Flashing in windows7 - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

i've been looking around already for a solution but i cant seem to find anything.
i normally flash my rom on a win-xp PC and everything goes well that way
now i want to flash a new rom on my win7 installation but when the phone goes into bootloader to start the update process , windows 7 " refinds" the drivers and it takes to much time for the RUU to restart the update process.
does anyone know a solution for this problem? i cant flash in win 7 now
[edit] the connection itself is working fine, i can sync with mobile center etc. the only problem occurs when the phone reboots to start the update process and then my PC finds the driver again etc..

I am somehow able to flash from windows 7, only some old ROMs like artemis touch, and win 6.5 ROM of Dhee.

hm i found the solution, ive checked an extra tab in mobile center which said: data connection possible when connected to pc..
seems that did the trick

Vista Help

Have done several upgrades with vista in the past. Had to format the hard drive and re-install vista. Old drivers that I dowloaded (wceusbsh.inf) will not work. Get a message problem with driver. Have tried re-downloading the driver and same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Now have gotten the drivers to load o.k. but still no luck in a connect to the device
After spending a couple of hours screwing with everything I could think to try, I have got the Hermes to update again.
# 1 After following Mr Vanx's directions for the Vista upgrade prosses
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27
# 2 DO NOT place the unit into bootloder mode, start the Windows Mobile device center (WMDC), plug the usb connection into the unit and wait for the WMDC to show connected, NOW you can run any of the RUU update files.
As Always Mr. Vanx is the man!
Bootloader Mode - Will it Erase Data
I have been having similar problems since I got a new computer that runs VISTA. I have tried everything, and the Device Manager, Portable devices has never given an indication my Mogul 6800 is present. I read the guide that captainrick747 referrs. I am concerned that going into Bootloader mode my system will lose all data and get reset to the original configuration. Should I be worried?

WMDC on Windows 7 RC1

WMDC was working fine for me until I upgraded to RC1 of Windows 7. It did tell me as I upgraded that WMDC wasn't compatible. The only thing I have installed which isn't in fact. Windows own mobile device centre is the only thing not compatible that I had!?!?!?
Anyway, I guess I'll try a reinstall, but does anyone know how I can get it WMDC working again?
(I'm using Dutty's 3.3 and W7 RC1 64bit)
Hi. Now I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate RC Evaulation copy. Build 7100 and everything is working fine. Even rom upgrades working with no poroblem.
hey guys - I'm using RC1 too but the 64-bit - never tried to use it to flash my device though (dual boot with XP)
its the last piece of the puzzle I need in order to migrate completely to W7 and wave goodbye to WinXP.
can you both confirm which versions you are using please? and if 64-bit did you have to install the vista 64-bit driver found on these forums or did it work 'straight out of the box'?
thanks
I have 32-bit version of Windows 7 RC. I just connect mine HTC TOUCH HD to PC and Windows install the drivers and Windows Mobile Device Center install automaticly. Now everything is working. cheers
As I said, I have 64 bit and WMDC wont even start for me
I have Win 7 RC1 64bits, and Duttys HD V2,4
You need to uncheck Enable faster data sync in Settings/Connections/USB to PC..
That dit the trick for me...
Hi! I have 2 notebooks, one with win7 rc1-32bits, the other with win7 rc1-64 bits. I connect my Touch HD on both, succesfully.
Htc Touch HD Aka Blackstone
Windows 7 RC (Build7100)
Everything works GREAT!!!
Flashing, synchronizing!
Must be your config
Windows 7 RC x64 here, can flash without problems, after downgrading HTC-USB drivers to active sync drivers
Windows 7 here X6. Everything works perfect
I'm using Windows 7 RC1 64BIT without any problem.
Have you upgraded from Windows 7 Beta to the RC?
Than you must uninstal WMDC before. After the upgradeprocess reinstall WMCD again.

This fixed it for me. Thanks
You shouldn't need to disable faster data connections. The reason that this method works is that it detects a new device and installs new drivers.
There are a few things to do, I am not sure which in particular does it, but I'vbe upgraded Windows 7 many times and some combination has always worked.
Reinstall WMDC 7.1
Manage partnerships and delete them all.
When you plug in your phone go to device manager, find your phone (if faster data connections is shown, it will be listed as a portable device and a Lan connection)
click "uninstall" on these items, and delete drivers if this option is available.
unplug phone. Wait
Plug it back in.
Let it install drivers
If this still doesn't work. Click on the devices (network connection and portable device) selelct "upgrade drivers" on each, searching the internet.

To be honest, now it works I'm not going to mess with it unless I have to. Will it be a slower transfer to the HD?
Hi all,
I had similar trouble with Windows 7 RC, however I followed the instructions posted at: http://capitalhead.com/articles/ena...synchronization-on-windows-7-x64-and-x86.aspx and that did the trick.
If I'm not mistaken, Windows 7 is supposed to download WMDC automatically, however it never did that for me. Hope it helps someone else.

w7-64bit RC1 here....
WMDC works fine (stock install) - use it both at home and at work, and i flash by renaming and copying rom image to SDcard\blacimg.nhb
Unistall
Try to uninstall WMDC and download and install another one from the internet! It work for me and i had the same problem...
W7 and Blackstone here. Flashing Syncing ... works great.
I know this thread is old but I am having this problem and none of the suggestions I have found out on the internet have solved it. I am basically having the same issue as most people in this thread have had but the REAL problem is that Windows Mobile Device Center will NOT install no matter what I try. I run the setup for it and it looks fine until it gets to 1 second left on the progress bar. Then it sits...and sits...and sits...until finally the bar rolls backward and the installation quits. No error messages, no nothing and no WMDC. I am running Win7RC x64. I will never get syncing working if I can't get WMDC actually installed in the first place. I did look in the event log and it seems there is an error related to VSS every time I attempt an install on this app. Anyone have any ideas?

