Contact sending thru SMS

I am using latest Vodafone ROm which is more stable.
I want to use facility of sending contact thru SMS which is not available in it.
Can anybody help me to
* activate it (if thru registory edit)
* cab installation (please provide cab)

Rizwan: are you asking if this is possible, or do you know it's possible and are seeking the cabs etc?
AFAIK it's not a feature on the current roms, only through MMS.
Someone has posted elsewhere that this might be a feature in an upcoming update.
Please ensure that you search the forum before posting a question btw.

Yeah with new AKU 3.2 version ROM u can send ur contacts via sms or ir .
There r many beta versions of ROM on this forum u can simply search for the thread & try by urself .

niketkumar: as I said, I understand it will be a feature in an upcoming (ie official) update, but AFAIK it's not a standard feature in any current official rom.
Can Windows Mobiles receive vcards? From testing, I don't think they can... That would be a good app to write.

Don't waste your time writting an app...
It is supported both sending and receiving in the new AKU 3.2 release (tested it already). I have made AKU 3.2 ROMs for the HTC Universal and so did IVAN. If you really want this feature then you should use the new AKU.

Yes, I have tried Ivan's and yours also but always found it to be not responding on calls (people call and listen rining but I dont have any rining call).
That's why I shifted to a branded rom otherwise yours is much stable than Ivans (no doubt) as I tested around 9 out of 14 Ivans and both of yours

No offence bro but v were here to discuss abt the contacts sending thru sms feature on our OS not this so from next time b careful to post in the desired thread .

niketkumar: Jwrightmcps posted the info about this being supported in the new cooked roms. Someone (eg me!) who was about to jump in and use that rom, might have been happy to learn about the possible bugs posted by rikram. So although not quite 100% on topic, it's not 100% off topic either IMHO....

I know my post sounded serious, and I didn't want it to, but I really did mean it. The Mods try to keep the forum tidy, but I thought that the post was actually helpful re the issues in the cooked roms. But thanks for keeping an eye out either way, we like the place neat and tidy!

Manila 2.1?

Excuse me, but I can't help wondering, what's the difference between manila 2.0 and manila 2.1. I'm using Dutty's 3.3 and it says 2.0. But I thought that Dutty was using the latest one, so I'm wondering what's 2.1.

afaik there are more slots in the start tab for more program shortcuts.

does nobody know?! It cant be just that HTC decided to take V2.0 and put in an SMS bug just for us!

i work with the 2.1 manila,work fine just sms issue like sayd before,bud the tmobile theme is very nice,graphics are beautifull...
just look HERE to see manila 2.1 theme t mobile original,wallpaper is mine and tabs are changed bud top curtain ,clock,5day wheater,mail icons etc are standard tmobile theme(unchanged),much nicer then before a think.

the only difference that has been noticed so far is more icons in the programs tab. (30)
the SMS bug is a problem that many (but not all) people are having where the manila texting interface will allow the person to send a text message but not reply after a new message has been recieved.
A number of causes have been identified -
+ at the beginning of the number
GSM preferred setting
and which mobile network you use.
the actual cause has not yet been identified and nobody has yet been able to fix it.

Are threre any differences in functionality, new features something like that betwet 2.0 and 2.1 versions of Manila?

Honestly befor few days i flash my device with latest ENERGY room WM 6.5 the room is with manila 2.1 and i don`t know why all peoples claim that have problem with the SMS
but i can tell you that I DON`T HAVE ANY PROBLEM with the MANILA.. SMS or anything else also the room work like a charm and is very fast
I use this latest room from around one week AND I DONT HAVE WORD`s is faster than many other room`s ive been tried and WM 6.1 also
Maybe position right now is that the latest ENERGY room 6.5 is the best avalible coocked room till now!

