I just got a used hermes 100. Finally got it to connect with the usb running windows 7.
Checked bootloader and had this:
ipl-1.03
spl-1.11
Ran HardSPL v7. Bootloader said ipl-sspl by des spl 1.09.ds
Then I got the 260 error
Should I run HardSPL v9? and see if that works?
No, if you have an sd card then use the SD card method described on page 116, post 1160 of the Hard SPL thread. The SD card MUST be 2Gb or less and formatted FAT32...
Easiest way of flashing roms too....
You have sspl.exe running. If you can reset into windows then follow all instructions to the letter. If the bootloader says SPL - !.09 desi then you can insert the sd card and reset into bootloader.
Cheers...
thanks
Thanks I got it. I guess I'll have to do everything using the SD method.

ok, I've the solution, strange, but thrue.
I buyed yesterday a beautyfull, new minisd "4Gb", mounted it, and I discovered that if I run mtty with the 4Gb minisd into device, all blocks are bad
the rom wasn't updated into device if I flash one...
without minisd mtty give me all blocks ok, and flashing other rom, it will be uploaded into device...
ok, this is my cas, good also if someone have same problem, but my question now is, why with last 2Gb minisd this problem didn't present???
I flashed hundreds of rom with minisd iside and all ok...
my my new good, beautifull minisd 4Gb I spent a lot of time today to understand why all block were bad, this is the answer...
bye!
but the question still rests... why whit 2Gb sd all is ok, and with the 4Gb one not?!?!?!?
could this be part of the problem with ppl not being able to flash new radios to their device?
*sorry double post*
4Gb SD card MUST be a SDHC card, and these run on FAT32.... i think that might cause all problems...

It didn't surprise me. To read files from the SD card, you need a hardware "driver" to communicate to the hardware and to understand the layout of the card, both physically - the SD/SDHC format; and logically, the file system on the card.
Remember, there is a distinction between the OS and the firmware - what an OS can do DOESN'T necessary mean that what a firmware can do, vice versa. Think it as the BIOS of your computer against your installed OS.
In this case, your WM6 can read SDHC because there's a SDHC driver in the OS. When you are doing an flash, all the vital functions that are needed are provided by SPL. If the SPL don't have the necessary "driver" - to read the SDHC, it will naturally bails out of the operations.
It's by design and is more or less expected. Period. Unless HTC is going to "update" their SPL to support SDHC as well, but who knows.

ok, good answer!!
I know now...
I suffered the problem of bad blocks you mention with a defective 4GB mini SD (TopRam) and reported it in Pof's thread (unlock) two months ago. I was about throwing one SPV M700 out of the window. Hopefully, I removed the card at the last minute. The result was the same as you describe: no way to flash a new ROM. Partial flash seemed to work but then I realized the previous version was still there. Wen trying to flash the OS section in the rom, the Trini faded off.
I have had recently had another problem trying to update Radio Rom with no success (no mini SD and no SIM this time). I had Olipro's Spl v1.3. I installed Olipr's Spl v1.2 back (with SSPL) and could upgrade the Radio Rom.

I can confirm this.
My touchpad did not response correct so i decide to go back to the offical HTC ROM. The flashprocess finished at 100% with no error. After a reboot i can see that he radio was not updated.
After i go back to Hard-Spl 1.20 the radio rom i can flash the radio and the trinity accept it.
so i formatted my sd card.. and renamed the ROM file and everything just like in the instructions in the wiki.. but i cannot do it! :-((( how do you guys install the ROM from the sd card? i used the latest sim supercid unlock before this....

I did this for the first time yesterday and all went well following the WIKI instructions http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing (and todd_jg's link looks the same but easier to read).
I did make one mistake - first time I tried I named the file HERMING.nbh instead of HERMIMG.nbh - ing is a more natural word ending and is probably what you'll see if you are speed reading.
Other than something silly like that, or a corrupt SD card you shouldn't have any problem.

word! glad it workd!
Ok before everyone asks, yes I have searched the forums about this.
While attempting to flash Pays ROM this morning, it got to 3% then threw the error "ERROR [302] : UPDATE ERROR". I have tried a soft reset and a hard reset but I can only get the phone to the WM6 screen or into the bootloader.
I have tried a few different ROMs from 2 different PC's with the same result. I have tried the HERMIMG.nbh on the SD card method but when it goes into the bootloader screen I see it flash loading for a split second then go back to the bootloader and stays there. The .nbh is from Pay's full ROM.
I am running SPL-2.10.Olipro
Any ideas? I have tried everything I could!!
Try the Official HTC ROM
Have you tried using an official ROM?. they are the most 'complete' ROM's and have all the error free software.
Woohoo it's back
Ok it is up and running again (thanks to the phone gods)
Seems it would work on the SD flash method with a 2GB sd card but worked straight away with my 1GB card.
All good now.
Lessons learnt .. keep cat away from computer while flashing ROMs!!

For what it's worth, I had this issue as well that was resolved by checking the SD card... it was formatted as FAT, not FAT32.
After the reformat, the image was seen on the card and the phone was flashed successfully.
EDIT: This was on a 1 gig SD card. The flash card formatting software I grabbed from panasonic formatted the card FAT, not FAT32
Hi there,I have an xda orbit and would like to install Artemis Touch 4.01. I have recently updated from wm5 to wm6. I have a 2gb micro sd card and I'm getting a little confused about the first step in the installation process "1. Copy SDConfig.txt to root of storage card (omit this step if you have a SDHC card)" Is this a path on my phone? And if so how and where do i locate it in my directory to copy it to my micro sd card? Also do I then remove the micro sd card as suggested in the second step (as I dont believe my sd card is of the sdhc type)? And finally I havent previously cid unlocked my device, does step one for process three unlock my device such as the process here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403? Sorry for my newbie questions but any help would be much appreciated and hopefully make it clear for any others that may be confused!
Many Thanks!

As I understand it, SDConfig.txt is used for user customisation i.e. if you want some programs installed at the end of the flashing process (If I'm mistaken then I'm sure someone will correct me). I've flashed my device without this and all is well.
Step 1 does indeed do the CID unlocking. Once you device reboot after this process watch the screen to ensure SPL is 1.11.... If that is the case go to step 2.
Also, remember to back up everything you need to keep with PPCPimBackup or something because you will lose everything from main memory.
Finally, you don't need to remove the 2Gig card,

Hello, i have searched on this forum and haven't found a way to solve my problem:
I flashed HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V5_WWE_12.11.2008
on my hermes, and then performed a sprite Backup Recovery with system settings.
Then my Hermes booted until the HTC animation came with the sound, but then it stayed that way.
I tried to connect it via USB, but it wouldn't recognize it when i tried to reflash it, soon i tried to flash it via SD-card (putting a ROM *.nbh file on the formatted card, then naming it HERMIMG.nbh) still nothing. The phone is recognized by the computer an the bootloader shows connection via USB, but nothing works
HERM200
IPL-1.00
HERM 200
SPL-1.04
What should i do? Thanks for your help!
you can try a hard reset. steps on this page
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Doing+a+hard+reset?t=anon
thanks for your response, i will try that!
yea it's probably not flashing via SD card because your sd card is larger than 1gb.

Up to 2GB is fine, it's just that the card can't be SDHC because the bootloader won't recognise it. I suspect the reason it can't flash is because you hadn't SuperCID the device or you don't have HardSPL (evident from your SPL)!
You really should have read enough to know that HardSPL should be a prerequisite before flashing any ROM.
Check the WIKI for details (links in my sig)
