Hi, I would like to ask everybody to post the results using this demo app from Qualcomm that you can find in the market. It's interesting to compare using all different ROM builds and firmware versions.
Here it goes the description:
"Neocore is an OpenGL-ES 1.1 graphics performance benchmark for Android devices using Qualcomm's Adreno graphics hardware. It shows off some of the techniques that are possible on hardware accelerated platforms such as 1-pass lightmaps and DOT3 bumpmaps."
The demo is quite interesting and truly shows off some of the Android power for games.
My result after the first test:
Model - HERO GSM
ROM - Kogudroid 1.0 beta
Result - 23.3 FPS
Edit: After disabling sound: 27.3 FPS
com.qualcomm.qx.neocore.apk
Cant find it on the market mate..
I'm using the KoguDroid 1.0 beta ROM (Eclair), maybe that's the reason?
In the market, I looked for "benchmark" and the app was there.
.
Model - HERO GSM
ROM - Modaco 3.0
Result - 29.7 FPS
Can't find it at all, found a different benchmarking app. Checked through Demo category for any Neocore or Qualcomm, nothing. Is it possible to post it here?
Model: Hero GSM nordic version
ROM: Hero/Espresso hybrid 1.1 w/ RoseUI enabled
Result: 3.0 FPS
well... lets put it this way; I dont recommand the roseui to anyone (yet atleast!)
I edited the first post with link to the apk.
Regarding espresso hybrid ROM, raider stated he would have the 3d issue fixed by 1.2 so somethings probably not right there...
Model - HERO GSM (NORDIC)
ROM - MCR 3.1 RC2 3.1
Result -29.6 FPS
MCR 3.1 RC2 3.1 = MoDaCo Custom ROM - Release Candidate 2
i get and error trying to install via adb... "install failed older sdk". Installing via astro i get could not install on phone.
currently using MCR 2.6 and gsm hero. any ideas?

Same problem on my MCR 3.2 Hero. This version works however, though it did give me one f/c in the menu, first time I ran it. Unfortunately I can't find an internal version number to distinguish it from the non compatible version. I found the above link in this recent xda post
Following stats from Neocore, at default resolution 320x430, first without sound & then with sound, results in fps. Remaining stats for my own records: Linpack java Mflops/s; SetCPU long bench ms
Hero GSM
MCR 3.2: 29.3/24.6; 2.046; 25508 (can't replicate a run near original posted 19078ms & it seems too low so think might have been a typo).
Model - HERO GSM
ROM - VanillaEclair 1.3 PE
Result - 23.9 FPS (With audio)
Model - HERO GSM
ROM - MoDaCo 3.2
Result - 33 FPS (Without audio)
MoDaCo 3.2 @ 710Mhz with Lightspeed kernel.
Model - Gsm Hero
Rom : Behero+ 1.0
Result : 24.8fps (Without audio)
Model - HERO GSM
ROM - Kimera 1.7 @ 710 MHz
Result - 33.1 FPS (w/o audio) / 29.5 (w/audio)

