What id like to see though its a screenshot of this ROM

i just installed curso v1.0 on my hero. i installed the rom only, didnt install the radio or spl. i even installed curso 0.5 kernel. no problem so far.
edit
spl i had installed way back.
my radio is 09.26

From what I understand the radio upgrade is to prevent the phone from getting bricked (when updating the spl), so if you already have the mentioned spl you should be fine.
Also I don't think anyone who has has at least the Hero EU radio has to worry about wrong radio when going for flashing the spl, but I could be wrong.
That said I'd think twice before flashing a Rom that needs you to have the unlocked spl. Because the risk of bricking your phone is very real, when flashing an spl. (This is for those who do not have the said spl of course).

Is this really for the GSM HERO?!

Well if you look at the guy's sig, he seems to be using it himself on his hero... what's the worst thing that could happen?
tried it and booted up fine on my hero.

huh?? no where does it mention that this rom is for the GSM hero, it seems like it is meant for the HTC magic, even the instructions given to change the spl and radio are for the magic. Also in his signature the creator of this ROM himself uses the modaco 3.1 on his hero, and his own creation on the MAGIC 32A. I wouldn't recommend flashing this rom onto your hero. nor would i recommend following instructions mentioned there to upgrade your SPL or radio, follow instructions given in the HERO section only.

is what it says in his sig... seems as if his using it on his hero. anyways, it IS a magic rom. it even said so on the introduction screen. but it can be used on the hero, just like they can use hero roms on the dream. the spl is the same as modacos posted here in the hero section. and the radio is also the same as the hero-radios found here in the hero section. I can guarantee there is no prob flashing this rom. With that being said after playing around with it I found no faults in it, but on the other hand nor did I find a reason to use this instead of MCR... but variety is still a good thing.

Upgrading SPL to HardSPL v7 (2.10.olipro)
Downgrading to WM5*
* Currently updating the guides so please check back
Please read the guide word for word and you should be successfull in carrying out the procedures described.
DO NOT pm me if you have already posted in this thread, i WILL NOT answer you if you do!
Enjoy
This Should Be Made A Sticky Or At Least Added To The Sticky That Points To The Helpful Threads.
Cheers
Great guide. this should help the noobs.
Thanks for your work on these.
MrVanX,
This is nice. Though I do not need it anymore, since I had to read the wiki and all the posts to get to where I am now, I am sure it will help reduce some of the noob questions.
I do not regret doing what I had to do, since I learned a lot during the process.
But thanks for taking the time to make this.
Thank you for the guide, I really do appreciate it.
One question though after doing a search and checking the wiki.
I checked my bootloader and it is 1.10 Oli.
I was going to load the HardSPL v3 prior to upgraded to the 1.38 radio.
One of the choices of bootloader is NOT 1.10 Oli...does this mean I do not need to do the HardSPL? Or do I still need it?
Thanks in advance...and if I missed the thread I'm prepared to smack myself across the face 20 times in restitution.

You will notice in "how to upgrade HardSPL v3" the guide says "if your version is 1.10.oli or 1.11.oli select the BLUE OPTION". When you run the HardSPL v3 installer you select the force sspl option. OK?? (i changed the wording of the guide)

What a great guide - would have saved me endless trouble when I started upgrading (including my brick - repaired courtesy of Vodafone ) - but then again I've also learned loads the harder way.
Can you just write a guide on Un-Bricking, Cooking Roms, Installing apps, Creating Cabs, Searching, Reading the Wiki etc, etc (Hmmm, now there's a project)
Only kidding, but maybe if we can link this guide and the Unbricking thread to be the first thing a new member sees when they sign up as a member to the forums we may see less 'help I'm a ****wit' threads
Excellent guide!
Just wondering, will you be creating a "downgrade guide" for those who wish to revert everything back to their original state (OS ROM, Radio ROM & bootloader) for warranty purposes?
Thanks!

SPL Link broken?
Hi, it might just be my system but the SPL download link appears to be broken
Martyn
Link fixed, thanks for the heads-up!
Sorry Radio link seems broken too.
Hi, sorry to be a pain but I'm following your advise and going through the guide step by step and can't download the radio.
BTW: The SPL worked a treat, I'm planning on trying the LVMS flavour.
The links for the Radio are all working fine, are you using Winrar?? You need it for opening the radio package.

