[ROM] 2-4-10 WM 6.5.5 Build 24001 (MetroPCS) for Vogue by egzthunder1 - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hi Guys and Gals,
Here is my newest ROM...
This is rather experimental since no one really knows what M$ did new in this new branch...

Change Log
First Revision...
*MetroPCS as default carrier. I was going to make it generic, but I cannot find my Generic module anymore
*Office Beta 2010 (latest)
*Windows Live 10.7.0061.0500.2000
*MSL Grabber
*Adobe Reader 2.5
*CleanRAM 1.9.3
*M2DC
*Chome Editor
*PHM Regedit
*RSS Hub
*Slide2Shutdown
*New Version of Opera 10 Beta
*M2D Citi Weather Editor
*Total Commander
*Removed Widgets
I have added NetCF3.5 in the UC Folder because it did not come as part of the SYS for some reason. Also, as always M2D is in the UC for those who simply don't want it.
Note: As per Barogi's post, NetCF is already cooked in the rom by default. So, after unpacking my .rar, go into the UC folder and delete the NETCF3.5 cab. Thanks for pointing it out, Barogi!
Note: After downloading, dump the XDA_UC folder to the root of the SD card and flash. Once it is done flashing, hard reset the device. Let it do its initial set up and soft reset. Upon second boot, a pop up will come up saying that it will install the apps in the UC folder. Click on OK and it will look like it isn't doing anything for about 10 minutes. Once it is done, it will say that it has finished and that you can reset if you want... do it!
CDMA Home Weather Fix attached
Instructions for Weather Fix:
Before installing the cab, select your weather in the M2D weather tab and update it to get the reading. Once you are done, install the cab and soft reset. All done

Hey just to let you know... the new PPCK now includes .netcf 3.5 into the builds so now theres not an option to have it cooked in, it just includes it anyway. What i had noticed with Build 24001 was that the messaging app was glitchy when going in and out of conversations, it might have just been my rom though.. other than that it was really quick.

can u post some screen-shots ? is it the same as all the other branches ?

Sorry, no screenshots this time. The UI is exactly the same, there is no change whatsoever as far as graphics. This is just a newer release. If I were to put Barogi's screenshots next to screenshots of this rom, you would not be able to tell the difference.

I guess that explains why I did not see it as an option in the kitchen anymore. I ended up including it since I have seen this issue being random, depending on what build I was using. For instance, I made a 23518 (which I never released) and that had it as an option in the kitchen... well, you get my point. Thanks for letting me know about this!

Bugs
*Dialer shows a scroll bar on the side... I have tried many dialers in my roms and all of them do that except the stock dialer. If anyone knows a fix, I am open to suggestions

We are (at least I think), using the same packages for M2D, with the same skins. I am thinking of re-posting the pics of my 28014 rom since they look exactly the same...

You are right about it. The theme is different (I can't remember what I put in mine though).

Glad to see you coming out with new releases. You might want to change the title of your post to 2/4/10.

"reply all"
Could you please cook a rom without the outlook enhancements which cause the "reply all" issue?

Opps, thanks for pointing it out...

After downloading I do not see a XDA-UC folder. Was it supposed to be in the rar or what? Sorry this is the first rom ive downloaded with the UC Install.

Love the Rom for the most part. Fast, seems very stable. Question tho; is the opening book sequence hard coded into the Rom? It's great if your customizing the Rom for yourself, but I would prefer something more.....well let's just say different

The folder is there. You are probably just opening the file and extracting the files by themselves rather than extracting everything to a folder. If you have winrar, simply extract the whole archive and you will get a folder named BuildOS with everything in it (including the XDA_UC folder).

I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand what you are asking here. What is the "opening book sequence"? Also, what do you mean by "I would prefer something more.....well let's just say different"? Different in what sense? Do you want more apps? Less apps? Cooked in? Different customization method?
The reason why I cook my roms the way I do is because I have seen Chefs literally wiping out a crap load of variations of the same rom because they try to satisfy everyone's requests. I personally don't have the time to do such a thing, so I leave it to the end user to put whatever they want in their roms, with a few exceptions (I just do the cooking ). You will always see people asking for different browsers, different UIs, different versions of... well, everything. Unless I see a trend or a consensus to put something specific in the rom, I will likely not cook it in. That is simply my way of cooking ...