THIS KERNEL IS NOW OBSOLETE. CM7 Nightly 90+ and my Nexus 1.2.5+ require TRUE 2.6.35+ Kernel
All GB Sense ROMs should use my GB Sense Kernel
All Froyo AOSP ROMs should use my Froyo AOSP Kernel
All Froyo Sense ROMs should use my Froyo Sense Kernel[/b]
Hi XDA members and fellow MT4G users:
This is my SECOND kernel hack. I want to thank Gr8Gorilla, Erasmux, dumfuq and several others I cannot recall for inspiring me to venture into this unfamiliar territory for me.
What is a Kernel? The Kernel is the Foundation in which everything else builds upon in any software system.
[Car Analogy]: Kernel is like the Engine, Electrical system and the Transmission to a car. The Library, Framework and the Apps [AKA ROM] are the body frame and the rest of the Car.
THIS KERNEL is BASED ON AOSP/CM7 Source Code. So it is COMPATIBLE ONLY WITH AOSP/CM7 Builds.
Please DO NOT use any task killers, they DO NOT improve performance nor battery life. They INTERFERE with your phone's stability (more crashes) and App compatibilities (Forced Close).
MinMax Governor (Battery Saver)
This governor will try to minimize the frequency jumps/changes which cause voltage spikes/changes which supposedly drains more battery life... Supposedly designed to work with SetCPU... so give it a whirl...
SmartAss Governor (Balanced)
This governor has a built-in "profile" similar to SetCPU, so screen off will use lower clock rate thus conserve more battery, but it also has a fast wake up feature so that user interaction will not see the lag when switching from Sleep to Wake state.... (So SetCPU Profiles are sorta redundant when using this governor, you can still use SetCPU to OC to higher than default Clock frequency).
Interactive Governor (Performance)
This governor is designed to put more priority to User Interface (UI aka Apps) tasks, therefore appears more responsive then the traditional OnDemand governor. So if you want the smoothest UI interaction, this governor is for you...
Brain F*ck Scheduler - (BFS)
This scheduler is designed to be simple and speedy tailor specifically for user interface type systems such as desktop/smart phone devices where user interaction is MORE important than serving 1 million web requests (CFS, the default scheduler) at the same time (think of nimble desktop workstations vs large corporate servers).
SLQB - (SLAB allocator with Queue)
This memory allocator is designed for small number of CPUs system (such as desktop or smart phone devices). This allocator is design to be simple and it is optimized for using order-0 pages as much as possible (order-0 pages are the simplest therefore quickest type of memory in a Linux system to allocate). Not all kernels are using SLQB including CM7 main line...
Fair Budget Queue (BFQ I/O scheduler)
This I/O scheduler is an improvement on top of Completely Fair Queue (CFQ). CFQ is fair in terms of time but not in terms of throughput / bandwidth, so BFQ make sure that both time and throughput / bandwidth are balanced across all requests.
Installation Instructions:
Here's a step by step instruction to install this kernel:
Warning Version 2.6.3+ is COMPATIBLE ONLY with Android 2.3.4 ROMs such as latest CM7 nightlies, MIUI, RoyalGinger.
All Android version 2.3.3 ROMs such as older versions of CM7 including RC1, RC2, RC3, CM 7.0.1~7.0.3 should use version 2.5.2!
[ FINAL VERSION ]
[ CFS-Smartass ] (Mainline)
The File ==> CM Kernel 2.6.6 CFS Low Voltage #162 <==
The File ==> CM Kernel 2.6.6 CFS Stock Voltage #163 <==
[ BFS-Interactive ] (Enthusiast Edition)
The File ==> CM Kernel 2.6.6 BFS Low Voltage #164 <==
The File ==> CM Kernel 2.6.6 BFS Stock Voltage #165 <==
Low Voltage - Under Volt the processor, therefore uses Less Battery, but NOT ALL CHIPS can handle Under Volt.. If you experience instability, try the Stock Voltage Version.
Stock Voltage - Uses the voltage values from ORIGINAL HTC Kernel Source.
There are NO PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE between the 2 versions!
[Optional CFS kernel ONLY]
If this is first time you FLASH my kernel or you just recently FLASHED any ROM,
To use my CFS-Tweaks from version xxx, you must FLASH xxx first, then FLASH the latest version.
1. download the above file (via phone directly or to a PC)
2. copy the downloaded zip file to /sdcard/download/
3. Open ROM Manager and select "Reboot into Recovery" and select "OK"
4. Once in recovery, select "wipe cache partition", select "Yes", then select "advanced", then select "Wipe Dalvik Cache", then select "Yes" again. Once finished, click the back button to go back to the main recovery menu. On that menu, select "Install Zip From SDCad", then select "Choose zip from SDCard", then go to /sdcard/download and select the downloaded zip file and let it run its script.
5. Once the script is done, select "reboot system now"
Note: After FLASHING, the first reboot may take longer than usual, please be patient... After the first reboot, it may lag during initial load (let everything finish loading). Once everything is loaded and phone is ready for use, reboot the phone a 2nd time and the lag will be gone and everything should be silky smooth...
NEWS BULLETIN:
Version 2.6.6 is OUT!!!!
This is most likely the FINAL VERSION for this kernel. CM7 is moving to a real 2.6.35+ kernel from very soon. Once that happens, this 2.6.32 kernel will be made obsolete!!!
Please don't hesitate to talk among yourselves and help each other out... The MT4G/XDA community is what inspired me to hack kernels for everyone since everyone here is nice and helpful to each other... Keep helping each other.... Famous proverb: It's better to give than to receive...
BUGS:
[ Android 2.3.4 ROM ]
If you experienced WiFi issue, it means the bcm4329.ko modules was NOT installed properly.
Extract the bcm4329.ko from the same zip file, then
[ with ADB ]
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules
[ with Root Exploror ]
1. touch Mount R/W
2. copy bcm4329.ko to /system/lib/modules
3. long press on the bcm4329.ko and select Permissions then check read, write for owner, read for group and read for others, click ok
4. long press again on the bcm4329.ko and select Change Owner, then pick 0-root for owner and pick 0-root for group, click ok
I will investigate to see if I can fix the updater script so this would be done automatically with 2.3.4 ROMs
Not All CHIPS ARE CREATED EQUAL
[NOT REALLY A BUG, when OC'ed, everything is questionable]
Interactive and OnDemand Governors will freeze the phone when the delta / difference between the Max and Min frequency is too large..
Ie, Max 1843MHz~Min 245MHz -- will lock up, but Max 1840MHz and Min 1000MHz will NOT...
TO DO:
version 2.x.x -- Haven't thought about it yet...

