adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/

See you soon for other updates !

Trying to load one of these and get the following:
failed to copy 'C:\androidsdk\bootanimation.zip' to '/system/media/bootanimation.zip' : Read-only file system

NEVERMIND!! - Forgot to: adb remount
It shows that it loaded, but the boot animation has not changed.

I gave it a shot and it also loaded, but the boot animation also didnt change here... I'll double check if I"m doing something wrong !

Fantastic
These are awesome, thanks for posting

I have tried to push these to both:
/system/media
and
/data/local
and neither of them produces a new boot screen...
Any Suggestions?

what i did is made a folder named (bootanimation) and drop the one i like into it and zip it with winzip and now have a zip file called bootanimation.zip
and push it with adb. like this:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip hit enter your all done. make sur you put the zip file into the tools folder in you androidsdk folder

this would be awesome for 1.6 roms, is there anyway to do it?

I was trying to get Splash loaded up. I made sure that it was in /system/media/, but my bootanimation didn't change. I've got a blue Droid bootanimation that works just fine.

Good work. It works and my phone boots up fine. But the animation doesn't loop, it just plays it a single time and stops at the last image. Anyone has the same 'problem'?

How will this work with CM6? Since it is newer than Eclair can it also run these without problems?

[APP]hero lock screen wallpaper (updated-22/06/09) - now easier to change

made it easier to change the lockscreen wallpaper for you lot
image has to be 320x480 for it to look normal and has to be a .jpg
you have to have adb set up
instructions:
1. download and unzip the lock screen folder to anywhere you want
2. place your desired image into the lockscreen folder (make sure theres only one image here)
3. double click lockscreen.bat
4. wait for your phone to reboot with your new lockscreen image
http://www.zshare.net/download/61708386e89ec17c/
thanks to xidominicanoix image name doesnt have to be limited to 18 characters
Donate
this WORKS
my steps were:
1. download the file... unzip and open lockscreen folder
2. place an image 320x480 in this folder (The name does not matter, will be renamed in process)
3. Connect phone (ADB is required)
4. Run .bat file (ADB remount, rename, and cp to default_lockscreen land/port)
5. It will reboot on its own
6. SEE ATACHMENT.. Youre all done..
Is this a straight rip of it? Meaning it displays calendar, music and message notifications while locked?
this is for the hero rom only, as when you try and change your lock screen wallpaper the gallerly crashes. the only way to do it is through adb or terminal
i just made this to make things easier when i wanted to change my wallpaper and id thought i share it
That's what I figured, just wasn't clear. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

How exactly do you change the wallpaper manually? I have a 320x480 jpg that I want to use for my lockscreen wallpaper and named it Default_lockscreen.jpg and put it on the root of my sd. This is what I did:
Code:
# rm -r /system/etc/lockscreen/port/Default_lockscreen.jpg
# cp /sdcard/Default_lockscreen.jpg /system/etc/lockscreen/port/Default_lockscreen.jpg
Then rebooted. But it didn't work, it just shows no wallpaper when it should show the lockscreen wallpaper. What do I need to do?
just use the bat file i posted its quicker, if you want to do it manually you need to add the lock screen image to the landscape folder in /system/etc aswel
damn so easy, love it, good work...

this is not working for me,,,,,,
damn idk....
I dont know if I did it correctly... the cmd prompt only popped up for a split second it renamed the picture but did not reboot the phone...
Yes I have adb installed correctly. I use it all the time.
Does it matter where I extract the lockscreen folder? edit: ANSWER: it can be extracted anywhere. I have it on my desktop.
EDIT:
Fixed... for people with the same problem try rebooting your phone before you try this process. It works.
i posted how to fix this a few days ago...

There's a way but I'm not too sure of the codes. If you have ADB working for you on your pc this would be easiest. It runs all the commands for you then reboots your phone.
Hey, can someone post a nice little image so I don't have to go about making my own? Thanks!
Here is the lock-screen from the 1st 'superhero' build..as well as others. I will update as I get time and also I do not take any credit for these as they are not my creations.

Download update.zip
Installation
Be sure to make a backup of your old bootanimation.zip in case
you want to reuse it later again! First rename the downloaded
file into bootanimation.zip!
1. Place bootanimation.zip in the folder
Code:
/Android/android-sdk-windows/platform-tools/
then use adb from Android SDK:
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media or
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
2. Place the file on your sdcard root directory. Then use a
Terminal Emulator or adb shell:
Code:
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media or
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local
3. You can surely also use Root Explorer, or any other file management
app that supports root and move this .zip into system/media or data/local
This is not an updateable .zip. You can't flash this through CWM!
Looks very nice, can i push this using Root Explorer in system/media?

No, this is not supposed to turn black, instead it should repeat the last frames
again and again until boot has finished. Where did you put the file to?
The desc file should be correct. I will have a look into this.
AWESOME bootanimation (easily the best).. But like previously stated, runs only once
Hoping for a quick fix
here
/system/media
Okey, just a quick solution, I changed the repeat parameter to 10 repeats,
now it seems to work. If I put a 0, it doesn't even appear. Although there
seems to be some fps issues, the loop part plays faster than it should.
But it's already working very fine.
You can redownload it or use the link below:

rename the downloaded file to bootanimation.
Let me rephrase that please.
There is no "bootanimation" file anywhere in my SGS in system/media or data/local.
Nothing to replace there. So adding the one i downloaded from here to those locations did nothing for me. I did however find a "bootanimation" file in system/bin (23132 bytes).
Not sure if i should backup this and replace it. Any thoughts?
Did you watch out for bootanimation.zip? Did you rename the downloaded
file into "bootanimation.zip" and move to system/media? If it doesn't work for you,
you can try out replacing the one in system/bin, but be sure to make a backup.
For avoiding worst case scenarios you could also nandroid backup your system,
but changing bootanimations shouldn't mess up your device
Can you also tell me, if the animation is working smooth for you?
im downloading this puppy now hehe

[MOD][KE7] Gingerbread Stock 1% Battery - May 22nd

Opening this new thread, because the other one got way too crowded with many different files and modifications.
It's only a small mod and is based on pendos gingerbread battery modification, which he posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13659496&postcount=71
Thanks for providing them.
So this is basically a stock-battery-indicator with the percentage numbers added and the charging animation being smoother. No CRT effect, no other icons changed.

Note: THIS IS FOR KE7 ONLY!
Note 2: Backup the old file and activate USB-Debugging. Just in case ...
Install instructions
with ADB:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell stop
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
adb shell chmod 644 /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb shell start
with root explorer:
Code:
1. copy new framework-res.apk to /system/
2. change file permissions to rw-r--r-- (should be the same as for all files in system/framework -> check it!)
3. move new framework-res.apk to /system/framework/ and replace the old one
4. reboot
Copy your old framework-res.apk before doing anything, so you can go back if something goes wrong. You might encounter 2 or 3 force closes when replacing the framework. Click them away, finish the process (if you havn't already) and reboot the device. Everything should be fine from there on.
For me it works. Thank you!!
did not work on me,could not install it,got KE7
possible to integrate the crt effect as well? Thanks..
Thanks man it worked for me
How to install it???
I run it from "Root Explorer" and it says "application not installed"...
Do i have to copy it over the original "framework-res"???
Great thread, the other one "Greener SystemUI.apk" got way too messy. This could be a lot easier thread to look out for, given that people keep this strictly for the battery mods.
Any chance we could get a step by step guide for installing these mods in the first post?

I use Root Explorer to do all of this. Make sure you give yourself R/W to /system/framework & don't use the " "'s.
1. Copy Chalid's file to MicroSD card (you don't have to copy to your MicroSD, you can copy to sdcard if you want)
2. go to /system/framework & rename "framework-res.apk" to "framework-res.apk.old" (don't panic if you get some FC for some running apps)
3. go to /sdcard/eternal_sd & move "framework-res.apk" to /system/framework (don't panic if you get some FC's .......)
4. reboot
5. enjoy
remember to change the permission's to mimic the original "framework-res.apk".
Hi, worked for me but lost all my contacts. It seems that this process removes the Google sync account. After re-syncing all is well. Thanks!
Can this also been made for KE2?
I wanted to try pendos tutorial using adb on my pc:
adb remount
adb shell stop
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
adb shell start
I've already copied my original framework-res.apk to sd card as backup. When I type adb devices it gives my serial number as expected, but when I type in adb remount it says operation not permitted.
I've already flashed ke7 and rooted using chainfires kernel which is all working without any problems. Any suggestions?

Without a valid framework-res.apk in /system/framework/, even for a couple of seconds you spend renaming the files, the google account syncs will be deleted. So better replace the file right from the beginning and backing up the old before that, instead of renaming it.
1) I suggest renaming der new one in .new first.
2) copy to /system/framework.
3) check/change permissions of .new
4) rename old one in .old
5) rename .new
ALexander
that way, the google account information will be deleted.
Ignore

Works good. Thanks.
Please help ...
First of all: I am totally new in the world of Andriod.
I have not followed the instructions and now my SGS2 doesn't reboot. It got stuck on the Samsung Galaxy SII screen.
What have I done:
renamed original framework-res.apk to framework-res.apk.bak
(I FORGOT to copy the new framework-res.apk to /system/framework )
reboot SGS2
it got stuck on first screen
What can I do now??? Can someone please help me out? Thx
Decided to buy root explorer and it worked perfectly! Thanks

Here is a 1920x1080 version of the bootanimation.zip.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ciybr59yw5sjgrn/bootanimation_-_freedom1_-_1920_30fps.zip/file
(fixed zip file. was zipped with wrong compression. bootanimation files need to be zipped using compression method as 'store', not 'normal'.)
If there is any desire for a lower res bootanimation, let me know.
Here are the basic Windows steps to replace the bootanimation per
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-customize-the-boot-animation-on-a-rooted-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick/
adb connect 192.168.xx.xxx (your ip)
adb push c:\'directory'\bootanimation.zip /sdcard/
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
rm -f /system/media/bootanimation.zip
cd /system/media
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
chmod 0644 /system/media/bootanimation.zip
exit
exit
reboot FireTV
If you don't see an animation during boot up, the bootanimation file is not supported.
Freedom 2
Or another one.

Best bootanimation ever, but after installation (AFTVnews) firestick4k does not boot. Any idea?
adb shell "cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip"
adb shell "chmod 644 /system/media/bootanimation.zip

I did, by using chmod "0644" via terminal in TWRP. File has different attributes by viewing it with "7zip under Windows" ( all "store").
try to delete /system/media/bootanimation.zip an check if it now boots
stick boots, by displaying "android"
Ok than there is a problem with the zip.
try with my bootanimation
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachments/bootanimation-zip.5135003/
works, it's the nice "ATV11", the zip-file seems to be defect! I will try again with a new download.
Many THX
Fire TV Boot Lite New Interface
works fine on my firestik4k, THX
Thanks bro .
Used to work before but with newest firmware it seems something has changed. Did anyone got theese working again on stick 4k yet?
Okay i got it working again.
For anyone else:
If you have some magisk modules active check the file in the directory:
/data/adb/modules/"your module"/system/media/bootanimation.zip
and
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
you need to replace both zip-files in order to get the custom boot animation to work again.
If you often update and test your new bootanimation.zip then you may want to check my update script. Will be improving it from time to time to get a more fluid and fast way to update.