I am sooo sorry. I've had a small stroke, and my spelling/typing is not what it used to be: I meant boot, not book lol. And I was not asking for you to cook a custom rom: I know your a busy man: ( I was thinking yesterday you must be God, your everywhere on here lol). I was inquiring about the opening two screens, which are fine, just not what I would like to see. I boot my phone up once in the AM and then whenever it freezes or acts funky (which USUALLY occurs when I'm trying to show how awesome it is lol) and I would like something more professional looking. If the opening sequence is something I can hack without having to cook a rom I'd like to give it a go; if not, oh well. So far love love what you've done; phone is fast, has few lags, and seems super stable. So I'm not asking for you to cook a custom rom, just looking for info.

I see...
Well, I believe that you can disable the startup animation via Advanced Config. As far as the bootsplash, there are ways of changing it. The initial screen involves replacing a file in \Windows called "welcomehead.96.jpg" (I am talking about the FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU image )
The other two, I am not too sure where they are located, but I will try to make one with more "standard" boot screens... (I know mine aren't what someone would call "professional", but then again I do this for fun and coffee )
I will cook another one and post it (maybe later today).
BTW, you mentioned a few lags... Where exactly do you see these?

1) Messenger and Live Integration
2) Live Search!
3) X-Button (although, I don't like it personally )
4) Removed Cyberon
5) BIG STORAGE!

Awesome rom
Stable and all included
Nice work
I cannot unlock Ext flash with this rom, it was accesable on Dutty's rom
Hi Chamelion any possibility to put a link for this rom, in another friendly site like megaupload, I also don't like rapidshare at all. Thanks
So far great ROM..
Thanks for not including cyberon vc it makes it much easier to get ms vc going.
Everything else seems to work just fine, but voice dialling ain't working (Error opening the short cut). This same happened with lvsw's version (and with Black 3.0).
How do I fix this?
[edit]
Never mind, just installed Cyberion Voice Dialer.cab

got an even friendlier site called zimuhost.getmyip.com
there's a high speed HTTP mirror posted in the forum that the original posters link links to. i'm anti rapidshare, hence me starting up the file hosting thing!
I found another problem, that I never had before When I change anything via control panel Today, then nothing really happend, only after SR.This is odd, because if I want to use SPB products, then I must SR device each time, I make any changes. Till now I did not read or search on forum about this problem (or if somebody actually have same problem as I), I going to flash device again only if problem did not dissapear, then I start looking for answers.
PS: with original LVSW last version this problem was not.
/update\
now I find some posts about this prob here till now, no sollution.
For those of you who want ms vc over headset.
Its probably best to not have the headset paired so unpair it and just add it after all the steps.
1.) Install MS VC 1.6
2.) Install attached .cab
3.) In programs launch BT Voice Command Config
4.) Check enable
5.) Click save
6.) Click Exit
7.) Turn off phone
8.) Turn on phone
9.) Pair bt headset
I take no credit for this program it was done by XCSdM and later modified by ZaJules..
This works perfect for me no other tricks or reg edits zilch, nada, nothing. You might want to set voice command to button 5 though.
Is the x-button works like it should with elf version? I mean does the exclusive click working & what build is in this ROM version? thanks in advance
today not refreshing only after SR
For those who have problem with Today settings, this is reply and solution from LegolasTheElf copied from his forum - thank you
"It's looking like that today screen issue is caused by the X-Button. To remove it, go to the Remove Programs settings applet and remove it. Because of the way this ROM is built, you can remove my additions I'm actually going to be building my ROM's in a different way than anyone else--by using mostly CABs to do the customization rather than imbedding into the ROM itself. IMHO, this is a better design as it allows people to customize their device, and reclaim storage space if they don't like the items I've included in the ROM "

Well, I WAS going to wait for a newer 1774x rom, but, given the fact that this ROM is working so well, I see no reason not to continue to use 17913 to cook my ROM..
So, hang tight for some new Elfishness in the coming days

[Elise.12 - Update] New UltraLight-Mod based on official Dopod release !!!

