just flashed my first manila 2.5 rom, with 28014, but the task manager is rubbish, doesnt close apps wit ha tap, and have to open the task manager to kill the app (so for battery longivity i have to use a quick link on homescreen for task manager) is their one tha tallows me to tap x to properly close the app? i did try the 23518 version, and dutty task manager and it worked, but then the 28014 rom was released and said to be more stable so am with that. but dutty task maanger doesnt work now (it works, but tapping x doesnt end app)
Anyone? please.

was looking for this a while back when i went to a 653 ROM too.
thank you, will try.
hi, this app seems to work sometimes, and "x" closes the program, and other times it is still eft running in task manager, (i removed the dutty task manager in case of a conflict) do i need to reinstall that to gain the "tap x to close programs" function?

Does anyone here know how to hide a program from the HTC task manager. For example i have a program like right menu running i cant close it from the HTC manager i used celetask to close it i want to hide another program the same way.
Sorry, no can do (unless you contact the developer and have them add the option)
Hi Guys, I'd like to have the HTC task manager in the top right of every program (except full screen obviously) in place of the "X". If I want to exit a program, I usually press the hardware "ok" button and keep it running in the background for fast loading later and keep an eye on memory usage with the top right menu. Is it possible to have the task manager always on in place of the cross?
Yes, that would be great. I did not find anything to get what we want, so far.
As a workaround, I used WkTask (http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html) which works well, and allows to switch easily from one running program to the other.
Waiting for a better solution, hope that this helps.

Best program iv found by a long way is Showcase. Works like a charm and looks pretty!
SPB Pocket Plus and SBSH both do as you ask... but the come at a premium
pbar works for me. "pBar is able to override the behaviour of the "X" button just like other task managers. In addition, there are a couple of handy shortcuts found on the popup menu. You can even add shortcuts of a couple ..."
I was looking for a task manager that show small icons on top bar.
i have installed WkTASK on my touch hd original rom
but it seems that TouchFLO 3D does not let it work,
then i installed Magic Button - the program is warking ok but does not fit
graphically the WVGA screen of the touch HD.
is there any new applicatin that is doing a combination of both WkTASK and
Magic Button (Task manager on top and program launcher)?

I used WkTask with Stock ROM, 3 Cooked WM6.1 and 2 WM6.5 and no problems at all.
Install WkTask, run WkTask then set TF3d (manila.exe) as "hide always".
I use WkTask too

yes that's the battery meter.
try going through the preferences in Wktask, there's quite a lot of stuff you can configure
The "top bar instability" is because you probably have HTC taskmanager working at the same time.. so it's trying to work out which app to open..
Disable the HTC taskmanager button function in settings/system/taskmanager.
I'm running Valyries Xperio 4.7 rom on my Xperia X1.
That uses the HTC task manager, and i want to be able to open it relatively easy in my home screen or with a softkey.
I set up the softkey, but that doesn't work since it returns an error, probably because it tries to open the standard task manager or something like that, and i'm not able to select the HTC task manager since its in the windows folder named TaskManagerApp.exe.
So i thought, lets make a panel in the home screen for the task manager with the CHome editor that was included in the rom.
I tried some things, but i'm not to good at that, can anyone tell me how to do it, or point me in the right direction?
I searched around, but i couldn't find out if someone had made anything similar before.
cheers!
I got the Sprint Touch Pro 2 a few days ago and unlike what I've read in this forum the task manager is not in the System folder. Also there is no Quick Menu.
It resides with all programs but is limited. I can't change the behavior to close programs when I click the "X" the way I had my HTC Touch set and the way it is described in many threads in this forum.
Anybody know if Sprint or HTC changed this phone? Is there a way to get the Task Manger back the way it used to be?
I'd just like to click the "X" to shut a program and know it's actually shut down.
It depends which version of WM you are using. If you are using the stock Sprint ROM, which will be WM6.1, then the X button settings are located here:
Start > Settings > System > Task Manager - Switch to the 'Button' tab; choose 'Enable the X button to end running programs'; select the 1st one 'End programs by tapping X.'
If you are using WM6.5 or higher, you may want to consider AMeBa (search).
Advanced Task Manager
I kept searching and found:
Advanced Task Manger put Task Manager back into Settings and gives me all of the features I was looking for.