usb to pc missing in htc snap rom

hi friends
i am not abe to find out where is the usb to pc icon on my newly installed htc snap rom
my active sync is not working
as i wanted to uprade to rc2 of the same rom
please help
can we flash without active sync?
Same here
I had the same problem with vista's mobile device center. It would not recognize my phone. Luckily I had an old windows XP desktop that would recognize my phone.
I don't think there is currently a solution to get the current build of the energyrom to work with mobile device center in vista. Which is too bad cause I would rather not use XP everytime
thanks for the reply
but i have windows xp pro
and still the active sync is not working and i want to flash the rom
how can i flash it as i have to unlock through sda unlock application which runs only through activesync
Maybe you guys should continue this discussion where it belongs... I might see it there... LOL

[Q] Desire - device failed enumeration fastboot/hboot mode

OK everybody I think I already know what is going to come from this but I'm putting it out there anyway to see if anybody else in this world has experienced anything like this and managed to resolve it. I'm assuming it's the boot-loader that is at fault here but maybe, hopefully I am wrong.
So a friend of mine has rooted and installed Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable on his HTC Desire (bravo - gsm) using the revolutionary method. It has been working fine except he had many issues getting any ADB drivers to install and work. I've resolved this issue using Koush's drivers. Good old Koush. File transfers work fine too so the USB itself is obviously fine.
The problem I am facing is that he couldn't and now I cannot for the life of me get HBOOT/Fastboot drivers to install. I've tried using Windows and Linux for this task. I'm assuming that all was well before considering the fact he rooted his device!
Now, please don't shout at me but maybe there is a fancy HTC mode like the Samsung download mode that can be used? It's been a while since using HTC and couldn't recall if there was or even if it would be on these early devices.
So....
In Linux I've done all of the 51android.rules stuff and it works with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus One. I can also see the device in 'sudo lsusb'.
In Windows.... well.... it's Windows, what more can I say!
The device shows up in device manager as Unknown USB Device (Device failed Enumeration). Now I know that basically means that my device is technically buggered, over current, generally failed to connect etc. I've tried different cables, ports and computers!
So here is the boot-loader information:
Revolutionary (In the pink bar at the top)
S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Whether in Fastboot or HBOOT, when I plug the device in it flashes between Fastboot and Fastboot USB/HBOOT and HBOOT USB PLUG
after a few seconds it goes back to the USB unplugged state on the phone and Windows pops up USB devices not recognized and I get the device show up in device manager as mentioned above.
If I try to install any HTC or custom/universal Fastboot drivers thy all fail as does HTC sync.
I've tried suggestions in this post too - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124360
I think that is everything I can provide. Let me know if you need anything else! Like I say, I think it's the boot-loader itself but would loved to be proved wrong!
Thanks in advanced everyone!

Does connecting your phone as a storage device work?
Yes both storage mode and ADB work fine. ADB was a pain to get working though. Only the universal drivers from Koush worked on windows.

Is there a fix for the MCP connection fail thing?

Hi,
I'm having some issues where the MTP driver fails to load. Tried all the obvious stuff and did a lot of reading of forums and stuff but can't find a fix. Could anyone help me to fix it please?
Here's what hardware I have and what I've tried so far:
Tab Pro 8.4 16gb wifi UK model, rooted.
Connected via cable to Dell XPS 17, latest USB drivers installed, win 7 x64.
First of all, I enabled USB debugging and windows installed drivers for all except MTP.
Tried installing the Samsung driver package, same problem. Uninstalled at present.
Installed kies, didn't work, wouldn't even connect to the device. Uninstalled.
Followed the instructions on the wiki but the suite software installs the driver succesfully but then windows won't accept the driver. Tried the workarounds in the wiki but still no luck.
Tried rebooting the tablet and leaving the cable connected.
Tried wiping the cache.
Tried restarting both the tablet and laptop after reinstalling software and drivers, still no luck.
Found several workarounds on my travels, one was a command line for windows to add to usergroup ( it's on the laptop downstairs, will add it to the post tomorrow).
One post said to change a registry entry...really? Tried that, and another registry trick, but still no.
Using the same laptop, I had similar problems trying to flash a custom rom onto an s4, but the CM installer worked first time. I've done a fresh install of win 7 since then.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? Is there any kind of workaround? Running out of ideas!
Thanks
Fixed this, well, kind of. Here's a quick rundown of what I did, for people like me who are struggling with connection problems.
I thought I had tried everything, was going to dump the whole thing and then remembered that I'd fixed some previous USB problems (sound card) by doing a clean boot.
First, remove Kies.
The only other thing that is required are the samsung mobile drivers from their website. I tried with and without and this would only work with them installed.
Restart your tablet, make sure MTP is selected.
You can find out how to do a clean boot for you version of windows here.
Leave your device connected via USB cable. Once you have clean booted into windows, windows will attempt to install the drivers from windows update, let it do this. It can take a minute or two to complete. You should then see a green tick in the notification area rather than the dreaded red cross.
If, for some reason, the driver doesn't install first time, you can unplug and then plug back in the USB cable and this should do the trick.
What I did find, is that the connection wasn't consistent, I could restart either my laptop or tablet and then it wouldn't connect, so I'd have to go through the above process again to get it to connect.
Doing this allowed me to flash the Clockworkmod recovery with odin 3.09, but for whatever reason, I was still unable to use the recommended Eimdall suite to flash cyanogenmod.
In the end, I downloaded the CM11 zip file to my tablet (via http) and then used ES file manager to move it to the SDCard root and then clockworkmod picked it up from there.
Also, once CM was installed, there were no connection problems at all, as far as I can see.
Hopefully this will help others in the same predicament.
