When refering to radio rom it means the RADIO that is used for signal and batt life is built into the rom. there is a program for FM radio in the threads. If you search for it you ill find it

any bell users update?
This is the same radio that came on my Sprint Touch. It is a pretty good radio but there are some places where I still can't get reception. Basic reception issues that you will get with most any radio.
Overall the coverage with this radio is excellent.
DCD I Love You!!!
Im A Bell User, And I Was Having Reception Issues In My House,
In My Own Bedroom Infact, After Installing This Radio, Those Issues Seem
To Have Gone Away, No More Static, And Voice Breaking Off!!
Thank You!!
O To Install Simply Unlock Your Phone With The Custom Bootloader,
Then Run The Radio Exe
And DCD
The Altel Touch Radio From What I Heard Is Newer Then 2.13
Is It Possible That You Can Get Your Hands On That?
would this work with telus touch as well ?? It only changes the radio and that's it?
thanks
yes it should work for the telus touch as well!
just a note installing this radio is like installing a rom, it will wipe your phone clean so do a backup.

Where did you find that vogue update file that you extracted the radio from? I would like a copy.
Quick Question for dcd
I was wondering if you would recomend the 2.13 radio over the 1.40 to use in conjunction with your 1.6.10 sprint rom? I know in the end its all up to me just wondering what you thought about it.
Thanks for all your work

Over @ PPCgeeks, I believe Latissimo has the complete ROM with that radio...... just check their FTP site...

any chance of a Alltel Radio ROM? Since a guy here posted its newer then bell and sprint....thanks
Telus 2.15
For the person who asked about use of this on a Telus Touch: I got my Touch in November and the Radio ROM that came with it is newer than this (2.15) so you don't even need this one.
DCD, If I'm not mistaken, it's the same firmware you used in your custom ROM 0.20? (Which I love, btw... and am waiting eagerly for your next one)
DJ
I just installed this 2.13 radio Rom on my Bell HTC Touch and its working fine. It seems to have full bars for my EV Data connection all the time now, but it still only has 2 bars when it drops down to 1X for a voice call when I'm at the back of my house. THis is the same as before with the 1.59.10 Rom. I tested out the voice and is sounds a bit better so I think its improvement so far.
i just want to know which has faster data speeds as some say the 159.10a is very fast
I have a US version of the diamond but the signal isn't really good. I have radio ver. 1.00.25.08 and rom ver:1.93.442.4WWE. Should I change the radio ver?? if so, which one should I get?
I think it's better first go into Phone / menu / options /band and there deselect "auto" option and select your type of network ( like GSM ). For me it worked. All the best
radio
only way to find whats best for you is to flash and try other radios.
good luck

The 'U' version of the radio has hsxpa (hsdpa+) enabled as the default whilst the 'P' version has hsdpa enabled.
Hsdpa+ is an enhanced data protocal offering higher data speeds but is not yet available widely.
If your carrier/country does not have hsdpa+ then the 'U' or 'P' radios will work excatly the same.
But what does the M2 mean? Seen it on a few radio links.
I's probably a stupid question, but here it goes :
My radio is : 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2, recommended radio for the rom i use (Revolution HD) is 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 (No U).
Is it the same ?

very good question.. i was going to ask it but did a search and as this topic is the closest topic to the question .. bump for the both of us .. just wanting to make sure before iflash Revoluion HD if i should Flash radio or not..
i am waiting for this answer too.
The answer...
I have now been searching all over the web, reading lots of posts on this.
And now I think I know enough to share the secrets of it all
First the radio image (f.ex. 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2) is the only one of this version. It will show a P or U in the first part, depending on settings in the build.prop file, on the phone (build.prop lies in the /system folder).
The setting controlling this is called ro.ril.hsxpa. It is set to a number, which can be hard to figure out what means.
Mine was set to 3 as default and that gave me a P in the radio version. I haven't found out what 3 means, I could only find this info:
ro.ril.hsxpa=0 - UMTS r99
ro.ril.hsxpa=1 - HSDPA
ro.ril.hsxpa=2 - HSDPA/HSUPA
I changed it to 2 and rebooted and now I have a U in the radio version. I am not sure, but I think my 3G speed went up a bit. It is now fairly stable at 4.5mbit down / 1.2mbit up.
(Probably just my imagination )
By the way, the setting called ro.ril.hsdpa.category also affects the 3G speed.
Theres a lot of info on this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982082
Hope this helps some people, as it would have helped me when I was chasing the special U version of the radio, a couple of days ago
Edit: Apparently the speedtest application cannot show any higher than 4.5 in download. Going to their webpage I get up to 7.6 mbit down :-O
Yeah... I have tried with P mode and speedtest have had problems in testing... In U mode, the speedtest works very well...
In Europe, the correct mode is "U"
Good post co2-guy
sorry but I don't think I understand properly, what you say is that I flash this radio and the letter U or P will appear on the phone, depending on my system and network configuration?
or
Do I have to hunt for proper radio package for my network? (with P or U)
Sorry to ask a silly question
Hi everyone,
I'm aware that my question isn't raised in the right place, but I have found nowhere to my problem.
I'm using leedroid rom and it's very nice of him to produce such an excellent rom.
After flashing rom, I continued to flash "radio 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2" as he recommended.
This is the message I received in command line window
"sending 'radio' (24960 KB)... OKAY [ 4.219s]
writing 'radio'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)"
I just wondered how to flash this radio version.
Please help!

Wether HSPA (hsdpa/hsupa) works (identified as hsxpa) or not is solely controlled by the build.prop
the U and P simply is a marker for what is enabled..
you can flash the "P" radio, but it will show up as U (or others) after the flash if the build.prop enables use of both downlink and uplink high speed packet access.
@Co2-guy
Change the values found in your build prop to:
ro.ril.hsdpa.category = 10
ro.ril.hsupa.category = 6
remove any other entries of it (before the # begin build properties comment)
and change them under the # ace RF team request comment
(Reference the build.prop from my rom as an example, I've cleaned it up and my speeds are phenomenal: http://dcom.me/cX1ec)
you'll have slightly faster speeds that you're getting now.

This radio have any improved on battery live or signal?
well, my dhd Is currently locked to it and 2.43.661.1 (because thats what they returned it to me from repair with)
but from what I remember before hand when the phone was running Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2, signal strength has improved from that one, same with wifi, battery is about the same though.
As the title says, I have the Telus Desire HD on the telus network, just rooted it and installed the leedroid rom.
Now it recommends that I flash the new radio to it, but I've seen radio's that are Telus specific out there, do I need to use one of those? If so could anyone point me in the direction of the newest one/one I should use?
I've found these two pages with telus radios...

I have a HTC Desire HD from telus also but have not updated te radio. I have used my handset perfectly here in Canada on all the carriers and also in Europe. IMO there is no need to flash the radio as it works just fine. Unless there is something I am missing.. someone please chime in. OP where are you located?
Well agreed, It's probably not necessary... but if it can benefit in any small amount, if i know something will work, I might as well. Works perfectly here on the west coast, but as I said,if it can improve battery life, and maybe get more coverage, I may as well.
Can anyone help me out on this?
Bumping it one last time hoping someone has an answer..
Just my personal opinion of changing the Radio, I live in Penticton BC and I run a DHD from Telus on Telus and I just recently flashed from stock radio to the recommended radio from ARHD which is 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M. I went from H "1"-2 bars Yellow -101dBm 6asu / 3G "2"-3 bars Blue -108dBm 4asu and stayed mostly on 3G not by choice, to H "3"-4 bars Blue -94dBm 8asu/ 3G "4" bars Blue -87dBm 13asu. So for me the Radio change was extremely beneficial!
It depends on what firmware you are on...... custom rom support different radio RILS (not much of a difference though)... the thing to flash a RADIO find the proper RIL... that to if you are using Sense rom.... other roms like CM or MIUI do not require RIL....
Thanks for the feedback, tried it with the radio reccomended for the leedroid rom and it worked no problem, so far seems like it might draw a little more battery though and the wifi connectivity might not be as good either, but I"m going to try it for a few days.
Is there any likely downside to flashing the newest radio out (along with the RIL for it) which I think is the one reccomended br ARHD.. Is there kernel settings or anythign like that specific to the radio/RIL as part of the rom?
Don't know what Telus means (I understand it's a provider, wait before fighting...)
In China there is 2 type of DHD. CDMA and WCDMA.
If Radio HW is different, I will not be surprized that you need to flash a different radio. They can have the same piece of software for the 2 HW, but I don't know. I didn'tfind the answer to this question yet.
Of course one will work on the other network, but you can't have 3G (only GPRS/Edge). European DHD works on CDMA network... but no 3G.
Anyway, if it doesn't work, you can always flash back

Any ROM need a RIL. It's the abstraction layer between Android (the OS) and the radio (HW specific to phone). think of it as a driver on your computer.
Radio=firmware of your "device"
RIL=Driver of this "device"
Hello,
How can I localise the radio chipset on the bord ?
best regards
If you mean radio (gsm), it's located in Qualcomm SoC (processor, radio, etc... in one chipset).
Why do you need location?
What is problem?
Hello,
T thought that it was a separated chipset
I can't make a call
When I dial a number, it opens the screen calls it "call in progress" then 2 seconds after it cut "End Call".
However, the 3G connection works.
Best regards
Did you try to change settings?

Hello,
Yes I tried every things in sittings menu, I tried another reader SIM card, The same SIM card works correctly with another DHD, I tried a custom ROM, I tried another flex cable.
NO changes
Did you try to turn off wlan and try it again?
Or to turn off 3g?
If you use custom rom you don't now nothing because they can have a problems for some devices.
The best rom for testing is the latest stock shiped wwe ROM installed from ruu (not from hboot).
You can download it from here:

Hello,
I do flashing the RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed.exe,
before doing a custom rom install.
I do several tests without 3G nor wifi.
I tested the *#*#4636#*#* : phone information to fix GSM only.
I am in test with a stock rooted rom (DHD_WWE_3.12.405.1_STOCK_rooted_by_nitr00.zip), I have all time the same result : no calls in or out possible
Thanx
Did you try this?

Unsupported bands? Mine worked in all of the places I've been in Europe.
Just to make sure try a different SIM ( with different network - preferably 2G sim as most 3G cause haywire. )
If not then flash a radio FOR WWE as it may be outdated.

But you aren't the only one. And that's sad.

Well, to be honest tapatalk sends me to the first unread post; therefore I couldn't read the post that you flashed a WWE RUU.
However, I'd think you should flash a radio specific to your region as their could be difference to the WWE. But I don't know if this would work as they're device dependent? But it's worth a shot.
Though, accordingly to your posts you've tried many software troubleshooting and checking the flex cable. I wouldn't know anything else...
