Hi
Posting it cause people here can have enough knowledge to help me.
I have problem with library on my htc touch2.
First of all I don't want to use Windows Media Player on my desktop computer.
I keep my music on \Storage Card\My Documents\My Music\.
I also have some wav files ringtones on Device and some wav game files on \Storage Card\Games\.
I want to been able to play music in WMP mobile.
If I clear my library (delete XMEMediaLibrary.mlb) and tried to use files browsing instead of library browsing I can't select multiple files to add to current playlist, is there any way?
If I want to add my music to library I must go to 'update library' with no any directory selection to scan, it result that my library have all audio files from device and sd card. I know I can remove XMEMediaLibrary.mlb from Device to restrict library to sd card only but don't want to have game's audio files in library also.
Also when I put new music on sd card I must 'update library' and again delete .mlb file from device, right?
It's really pathetic! is there any way, maybe some registry tweaks to make WMP mobile library scan only My music directory? it must be something :/
nobody knows any sollution?

Ok, I'm very sorry if this is a total noob question... I suspect it is. I searched on several occasions to find posts about it but came up with nothing.
I have a Cingular 8525 and I am currently enjoying the cooked Cingy Black rom. My problem is with Media Player. I have a 100 or so mp3 files on my storage card and I would love for them to show up in Media player but they do not.
From the Library screen I choose "Menu" > "Update Library". It searches for files and finds the ones I want... shows that it is "Adding files..." but when it is finished there still isn't any music available. I can browse and select files but I can't create playlists and so forth.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Were these non-DRM mp3 files? Or were you using something like Napster to sync them before?
If they were DRM, when you flashed the ROM windows no longer has the DRM licenses for the songs. If so, You just need to sync again. Deleting the old DRMed mp3s
I have the same problem and they are not drm files.
all song names have to be in english

Try MORTPLAYER. That is what I use to get around...
does it support bluetooth playing and when i press the "next" button on the headset it goes to the next song?
I am sure you guys have done this, but if your mp3 are on storage card, make sure you select "Storage Card" instead of "My Device" under the menu/Library pull up. By default it's set to My Device which will turn up empty list.
I had a problem with this once before as well. Its weird because on my moms and brothers 8525 you can choose in the storage card as an option to view files where mine requires me to go to the menu (bottom right) and select open file. You can locate your storage card and playlists. I just got the moto s9's and they work awsome and I can control from headset.
also make sure you didnt delete the METADATA folder on your storage card because thats used by WMP to see the files on the card. Make sure you have "view all files" checked off on file explorer.
You may have a corrupt playlist - this happens to me a lot. Try deleting the folder "MSMETADATA" from your storage card (you'll need to select "show all files" in File Explorer's Menu to see this directory), then go back into media player and rebuild your library.

This is _exactly_ what has been happening to me. Never had an issue with TCPMP or MortPlayer. But I have to use WMP10 to play my new DRMed Napster tracks (what can I say, all-you-can-eat is sweetness).
This is what I did to fix (for now) the problem. It happened after about...a week after uploading some tracks:
1. Shut down WMP. (Start>Settings>System>Memory>Running Programs>)
2. Delete MSMETADATA folder on storage card through file explorer.
3. Open WMP and Menu>Update Library.
If I don't do step 3 WMP doesn't have the option of using the storage card.
Thanks for the help!
i had this problem before...
fix: file explorer > storage card > DELETE the folder MSMETADATA nd then reupdate...should work...always does for mee at least
Device: Archos A101IT
Desktop Computer: Linux
In what format should the m3u files be when copied to the sd card.
When I create a plain file with name song.m3u and content
/Music/AlbumName/01-song.mp3
/Music/AlbumName/02-song.mp3
/Music/AlbumName/03-song.mp3
and do a rescan of the library the playlist appears in the list of playlists but when you select it it's empty.
When selecting the playlist from the standard file manager it begins to start the music app but then a message appears "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file."
Thisng I tried.
Add the #EXTM3U as the first line of the file (Not working)
Changed the end-of-line character from linux to dos format (Not working)
Relative paths (Not working)
Absolute paths /mnt/sdcard/Music (Not working)
Absolute paths /Music (Not working)
So I put the question to the specialists. How can i create playlists on my computer so that i can use them on my archos device.
+1
I've had the same problems and would also like to know how to use m3u-playlists on the archos.
I've tried the Just Playlist-app but it hadn' worked as i supposed it.
After trying a few dozen programs that claimed to do playlist import/export I finally found one i can live with. At least I can backup my existing playlists to SD
Meridian is a music player that can manage it's own playlists called PlayQ and import and export them to the stock music application of the Archos 101.
Here is a little explanation.

