Hi all,
In Ausdim's latest WM6 ROM I found a very nice dialer with (3G) Video Call support.
There's a screenshot below.
The new official Dopod WM6 ROM still has the "old" ugly green dialer and the HTC Touch dialpad doesn't support video dialing (there's no button).
So is it possible to get ausdim's dialer with video support on the new dopod rom?
Typical...
Off course after searching for about an hour I thought: ok, then I'll open a new thread to ask for the dialer and 2 minutes later I found this:

I guess this is what I was looking for...
Why bother with a 3g dial pad when wm6 on the Trinity does NOT offer video calling... :/

And why again does the Trinity have 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) support and a camera on the front?
Do you guys think spending 1MB plus on a dialer skin is worth it? I'm contemplating replacing mine.. the WM6 for HTC P3600 is pretty ugly..
Customize
Yeah anythings got to be better than the standard dialer, I use JPLDialer_WaveIII.cab that's 2 MEG but compliments the vista business skin on Modaco. I'd pay for an app that created custom phone dialer skins.

Trinity DOES offer video calling if you have a 3G SIM. You obviously only have a standard GSM SIM card.

I think the problem is the network, not the sim card
Ok Im sure this is an easy question if you know your stuff...
I like the smart dialing in vp3g at&t build. It seems a little different than the one in Schaps. How can I interchange the smart dialing? What program do I look for to install or change?
I didnt identify this issue in wiki or search!
Thanks in advance
Jason

It is what it is! But most people will still not read the requirements and end up screweing their phones. That's a fact of life.

2nd ever start to the start of the pin always have to go manually.
help please
I have seen some wonderful cooked ROMs for TP2 devices in these forums and elsewhere, many of which with excellent appearance, performance and functionalities. Some cooks are even thoughtful enough to make both GSM and CDMA versions. However, my use of such has stumbled on the following very significant obstacle: the physical keyboard (aka "the main reason why people purchase this device in the first place").
I have identified at least three types of keyboard on TP2 devices depending on whether they are directly supplied by HTC or if they come from carriers such as Verizon or Sprint. Not only do the carrier devices not have a Ctrl key like the original one does, but they also differ regarding other key mappings. There are also differences between the keyboards in Verizon and Sprint phones as to the location of the comma, underline, other punctuation marks, special characters, and functions.
As I own a Sprint Version device, most ROMs I install tend to jumble up the functioning of the keyboards so that I end up pressing one key and getting a different symbol in response. Therefore, I am now using the WM 6.5 update issued by Verizon March 19th 2010, having upgraded Windows Mobile Office and Windows Live through the Microsoft Marketplace service.
I wish I could upgrade do WM 6.5.3 and also take advantage of some goodies provided in cooked ROMS, such as crapware removal, upgraded versions of pre-installed apps, improved interface, etc., but I don't want to scramble my keyboard. I also do not want to have to install keymapping software, for I am Brazilian and already use AEKmap to generate the special characters in the Portuguese language (á, à, ã, é, ê, ç, etc.), so i dont want do complicate matters in that department.
Anyone know where I can find good Sprint-keyboard-friendly customized ROMs? Or, perhaps, some other way of dealing with this issue?
Thx in advance.
Energy ROM has a function in Start>Tools called "Carrier Provisioning" which will automatically remap the keyboard for your TP2 version. Other cooks may have similar solutions.
But I'm not sure how you will get the Brazilian characters you're looking for. There is a Rhodium Keyboard Controller CAB (below) that works really well to remap keys, but I don't know if/how you can get the Brazilian characters.

You're in the wrong forum to ask about Verizon/Sprint phones, since they're CDMA and this forum is about GSM ROMs. Check out either the Rhodium CDMA sub-forum, or (probably better) ppcgeeks.com which tends to have much better coverage for CDMA devices.

Thx for your response.
If there is such a function, I believe it would most definitely help me out. The Energy ROMs are precisely what I had in mind. Is this a new addition? I was reading the Energy forums and October last year there were still issues with Sprint phones.
Regarding the special characters I need, AEKmap works just fine. I just didn't wanto to have to include extra settings (create a third keyboard layout) to correct any jumbling from the ROM.

Given that I was not referring to a GSM x CDMA issue (I originally mentioned that this has already been addressed by developers), I though that the ROM forum would be the best choice.

I might have got it wrong. But I thought you have a Sprint phone (i.e. a CDMA TP2) and you want to get the keyboard working properly on it ? If so, then that's a CDMA ROM issue.
Not trying to be unhelpful here, quite the opposite - I'm suggesting you'd get much better help if you went to ppcgeeks.com and asked on this, because there would be a lot more people with CDMA TP2s there.
