Goodlink on WM6

So, I am about to make the plunge into WM6, and am trying to select a "flavor" ... for lack of a better term. Choosing between the following:
WMVI - Black Edition 1.2 (when it gets released)
WMXL v0.30 (when it gets released)
LVSW Edition (next version to come out)
Anyone out there using any of these (either the beta versions, or the prior versions already on this site) successfully with Goodlink? It looks like WMXL should work with Goodlink from what I am reading, but any input from folks using Goodlink and WM6 would be appreciated (i.e., which flavor of WM6 works best in terms of goodlink integration .. and any special tweaks/hacks etc. you need to do to get goodlink up and running).

No real tweaks or hacks necessary here (except for getting rid of the 'required' password) using WMXL .20 (or .10 for that matter). I haven't tried any of the other flavors, but conceptually there shouldn't be a difference as far as GoodLink is concerned.
I have been having a periodic problem that I think is on the server-side (but still worth mentioning) - for the last two Thursdays Goodlink just stopped working after my flight home. No connection, nothing. In both instances I had to be re-provisioned on the server - no other solutions worked, including uninstalling/re-installing goodlink from both a backup and without a backup, re-flashing with every ROM imaginable (including the shipped Cingular ROM), etc.

I believe that Goodlink will only work on WMXL because the software checks the CE version and WMXL is the only one that has been hex'd changed to be compatible. Same goes for BBConnect and BCM.

Per a recent post on the thread re WMVI - Black Edition .. jasjamming confirmed that version 1.2 will be set up to work with goodlink too.

Goodllink on LVSW
Goodlink works like a charm on LVSW version.
Note that it will not install due to the versioncheck: make a backup on your memorycard (using good backup), upgrade to LVSW (in my case) and then restore your backup from the card. Besides all the user/pass/code stuff you also get to skip the OTA download
Sync it - and your all set.
Hope of use.

Works on all of them. Just make a GL backup before upgrading (on WM5), and restore after the WM6 upgrade. Will not complain about the wrong OS version

Goodlink & WM6 Word Completion
I have a question for those of you that have Goodlink installed on WM6. When I'm typing in goodlink it still offers the dropdown with word completion, but for each letter I type, it basically starts all over again as if the additional letters were starting a new word: Ex. T recommends test, this, the, but if I add the h, it advises have, hardly, happen.
On SMS messages the word completion is working correctly.
Is this specific to WM6 and affecting others or is something else causing the problem on my phone? (I didn't test it before I installed other apps.

Cingular 8525 with WM6 Black Edition 1.2.

Interesting ... just tested on my 8525, and I have the same problem (had not even noticed). Hmm. Will have to play around to see if I can fix this one.

It's at least good to know that it isn't just me. Thanks for looking into it. Let me know what you find.

CE-Star not working properly on WM6

My 8525 runs LVSW0405 WM6 or Dutty's WM6premium, I found that CE-Star doesnt work well on WM6 system, it causes the freezing problem.
I am trying to make my 8525 to display Chinese, and installed "Leies CE-STAR crossbow" and my 8525 started to freeze itself.
At first I was wondering if that will be the Memory card problem. so I installed all programs in MainStorage, and even took out the SD card, the freezing still happens sometime. So I think it is the CE-Star problem.
Do anyone else encounter the same problem as me?
Are there any way to get around this?
My installed program:
Lesis CE-STAR crossbow (System Big5C)

It runs fine in 0326 and 0408 LVSW editions (I have not tested with other rom editions)..I have it cooked and embedded into the rom and have no issues.

retail version 2.8 R3 has worked on all WM6 ROMs I've tested including lvsw 3/15, 3/26, 4/08, black 2.0 and the kyphur's live version (2/26?). Make sure you have latest and set up registration code or it'll give you all sorts of trouble.

Hi Mate try using Monster Chinese v5.3. I used it arround 1 month. Not problem at all on my 838Pro.

I think the problem is solved now( it runs w/o crashing for several hours now)
I thought I was just not following the installing instructions.
1. Install the Core file (Big5 or GBK) (install program only)
2. Install the input method(s).
3. go to the CE-Star program to click install icon...
I always did the step 3 prior to the step 2, I thought that might cause the whole problem. I will keep an eye on it, and report back later.

