Hi, I came from the Wizard and am still learning my Rhodium, I have a few questions that will probably give me a "shoulda had a V8" moment once I hear the answers, but I will ask anyway...
1- how do I set speed dial?
On my wizard I was able to assign a button to a person and just press and hold.
2- is there any way/program to create a zoom function on the camera?
3- how do I make a tab/shortcut to NOTIFICATIONS?
4- I installed a Facebook app, other than putting it in the start menu or in the programs tab, is there a way I can create a dedicated tab (like people, calendar, messages, settings, etc) to go to Facebook?
5- where the heck do I put tunes I want to use as an alarm sound (not to be confused with ringtones)?
Thanks in advance for your input.
Here's me smacking my forhead...Shoulda had a V8!!

Voted.
I have tried dropping my sounds into the main windows directory, but when I go to set an alarm, it isn't reading my tunes. Perhaps there is a size limit or is it wav specific? I have even tried naming the file alarm-name as I have seen that in windows. I have tried resetting my device...nothing.
Do you have any idea what I may be doing wrong?
Again, thank you.

1. Go to the contact, hit the Menu softkey and "add to speed dial".
2. The zoom bar just below the TP2 screen zooms the camera.

I believe that alarm sounds must be in WAV format, or they won't be recognized.

Thank you, I didnt even know that, I should have RTFM LOL! but thank you!
It took me some time to figure out what the hell the zoom bar was, but now I think I have it.
I will try converting my files to wav format and maybe the alarms will work.
Setting a speed dial contact is next on my list.
Thank you for all the advice so far!!
Now does anyone have any idea if I can make a dedicated tab for Facebook, and also how to make a shortcut or tab for notifications?
Thanks in advance.
I am still trying to make more prominent/easier shortcuts or actual TF3 tabs for Facebook and notifications.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
I do have the Facebook app loaded in the programs tab and in the start menu. What I'd like to do is have an actual TAB...like Home, Weather, Programs...Facebook.

As far as I know those are preset into the 3d software, so its either going to have to be an update or one of the gurus here will have to hack the system.
For alarms, I like to use spoon alarm, it seems to work much much better at finding songs to use as alarms (and its really easy to use). Only thing thats no good is that you can't set multiple alarms like the windows one. Plus every soft reset you will have to reload spoon alarm for it to go off, but you can play music

To get them to show up for notifications and events:
- WAV files go in \Windows.
- MP3 & WMA files can work too, but you have to put them into \Application Data\Sounds
This should be the same for the alarm sounds, but I haven't actually used the alarm on mine yet (had it about 2 weeks).

To set a ringtone for a whole group, buy Ringo
http://ringo-mobile.en.softonic.com/pocketpc
Look in this forum for Vip PIM Ringtone from Vipul Patel.
This FREE application will set ringtones according to contact categories. It searchs the entire contacts database and sets the ringtone in each contact file. So, it runs once and does not sit in memory like some other applications.

Adding New Ringtones/SMS Notifications/Alarms
To add new ringtones or SMS alerts, connect your Desire to USB and mount the device on your PC. Browser to the following folders:
Ringtones: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
SMS Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Alarm Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/alarms
Copy your mp3 files into either of the folders above. Then go to:
Ringtone:Settings > sound and display > phone ringtone
SMS: Settings > sound and display > notification sound
Alarms: Set the sound when adding a new alarm.
Then select the ring tone you put in the above folder(s).
after you set those folders on your SD card .. your own mp3 will show up in the phone default ringtone menu..

first things first, i bought this phone through tigerdirect and it came unlocked with WM5.. i installed the EnergyROM and love the looks and functionality of it. I ran into a few problems.... im not the type to develop things on my own, but if there are written directions i would be able to follow it.
1. Phone always says that there is too much memory being used and i should try closing programs before opening other ones. But its weird bc nothing will be open, and i try and open the camera and it says memory is full. is it just a bug or is there a way to fix this?
2. Im trying to use .wav audio files as my text, e-mail, and alarm notifications. except when i add the .wav files to the my ringtones folder, they only show up in the ring tone section and not any others.
3. On the main screen of WM6.1 with the sliding panels, is there a way to get my SMS, MMS, Outlook and other e-mail accounts on the same tab? im tired of scrolling down, i would rather see it go to the right or left.
4. some keyboard functions dont match up when using the FN key (!,&,%,$) the only one that works is the question mark. is there a file i could install over the old one, or something i can do to fix it?
any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. thanx
No need to make new thread post in the thread of topic NRG ROM thread....

Just ask the author...
hahaha......
Can't you live with that?
1) It's free software
2) It's only displayed for a few second, after that it scrolls to the left and gone.
3) I think one of the reason the author put that text was his experience when some people sell his free software. He almost stop the development further but fortunately he has big heart and continue. Just do a search in the this forum.
I'm very happy with S2U2 and S2P. They have good looks, stable & customizable. These are the very first few programs I always install after I got a new phone or install a new rom.

Only prob is that after I syn my i tunes playlist by "double twist"(only free software i found to synch i tunes to WM)it appears as name but is always empty...in other words what i mean is that the sych playlist is read by window media player in my HTC touch HD but this software does not read it...if that happenes this will be a perfect software comparable to I phone/touch.Other issue is that at songs level the names of songs are not as they are in i tunes but from album to artist level they appear as one has tagged them in I tunes.
any suggestions plz!
Hello,
I'm still new to Android.
1. Can you tell me how to load a custom ringtone on this phone?
2. On my old WM phone I could set it to Vibrate 1st then ring so I could reach for my phone before it made noise (and disturb others) if I felt it vibrate. Is there any way to make this happen?

Look for an app called Ringdroid. You can trim and make any music on your phone a ringtone or notification...real easy to do.

Thanks - if i already have a ringtone (wav file for WM) I can't just load that to a directory on the phone?
I have a couple cool ringtones I've accumulated over the years that I'd like to get into my phone... They are mp3 format and I'm sorta lost as to how to load them in also.
Dont need any editing etc; just need to know how to make them show up in the ringtone list!
Its easier if you already have a ringtone that doesn't need editing to still use Ringdroid. Just open it up in the app and just save it like it is.

If its on your computer load it on your phone through Kies air. If you dont know what Kies is open the app on your phone and it will tell you what to type on your desktop. I think you'll get once you see
On the root of your SD card, create a folder called media, then create a folder inside that called audio. Inside the audio folder, you can create "alarms" "ringtones" and "notifications" folders. Then put whatever audio files you'd like in these respective folders. Reboot and the sounds should show up in the default selection list. Mine are all in mp3 format, I don't know if it would recognize wav files or not.

Any way to set it to vibrate first then ring? Basically I'd like the first ring to be a vibrate instead and then go to ring. It was handy on my old Vogue. I could leave it on ring but if I felt the vibration I could use my BT before people were annoyed by my ringer. It made sure I was covered in case I didn't feel the vibrate but it also made it more polite for people around me.

No setting that I'm aware of. To hack it you could create a ringtone that is silence for 5 or 10 or 3 secods at the beginning, then comes in with sound. Kind of a pain and would work only for that specific ringtone, but it would work.
So can you not use a MP3 for a ringtone or a wake up alarm on this thing? Or is there an app for it?
Thanks.
BTW, 1st Windows Phone, just came over from Apple/Android, am liking the Nokia quite a bit. Great UI experience.
Thanks

Yes, you can create your own custom MP3 ringtones, but you can't add custom alarms/notification sounds. Do a search for the specifics, but basically the file needs to be less than 1MB and you have to change the Genre to RINGTONE when you edit the fine in Zune.
But a much easier method is to use easyRing&Music (free in Marketplace) to search for and download a ringtone of your choice. I have created some and downloaded a few. Both options are simple.

If a custom ringtone is already on your phone, simply select it off the list. If not, create one on your desktop (MP3, less than 1MB). Open Zune Desktop, find your ringtone, edit the Genre to RINGTONE (you have to type of in the first time, select off list later), sync with your phone. Ringtone is on your phone.
