Hi,
Yesterday Microsoft introduced in France Magneto and the device for the demonstration was Qtek 9090.
see : http://www.pocketpcparadise.com/
So i think this rom should exist soon :!:
Well, slap me in the buttocks. I hope someone can dump that ROM and get it for the rest of us!
Is it in French though? I'd hate to have to set my Pocket IE's homepage to http://world.altavista.com/tr.
am i missing something i dont see the picture.

There's no picture of the Qtek in the article (sorry but it is in french) but they say that the device for demonstration was qtek 9090, so i think the rom exists ! But i don't know if it's a french version, i don't think.
Merde, j'espère que nous obtenons le logiciel.
You can look here too (french) :

They're speaking about these new ROMS
It was the new HTC universal...
Read the article again:

Translated via Altavista:
While waiting, according to Laurent Dugimont, the first "Windows Telephones" will be marketed starting from the nearest re-entry, with for example PDAPhone HTC Universal which will be marketed near operators like T-Mobile or Orange. However, as of now, of the apparatuses of pocket are currently in the course of "test" with updates towards the new version of the system Windows Mobile 5.0. Thus at the time of the conference of launching of the operating system, this one was gild and already functional on PDAPhone Qtek 9090 but also on Smartphone SPV C500. However, according to Didier Burdinat, although these updates are functional, they will not be proposed, in a gracious or paying way, that in the case of the purchase of a specific licence at Microsoft. Thus, it will be with the various distributors of Windows telephones to choose a marketing policy related to such updates.

Why so sad? It says it is already functional on PDAPhone Qtek 9090. Functional means it works, Qtek 9090 means it's a Blue Angel-specific ROM. Now, we'll just wait and see which carrier or which manufacturer will push it out and the rest of us will get it one way or another. If i-mate won't release it, we can still rest our hopes on other GSM versions from O2, T-Mobile, Qtek, Orange, Siemens, or Vodafone and just adapt it for our own.
G-d Bless the XDA developers!!!! its so funny that all forums are hopeful for the upgrade from XDA rather then there carriers.
You guys Rule!!!!
People say it'll be a matter of months (development + testing + deployment). I'm thinking more on the lines of several weeks. As I said before, you have to consider the fact that they had to have been testing this on established hardware, such as the Qtek 9090 or the Dell Axim x50v. Theoretically, you can't develop software for a developmental hardware device and expect it to be an upgrade for current hardware, as there may be discovered issues that can't be reversed. The simple fact that it was demonstrated on the Qtek 9090 shows basic functionality. It is likely that they had to test their Phone Edition features as well. Whether or not all the extraneous CAB files on the Extended ROM will work is what will take the long haul. MMS? Caller ID? GPRS and Wi-Fi customizations? Album, Bluetooth, etc... You know how hairy it is already with the pre-WM5 ROMs we're playing with now!
However, I don't think we'll be seeing it on the official channels as of yet. Think of the marketing perspective of the hardware developer. If you announce features of a new software upgrade, it is a possibility that it could affect the sales of their future hardware in development. For example, if HTC strongly supported WM5 for all their current hardware, what are the chances that people who were looking toward the HTC Universal simply pick up an older, cheaper generation device from eBay and slap on a cheap WM5 upgrade?
Bottom line? I think it will be leaked, and mamaich will open the floodgates for every other Blue Angel device owner.
P.S. From the last post, it's glad to know there's another fellow Jew on this board.

BeyondtheTech, you are right , I got email back from Dopod/Taiwan , they said will not get WM 5.0 ROM for Dopod 700, they are prepare come out new phone MDA IV in 3Q for WM 5.0 ROM.
you can see here the Blueangel from medc2k5 demo powerpoint...
unfortunately can't see Himalaya picture on it...
aha so this is where you HoFoers are lurking  . MEDC had a demo HTC Universal with Windows Mobile 5.x on it. It didn't have any working demos of the Blue Angel or Himalaya. The Himalaya however was the first reference design to be integrated (it's so simple so less work). Dopod hasn't made efforts to upgrade their devices yet but for some reason, they have certain upgrades available depending on certain individuals.
I'm glad that MS decided to have the new APIs and integrated programming tools built into the new visual studio as well as the WM5.x OS. This simplifies things a LOT. I'm hoping to start using the new APIs soon.
Regarding XDA-Developers and WM5.x upgrades, kudos to the people that make this possible on here. We have cooked ROMs that outperform carrier ROMs. I have to say that I prefer our cooked ROMs opposed to Carrier ROMs. Those that are hoping for carrier upgrades, it IS possible, you just need to get more people willing to pay for the upgrade to provide incentive to carriers to do an upgrade.
Oh okie, I just saw the Blue Angel in the background. It's a stock image
But if I download it somewhere, can I install the WM2005 on my Qtek 9090?

