back to the stock setting and Sprint will know you have rooted the phone...The whole thing started to get a little confusing.
I am a very simple person so I am hoping for a very simple answer, if there is one.
1) How do I root my HTC EVO that has the android 2.2?
2) How do I make sure that I can have a recovery point incase I mess it up (brick, etc...)
3) How do I make sure that I can flash my phone back to the original settings just incase I have to send it in to be fixed for some reason, which rom manager lets me do this?
4) Is it legal to do this?
5) What might be the biggest no-no to do before, during and after you root your phone?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.
MOD Edit:
Moved to Evo 4 Area
Cheers,
M_T_M
PS: The kitten does not suffer though
As the title suggests. Sorry, I'm new to all this. I couldn't find anything using the search feature. Is there any clear instructions on how to theme dxTop? I found a link directing me to a wikidot page, but apparently it's not there anymore. Any help much appreciated. Sorry for being such a newb...
are you rooted? if so look into the newer launchers launcher pro zeam or adw and there new stuff always coming out for those and i think dxtop has been left in the dark.
No, I'm not rooted. Not even too sure how to do that. Like I said, totally new to all this. I did try running ADW, but it wouldn't work on my machine. I'm running 1.5. This is a Chinese Rockchip player. Runs the RK2808A chipset.
look though the other g1 threads and see what is there its the best place to start and see if your try g1 questions and answers and look for help. if not try the unlockr dot com and ask there or cyanogenmod there always willing to help out.
More than likely u'll be able to find an instructional video on the unlockr website, but i do suggest trying the old fashion way and not the one click super easy root tool. You get to learn some of the basic to adb which u'll need later on.
ratchet789- Great reply, lately I've found so many noobs flamed for asking semi obvious question that really don't have answers unless u already know a little about the forum.