Hi
I'm quite a noob, so I apologize if i ask for something already mentionned.
I'm on SPL1.09 after install of LVSW 03/20.
I want to install HardSPL v4.
- This means only the bootloader files of the rom will be modified. Am I right ?
I need to check the yellow line.
But do I need to check "Is it hardSPL" ? What is this for ?
Then, as I understand, if i install a new ROM with radio, it'll modify the SPL again ?
Thanx

rom help (noob)

hi all,
i'm pretty new at this rom stuff. i want to speed up my diamond but i don't know how to upgrade my rom and stuff. could someone be kind enough to tell me how to do this?
my rom version is 1.34.831.1 WWE
First you need to download the Hard spl from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950
Its the second post down with the CAB file attached....for gods sake please the instructions given as we wont be held responsible if you brick your phone.
Once you have done that then download any of the roms here in this forum, the best one i would say is the TLR rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404626
Download that but run it after you have installed hard_spl on your phone. Once you have installed hard spl then you can flash to any rom you like. Again i stress read the instructions given in both threads so that you dont mess your phone up.
Good luck.
thanks a lot,
i went to the download for the hard spl, should i download the signed version?
If you do download the signed version then you need to download the signed version of the rom your after. Only difference between signed and unsigned is that signed are safer but ive updated my rom twice with unsigned roms and they work perfectly well. Havent had any problems so far when running TLRs roms.
how do i know if the rom is signed?
also, what's the difference between the TLR rom and the elite roms i've been reading about?
thanks

Because the person who posts up the rom will say its signed or not...or you could pm them to ask them.
As for the differences??...you need to read each rom thread that your considering to flash to and find out yourself what the difference is. I havent flashed mine to the Elite one but the TLR rom im using is pretty fast and also gives you the option to remove TF3D if you want to...frees up alot of memory if you do so...thats one of the bigger differences there.
I dont know much abouyt the Elite rom as i havent flashed to that one.
thanks man

Can i flash the new HTC official rom on my device?

I tried downloading the newest HTC ROM update---says my device is not supported for this update. ???????
I downloaded the file using a provided serial in another thread for the WWE version.
Can I use this file to flash my rom????
My diamond is an UNBRANDED and UNLOCKED version. I assume its a UK or US version. I use it with my ATT&T sim card.
It's a 1.93.422.4 WWE currently...
Any reason this 2.03 rom WONT work for me?
Can I use it?
I started the flash process just to see if it would give me an error or incompatible message and it did not. It was ready to install.
Any thoughts?
thanks
Man,
You really need to read the wiki and this thread.
Not meaning to sound rude - but your questions are answered thoroughly, providing the information you need to understand before flashing your device.
wow man, that was SO INSIGHTFUL.... thanks
I have flashed MANY phones, many times. I am very aware of how to do it and Yes I have read that page.
I am just trying to see IF ANYONE KNEW offhand if that new WWE ROM would work over my existing ROM without bricking it.
but thanks
If you got it off the Diamond page and know it's a Diamond ROM for sure, then you can flash it. If you don't know where you go it or have no idea for which device it came for, it has to be ported.

Downgrade needed? Please help

Hi, I have an Orange HTC Hero straight out of the box which I want to put MoDaCo 3.0 on. I am running through the helpful How-To guide but am stuck at the very beginning. Basically I need to know whether I have to downgrade the Hero so it can be rooted.
Here is what I posted on MoDaCo forums. I am sorry to repeat post but I don't want to break anything LOL
"Hi I just got my Hero out of its box ready to put MoDaCo 3.0 on it following the How-To guide.
The first part of the guide says "If you have Firmware 2.73.x.x. OR HIGHER, you MUST DOWNGRADE FIRST (this typically applies to Orange handsets)
To check your firmware, do the following :
Start Settings
Click About Phone
Check the Kernel Version"
My Kernel Version is apparently 2.6.27-a5504199
My build version is 1.76.61.3 146733 CL#46012 release-keys
Software version is 1.0.0.A6288
Based on this do I need to downgrade in order to root?"
Thanks guys
Hi byakkotai, i did not downgrade my htc hero but able to root/backup/flash crom. i fail to make my goldcard , maybe my sd card cannot make goldcard.
so i juz try rooting & was able to & i go to recovery img & backup my hero & flash modaco crom.
Its the build version you have to look at.
I did do a HTC update to the new build 2.73.xx.x and then I got really stuck, so I think you 1.76 looks good, you can double check if there is any problems around that build, but I don't think so.
If you'r not sure about the build no. Look here @ downgrade guide from theunlockers.com.
If you want a way so simple you can't do wrong follow the one click root guide from theunlockr.com.

[Q] What radio version I have + more

Hello,
This is a silly question but i have searched the entire forum+google and I didnt find an answer on this.

Radio 2.x??? How do I know what radio version I have?
My Baseband version is 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
1) So is this my radio version? And if it is how i determine if it is 2.X?
Also I read the thread for updating a radio
I have rooted and S-OFF the phone with Easy Radio and S-Off tool. My question is:
2) It is ok to jump to Step 3?
3) And the version of the Radio that i will flash has anything to do with the current version? I mean to put 2.X i need to have 1.X?
Thank you for your time!

Edit: I've just re-read your post and you've linked to a Droid Incredible ROM but you're posting in the Desire HD forums... The DHD radios won't work on a Droid Incredible, and the Incredible ROMs won't work on a DHD. Ignore everything below unless you're on a DHD!
I assume by "2.x radio" they mean a radio from one of the Gingerbread 2.x bases. Go to the Radio Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295 and check the description against each radio.
For example your radio for your 12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M it says "HTC WWE 1.32.405.6", so I would think you need to update your radio. A lot of people are using the radio from the official Gingerbread final release
28th April 2011: Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - HTC Ace Gingerbread S 2.36.405.5
Regarding flashing the radio, I haven't read that thread in detail but it's for the Droid Incredible, and the method won't be the same for the DHD. There are better instructions in the radio thread I linked. Hope that helps.
Nice one my dear me

Heh, no problem. The radio info is good then. You're on a very old radio, so if you want to try a custom ROM based on Gingerbread then it would still be a good idea to update it. Check the thread and also follow the link in it to the info about Radio RILs.
And there is a Virtuous "Unity" ROM for the DHD by the same team, the thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115312
Thanks, maybe that was the one that the guy suggested then
I will check the links. Respect
Oh another small question
Can I jump directly and install 28th April 2011: Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - HTC Ace Gingerbread S 2.36.405.5
Or because my radio is so old I will have to make some intermediate updates?

You won't have to make any intermediate updates, but I'm not 100% sure how the Gingerbread radios (2.x) work on Froyo ROMs - might be worth asking in the thread. I know people are doing it the other way around, i.e. using older Froyo radios (1.x) on newer GB ROMs.
But if you're on a Froyo ROM and about to change to a Gingerbread one, most custom GB ROMs have the RIL files for the radio above included. In that case you're fine, and it doesn't matter whether you flash the ROM or the radio first.
Yeap its me again Sorry for the many questions but I read that flashing a radio is too risky and I do not want to attempt anything before I am 100% sure that I have the full picture...
In the thread that you gave me with the radios (and thank you for that) next to the radio version there is a provider
eg
25th February 2011: Radio_12.28g.60.140f_26.05.05.27_M3 - Orange UK 1.84.61.2 / CSL-HK CHT 1.84.832.2

Hi again. Don't worry, this is the Q&A forum after all.
I guess in theory flashing anything is risky, but it's very difficult to "brick" a DHD (i.e. make it completely un-fixable). I've flashed radios dozens of times, searching for that elusive perfect one. And if anything should go wrong (unlikely), as long as you have a working bootloader you can restore just about anything else. Just take your time and follow instructions written specifically for the DHD, the best ones are generally found in these forums.
By the way, you need to have Eng S-OFF (engineering bootloader) to flash radios in the standard way, do you have that yet? If not, jkoljo's tool for that is the best way, it has loads of fail-safes built in to make sure it works correctly.
To answer your questions, you can ignore the provider name (e.g. Orange, Cingular) - that just means the radio was released specifically for that carrier, but it often works well with other networks. For example the best radio for me on Froyo was the Cingular one, but I'm on Vodafone in the UK.
It's hard to tell you the best radio, as it depends on your network, location, etc. - for example one radio might use more power, and use more battery in areas with good signal strength (e.g. cities), but it would work better in areas with a poor signal. This is why some people flash different radios to test them.
It can also depend on which ROM you're planning to use. Gingerbread ROMs are generally built to work with the 28th April official radio, so I would suggest starting with that if you're on a GB ROM.
By the way, the key bit of the radio name that identifies it is the part after the underscore character "_", so for the
Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - HTC Ace Gingerbread S 2.36.405.5
radio you can refer to it as the "26.09.04.11_M2" radio.
If you're on a Froyo ROM, I would start off with the 26.04.02.17_M2_SF radio Drakknar recommends. If you're on a Gingerbread ROM, I would start with 26.09.04.11_M2. If it works fine, you're done. Unless you're like some of us, obsessively searching for something just slightly better.
Just don't forget that if you flash a radio other than the one recommended for the ROM, you should also flash the matching RIL file. The radio thread has a link to the RIL thread. The RIL for the ROM's recommended radio will already be included in it, though.
Anyone else reading this should feel free to jump if they have any differing advice!
I already have ENG S-OFF and I am using a Gingerbread ROM more specifically TRUE SENSE 3.0 - i00 ROM 5.5 (Since Android version that my device reports is 2.3.3)
But I have some issues with creating and renaming folders on the Home screen, and I cannot report it as bug because I do not have the required posts
Anyway Thanks again for the quick and detailed answer!

Ah, that ROM does recommend the 26.04.02.17_M2_SF radio, I see what you mean, I assume they have included the relevant RILs so I would start off with that one. It certainly performed very well for a lot of people, despite being an older radio.
Good luck with your homescreen bug.