Since I recognized LE versions have much better performance, I decided to grow my own stripped ROM, based on the new official Dopod WWE ROM.
The purpose of this ROM is NOT to have an out-of-the-box-everything-inside ROM for daily use. It's been stripped to gain maximum performance. Everything one needs additionally, one has to install manually.
It's name is Elise and here are
Elise's Core Features
What will you get?
Ultra Slim Mod of the last official Dopod Release (Build 17944.0.3.1).
Free Storage: 65.5 Mb
Free RAM (on cold boot) : 30 Mb
It's fast: \windows-directory read-time < 1s (after cold boot, not cached or tweaked! for even more performance use JJ's Pimp my Black Tool). Just before someone is wondering again: Yes, this is indeed a kind of system performance measurement.
What it does NOT have:
Office
ClearVue PDF Reader
User Feedback (and related SQM stuff)
Autoupdate
"Clear Storage"-Tool from Control Panel
MS Live Stuff
!!! >>> MMS Support <<< !!! (Does anyone use MMS?)
Games
Java
Streaming Media Player
VOIP
Transcriber
BT-HID Drivers, BT-USB Drivers, USB-HID Drivers (Note: USB and bluetooth is still working, of course, just those WM6-generally included subdrivers are removed)
Help (After a couple of testing hours it seems to be no issue.)
What's else DIFFERENT from the official ROM:
Standard Dialer is replaced by Marshall's Orange Dialer (Black Skin files will be uploaded soon and could also be extracted from Marshalls cabs). It's located in its own subdir.
Standard Patches like Bypassed Welcome, No Batt/ConnMgr-Icons in TaskTray, No Certifcates-Warning
HTC TaskManager 1.5 instead of 1.0
Own Theme
What does ist have ADDITIONALLY:
Nothing
Known Issues [Elise.12]:
Surfing through IE is not possible. URLs are not recognized as valid.
There are hidden ringtones, that can't be chosen in ControlPanel. Will be deleted on next release, to gain another 250kB of storage.
Revision-History
.12:
FIXED: Button 5 is linked to an non existing shortcut. (Mapped to fileExplorer)
FIXED: Notes Icon still there but app not working. (Removed)
FIXED: Incoming Call Ringtones can't be changed. DialPad beep can't be changed/disabled.
IMPRVD: Another 0.6Mb Storage
--> Download Elise.12 <--
Screenies:
thx! good work
Blah you should have at least left streaming media in there.. lol
it's the naked lunch ROM... for the best cook in tha house...
* Office
* MMS Support
* Streaming Media
* BT HID Drivers
* BT USB Drivers
* USB HID Drivers
can u remain these stuff??
That should be tasty
I'll try it tomorrow - looks very good.
nice work though not sure office should be removed since most hermes users have this phone as a mini laptop. I'm sure its fast! you won't have any issues with leaving the help app in although I recommend removing it completely
This ROM is screaming fast. Was getting worried that WM6 was always going to be sluggish on my 8525.

They don't care because no "normal" person ever does it. They should do the "hidden for your protection" trick a-la Windows XP, etc.

1. Yes that's absolutely right. And that's the reason I removed nearly everything I could. And you will notice that this also will affect the overall OS performance. (There are some threads in the forum discussing this.)
2. Well, I think that you guys are smart enough to install the apps you really need on your own. Make sure that you don't spam the windows folder again.
3. No, I'm not going to release any cabs of the things I kicked. Sorry, really got no time for that . Office, Streaming Media and such stuff could be found in the forum. If you need the drivers and MMS, you need another ROM.
Wrong file on rapidshare!!!
Warning, unfortunatelly I upped a wrong file after the .11-Update. I therefore removed the download link. I'm currently fixing this issue. Just in case your ROM didn't work as expected.
The correct files have been upped again and are ready for download. See 1st post.

3. I'm sorry, but really didn't want to make you cry. This ROM is just an offer, there are enough other approaches that would work for you.
4. I don't know why people are complaining. This thread is titled ULTRA-LIGHT MOD. What the f*ck do you expect?

