How to enable alphabetic sidebar for contacts?

Hey all,
in WM6 there is (on some roms) a slim "sidebar" next to the contact list with A-Z on it.
It helps you navigate quickly. Does anyone know how to activate it? A friend of mine had it but accidentally disabled it, now we cant figure out how to enable it again.
If you do not know what i am talking about, you can see it on this picture (second row, second column):

It's called Random Access and you can search for it in the foruns now

why arent this showing on your rom while in text message contacts? Theres not even the top alphabet? is this a bug? perhaps wrong thread to discuss this, but...

To disactivate the old "letter-bar" at the top of the screen you have to click: Menu-->Options-->unflag first option...

Thanks for the tip.
However, my Random Access bar only works 70% of the time. The rest of the time only a simple scroll bar appears.
It seems to work more often if I launch Contacts then fully exit and re-launch Contacts a second time. Wierd.
Anyone else experience this?

i installed this, but the vertical alpha list bar does not work.
i do not even see the app under program window. do i need to invoke this?
how do i make this work??

Forums not refreshing properly

I notice that the forums don't load after I post... and that it doesn't update my thread views like normal... for instance it tells me a thread is new even though I have already seen it.
Anything change in the past couple weeks?

I get this sometimes. To Fix it:
Log out and clear all your cookies (even though log out tell's you they are all cleared). If you using Firefox 3, click the Icon to the left of the address bar, the click More Information, Security Tab, View Cookies, and remove any remaining.
Somethings have changed, but this problem occured before and after the changes for me.

I noticed I am not being sent to redirection pages... I think this is part of the issue... I will PM Flar

I sometimes get this. Often hitting refresh seems to fix the problem.

I'm getting the message on my Treo, something along the lines: 'a script causing device slow may become unresponsive'

ahhhh, I was already PM'ing with neoobs whilst dave was nice enough to relay all of this in the mod forum , if no-one objects in the next 24hrs, can I close the thread?

Hrm, big bump in the road:
the thing causing the quick reply function not to work properly is a google ad. I removed it because I thought that it was an old, incorrectly working ad on the wrong location. But it turns out it's our ad hack that supplies us with 2/3's of our monthly income.
Now let me get this very straight: we are not in this to get rich, the current ad income is enough to keep xda-dev running but losing 2/3 to gain a correctly working quick reply function, will get us into serious money problems very soon.
So the only thing I can do at the moment is break the quick reply function and enable the ads, whilst searching feverishly for a better solution.
I'm well aware of vbulletin.org so I will be searching my ass of there, and try every possible solution they have, but untill the time comes where I've found a working ad solution, I hope you can all avoid the quick reply function.
I'm very sorry to have to make decision, but I hope you can all see that this the lesser of 2 problems.

As far as i know.. its not possible this way.. while subscribing to you a thread you get options in browser not on app.. or in user cp you will find options..

Something like this is in the works, we hope to release it soon. Basically, when you are @ it will send an email to let you know.

Yup, just doing final testing before rollout, perhaps tomorrow or the next day it should be live. As long as we don't find any bugs.

MENTION EMAILS
Check this box if you do not wish to receive an email whenever you are mentioned in a post.
Disable Mention Emails
Dont tick the last option ... that will send you mail when someone quotes your posts..
Or copy paste the sentence in google translate and read it in your native language..

Question/Help XDA Thread Layout changed.... Hard to navigate...

Somehow my layout changed to where all the threads are not in order... It only shows 1 post at a time. I have to goto the top and click a link of each thread to load them one by one underneath.... I attached a pic to help show you what I mean. I cant figure out how to fix it at all. Can anyone help me?

Thank you so much!!! I dont know HOW it got changed, I just know it was DRIVING ME INSANE!!!! Wow i tried forever to find that setting!! I dont recall ever changing it to begin with tho! And I dont know why i can see deleted posts haha I did see a few like that while searching and it confused me if thats what it really was haha.

Maybe @MikeChannon can check this.

Curiously, this happened to me a week or two back. Changed from newest first to threaded mode all by itself, though actually the setting was still set correctly. Just had to resave the settings.
I'll report it to the backend guys though.

Right, ok, thanks. Actually as I remember when this happened to me, it said thread deleted top left on all threads so I don't think it is really showing deleted threads.

I've had this happen too. But for me, it seemed it was a specific mobile browser issue. I switched browsers and it was fine. Never touched my settings.
And yup, everything said deleted. Really confused me at first. Lol
And a note, going back to that browser after awhile, all was fine. Go figure.

BBCode for Youtube not working anymore. Bug or Feature?

Hi all,
I noticed in a lot of threads that the YouTube BBCode is not working anymore. A lot of posts/threads now look really ugly and became unreadable. Instead of the Video you now see the BBCode tag.
Example:
HTML:
[youtube]abcxyz[/abc]
Is this a bug or a feature? If its a feature why did you remove the YT BBCode and not convert the old Tags to links?
