It is unclear whether your device is bricked or you can not upgrade it, please provide more details.
If your device is bricked (you can not boot to windows, you have no GSM error, you are stuck in tri-color screen(red, green, blue)) Pof runs a thread on bricked Hermes here. I suggest you ask here instead of WM6 forum. He has also posted how to unbrick most cases of bricking here. However I suggest you read the dead hermes? corrupted radio? Post comments here (first link I gave you) first. Good luck with your problem!

Your patience is amazing... your advice prudent....
i would have shot em down n thworn hand grenades until the person was not only flamed but completely disentegrated...

i looked at this thread in between meetings today and it only made my bloos pressure rise, thank god for winfield golds and the pub around the corner from my work.

Well I am (senior) n00b myself, I just read before asking and my english is on average level. But that does not give me right to flame somebody right away. Maybe after some time I will change to flame thrower too

how are the females in Bratislava?
I have been meaning to visit for a long time but the movie HOSTEL made me think twice.

I bricked mine for the first time the other day trying to put on my own splashscreen (boring original T-Mobile ones ;-) and it was sticking at the Tri-colour screen as well.
So, after 5 seconds of panic, I calmly re-flashed the 1.40 radio and it returned to normal service (after which I, vicariously, some would say) tried my splashscreen flash and that worked OK too
Panic not. Breathe. Flash Radio ROM. Breathe.
It'll probably then be OK

If it is OK, lie down and breathe some more ;-D

You can stay cool we only torture US tourists.... Women in that movie were Slovak (to get a picture..), beer is better here, than in Australia I think (if you like lagers - Budweiser (original Czech one), Pilsner would be your nirvana). Btw. movie was shot in Czech Republic - not even a square inch of Slovakia in it Hostel is IMO pretty weak movie, definitely there are many better horror movies out there (I personaly like the Grudge).

As this discussion is much better than another "helpthreat" I have to throw in my two cents: Slovakia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, we shared everything at that time - the knowledge of brewage, the prettiness of women and so on

Im not retiring from HTC hermes, only from xda-developers soon,.

Please consider this my request to try your future new ROM. Hope it works out. If not, I understand and will continue to on Black 2.0 which has been been more than what I have expected, turning my Hermes to a productive machine. I tried black, so I can't go back.

Why not create a rom you like best yourself, ignore the things people say here and post it.
If they want it different, then they have to make it themselves or stop complaining.
Really like your roms and hope there will be lots more

JJ, like any cocker, need one site with his rules to work fine for all, so i understood the way he will take.
But don't worry, other cockers, LVSW for instance, make his work outside XDA, and the results for his work arrives to all

The original Shadow.exe file available on the official site has been replaced by a Shadow.rar file (new version) so I have removed the Shadow.exe from my mirror too.
In other terms ... LATEST VERSION COME AND GET IT WHILE IT LASTS !!!

He deserves NO respect.
Well OK... as a chef hes a genius, as a person, with his attitude, he deserves NOTHING.
I'm sure MS would prefer us not to talk about their stuff, I'm sure the operators would prefer us not to talk about their stuff.
What right does he have to ask this?

Hey all, does anyone know if this is the fixed version resolving the dll conflict and startup issues? I would go to the 4winmobile black forum but it's down at the moment... been down for an hour or so... I think they're upgrading their forum software...

A little respect and a THANK YOU to the creator of what you are now reading and wanting to download and use wouldn't hurt you know. I'm not in anyway affiliated with JJ, but I do respect his wishes since we are the ones sitting around waiting for him to finish this colossal task of cooking a ROM for us... at least we can say thanks and not attack him on top..... my 0.02...
[edit] by the way, even if 4winmobile.com is down, his site http://wmblack.info/ which has the 100% latest download is up

I know http://wmblack.info/ may have the latest release but the http://wmblack.info/ website doesn't tell us if the release has the dll conflict and soft reset issues resolved (hang during shadow splash). just wondering if this release is OK. I'm sure there are plenty of users waiting for this release to stabilize before going through the install process and then discover my hermes just hangs at some splash screen and have to go through the cycle of doing soft and hard resets....

Downloaded from Wmblack.info about an hour ago.
Flashed the Rom and no problems.
Nice.
But have removed the HTC homeplugin. Preferred my own combination, but a nice try.
Re the ROM discussion on XDA - whilst I am a fan of JJ I do not see how trying to restrict discussion on here is practical or the logic in it. As long as everyone is aware that if you want to feedback to JJ and recieve support from JJ then you need to do it on the official website. People can chat about the ROM wherever they like, they may just be misinformed or not receive any help, but that is their choice.
I do not think that trying to block additional mirrors will be practical although as I have not had any problems with the main downoad page, so not sure why mirrors are needed.

I am also a big fan of "free software" to try it before buying it (yeah thats true, i do actually buy software). but posting such links in this forum could lead to a shut-down of the site (wouldn't be the first one), and that would be really sad. where else should i get all those nice dev and hacking knowledge? from HTC, don't think so....

I was being serious with the try before you buy.
warez should not be on this site, no discussion.
but warez is a good way of trying out if you like a product before you buy.
not every developer has a trial version available, or only a limited function trial version.
your software will be much more popular if it is available for try outs.
If you do not like it, you will not have wasted money on it.
Software developers should pay more attention to that. WOW is a good example: free access for a week, then you pay. I did not because i did not like the game, but others might be convinced otherwise.
imagine bying this expensive product and it was rubbish. would you buy again from that company?

HTC One X Give Away

OK guys this is no joke.
I have an HTC One X (black) in pieces.
My digitiser screen broke, I ordered a new one. When it arrived here I set about fixing my phone. Just to say I am not much of a fix it guy. Whilst getting the old digitiser off I broke the actual (LCD) darn it. I carried on for the experience. I got the innards out all as they should be except the tiny piece of plastic that covers the front camera, not really needed. It's very small but hardly important. I suppose even with a broken LCD (£30UK) and opened up i could still get money off eBay for it. But I am not going to do this
I will send it to any PROVEN dev at no cost, FREE aside of P&P. Count it as me doing my bit to help the dev movement and my little way to say thank you. They can put it back together because I can not. The phone worked perfect and was my daily driver for 2 months even after i smashed the digitiser it worked perfect. I will also send the brand new digitiser screen.
All I ask is that you pay the P+P (we are poor. Lol)
Up to you guys. If you want it come and get it.

Just throw my suggestion out there, mwilky who created renovate rom lost his the other day in a cab as far as I know he's no building blind.
If not I think Nitrous as he is the guy who has taken s-off into another league and is trying everything for us.