Im really not intending to be a jerk, but you asked for critique, and now appear to be surprised it isn't flying off the shelves, so to the point, you post a ROM you cooked, which has apps inside you appear to know nothing about, magic ss..and since when is "glossy black bars" an app, and then don't even really post much info about it, other than its bloated..that's besides the point that I myself don't think I could even bare to tell someone I was running a rom named "Mr Bloaty".
If you want more downloads, you're going to have to put a little more effort into it...maybe some version info/screenshots, instead of just throwin up a download link to what appears to be a bloated turd that you and your friends though up after a few too many beers..or something one night.
Sorry if I sound rude, just calling it as I see it.
IIRC Glossy black bars is a small utility that appeared in some of the Black Roms.
Also, should you want a very heavily laden ROM, I would suggest that using Pandora's kitchen would be the way forward. (Choose what you want)
You don't give much info on what you have done to the ROM - but as you say you are new to all this, it will not fill people with confidence and tempt them to try it.

Ahh my bad, ty for the info on the app, had always just done it manually myself, or rather nowdays I just have a shortcut and HW key mapped to an exported reg value.
basically i used pandoras kitchen, and added virtually all the apps included, there are a few people like me who dont want a lite rom, i like a rom with quite a few apps included, I dont enjoy a few beers with mates, i like looking round for apps and sharing this, and many other ppc sites with every ppc owner i know, so i thought i would do a basic (i know only the basics what i read on here and the wiki) rom, yeah its not up there with the gods (schaps, jasjamming and the rest) but its my contribution to this forum
As for calling it MR BLOATY, its full of bloat.... mr bloaty is only the name of the rar file.
Its based on the Tmobile 3.60 rom (so i been told)
Im sorry that i have not added more info on the rom, or screenshots, all i know it runs pretty nippy, you will have to add your own internet settings, and if you want office, you will have to add the .cab yourself
Again, im a bit of a noob round these parts, i basically had a good read of the forum on how to use pandoras kitchen, studied all parts of the rom, constructed it, and converted it to download.
I dont mind if you download or not, its just my contribution here
its been downloaded 27 times too. so at least my work not being wasted
OK - I don't think the aim of the posters here ( me included) was to put you off sharing your efforts, rather to enable more people to try it.
Just add the following facts to your first post:
ROM created using the Tmobile Test Rom version of Pandora.
The following applications have been included :
.....
.....
.....
No other changes made to the ROM
Doesn't include Office (Will need to install using cab)
Will need to add own network settings
OS only upgrade (I assume this is right?)
Seems to run fast and no issues noticed to date (Again, is this correct)
And that should be all we need to know. Keep up the good work!
ok, thanks for that, will upgrade first post....

[Updated: Oct 16th,08] NRG MiniWeather 1.2 !

Hello everyone. I've been working on this project today and I'd like to share my work. This is the mini version of NRG ChomeWeather 3.1... MiniWeather 1.0.
It's only got ONE layout and that's a 5 day layout as seen in the screenshots below. It's portrait device compatible so feel to install on Tornado's and such. This version also hopefully corrects the problem people have been experiencing with the phone locking up while the keyboard was locked and the weather app was updated.
This version also has a solid autoupdate routine that hasn't failed me once in the last 3 days.
All in all, I believe this is a rock solid version and I've tried to anticipate any bugs that may occur. Think of this as a light version of NRG Weather 3.1, as it's only 2 megs in size.
However, I will stop development of the old 3.1 version and just improve this. I hope you like this... and please report any issues. Thank you.
A few words for the newbs... After you install and reboot, please set your location code in the Options. Then update.
In order for the detailed forecast panels to show updated information, the phone HAS to be rebooted. There's no way around this... YET. I'm currently
working on moving from the CTestUIPanel to another panel, but not ready to do so... yet.
Features:
- Autoupdate according to Yahoo servers' time + 10 minutes + 1-5 random minutes (so we don't all hit the server at the same exact times)
- Update in 15 minutes when no connection is found.
- First forecast day info comes from Yahoo... the rest from weather.com
- Verbose status information as the script is running.
- Minimal set of icons to save space.
- Detailed Forecast panels can be turned off in "Advanced Options"
- Application will not automatically refresh the screen while the phone's keypad is locked.
- Built-in leftover notifications removal tool, in case you want to uninstall. See "advanced options".
October 18th - 1.2 Release
- Twice as fast current forecast download.
- Only one layout supported.
- Revised layout and removed the monitor, for now.
- Blue / black backgrounds behind the temp and hi low indicators, actually follow the official sunrise/sunset of the location selected.
It updates in 15 seconds or less now...
etc...