Still searching for something simpler and more resource friendly.
is there a way to organize folders for direct access in both gallery and music, so we can see some organized folders in image gallery, and have the option to add some folders to the playlist in music
is there a way to put images for wallpapers in the htc wallpaper preview?
or what is the simpliest way to add wallpaper from any folder?
If you wish to hide a folder from Android simply add a full stop (or a period - US) before the folder name.
E.g - Media --> .Media
If you don't want Android to scan a particular folder, add a file into that folder without an extension, called "nomedia".
E.g - nomedia.txt = Wrong
- nomedia = Correct
good tips but that's not what i want.
what i need is to make some new custom folders and put in there images and music, and let gallery see the images folders, and let music the new music folders, ex. if i paste images in images folder on sd card or in the dcim folder it will not read it, but making a new folder directly on the root sd card with some images will appear in gallery, is ther a way to make subfolders in images folder or any sd card folder appear in gallery and music player.
i want to browse in music player to a specific folder not let it scan what i have.
it seems as one of the weekest point in android, to have the option to browse folders for multimedia is not something easy by native.
i tried a lot of ways to let the device recognise or browse to folders with no success, in fact, music player may browse unfriendly to a specific folder, and gallery may recognize a custom folder on the sd card each time u reboot ur device, but it will not refresh any folders u add, edit or remove, unless u reboot, even force close gallery and then reopen will not do the trick. i tried even (3d gallery, flan, and 3d gallery v2) all have the same no refresh list unless reboot.
SOLUTION:
call it temp or workaround, but it did the trick for what i want and what others may want:
1-music folder (nice browser for music, some will not like the UI, but it's simply a music browser and do what it should do) no eq, no sound enhancement.
2-power amp (advanced music player with good folders support)
3-quickpic (image folder browser, that will do what gallery is intended to do, plus the ability to see all sdcard folders and refresh them at any change with no reboot) and even faster than any other gallery.
this is my experience and tests, please correct me if i'm wrong at any point.
Hi, guys.
Does anyone have any idea, why setting sd_exclude_path_path parameter for AudioManager to prevent it from scanning a folder for music does not work?
Say I want to skip \Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones folder. I create two keys in the HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config :
sd_exclude_path_path_0, (string) = \Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones
sd_exclude_path_type_0, (dword) = 0
Then, I reboot, rescan the library, delete the library cash in Appdata, remove and insert my SD card, you name it, and... nothing works. My ringtones that are stored on the SD card in the said folder are still in my library.
It's annoying as hell, especially since if I use the alternative method of making those files disappear from the library: marking them "hidden" with Total Commander, they also disappear from the ringtone selection menu.
My Sense 2.5 version is 2.5.20121324.1 AudioManager version is 1.7
Would be grateful for any ideas!
Hey What's up.
I cutted a scene from a Video (TS format), Duration 0:16 .
Then I converted it from TS to Mp3, Wav, MP4, MP4A
and transfered it to the phone. No matter what format I tried, the file doesn't open, can't change the default ringtone
because the phone does not detect it in Files Manager nor Music.
I tried to open the files followed download paths (where it stored on phone) I recieve Error(1). What to do?
Rebbot your phone, to allow the system to poll new files and list them properly, then use a file explorer (I recommend you use MiX File Explorer as it works best), and move the ringtone you've just made to this directory:
storage/emulated/MIUI/.ringtone/
(Or your internal storage directory) then open settings and it will appear quickly. Ringtones can me *.MP3, *.OGG, or even *.WAV I believe. The reason Music doesn't see it is because in the Music app, it filters out small files and short music so it doesn't clutter up if you have actual music there. Below is a screenshot of the default settings:
