I was using it yesterday to go on craigslist, and all of a sudden it froze and went to the black loading screen. I left it alone for about 10 minutes to see if it would reboot, but it never did. so i went back into winmo, and tried loading the haret.exe again, but now android never loads. It just stays at the black screen.
I really would like to know how to fix this, because android is my main os :/
P.S. i replaced the zimage with the battery fixed one, but that was awhile back, so i dont think it has anything to do with that.
I was reading the main page for this and did see this:
This in NOT an emulator, nor is it a full ROM! Haret.exe closes down Windows, and boots Linux off of your Storage Card to launch Android
Soooo, maybe there is something wrong with your storage card maybe?
Great...now i have to format it. Thanks bro, ill let you know if it works...
if that doesnt work just delete the data.img created, makes it like you first tried android for it.
yeah, just delete ur data img. juss set up ur settings again like u had b4 and reinstall whateva programs u had. deleting the data img. and booting up Android is like trying to boot up for the first time again. its a fresh start. let us know if that wrked
Omfg, thank you guys so much, it works now
But now it doesn't vibrate for texts x.x

Try checking the settings of your SMS app.
mine has been doing something similar, It would only get to the home screen the slow down to the point it just reboots andriod
Has happened about 5 times in a row. so I just gave up and went back to WinMo for the time being. But I will try you guy's solution.
This is starting to get a little frustrating...
Running CM 6.1.1 and i can't get my phone to stop randomly rebooting when i OC
i started all the way at max, and worked my way down to stock clock MHz. still getting random reboots.
but even at stock clock, i'm getting reboots. what's wrong with my phone?
i was thinking, maybe i should try using another kernel? can i use CM 6 with another OC kernel? i flash it just like a rom, right? any suggestions on which kernel to use?
IS IT A KERNEL PROBLEM? that's just my guess.
any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried NB_Mod 2.15 or CR_Mod 2.13? Those are froyo stock roms (2.15 being the later version) and if those don't work on the stock kernel, stock clock, etc., then send it in to t-mobile.

that's the thing
my phone was working completely fine out of the box...
when i installed cyanogen, that's when my phone would randomly reboot
and i can't exactly send it to t-mobile, because i use it on AT&T.
not to mention, i bought this phone off ebay, so it doesn't have a warranty either
unless someone wants to give me a proof of purchase that i could borrow, HTC won't take a look at the phone

a bit confused, sorry... when you say stock t-mobile rom, what i thought you meant was stock form. as in, out of the box. as i said in my previous post, the phone worked fine out of the box. those roms you mentioned are stock tmobile roms? i thought t-mobile didn't release froyo yet for the slide... would you like me to flash one of those roms you mentioned?
i went ahead and flashed NB_Mod 2.15. it's a solid rom, but a tad laggy...
that said, it has not reboot on me. what does that mean exactly?
please dont tell me i can't run cyanogen
i have noticed that my reboots are soft reboots.
the phone doesn't completely turn off. it simply goes back to the CM loading screen and shows the lock screen in a matter of a few seconds.

Soft reboots indicate software, if it was overclocking that was the issue it would be hard rebooting, or simply just freezing. I know you've already tried this, but try it one last time, wiping/factory reset and flash 6.1.1 stable. If it still reboots, (if it's reasonable) try to get a logcat right before the soft reboot, maybe we can find what's causing the reboot, an app maybe.

thank goodness for that. it's a great relief to hear that it's only a software problem. i can't tell you how scared i got lol....
i can wipe and reflash the phone again, but what's logcat? i will do as you say, but i would appreciate it if you walk me through. i've never used it before....
i used adb and typed in logcat, but i just got a mountain of garble...
not exactly sure where to go from here, or what i'm supposed to do.

Yes, that garble is what I need to look at
Leave your phone plugged into your computer, type adb logcat, and wait for the phone to soft reboot. If you know how to trigger the reboot, trigger it, and then immediately press CTRL + C in command prompt, that is, immediately after you see the boot screen come up again. Then, right click the command prompt window, click select all, paste it into a text file, and upload it as an attachment in a reply here. I'll take a look and see if it's an app or something else causing it. Someone else probably (hopefully) also take a look at that text file and contribute to my conclusion.

obviously, my phone decides to not reboot anymore once i plug it in...
ran the phone for roughly an hour.
i tried nearly everything to get a soft reboot, but no luck.
however, when i launched angry birds, the game would crash on me, and i would be brought back to the home screen, without warning. no force close notice.
i'm not sure how much help that would be, but i've attached that logcat file.
there is no ryhme or reason as to when my phone reboots. i'm assuming it has to be a background program or something, because none of the normal apps i use, show any patterns. the reboots occur whenever.
would i be able to just leave the phone plugged in, and keep logcat running, or do i have to be present when the reboot actually happens?
i don't mind running it overnight or something...
I'll take a look at the logcat when I'm on a computer, but the angry birds exit to home would probably happen if your phone has usb storage mounted and angry birds was on your sd card. Rebooting should fix that.
Can't leave it running overnight, since command prompt only saves and displays a certain number of lines.
My last suggestion would be to do a fresh install of cm7 or cm6, whichever, and install an app one by one, maybe like 5 a day or whatever, and see when the reboots start. Are there any apps that you use that are handling system stuff, like a task manager? Make a list of your installed apps and post it here, we can probably find what would be more likely than others.

darn, i'm not sure if i got it...
it was like a unicorn sighting.
i went to plug my phone in for an adb logcat, and as soon as i plugged it in, the phone froze and soft rebooted. cmd was filling up with stuff fast, and i wasn't sure if i stopped it in time. in a panic, i forgot how to stop cmd, so i don't know if the error is present in this file.
i attached the text file
i will keep trying for another logcat until you report back. if the logcat is no good, i'll just do a fresh install.
i can provide you with a list of all the apps i run, but is there a way to generate a list? or would i have to type them out manually?
The angry birds logcat LOOKED like a missing lib, probably because the part of the app on the sd card wasn't being loaded. Did you try rebooting?
As for the second logcat, it looks like it MAY have been stopped too late, although, how many seconds do you estimate went by? Because whatever was running when the reboot occurred should stay there for around 10-20 seconds, but I can't completely be sure of that.
Actually, I can see a line that states that the boot had completed on line 124, and it looks like everything above that is post-reboot, sorry, you're gonna have to snatch another logcat :/
As for apps, I don't know of an efficient way of doing it, I know there's an app that exports a list of apps to a text file but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.
Edit: It's called Zemna app list backup or something like that. Create a list of all apps, and then longpress the list and press send, you can send it to musicman374 at gmail.

I just backed up my list of apps and sent it to you.
I will try getting a logcat within the next day or so. If i can't, I will wipe and we can take this through, so i don't mess anything up this time...
Alright, sounds good. And it doesn't look like any of those apps would be causing anything like soft reboots, in fact, I have most of them installed on my phone. Aside from AndroZip and ColorNote, I have all of those, so they definitely shouldn't be the culprit.

so then would wiping and reflashing my phone really solve the soft reboots?
this would be my 4th or even 5th attempt to get my phone to function properly (i lost count).
i don't mind, but my general concern is this...
i would be using the same recovery, with the same rom, and i would be installing the same apps again.
i'm guessing i'm going to have to get a logcat file anyway, unless by some miracle my phone decides to wok properly this time i flash... either that or find a better way of flashing roms
what would you have me do?
UPDATE: YES!
i managed to force my phone into a soft reboot. not exactly sure what i did, but i just kept opening and closing random apps on my phone.
logcat 2. i wasn't sure when exactly i was supposed to stop the file, because CMD was filling up fast. hopefully i nabbed it. i stopped cmd, just a few seconds before the screen went back to the CM loading logo.
did i do it right???
logcat 3 happened when the phone was just sitting still. was not provoked. sorry, i don't want to hammer you with logcat files, but it has been so hard for me to get a logcat. so i'm trying to get every one i can.
please let me know

It's possible that we both have a hardware issue, but just FYI, this happened on my wife's original slide, and it's happening on the refurbished warranty replacement we just got.
From searching on the web, it appears that this problem may be caused by openGL. I don't think the stock roms use it, or at least not the newer version like CM does.
you didn't post your application list, but i've had my wife's phone crash while just booting up and sitting at the thunderstorm (free) LWP, which would be the only thing using openGL. I'll have to disable it for a few days and see if that solves it.

I'm not running any applications out of the ordinary.
i attached an app backup list from my phone
UPDATE: apparently, my phone is covered under warranty, even though i bought it off ebay.
i called up HTC and they didn't even ask for proof of purchase or anything. so hardware problem? bring it on.
but the problem still persists regardless...
My phone has been acting really weird. Throughout the day, I will check my phone and see the time. I am using Fancy Widget Pro and for some reason, after a while, the time on the widget and system no longer match. It's about a 5 to 15 minute difference. It really depends. I was also using setCPU and when I would charge it and the take out the charger, SetCPU would not change back to the profile that I made. Another problem I have noticed is when I plug the USB-microUSB from the computer to the phone, when I finish and take the cord out, the computer knows it's gone, but my phone still thinks it is there. The only other problem I can think of, which is the biggest, is I don't think I am receiving text messages. I sent a couple to myself, and never got them. The only way that I know to fix this problem is to restart my phone, but I never get those texts back. Any help would be awesome. I have already tried Odin and going back to a different stock ROM. I have also done countless factory resets. I have no clue what is going on. If you need anymore info on what I am running or anything, just let me know. Once again, any help would be awesome.
P.S. I am on EH06, deodexed and pre-rooted. I also flashed maddoggin's lockscreen mod. I don't know if that helps, but I might as well put it there.
Thank you.

Well, i guess if you were freezing programs, maybe something got frozen that was related to updating. The USB issue i have had in the past, and that has always been fixed by a reflash for me. The time not updating, I have had that as well, and for me it was related to Juice Defender and my data settings. I am not sure how much flashing you do, but I have noticed that if I have flashed a few ROMS/Themes/Kernels, over the course of a few days (especially going back and forth from Froyo to GB) I will start getting all kinds of weird issues happening. Usually when that happens, I will back up my SD card, wipe it and reformat it, Odin back to stock EC05, and start the whole process over again with re-rooting. Sorry if this was not much help. Just trying to give my experience, albeit limited!

Hey, no problem. To reformat the SD card, what I have done, is just copy the whole card to me PC, then go into CWM and there is formatting options in the mount and storage section if i remember correctly. then, i will just copy back the apk's and pics, music, etc...
I have 2 questions.
1) When you reformat your SD card, did that solve your problems?
2) I went into task manager and didn't see L1 or L2 RAM. Where do I look?

1) fixes some problems, definitely increased stability, if you do a lot of deleting, adding, moving, etc..
2) in task manager click on the RAM manger tab. But seeing as Android managers memory on its own, clearing L1 and L2 RAM is useless and only causes problems (sending and receiving texts) in my opinion.

I am formatting as we speak.
Do you know what aspect of a fragmented sd card wld cause those issues. I've had the clock issue using fancy widgets and cldnt find the cause. Is that something than can be rectified without formatting my card. Where and what are diff roms putting on the external sd card besides the android secure folder. Sorry I'm pretty ignorant re: flash media fragmentation. Doesn't make sense to me brains.

Was browsing the Android Forum on XDA and happened to run into a thread about a program called Ram Manager. Its getting pretty much rave reviews in the thread and market so I decided to give it a try. I don't want to get ahead of myself but my Nitro is seeming to run much better with it. Just thought I would pass it along to my fellow Nitro users to see if you guys think it makes your phone better. There is a paid and free version on the market at
https://market.android.com/details?...WFydHByb2plY3RzLlJBTU9wdGltaXphdGlvbkZyZWUiXQ..
The thread on XDA can be found here

UPDATE: Ram Manager requires ROOT
I have no connection with this developer and just want to pass a possible lag fix down to the community.
What the heck, $2 wasn't going to kill me, so I bought it.
Only been running it about 10 minutes but I've been opening and switching back and forth to my most commonly used apps and so far it's been pretty much instantaneous. So far so good!
Thats what I thought also. Posted here because I wanted to make sure I wasn't nuts. I bought it too. Like to support the devs here.
guys is this something you have to start up manually after each reboot? i restarted after an install and didn't notice it running in my app manager... thanks!
ive got it running, seems ok. i think at this stage we're dealing in millisecond differences, lolz.
i think i saw a bigger difference in things when i installed juice defender ultimate and set it up properly.

You do not have to start it up after each reboot. It adjusts memory scheduling parameters and they are saved after each change made.

Ram Manager changes memory settings on your phone (memory scheduler settings that prioritize certain appliciations and set the timeouts for applications before they are cleared out of ram) that persist through reboot. When you change your ringtone, do you expect to see a ringtone service running after every reboot?
You guys are so spoiled! The phone is lightning fast (as soon as you get rid of the laggy stock launcher). How much more fast do you need to be satisfied?
/me gonna try it now too...
thought on this so far? how are y'all figuring out if it makes an impact or not? i've been running it for several days now and disabled it this morning to see if i notice a diff

Ram Manager is executed After Startup, but all it needs to do is change memory settings, then it ends.
i've been trying to confirm that it *kills* apps that are running that are not being used. have several running all morning that haven't been used.
Hello,
im enjoying my HTC One X for the last 3 months with no problems so far until 2 days ago i wanted to copy some movies on the phone. before this i had aroung 7GB free on the device and the movie was @4gb.
once the copy was done my phone started to be veeeery slow and at one point showed me the "android.process.acore is not responding" error.
i have scanned the phone and didnt find any bad sectors or so. once im deleting the movie and going below the 7gb the phone is starting to act normally.
i know that a factory reset might solve the problem but i dont think this is case here since above 7gb free i didnt have any issues.
did any of you had this type of problem so far or do you know what might cause this?
Have you flashed a custom ROM or are you using it out of the box?

Whenever I get the message you got in the opening post, it means I flashed a ROM incorrectly. For out of the box I have no idea why you would get that.
Did the system update go OK? No glitches?
If you disabled some system apps from application manager enable them again
If nothing else works, try to factory reset the phone. It will delete all app data (not sd card) but will reset any change you might have made.
(Alternative, if you are rooted, clear dalvik cache partition)
This is unacceptable. It happened to me too. I've just finished copying a 4GB file and I suppose I was left with aroung 1GB free and the phone simply freezes with response times of around 30s. i.e. I touch the screen, and after 30s the command is executed.
Somewhat the internal memory is being scanned or something like that and when free space is very low, it just freezes like this.
Really? From an HTC flagship phone which costs 600€? REALLY?? I mean, they advertise it has 32GB, it doesn't, it has 25GB and you can't even put 25GB of stuff inside because it gets outerworldly slow, so you have to leave at least som 4GB free, so in the end of the day this piece of crap has 21GB usable!
Well done HTC :good:
