First I would say bad idea blaming your wife in print. That only spells trouble for you later.
I would say take the SD card out, place a CDMA-based ROM on it, put it back in, go into bootloader, and reflash from the card. NRG doesn't cook radio's into his ROMS so you should be good with just an OS flash.
And just in case you don't know how to flash from SD.
1. Unplug USB cable (not necessary, but KISS)
2. With the phone off, press and hold the vol down rocker then press the power button
3. You'll see the rainbow boot-up, then from there just follow the commands on the screen.
4. After is says Upgrade complete (or something similar, it'll be white text in a blue box in the middle of the screen), press the reset button.
Voila.
Hope this helps.

I'm wondering just what excatly she was doing to distract you so much that you would flash a GSM ROM on your CDMA device.....

Just follow the instructions in the second post. Next time try to use a proper thread title. "Big Mistake!!! Help" Really doesn't help you any faster!
I could make a small joke about your post but I'm not gonna... ....today....
This thread will probably be closed very soon. You better search before blaming your wife next time

You are lucky you only temporarily lost the phone. Other people have worse experiences.
That aside it is easy to fix as mentioned above just put the cdma rom nbh file on the root of sd card and make sure it is called RHODIMG.nbh and then enter into boot loader. The rom will install automatically and you will have your phone restored

Well, I agree with this causing problems... I was so desperate I wasn't thinking!!! BIGGER MISTAKE!!!
Regarding your instructions it was just perfect, I actually struggled about 3 more hours and none of the ROMs I had/downloaded were working, I thought I really screwed bad... after some more search I found what was happening! The MicroSD card that came with the phone is formated FAT and not FAT32, therefore everytime I was trying it wasn't finding the ROM...
Anyway, all is working now, thanks a lot for the quick response yesterday!

Guys, you're so funny, and helpful too!
I better don't go into details of what she was doing...
I'll do my homework next time, tks for all help!

Pretty Much Bricked (please Help!!!)

Hey guys. I really , really , really, (can't emphasize that enough), need your help. I flashed my Vogue about a week ago with the 19588 ROM using PPC Geeks Kitchen.
I ended up having to do a warranty exchange because my volume button came a little loose. Well, I went to Flash back to the Stock Alltel ROM, the one that is on the HTC site, thats linked on this page, the one I always use, and now I'm screwed.
It makes it to 43 percent and says theres a communication error. The really weird thing is, I can flash any other ROM to the phone, just not the Alltel ROM. Below , I've listed what I've tried, so you get an Idea. I'm beggin you to help me out here.
*I started out with CokeMan 2.31 , and the 19588 Cooked PPCGeeks Kitchen ROM.
*After the first 5 failed attempt to flash the Alltel ROM, I flashed CokeMan v0.41, and then flashed Mustangs Clean ROM w/o GPS. (this is when I figured out other ROM's will work)
*I re-downloaded the Alltel ROM from HTC's website 6 times, and have tried it on three separate computers and no luck.
*I tried almost ten different ROM's , and each time tried flashing the Alltel ROM afterwords.
*I extracted the Alltel ROM to a folder. Downloaded a blank RUU folder. Copied all of the files from the alltel folder to the RUU folder. (All of the files that were in the Alltel Folder, and not in the RUU folder.) It actually flashed all the way thru, but is now stuck at the HTC screen, and says NO RADIO at the bottom. I just stopped trying, and now am turning to the PPC Gods, you guys. SO PLEASE HELP ME OUT. I have to sent the thing back by monday, or they charge me.
I've always been able to flash to the Alltel ROM from and ROM i've ever used, and never had this trouble before in my PPC life. It always just relocks the phone.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!
flash using the sd card
Sounds like you've flashed the f*** out of that phone, suprised it didn't overheat ! Anyways, try the SD method. Also, what radios have you been adding on, or originated with on the ROM you had when you first started.
Also, I'll be quite honest, if I had to return the phone for any reason and couldn't flash back, I'd probably break it to pieces and say it was run over!
how to use SD anyone? please? ive never tried
does it really matter what ROM is on there ...if your having a button problem? You obviously didn't cause the issue because of the ROM.

1. Format your MicroSD card to FAT32 (YES - FAT 32 32 32!! not just plain old FAT) (again, this is not required if your card is already fat32; it is ok to have other data on the card). I have read that the card needs to be 2gb or smaller, though I'm not sure how much truth, if any, there is to that...
2. Extract the .NBH you desire to flash from the exe or zip or w/e put it on the microsd card rename it from RUU_signed.nbh to VOGUIMG.NBH
3.Put the MicroSD card in your phone and Get To the BOOTLOADER screen (camer+power+reset) it should then start updating with the .NBH on the SD card and the procedure should begin automatically.
quoted from here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17473
and also, like the champ said, what radios have you flashed?
EDIT: and, which alltel rom are you trying to flash? if you were reverting back to a non-gps/lower radio rom, you did make sure to downgrade the spl properly using these instructions here correct?

If you can't flash it, make sure to make it so it can't even start up... you need to completely brick it so it can't get to the bootloader, just not even turn on. Then you can blame HTC and get a new one

You can't be serious with this, right? The idea here is to fix it, not blame HTC, because I'm sure that would go over real smooth with the carrier.

Well that sounds like a horrible idea! Lol I mean if it has to be done then yeah just go to a GPS ROM and then flash back and it will brick and you can send it in if you have TEP from Sprint or something.. But first I think he wants to FIX the phone not destroy it and start over
My touch is also bricked. It boots to the Sprint logo and stops there.
What do you mean a button problem.
My Touch's green and red buttons stopped working before updating. But the phone still worked. After updating the ROM, even the phone stop working.
Could you please elaborate on this?

If its a cab file you're trying to install, copy it anywhere on the phone. Then using file explorer on your phone, click on the cab file and installation will begin.
If its an exe file, these install from your pc through Activesync. On your pc(with phone connected), click on the exe file and it will copy the files to your phone. It will then tell you to check your phone, which will then look like you had just started a cab file installation.
If either cab or exe asks you if you want to install to device or storage card, it should be your choice unless the creator has specified otherwise.
Some files require rebooting the phone after installation. Most will tell you before they reboot, and some creators will tell you its necessary. In this case you should manually reboot it if the installation doesn't automatically do it for you.
just out of curiosity. how did you manage to flash 6.1 on the phone when you are unsure of how to install a simple application?

be a little more specific man..
for the keyboard go look in the sticky ontop of this forum and download the keyboard file to your pc. plug your phone into the pc and let it sync. then take that file and through activesync > explorer put it on your phone
on your phone, go to where that file is located and just execute it..install to device. then reboot the phone when its done installing.

You honestly think hes the one? I didn't think installing cabs was that hard. Put cab on phone, click on it from explorer, and wait just a bit, Done. I really don't think he is the chosen one. In fact, I would venture a guess that it was pure luck he was able to get 6.1 flashed at all. No offense. I nominate Gixxum to be his personal tutor
which is why id like to know how or what instructions he followed.
I didn't think you was being a jerk, infact i found your answer rather commicle, so i had to reply with comedy, i just imagined he followed the forum thread and think from his answer i was correct? But maybe not?

Im glad you guys are having fun at my expense, this is how I figured it out. It was posted in this forum, I wish I had the name on it, but I give thanks to ever wrote this and am sorry I didnt have the nameHeres how to beat the 270 error.
When running the installer, "push any key" through the first few steps as it says.
When the queue comes up saying "press center key and screen should turn white", "press any key to continue"
FIRST - press any key, to bring up the next queue
SECOND - now push the center button on your phone, and it should turn white
THIRD - push any key on your PC to start the actual flash.
If you do step 2 before 1, it will still continue onto the flash screens, but will Error 270 at 1-10%.....
Hope this helps some of you!

Error 720 is/has nothing to do with "Installing programs"

[Q] Update.zip for SGH-T989

Hi guys,
I know most of you will say I'm a noob who hasn't searched and everyone and their mom knows this but im new to the custom roms, I have a US T mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989. I have rooted it and flashed the latest clockwork but when i try to install the custom rom it says im missing the update.zip file. and i cant find that damn thing anywhere online. I have harassed the search on Google, YouTube, xda and every other site i can think of but i cant find anything..... please......help?
Don't select update from zip.
Choose install/update from custom zip. It's a separate option.

How were you able to install clockworkmod and root, but you can't find a rom? That's ass-backwards if you ask me.
Check the development forum. Plenty of roms in there. Most of them zipped.

Select 'install zip from sdcard', then select 'choose zip from sdcard'. If it's on the internal, not an actual microsd card, select 'choose zip from internal sdcard'.

Isn't the VillainROM a ROM for the i9100? If so, that is a completely different phone and you probably are f-ed.

If not, you can try warranty or an unbricking service. There's one floating around for 40 USD or so.

[Q] Possibly bricked... Or is it??

Hi guys... First post here as i seem to be stuck.. My phone is a DHD.
I'm not new to rooting or custom ROM's as i often change the ROM on my phone easily without any problems.. Done it 40-50 times now. Never had a problem. I'm used to the AAHK and know what i'm doing.. However, last night i got fed up of the ROM i had, been having some teething troubles lately so figured i'd put it back to stock and then root again and flash a new ROM, this always solves my problems. Now i always have a few others stored on my SD card incase one won't work (i sometimes get the bad installation, aborted) message and i'm not left without a working ROM, but wanted to unroot and put back to stock so opened the AAHK and proceeded as normal to do so ..
Everything was running fine, writing codes as it should, then when it came to the radio downgrade, it got to a part where it usually moves on to the next stage fairly quickly, but this time it just hung.. I left it a few mins to see if it would carry on, no such luck.. I had no choice but to remove the cable and try again.. Now i'm not a fan of removing cables midway through, but it would have just hung forever so i had no choice..
Anyway.. I can still access the CWM screen and have tried every option to get it to do something, but no matter what i do, i can't get past either the white HTC screen or the Black background with the red triangle.. The files are still there on my SD card obviously, i can access them via a card reader, it's just the phone won't move on as i'm guessing the downgrade being interrupted left it with corrupt data... I would have thought running the AAHK again would have started from scratch and just re-run, but this obviously isn't the case.. Any ideas what to do?

Why are you running the Hack Kit being S-OFF? there is no use in doing that. You could have flashed a different rom from recovery after doing a full wipe and everything might have been solved, if it was a software issue.

Yes i realise that.. That's how i always flashed new ROM's. i could have a new ROM installed in minutes that way, but the reason i was running the hack kit was to put it back to S-ON and stock RUU.. As far as i was aware you had to run the hack kit to put it back to stock, that's the only way of doing it is it not?..
But that's not the problem, my problem now is, getting the phone to show some signs of wanting to get past either screen.

Yes it is still S-OFF, but it won't let me flash anything, run bootloader, access the SD card or i wouldn't have the problem i have..
If i hold volume down and power, i get the usual screen with fastboot, recovery, factory reset, simlock and image crc.. I've tried every one of these apart from the simlock with the same results.. Nothing.. If i select recovery, it flashes the white HTC screen as if it's going to boot, then i get the black phone with the red triangle and it won't go any further.. If i hold volume up and power at that stage, it gives me the apply sdcard:update.zip (which i can't seem to access or just don't have, i'm not sure) and the wipe data/factory reset and cache options..
The only thing it tells me on the screen is E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
I fear i can't do anything with this phone, even trying to get the hack kit to run is a pain and keeps giving me several errors including the ECHO OFF message. I presume this is because having done the wipe cache and data, i've removed the usb debugging priviliges..
RyanH77 said:
Yes it is still S-OFF, but it won't let me flash anything, run bootloader, access the SD card or i wouldn't have the problem i have..
If i hold volume down and power, i get the usual screen with fastboot, recovery, factory reset, simlock and image crc.. I've tried every one of these apart from the simlock with the same results.. You have to flash a recovery in fastboot.....no other way will work.

How do i do that exactly?? If i select fastboot, it takes me to the next screen which has bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader and power down, and again, no matter what i press it won't open any external folders or do anything..

Ryan, from now on, know that if you lie on what you did your phone to someone trying to help you is the worst thing ever. Not only because it won't help to fix it but also because I could also have scr*wed your device by doing some flashing on a messed bootloader.
Lying is the worst strategy ever....I am done. You won't get any help from me anymore. Congrats.

You've misread the situation.. I didn't lie to you about anything, ok, i was unsure of what i'd done, but i certainly didn't ask for help to mislead you and help break my phone. Why would i do that??? I genuinely got stuck with a problem that i didn't know how to get out of.. To be honest i've never had a problem with it before and didn't realise you had to know every single piece of info about it, most of which you forget whilst trying to sort it anyway, and i can't remember if it was flashed previously with a stock ROM or not, but what you mentioned sounded familiar which is why i said i think it might have been, but i can't be 100% certain on that..
I feel bad that you saw it as misleading, as i didn't feel i had been, and that certainly wasn't my intention.. But even though you are unwilling to help me again, i thank you very much for the help you gave me, without you it would still be in a useless state. Thankfully, i have managed to get it working perfectly again and will be more careful in future..

Maybe you don´t have a clue on what happened. What's up with me? I will tell you what is going on...i spend many hours of my life helping people in here and in the Hack Kit IRC Support Channel for free, I do it because I enjoy it and don't expect anything in return.
But the worst thing ever is to come accross someone that lies about what he did to his phone. I have been around this site for about 2 years now and never made a brick, do you know why? because I always make sure to follow instructions and ask people what they did in order to provide the best fix, if possible.
When you spend and hour trying to figure out what is going on and trying to flash something and then find out that a froyo RUU might have been flashed (perhaps, I don´t know, not sure...WTF???) and what you did might have scr*wed his phone, it really makes me angry and feel cheated.
To sum up, my time...my decision...maybe you can help him yourself instead of questioning me.

Like SmOgER said before you Glevitan, i wasn't lying, you just got annoyed with me because i didn't give you 100% of the info you needed, and the only reason for that was because i didn't know it!! When you think you're phone is playing up, you try various ways to get it right again, i'm sorry i don't keep track of every little step i did and i'm sorry this displeased you. But a liar i am not.. The term more appropriate would be clueless!!
You have to accept that us newbies just don't know anywhere near as much about these phones and how they work as you do.. It doesn't mean i lied.. What you see as a misrepresentation of facts doesn't mean i am a liar, it just means i didn't give you the info you wanted, simply because i didn't know it, not that i was withholding it on purpose, THAT would have been bad!!
I am no expert like you, i just root and ROM like most people and hope that it goes right...
Like i said before, i really appreciate the time you took to help me and didn't go unnoticed, and it's great that you help people like me for free, but maybe you should take it a bit easier on the newbies if they're not so expert.. My 1st post asking for help and i already feel like i'm not welcome anymore.. That's pretty bad for such a big community!!
SmOgER.. At least YOU understood where i was coming from..
1. Flashing a Froyo RUU is an important stop on the quick path to bricking your phone, and that warning is splashed all over AAHK and other documentation. That's why glevitan is so upset about not being told of the possibility that you might have done it: it's very bad, and users should know that it's very bad, and it wastes a lot of time.
2. Not knowing what you're doing and messing with your phone, and then not keeping track of what you're doing, is extremely unwise. When helping out on XDA, I personally don't expect everyone to know everything, but taking basic precautions really does seem like common sense.
3. Next time, read similar threads that came before you and ask the community. For example: I have X problem. I have researched and found Y and Z thread links with similar symptoms. I am considering trying what A suggested in Y. Is that the wisest course of action? Then you show that you have done your part in solving your own problem, and the community will respect that, even if you're way off base.
Obviously, I personally wasn't there on teamviewer, so I have no idea about the clueless v. lying thing.

Yes i understand what you're saying, and i appreciate most of it. However, it's not often practical or even possible in some cases to write down or note everything you do in a documented fashion.. And like you might have previously missed, i have flashed various ROM's 40-50 times, and the AAHK has worked perfectly for me everytime except the last where it took it upon itself to just freeze on me, it was a computer issue, not a human error.. Also, why would reflashing a Froyo RUU to a phone that was originally shipped as a Froyo unit cause any problems??
I don't understand that part..
One final note, i did have a look through similar threads, but there are so may threads with similar symptoms that it's hard to sift through them all for a definitive answer, and even when you do read them, only one or two parts might be relevant, if any.. So it's quicker to come straight out and ask rather than waste hours trawling through them all to no avail i think.
Whatever happened doesn't matter anymore. Lesson learned.
You seem like a nice guy. Let's back on topic.
Is the issue solved or not?
Try to state what is the current issue. What was the state of the phone when it was working. What happened or what were you trying to do when it got messed up. What have you tried so far. Etc, etc, etc. The more the info the better.
Edit: Nevermind. You *******, you flashed a froyo hboot on your HTC Inspire/DHD after we’ve warned NOT to for over a year. Here’s the fix:
Sent from a dream.

It is not about if you are an expert or not...I am not, belive me. But I am wise enough to read and try to learn. Doing things like a monkey will not excuse you.
If you don't understand, maybe it is time for you to buy an Iphone. Hacking is not for the lazy b*stards who don't even know what they do. And belive me, your story is hard to belive, running the Hack Kit with a custom rom is not possible...you should have got stuck, that is how it works.

I wouldn't be seen dead with an iPhone.. I hate Apple and Apple products for that specific reason. They don't give the freedom of open source and don't allow real control. But i will be more careful in future and learn from my mistakes.. However, i'm not a lazy bastard hacker as you so put it, and i don't care for the accusation of being one either, please be careful what you say in future as statements like that are completely uncalled for ..
I understand you are somewhat unhappy with me, but please don't resort to slating me. I wouldn't do the same to you if you were wrong.
And yes Teichopsia.. I am a nice guy, thank you for noticing.. I realise now i made a mistake and i just got stuck, but the phone is now running absolutely flawlessly thank you..

Incoming calls cannot be answered or never make it to my phone.

Rooted Sprint Galaxy S6 on Lollipop 5.1.1 with Teamwin recovery
http://tiribulus.net/pix/Phone/1.png
http://tiribulus.net/pix/Phone/2.png
Sporadically lags a bit everywhere, but I cannot receive incoming calls. I use another phone to test and it rings on the calling phone several times, goes to my voicemail and THEN rings on my phone and of course can't be answered. It just hangs there all greyed out until I hang up and takes like 20 seconds for the phone app to disappear. Other times it doesn't even ring at all on my phone. I can make outgoing calls.
The Sprint support guy took me through re-provisioning the phone with some dial pad codes, he did something to the SIM card too , I've uninstalled Drupe (which has been great) and reinstalled it. Tried both when on and off the phone. No difference
Wiped both the cache partition and the davlik cache.
This started a couple days ago when the phone rebooted ITSELF without my touching it and then booted back up into an error that said "Unfortunately, NetworkSystemProvider has stopped.". Couldn't do anything. Tapping OK made it go away for half a second and it was back. A friend of mine managed to get some Sprint specific thing either disabled or yanked and the error went away. Everything seemed to be fine. I'm not sure when the phone issue started exactly or even if it's related to that situation or not. I just noticed today that someone was calling me and I couldn't answer. (I do most of my communications online and don't get that many phone calls, but the ones I do get are very important)
Oh yeah, I reseated the SIM after an error saying there wasn't one after the Sprint guy sent some info to it and that went away.
i am at total loss here. The Sprint guy of course wants to wipe the phone. That would be a monstrous drag for all the reasons you guys already know for a phone that has been working great for over a year like it is.
Please be my new hero and tell me what to do if anybody knows. I have good PC skills and SOME with Android, but this is beyond me.
Thank you SO much.
It also keeps re-sending me old txts
The Sprint store gave me a new SIM card and that didn't fix it either. Restoring a TWRP full image restore from April didn't fix it. A factory wipe in Teamwin recovery didn't fix it. Same exact symptoms no matter what I do.
Ring ring ring ring ring on the calling phone, it finally rings on mine, but is already in voicemail on the calling phone. Once in a GREAT while it will ring just a bit earlier on mine and it will flutter between being greyed out on the answer screen (all the options like speaker etc) and eventually connect the call after a second or two. Nobody I can find has ever seen anything like this. This S6 was working absolutely flawlessly for well over a year.
It also appears I am not usually getting incoming txt messages either, but I am getting only certain old ones repeatedly. Sometimes old voicemails too. It's almost more like it's a remote server issue somewhere.
I hate to say it, but it sounds like your phone is failing and will need to be replaced. But before you do that, here is a relatively easy thing to try:
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
Using Odin, flash the latest firmware. You are at 5.11, the latest is 6.01. That will restore you to stock OS, take away root and TWRP, but you'll be able to restore those. You shouldn't have any data loss.
Once that is done, go to Settings and System Update and then Update PRL and Profile. See if that solves it. If it does, you can quickly Root and Recovery again.
Good luck!

TWRP (or Teamwin if you like) won't be an issue. Download Odin on your PC, download the zipped TAR file in the first post of my link. Extract the .MD5 in the zip to the same directory as Odin (you don't really have to, this is just convenient. Install the latest Samsung drivers to your PC, make sure that your computer recognizes the phone. Put the phone into Download mode. (Hold the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons at the same time.) Plug the phone into your computer. If the com light lights up in Odin, you are good to go. Flash the TAR using the AP slot in Odin.
This sounds like a lot, but it is easier to do than for me to tell you. But WAIT! In my linked post, there is a video that will walk you through it all!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv0BnfpNxEs
How easy is that? The only thing that Tim says that is no longer true is that data won't be wiped by default.
OOPS WROTE THIS BEFORE I SAW YOU REPLIED LEMME LOOK
I'm sorry man. I'm actually a seasoned PC support guy. I know I'm being a pain. I don't have muich experience with these phones though and it's been 14 months since I flashed this one. I don't know what most of that means over there.
I don't have the regular recovery. I have Teamwin. There IS an ADB side load function in there. Is that what I use in place of the regular download mode? If so, won't that leave Teamwion on the phone since that's what I'm using? Sprint won't give me another one while it's on there.
How do I know if Odin is seeing the phone? It doesn't appear to act like it knows my phone is attached to the computer. Does it have to be in download mode that I'm trying to find out how to get into here
Forgive my abject ignorance please.

Could you be holding the Volume Up button, not the Volume Down button by mistake?
Doesn't matter. If you are in TWRP and you select "Reboot" one of the options should be Download. That will do the same thing for you.
You can also install something like this (if you are rooted) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jc.rebootmanager
And one last thing. You need to have your phone in Download mode to be seen by Odin.
Oh goodness me!! I AM A MORON!!

Yes, that's what I was doing
It is restarting now, but didn't actually erase anything. It looks like it just upgraded to Marshmallow. However, I am being barraged with txt messages so maybe it fixed it. I'll let you know. Thank you very much for your patience.
That fixed it!!! The phone works!!! I didn't even lose any of my data or pix or contacts or anything.
Now all I gotta do is get ROOT back and TWRP reinstalled.
Thank YOU sir!! The other fella too. His instructions probably would have worked if I had pressing the right button.

What I don't understand is why a known good TWRP recovery from months ago didn't fix it, but an OS upgrade did. You'd think that both should work or not. Its' the same phone and a full backup from when it worked fine. Oh well. I'm just glad it did work.
X-Posed?
While I have you here. You don't happen to have a guide for installing X-Posed on this phone do you? I have the zip installed from TWRP, but when I go to install the APK from within the OS I get what you see in this screen and the guy who's guide I was following doesn't respond. It occurred to me that koop1955 might know. Thanks. Even if you don't.