Cool! I put lots of new technologies into this kernel from my Sense Kernels and I was afraid of it not working at all since I was unable to test it myself... I am happy that you guys like it. Please test the heck out of it and report any errors on my thread... now try your best to beat my Sense Kernel Users high scores in synthetic benchmarks..

Hi, @deepx10
So, after flashed this kernel my tab is another device. Even without overclocking configuration it is quite fast. The system files is converted to ext4, you can control voltage (save battery) and use a Voodoo Sound app.... Ow! And use cwm on recovery mod too... So,... Is it enough? kkkkkk
Good luck!
Regards!
Humberto.
You can teach me how to install the Rom P1000LVJJM9 (no signed bootloader) with "Heimdall" software, or if you have compressed it clean please can you post?

Baseband: P1000LVJJM9 (rooted)
initramfs: P1000LVJJM9
My procedure:
I did a full backup with Titanium Backup APP (I copied this files to my external_sd) and applied a factory reset.
After, I flashed this KERNEL on P1000LVJJM9 (without bootloader signed) baseband version with "heimdall" software.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like this:
heimdall flash --kernel zImage_ltn_2_8_9
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After flash, set your device for recovery mode (Press Vol UP + Home + Power).
You will see a different boot system.
Wait a few minutes and after.... only ENJOY!
Ps. I advise you to reapply a factory reset.

You can try flash with heimdall.
If don't work, you will return baseband JJ3.
Please let me know if works. I can try compile a version for N models.

Well, I flashed the kernel via Heimdall as stated in the OP on a P1000N and it did flash, but once I rebooted in CW and the Ext4 conversion was about to be performed I get an error message that SD couldn't be mounted.
Any ideas???
Nevermind got it to to work. So, I can attest to it working on P-1000N. Good job!!!

I have the same problem on P1000L. i didn't wipe factory reset, but i don't believe this is the cause!
Honestly all I did was pulling the sd card out in the error screen, put it back in and rebooted back to recovery it worked and did the conversion.
One other thing: It is very important to do do the wipe after flashing the kernel I got into all kinds of trouble with my personal Tab, all because I forgot to wipe. But honestly this thing is flying now. Only problem seems to be thumbnail generation on the Gallery app.

Well, I must have an external de card for the recovery works. After I insert one the backup process begins. Let me see.

Thanks I did it by replacing the file using Root Explorer since for some reason adb remount is not working for me. It did help a little but it's still not working 100% on the Gallery and on the Honeycomb Music app. Honestly nothing I can't live with.
So far I'm having great battery life even with O/C @1400, tried a couple of Quadrant tests and I noticed that I can get a 1900+ score as I can get 2200+ and had a couple of errors while running it too. Other than that great kernel.
Does anybody have any voltage settings yet?

Hi,
I also had these problems and solve them when I replace sensor file and reboot.
My configuration on Voltage Control is:
app: VoltageControl-gt-600.apk mirror this app can decrease voltage in OC_kernel(add 600MHz& 1.4GHz)
Scheduler: bfq
Limit clock to: 1400Mhz
Code:
1400 Mhz: 1450 - 50 = 1400mV
1200 Mhz: 1300 - 50 = 1250mV
1000 Mhz: 1250 - 75 = 1175mV
800 Mhz: 1200 - 75 = 1125mV
600 Mhz: 1100 - 100 = 1000mV
400 Mhz: 1050 - 100 = 950mV
200 Mhz: 950 - 150 = 800mV
100 Mhz: 950 - 150 = 800mV

Humberto

This is my first post in this forum and I hope this works as well for you as it has for me.
First and foremost: I am not a developer; just an advanced user that has spent many many many hours in these forums and has used the tools I have found to make my deice the best it can possibly be. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR DEVICE BY USING THE SCRIPTS PROVIDED. I did not create these scripts and for the life of me cannot remember which forum or developer(s) I got them from; I am sorry that I cannot give the proper credit.
I have been using this DATA2SD method for about a month with several different ROMs and have found it to be very fast and very stable (only one crash in 2 weeks using Hyperdroid 2.1, not sure what caused it).
I am currently using the latest Hyperdroid CM7 (big Thanx to Pongster for a fantastic build!), albeit a version cooked using dsixda's kitchen to include my favorite apps and a few other changes. I have also used these scripts with the AOSP MIUI 1.6.24 and up ROMs (my NAND configuration has not changed between the two [MIUI and CM7], not sure if the large cache size helps or not). I have only used this process successfully with these two builds and cannot attest to the compatibility or stability if used with any other firmware.
I am using a 200MB system partition with 45mb for cache with Clockwork Recovery 4 (partitioned and updated using the HD2 toolkit). My SD card is using EXT3 set at 1024MB. Once again, this is the only configuration I have used successfully.
**BUG**
The only bug I have noticed so far is that whenever the device is rebooted CM7's Theme Manager reverts to the default (system) theme.
Instructions are included in the download. The scores shown were attained running Hyperdroid CM7 with the governor set to performance at 1152mhz (the highest stable overclock speed for my device using an 2.3.4 based ROM). The scores are provided by Quadrant Advanced (of course) and Device Mark.
nice but why is it only for tmous ?

It should work as well as it works on the tmous version because it doesn't use that much place that requires a tmous. You can't to anything wrong
If u try it I would say please report back so that the dev know if it works there too

I included instructions with the download; these are scripts that are flashable visa clockwork recovery and should work with your device. Compatibility issues usually come into to play with the ROM that is used; it must support scripts (I think the proper term is init.d scripts). Usually Rom s that already have Apps2sd support this but i have only used this process successfully ( stable) with the AOSP MIUI and Hyperdroid ROMs

or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852219&page=37
or is another approach?
I don't believe so; i believe the process outlined in that post (i could be wrong) uses a data image similar to the one Rafpigna uses in Rafdroid or in Acura MIUI which is stored on the root of the sd card. This script uses ext 3 for the storage. I could be wrong, this is my first time seeing that post.

I have not been able to use Raf's kernel with any 2.3.4 Rom at 1.5 ghz with or without these scripts. I haven't seen anyone we in the forums mention this so maybe it is my device... if anyone has a suggestion I would live to see it, i really like Raf's kernel, sips the battery...tytungs kernel maxes at 1190, which is also unstable on my device with 2.3.4 Roms

tytung is stable for me and 1190mhz on tytung is fast as 1536mhz on rafpigna one, so i was thinking that 1536mhz with tytung would be awesome...
btw with hyperdroid cm7 v2.1 with tytung at 1190mhz and you trick i'm only able to reach """only""" 2500 point in quadrant, and 3d graphic is corrupted (some 3d bench are black). it's possible to update graphic driver with an update.zip in recovery?

I am running Hyperdroid cm7 2.1 at 1152MHz ( the highest stake clock speed for my device). Have you tried setting the governor to performance in cyanogenmod settings? Chainfire 3d lets you update the driver of the device but this program is meant to make the rendering of complex 3d graphics easier for older devices (at least that's my understanding). I am using this program but I did not apply the effects to quadrant ( or any other app). The high scores database read/ write speed.

yes when i play games or do some bench, i set performance and min and max at 1190mhz it's possible to go higher than 1190mhz with tytung r10? (limit is written on the kernel or somewhere in system params?)
i tryed to install chainfire drivers but i still got black screen on 3d tests
3d tests on newer gb cm7 are working ok, so i'm asking if there is an update.zip flashable in recovery to update driver in this pongster's hyperdroid cm7 rom

Looks like a nice script! Questions:
1) Is it necessary to use the same partition sizes as you for it to work?
2) Once Data2SD is implemented, can you restore data partition to SD using advanced restore in CWM?
So does this script really make the rom faster and more stable than it already is? Like for example dorimaxes rom?

Thank you...
1) The short answer is; I don't know. I have used this partition setup with several ROMs and just decided to try it with the scripts. I am using this ad my daily driver and have been for about a month with only one crash, so Idon't want to start experimenting with the setup just incase ( Hyperdroid is a very stable Rom to begin with).
2) The script itself is not apart of the backup so you would have to follow the installation procedure after the restore.

i have installed this rom, but than decided to go back to the runny droid 4.0, because no affect i didn`t see!!! The speed for me is the same, and in RomManager it shows "version 4.0".
Installation Instructions:
Here's a step by step instruction to install this kernel:
[normal mode]
1. download the above file (via phone directly or to a PC)
2. copy the downloaded zip file to /sdcard/download/
3. extract boot.img from the zip file to a location of your choice ON YOUR PC
4. open up a command window (Windows) or shell terminal (Linux/Mac)
5. connect USB cable to the phone
6. type "adb reboot bootloader"
[fastboot mode]
7. type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
8. Once fastboot flash is completed, disconnect the USB cable
9. Select hboot using volume buttons on the phone
[recovery mode]
10. Select recovery
11. go to /sdcard/download and select the downloaded zip file and let it run its script.

Add Low Power (LP) core overdrive
(What is LP overdrive? LP core is capable of running up to 620 MHz @ 1.3 volts, so I simply unlocked the LP core to allow it to operate @ max freq. The overdrive also adjust the G cluster / LP core cross over point. The stock version was @ 475MHz LP / 370 MHz G-cluster, I moved the cross over point to 620MHz LP / 513 MHz G-cluster).
What does all this mean? It means LP core is now able to handle more load up to 620MHz single core before switching over to the more power hunger G-Clusters. This should theoretically save more battery life (since LP core is designed to very power frugal in Hardware). When you check the CPU stats with CPUSpy, you will see the cross over points 513MHz and 620 MHz to have high usage time. <== THIS is normal because the stats counts BOTH the LP time and the G-Cluster time so it appears to have more time than other frequencies.

Hi faux,
As developer do you think that the flicker issue (on some devices) can be solved from the software side? I'm asking this becasue I'm still waiting for the fix from someone and don't want to send the device back to the shop if it will be possible to fix this via software.
Many thanks in advance!

Don't have the phone. so I don't know what flicker issues...
So can we set lower voltages with this kernel by using the app systemtuner?

On some devices at some brightness levels, mostly on gray images the screen behaves not as expected. It starts to flicker but only on the grey part of image. (for me at least).
It's like installing an OS on PC with a generic display driver, like if the refresh rates were not correct.
Here are some benchmarks screen shots:
Hi faux!
Can the kernel be flashed right onto ARHD 5.1.1 or does it have to be adapted to ARHD?
Greetings
Edit: Tried it myself and it works on ARHD 5.1.1
Antutu Benchmark is : 10121
Quadrant BM is: 4366
Unfortunately, I have to admit that my Antutu scrore was around 11000 with Bricked Kernel,
but whatever