I would not get too excited about iMate releasing a Win Mobile 5 ROM for their products per e-mail reproduced below. I know this relates to the JAM but you could expect that would apply across the range.
"I am sorry to tell you that we are not going to release Windows Mobile 2005 ROM upgrade for the i-mate JAM.
If you have any other queries, please feel free to contact me at any time, I will be glad to assist you.

I don't think anyone can actually be foolish to think imate, or any other carrier, will release a WM5 rom for the Blue Angel. They want us to have to upgrade phones, remember.
TheLastOne you are right, but all new pda has old problems and imate and others don't want to fix them... like OBEX absence over BT... all HTC pda's are without OBEX over BT...
Hi!
My friend has an MDA Pro, and he's fed up with WM 5.
Is there a way to get a PPC2003 ROM for Universal?
(I haven't found on FTP)
thanks
ahoj
to make it short: no
 yeah of course u can downgrade to WM2003 SE....
...u have just to believe in flying donkey...
:?: can u explain us why u want to downgrade to this ****ty OS??? :?:
BYE
I told my friend these bad news, and he's really sad now...
He's fed up with it's extemely low performance in everyday use
He's fed up with BT connection issues, application incompatibility...
He was hoping that this "little" thing is like the HP iPAQ hx4700, where you are able to downgrade to the "original, shipped" WM 2003 SE.
Well, all-in-all... NO.
thanks for the help
Zoli
why not???
is it becouse of the reolution??
ore is the chip set diverent
y have run windows mobile 2005 on my qtek 2020
bud y still love my diamond rom from
omegaone hey is a forum member this is the most stable rom y have ever used
y realy like to have it on my 9000
even if it means when the battery is dead y lose all my data
x back helps me running again
y hope some one takes the time to figure it out
The problem is that the Universal was designed from the ground up as a WM5 device, and so there is no "Original" ROM to downgrade to. There are quite a few posts on this already that go in greater detail.
My friend is interested about every solutions
(I know that the ROM area is different, as well as the chipset is. Apart from that, I really hope that there are some people who are developing it, like WM5 to Blue Angels.)

All these people work in Microsoft, and they would not bother porting obsolete OSes for a modern device. Better they'd make an upcoming WM 6.0 for our toy
Anyway you would not like Universal having only 32Mb RAM and 32Mb of object store. Or should I say 24 / 24 Mb.
All,
Just a quick note ... thought you'd be interested.
I contacted Dopod here in Australia, trying to find out when the official Australian D810 (with GPS) ROM would be available. I have also been requesting any details of whether or not Dopod would release WM6 for the D810.
The response on my query for the GPS ROM resulted in the following:
It looks like it is 4 weeks away.
We will also bring WM6 with GPS in another 2-3 months time for the D810.

How's that for good news!!
yeah!!
what a great news!!! althought I don't have a D810...
Great news....
Any one else can ask Dopod for confirmation about the wm6???
I'm not Dopod costumer...
Thank's...
You got this information directly from Dopod? Hmmmm, for some reason I just don't believe you.
Super, thanks for the good news
It looks like it is 4 weeks away"

thats was official reply or chat ! ! !
WHOA!!!! GREAT NEWS if confirmed!!!!
cool great news we will be waiting
Sounds like a duck to me, not very plausible.
But then again if true, then very very cool!
awesome news if true
Importer for Spain and Portugal convinced HTC will officialy release WM6 for Trinity in few months. No data on timespan known at the moment. Same source says immediate release of WM5 GPS enabled ROM (next week).
This was already said. Hope true.
this is good news
What did I say in the donation thread? If we pay a bunch of money (and I did, don't get me wrong), an official release will happen.
You know if we hadn't, they wouldn't have bothered... :$
Hope its true!
But in Portugal the importer its NovaBase, and when the dopod gps version cames out, i've contacted NovaBase to know if HTC was going to release a gps rom, and the tell that it would be released during the February month!....
So, las week i've mailed them again and said that February has passed, and no rom released.... than I ask if they have a prevision to release that and ask too if they will release this quipment with wm6..... they answerd that gps will be released but no time prevision and tell that dont have plans to release wm6!
It is not worry, if dopod releases it! I am using the gps rom for dopod d810 in my p3600 and it is great!

