No, I honestly don't, and didn't find it in a quick search just now.
Honestly, if you're needing to retain that volume of SMS messages, I would suggest using something like microsoft's free myphone which backs up your messages to the cloud and stores them for you there in bulk, for you to restore to your phone any view there anytime you want, or even view/manage them through a website from any pc. I do this, and only retain whatever sms threads I currently have active and recent, and all the rest I just store there for any future need to refer back to them. The SMS module in WM tends to get less stable the more messages you pack in there, so this is just a good way to keep the phone as lean and efficient as possible
EDIT: please note that myphone does NOT backup MMS, just SMS (and certain other folders as well)

hi
thanks, but its not SMS messages im refferring to but call log (phone calls)

Yes, you're right, and that's what I was originally suggesting that tool for, I got confused with another item I was searching for at the same time, sorry
That tool actually gives the following options for retaining the call log:
5000
10000
20000
30000
40000
50000
Maximum
hope that's enough for you lol

it is enough, but it doesnt work, reality is 300 entries even if i change to a larger number, tool dont change it

WM6.1 Threaded txt

For those of you who are playing with WM6.1 have you been messing with the threaded txt? I have used the troe version for so long I admit I miss some stuff.
Mainly the new threaded app doesnt tell me how many characters I have typed so I don't know when I have went over the 160 limit.. I have also noticed that sms backup doesn't seem to work correctly it backs up my txt messages and when I restore them they r missing and not threaded.
Another thing I like about threo threaded is MMS/SMS are all together instead of seperate..
Last thing is the txt don't have dates next to them. They have time but no dates. I like to scroll back and know what day and time something was txt to me.
Anyone else got any complaints?
Maybe some of these things can be corrected with a addon or something.
you can see how many characters at the upper corner.
I two think PALM did a better job.
I agree
Me myself being a Treo 650 owner and a hacked threaded sms user on my 8525 would have to agree the WinMo 6.1 threaded sms falls short.
No smilies
There is a short delay when sending msgs
No timestamp(with dates)
When restoring from PIM backup msgs are missing/ out of order....I can only see the msgs I've sent not the msgs I've received.
This may sound like a little nit-pickery going on but hell M$ has had a lot of time to get this minor detail right....

You can't be too surprised that MS half-assed this as they have half-assed every other Windows Mobile product for the last 5 years. MS doesn't care about Windows Mobile. Sad, but true.
I'm already messin with the ripped treo app again since it combines MMS/SMS together but the HTC Home Plugin shortcuts don't work after I install it..
Something simple so I'm gonna try another version of the htc today plugin and hope that it works..

I have a Wizard, but I think this will help you anyway.. You have to create a shortcut to \Windows\messagingapp.exe. I think currently, the HTC shortcuts (and even the button for me) was set to messaging.exe. After you create the shortcut for it and add it to your start menu, you should be able to map it to the button.

[Manila MOD] Permanently enable delivery reports for sms's sent from manila

Hello everyone
I've created a little cab which allows you to set option 'Request delivery notification' in manila permanently.
If your text messaging tab in manilla gets messed up just uninstall the cab and it will go back to normal.
Current 2.0 version was based on files from Dutty's V3.9 XT Turbo (manila 2) TouchFLO 3D 2.0.37911.3
There's a good chance that any TF3D 2.0 will work fine.
Manilla 2.1 version is based on files from Dutty's 4.3, TouchFLO 3D 2.1.38680.1.
It should also work fine on other versions of Manila 2.1.
Manila 2.1 version has an extra feature - the message text is erased only when you send a message - this way if someone calls you during typing or you want to check calendar, or some contacts details or reset your device or anything else you will not risk losing what you've just typed.
Usage:
Install and restart manila or device (whichever you prefer). After that go to People's tab, switch to text messages, press Menu->Message Option and enable request delivery notifications. Press Done and enjoy
Please note: this works only in manila, delivery notifications in default winmo apps have independent setting.

Initial release
Manila 2.0 changelog

FIX: contact's full name is displayed correctly

Looks very nice thank you!

It allows you to permanently enable delivery reports for text messages sent using manila. By default you have to enable delivery report request every time you send a message.
D'oh yeah, sorry for stupid question
I was looking for an enhacement, which shows delivery reports as system message (appears a floating popup from bottom of the screen and says delivered bla bla) instead of a text message for each sms. It's a bit annoying to receive delivery reports as text
You can try this software: http://www.jgui.net/smsreportseraser/index.html
It doesn't do exactly what you want, but I think it will be a step in the right direction for you. Unfortunately you need pro version which isn't free.

Well if you upgrade to Manila 2.1 whenever a delivery report comes in, it shows it with a pop up from the bottom and gives you two soft key options of Dismiss and Delete.
is there an update for the manilla 2.1 yet or not ??
shall i use this any way ?

Hi Guys,
i have testet it with manila 2.1 Revolution V1.5 and it works perfect.
For everyone who want's to enable it to cook in a kitchen use these reg-entry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Message_Delivery_Notify"=dword:00000001

Unfortunatelly it's not that simple
It works but only when my mod is installed.
And now a boring explanation for interested people:
Manila stores it's data in two ways which are described by following flags:
LIFETIME_PERMANENT and LIFETIME_APPLICATION
By default 'Message_Delivery_Notify' is stored as LIFETIME_APPLICATION so it's not read from the registry (dunno where manila gets it from in this case but I guess it's simply created on stack or dynamically allocated when you open the messages tab). A modification of LUA scripts is required to make 'Message_Delievry_Notify' as LIFETIME_PERMANENT. After that manila starts to look for it in the registry.
i tried it with duty's manila 2.1.38658.2 and it removed all the dates and times which are placed in the message history ... so i rolled it back ... it's a pitty ...
Hi,
does it works only with personal contacts ?
When I write a SMS to someone that is not registered in my phone it seems that the option is still not checked.

I think it should work fine as long as you use manila. I'll try to reproduce this issue when I get home on monday.
Btw: are you sure you were sending that sms using manila interface? You can't send an sms using manila to number which is not in your contacts unless you're replying to sms from him so maybe you just used default windows sms application?
I don't know
I don't know, I think I proceeded that way :
- go on the SMS tab (the last message you received is shown)
- touch the icon top right of the screen (near the name of the latest sender)
- now you have to type a phone number...
Is it Manila or Windows SMS application ?
I think you're right, it looks like Windows application.

T-Mobile Dash

I am buying a T-Mobile dash off ebay that has been flashed with Windows Mobile 6.1 from this forum. I use Myfaves to keep my cell bill low and I guess the version of 6.1 on this phone doesn't have it. Is there a version of WM6.1 that has myfaves that I can get a hold of or am I just going to have to downgrade it to WM6.0. Thanks for your help.

which goes to a non-working "solution" and a dead-link.
joshua couple things to know about myfavs u do not have to have the user interface for myfavs on your phone to be able to get the calls to those numbers free. those can be managed from the tmo site and as long as they are entered when the number is called or they call you it is free. secoundly the user interface is really just a fancy speed dial for those contacts anyhow and there are a few roms and apps that can duplicate what the myfavs UI does. Good luck.

Another solution is just to make a panel with my faves no.'s
As someone noted above, you don't need to have the myFaves interface on your phone in order to use it. I have 3 phones under my T-Mobile Account, and only my son's has the phone interface. You only need to make sure that it shows your selected myFave numbers on your account at http://mytmobile.com . This is where you can manage your myFave contacts instead of through your phone as well.
Thank you,
Tim

Yes, but it's not T-Mo's MyFaves application. It's just a panel where you can put ANY of your contacts as a "Fav".
As others have said... you don't need a MyFaves app on your phone to make free calls to the numbers you've selected as your Faves.

I was searching for this solution a while back. Just follow this link and install. Go to the TMO website and update your Faves and push back to your phone. As others have noted... the app is just a fancy speed dialer. Goodluck!

SMS for TP2. Implementation and new ideas.

Sms functionality is very limited on TP2. Should we install some 3rd party program like Vito or implement our own?
Anyone? lets talk about it
limited? what's so limited aboot it?
i think the sms/MMS is klunky to use. but this is coming from a smartphone user. im a noob to the ppc world
i think the sms/MMS is klunky to use. but this is coming from a smartphone user. im a noob to the ppc world but love my touch pro 2
Be more specific. What is klunky.
I will tell you what limited, in regular prog you cant delete individual msg, you dont see how many symbols you type and etc. SMS SUCKS at TP2.

cant delete individual msg? Turn off Threading (try reading the Tips and Tweaks thread)
Dont know how many symbols?? mine counts fine, ^ counts as 2 characters.. hmm.. IF by "regular prog" you mean in the TF3D reply window, then yah that doesnt have a counter.
Why do you need it to count text for?? If you need to type any more than 160chars, it will be sent as 2 messages.
anything else that you wanna consider as SUCK?
is this your first WinMo phone?
I personally don't like the TF3D SMS interface so I use good ol WM interface when I have a threaded message open. It shows in the taskbar how many characters you've typed & if you want to delete an individual message you just use the arrow keys & move to thw one you want to delete & choose the option in the menu.
Very oftently you dont see sent msg in TF3D, but you can see them in wm msg. IT sucks and very slow.
I have a deep and unabiding hatred for the TF3D SMS application, and I hope someone figures out a way to make clicking a message in TF3D go directly to the WM SMS app at some point.
anyone can resolve this issue?
i have an issue with hitting back (used to it being send) and i hate the send button because for me it is very laggy usually .. when i need to fire off a bunch of messages real quick the system almost freezes up ... not very productive and alot of times i cant tell if its sent or not because it takes to long to load my reply on the thread..
touch pro 2 sucks, most sluggish phone i ever worked with, i think i will sell it.