This is a preliminary release of MiniWeather 1.3 with support for the new 20279 core which has a different Chome platform. This version is NO different than 1.2 and it ONLY works on the "Rose" based ROMs, including my own Excalibur version.

Non fully tested yet, so if there's any bugs, let me know. Oh, you might have to go to homescreen options and pick one of the MiniWeather layouts
Reserver for later...
Looks Really GREAT!
Thanks! You're the man.... I am really loving it.
Good job man, and did you get your account back the NRG one... so you dont have the organic one anymore?
Seems like it.....

Good work man. You always have been really good at putting together a nice, clean package and no different here. Glad to here your planning on moving forward from testui and feel free to use any ideas we might have introduced. I think there's room for all of us here, and that's cool the way you made blue/black deal to reflect time. Great idea!
Looking goooood!
Great job Org (sorry, NRG). Works great. Really simple to use (as it should be) and awesome looks. The only thing I found is that for some reason it doesn't show low values on cTestUI. It's been happening since a couple of versions ago on my device (although I've uninstalled before installing this new one). Here's a SS of what I'm talking about. I think maybe it's some residual reg values or misplaced pics.
Anyway, it's a great app. Thanks for all the hard work
Hi NRG/Org.....
As usual your work is wonderful, this version works like a charm and seems that my phone has about 1 Mb more of memory free, thanks for your amazing work, waiting for your new version without the testui panel......

Well I figured out what the problem was. The script wasn't equipped to handle single digit temperatures Now it is and the second post was updated with a new cab. You can just use the attached "patch" cab if you've already installed the application. That way you don't have to reinstall everything. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Glad you like it. I put a lot of effort into this to make sure it's perfect and so far it looks like there's no issues after 70 downloads and no bug reports Hey, do you guys need a cab made for outerdepth's mod to my app ?

I made them a .cab file for their app already. Only thing i couldnt seem to do ( and i don't know why) was integrate mortscript into the .cab. I followed your .cab structure for mortscript.exe and it never worked. Hopefully showaco will post my .cab shortly and if you want to you can take a look at see if you can integrate mortscript into somehow.
It's easy really. Mortscript only needs two references in the classes section of the registry to tell windows how to open "mscr" files and of course the mortscript.exe file... copied somewhere on the device. I chose \windows for my cab files

see thats weird. i tried that and it didnt seem to work. i added the mortsript reg entries in the HKCR section and everytime in stalled the app and tried to run his weather options.mscr file it said that cannot find file or one of its components.... once i installed the .cab withouth mortscript and installed the mortscript.cab file posted on his thread it worked fine.... weird.
Simply.....Amazing.
anyway to let it auto-disconnect the GPRS after update?
I could make it an option...
what is the 21XX number of the normal clock png icon? i don't have it anymore after doing a series of uninstalls and reinstalls etc.
Hey DUDE!
I am seconding what Showaco said. I really like the way this looks. I am glad you started using the clock panel too. Maybe we can collaborate on some ideas in the future. I sent you a pm last night, so if you didn't check it yet, check it. I hope all is well in Orgville and have a great day, bud.

This thread will tell you which ROM to choose.