Exmo. Sr. Não temos uma data certa para existir a actualização de ROM. Deverá consultar o site da HTC Europa (www.europe.htc.com). Não existem planos para haver um upgrade de sistema operativo Windows Mobile 6. Cumprimentos, Equipa do Mobility Support

(7- march-2007)
Hope dopod releases it! (as soooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn as possible!)
Suspicious bunch arent you?
To put further context around the information I received:
The reply was from Dopod Support
I have been communicating with Dopod Support on a range of queries. In Australia, they were going to release an RSS Reader (which they haven't yet, but I was lucky enough to get a Test Version - it is just rebranding an existing RSS Reader available), and while I was asking I queried about:
GPS Australian ROM
Official RSS Reader Release
Availaibility of the Blackberry Client in Australia (which they have made available in other markets)
Whether or not WM6 would be made available, even for a small fee
I have now got confirmation from Dopod that the official Australian GPS ROM will be available in around 4 weeks
No confirmation as to the final release of the RSS Reader
No confirmation when the Blackberry Client will be available in the Australian market
Confirmation that Dopod will release WM6 for the D810 (Trinity) in 2 to 3 months
From my discussions with Dopod, it appeared that with there discussions with M$, M$ was apparently going to offer an upgrade installer for WM5 devices. My guess is that they have not provided it as Dopod wanted to provide WM6 via this channel, but as it is no longer happening I see this as the catalyst for providing it.
Take from this what you will, but I am very excited about this news from Dopod.
Nice!!!!
So..... lets wait!
It was nice too if HTC makes da same, But if doesn't make, we have de dopod rom!
Tks!
basically
dopod = HTC, cuz HTC bought dopod already.

Man thank you for this news, it seems that P3600 will be in my posession more than I previously thought an year for sure but as you may see there was MANY speculations about release versions of GPS and WM6 ROM's and none of them happens to be true, at least not for HTC branded devices and it is 6 (six!) months since original HTC ROM present in my P3600
BTW, I see you have some F1 action in couple of hours in your town, man I would give my Trinity to be there now
That's wonderful news assuming it's true.
However, I guess I'm going to be switching to the upcoming E-Ten X800 since it comes with WM6, VGA and (presumably a better than Qualcomm) GPS unit at launch.

Hey that x800 phone looks pretty cool.
I think you've convinced me to switch to that phone when it's released...
Hi guys. I have a hp ipaq hx2750.
Since my parents won't buy me ipod touch or other stuff,
I bought the hp ipaq hx2750 from my dad. (yes from my dad)
It's so old I was on the verge of throwing it away, then I was
introduced to Windoes Mobile 6.5.
So here's my question. How do I update my hp ipaq hx2750 to
Windows Mobile 6.5? Can somebody post a pic by pic guide?
If I jack my ipaq up I won't get another for sure. Thanks for
your help and time guys.
Also need some upgrading guidance.
Hello Guys,
I want to use TOM TOM 7 on my iPAQ HX2750 and since it doesn't work at present, I think upgrading from Win CE 4.21 to WM 5 or 6 might solve the problem. So,
1. Which is best? WM 5, 6.1, 6.5??
From other posts, there seem to be issues with upgrading such that codecs, rom, etc. need to be upgraded too.
2. Will I have to update additional software components in order to sucessfully install the new operating system?
3. Which components will I need?
Hope somewher, some1 will take pity and HELP
Thanks!

Hi Mr. Orb3000,
Is that to say I'll find all the info I need in the link?
Cheerio!

1. Which is best? WM 5, 6.1, 6.5??
A: That will depend on tastes, I like 6.5 but you need to have a powerfull device to really enjoy it.
I hope you find all you need!
Device Power
A helpful hint. My best guess is that the iPAQ HX2750 is one of the lesser powerful devices considering when I bought it in 2004 it came with win CE 4.21.
Will probably be a good idea then to opt for WM5 or 6.1 (at a push)
Thanks again!!!

Hello' guys
I am pretty satisfied with my 8502 with Wm6.1, Spb home and other appl, but there are still some minor issue that I overvome on my old Kaiser with Wm6.5 or even with a 6.1 cooked rom.
I see lots of people working, cooking, flashing different type of mobile, but no one on this 8502.
Nevertheless it is not a bad phone: Touch, querty, Gps, Wifi, Microsd... what else?
Since Imate closed, I think that lot of people have bought this phone due to the extremely low price, so many people could be interested in upgrading and developing a specific rom.... isn't it?
thanks

i-mate 8502: Anybody sells display or phone? /alguién vende pantalla o teléfono?
Good afternoon, folks
I was relatively happy with my i-mate ultimate 8502 till I dropped it and the display broke.
As I'm against buying new stuff if you can at a reasonable price fix something, I'm asking:
is anybody willing to sell almost altrusistically a display or even the whole phone? We could do it through the normal channels (paypal, google, ebay, whatever). Or in person, I'me based in Spain.
Warm regards,
Manuel