Mine works but not very stable. I use Monster now. Much better. The only problem with Monster is SIP doesn't load properly. Trashcan, how do you embed it into the ROM?

If you need just viewing Simplified Chinese and no input you can try this chinese patch. There also is a Chinese WM6 in the Cooked Roms section of the WIKI.

i still have problem, when i input chinese in " notes" ,every word i type will output twice, and when i input chinese in "word", it works fine... i dont know why

Dopod Asia version of R3 also works fine by the way. Helps those with Dopods save some $$$

Extracting myfaves to put on my 8525

i apologize if this is the wrong forum for this. has anyone had any success trying to extract the myfaves today plugin application from the wing/herald? i want to put it on my 8525. i dumped the .bin file from this thread and copied all the 'myfaves*' and 'my5*' files to the /windows directory and ran the myfaves .exe file and still no luck. there is even a myfaves service that i enabled and still no luck. i dont have much experience here. can someone lend a hand?

From what I read on another thread. It can't be done but also not necessary. You can have my Fave 5 without having a my fave 5 phone. You can Check or Change yoru 5 via logging into tmobile account and changing it online. Having the My fave 5 app on your phone is only convient to Change it from your phone. No Big deal seeing that you can only Change it once a Month Anyway

Download Opera 9 for PC and import favorites on desktop then sync with opera online, then load up Opera Mini 4 on WM5/6 and sync favorites.
You can also sync fav's w/activesync for iexplorer. Opera 8.65 for wm5/6 will import your iexplorer favorites also.

I have T-Mobile. the only reason my phone says AT&T is because I actually work for an AT&T authorized retailer, and I don't want customers seeing T-Mobile on my display. and thanks to the Personaliser cab I am able to do that.

I'll give it a try. The last thread posted before the CAB link led to a package that kept crashing on my 8525.

Okay I installed the cab file on my 8525 and it works, but it crashes after a minute or so. It maintains fine on my Today screen, but when I'm trying to edit the profiles of my MyFaves contacts it reports that the application had an error and needed to close.
I managed to get everything updated quickly between crashes, but the application works though.
I'm still running the stock ROM that came with the phone when I got it a couple days ago:
ROM version: 3.57.502.1
Radio: 1.48.00.00
WM6 version: 5.2.1437 (build 17944.0.3.1)
Anyone know of a good, stable, and fast cooked ROM for the 8525 that they would recommend, could you send me a PM with a link?

See if that works? I dont have myfaves on my plan, so I've never used it.

I installed the link you just posted and its doing the same thing on my phone.
UPDATE 2/26/08:
I updated my phone with the latest AT&T 8525 standard release:
ROM version: 3.62.502.3
Radio version: 1.57.07.00
WM6 version: 5.2.1622 (Build 18128.0.4.4)
I reinstalled the MyFaves cab and it works beautifully! It appears my previous ROM image was pretty horrid - had issues with GPRS/EDGE and auto-switching to WiFi all the time. Now I don't have those issues, and it runs sooo much quicker.

WOW....that was wierd!!!

My Dash has been running WM6.1 080408 Final For Excalibur WWE with English - By Kavana without any issues for months. Then rather spontaneously I was unable to access some of the settings and would get a message saying the settings couldn't be opened. So I re-installed the ROM. It fixed the settings access, but only for a couple of days and it went back to not being able to access the settings. I searched the forum and found one thread that recommended deleting a registry folder, which I did without luck. Any ideas? I am presuming that this is a software issue rather than a hardware issue.

Thanks Bigmannyjr, but that ROM looks like it is still owrking out the bugs. I need something that is solid now.

you wouldnt by chabne be doing a restore using sprite backup would you? sprite backup while being a good restore program, has done things like this to me too after i switched to WM 6.1.

Actually was using Sprite, but did not re-install after the second ROM update so I don't think we can consider it related to Sprite.

[REQ] A simple and FULL WM6.5 ROM for Diamond1

Hey i would like a simple and full ROM for my first flash, I was looking at donsalari's ROM but he has removed messenger (windows live) and messaging seems to be a pain. I dont mind if it runs sense 2.5 or TF3D2.1

Also another quick question, Do you really need activesync when flashing HARDspl and new radio/Rom? I am having difficulty getting Mobile Device Center on windows 7 as I install it but find no traces of it being installed at all?