HAHA that got your attention huh?
I just thought I'd start a thread for people who might be considering upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1. You should post why you like a certain rom, which features you like, and what could be better.
Since (and I am pretty sure on this) that all of the builds are based on "chunks" of the OS taken from other phone's distributions, there isn't a "hermes specific" guide to improvements that these newer OSs give the user.
So if you feel like it, post away. Hopefully if anything, this will serve as a basis for which rom to choose.
Please don't spam the thread with posts agreeing with other users. I didn't intend for this thread to be a discussion. Try not to post based off other posts, and please
DON'T QUOTE ANYONE!
This means if someone says "I like schaps because its purple and neat looking", don't post "YA IT SURE IS". Just post AGAIN stating that it is purple, as well as what else you like about it.
Reserved for future use
ROM: CRCs STABLE (v11.2; 17-Jul)
This is a great rom to use. Battery life is excellent, and my phone never hangs / crashes. (hence the stable). I like that it accepts dialer customizations (3G dialer from the kaiser for instance) without making you go through a graphic nightmare trying to get it to work.
I *have* noticed some WIFI issues however... Not being able to connect to networks that I KNOW are open. It will say you are connected, however you won't be able to transfer. This however is only a very rarely encountered issue, and usually at WIFI hotspots in restaurants and hotels. It ALWAYS works on my home network.
Rom seems on par with most when speed is considered. It is not either slow, nor exremely fast. Quick enough to do most any task with less than a 1 second wait.
I would definately recommend this rom for use by anyone who is considering their first upgrade, or anyone who wants a very useable rom with a good basic set of programs and tools.
Thank you for bringing this up
Personally, I would say CRCinAU's roms have been the benchmark for other chefs to 'match' or 'better'
These days abusalza is that chef. Again these are my personal opinion, you really NEED TO FLASH ALL THE ROMS, to find what you like and what you don't.
No one can tell me what I will like and what I won't like, as it is down to preference.
So, in other words, .... this thread is pretty useless
in here is a link to rom benchmarks (great job be veyka) to assist U:
>>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419158
Why did you post that? tell me, is there anywhere out there where there is a "consumer reports" type of ROM review?
Rom choice is.. very much what you like.
I can tell you from exp, and I have flashed almost every rom here, as im sure many other people can, that its the ONLY way to know what to use.
There isnt a bad rom, just one that isnt right for you.
since joining this community, i have flashed many roms. I have flashed almost every release during that time, it would exceed 100 roms.
now, what i have noticed is that it doesnt matter which rom i chose, i end up putting the applications on it which i like. Some of the roms have these and others do not. so really, find what it is you like, get the cabs for it, and almost all roms are the same.
there is the stability and speed of roms which is different. but with a 400mhz processor, the speed is barely noticeable unless you change the pagepool.
There is one rom that i always return to when i am away for a while, being Berds 4.31 SS
I find there is a huge difference in speed and battery drain between different WM6.1 roms.
I would personally hold up CRC and PDAcorner as the best two out there atm.
(main difference is if you like your rom vanilla or not)

Hmm hardly a 'consumer' report, as most of them don't donate, may be you should call it 'free loaders report'

btw, on that note. WM6 is WM6, whatever device its on, each rom comes with diffrent stuff cooked in..
Same goes for 6.1.
Its also quite easy to tell if the roms your cup of tea from the thread and screenshots, eg, does it look loaded, lite, comes with HTC home ect!

I reccommend
learning how to cook your own! it's pretty freaking sweet when you can do your own preferences to your rom in the oven and then flash it! I've been flashing wm6 and 6.1 for a while and just started and i'm not going back man!! Flash and learn!! do it! ;0

well dude,
I hate to send people on wild goose chases.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415198 has a rollup on very useful stuff.
bepe's kitchen is in there download and read the entire thing.
download every hermes kitchen you can find and just start messing with stuff.. RGU's are all registry entries. modify and open xml's to see what they do. and just start poking around, eventually (3 months) you'll get a working almost stable build! Every change you make be sure to note it incase you need to go back and correct.. Also note what you did to fix stuff.
Then when you have questions PM and i'll try and help as much as i can but i'm still new.
Or search and bug the crap out of people. at least thats how i did it.
Also the Hypercore kitchen has a good manual with it.. On porting, the noob way for porting is easyportoven, otherwise search xip and sys porting and there is a nice thread on it..
The rest is just trial and error.