The battery is good enoght i dont see my battery to dry faster..

congratulation! you have a fully working manila 2.1. consider yourself lucky. now go buy yourself a beer.
i, on the other hand (along with quite a number of people), aren't so lucky. manila 2.1 refuse to work properly when we put it in our device. mind you, the sms bug is very real.
and please don't suggest hard reset, soft reset, reflash and so forth. i've did it all and still got bitten by the sms bug. all ROMs that runs on manila 2.1 that i've tried gets me the sms bug. and i've tried more than i could count.
so i just avoid ROMs that has manila 2.1. works wonders so far for me

This is very strange not only with the new manila im talking for the whole apps tweaks and etc.. on the same time ALL peoples here have the same Device but the real answer maybe is NO they are not the same..
Many peoples have problems with some app that other peoples run without a problem!
This is strange and i think we don`t know and explore everything in the WM room`s YET
Like i say yes maybe im Lucky because i don`t have any BUGs on my device..
But we must to think why this heppaning Always when something heppand have a REASON nothing heppand without a reason!
This mean we have alot to learn for WM in the future

Appointment: Where are my categories?! (new official rom HTC Sense 2.5)

Hello,
I noticed that when I create a new appointment with the HTC Sense UI I do not see my categories, but I see default one instead (None, Business, Holiday, ...). However I do see the correct categorie if I display the detail of an appointement I created with Outlook.
Am I the only one experiencing this behaviour? As you can guess this is really annoying for anyone using categories with appointments.

Same here; that's more than an annoyance.

Any way to replace the new appointment link in the sense UI to the win mo one?
This lack of categories really get on my nerves.
I just can't understand why it is not working; this is a professionnal device for *** sake!

Maybe this "official" ROM isn't so official (or final) as we're led to believe.

Actually it might as well be the official one, because I did download mine from the T-Mobile website and I have a hell of alot problems..... Idk about categories, but once I get in my messages if I wanna go back the phone freezes, sometimes the phone just freezes out of nowhere and the only way to fix it is soft reset. I hate the new software, now im looking to go back to 6.1 or a cooked one. Also my phone is really slow, it takes it about 10 mins after a restart to show me the little quick menu (top to the right)... so idk what the hell is wrong with them but i dont like it....

Is that the one with Sense 2.5 (with the three quick-links on the home page), or the "normal" WM6.5, without the quick-links?

Sense 2.5 messaging to Sense 2.1?

Is there a way to go back to Sense 2.1 SMS messaging. Sense 2.5 new HTC SMS is ok..but i prefer 2.1's look. it's quicker and easier to manage texts.
I know there's a way to disable the new 2.5 SMS but i don't like Pocket Outlook's simplicity look.

thanks for the quick reply. seems someone got it working on their TP2. but now everyone's getting a stuck in outbox bug after a day of use. too buggy for now..hopefully soon it'll be fixed. tolerate 2.5 for now :\

i havent experienced this lag everyone complains about. but i do have one annoyance. when im typing a text itll randomly select a text message a few messages above. its not enough to dump the much better htc mms client over the old crappy arcsoft one. and finally a character counter again. theres little things all over manila i feel arent exactly complete though. maybe in the next update...

I have experienced this too. flippin annoying.

[Q] Greek SMS with 70 characters limit

Hello everyone!
I have the usual problem with the system limiting my SMSs to 70 characters when using the Greek alphabet.... Someone suggested on the Smart Keyboard forum (http://www.dexilog.com/smartkeyboard/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=970&p=4484#p4484) that HTC has solved this. But for me, the problem persists in a weird way:
-Of course I type in all caps
-If I use any letters that are specific to the Greek alphabet (Ψ,Ω,Δ,Λ,Σ etc) the limit stays at 160 characters
-If I type a letter that is common to the latin alphabet it drops to 70 characters!
It's strange, but I haven't seen much talk about this issue here, though it was a big topic in WinMo discussions (WM has the same problem).
So:
-Can someone verify whether or not HTC has fixed this?
-Does anyone have a suggestion?
Using RevolutionHD 2.09 with 1.72.405.3 .

Unfortunately my friend you have to use the ACE HELLAS solution for this, which is a "top secret" info, they will never help you out with this.
Had the same problem with my previous phone (HTC Legend), and ended up using SlideIT with Greek add-on, which I remember that worked for SMS (ofcourse always caps). Give it a try and let me know.
In case you really need Greek, and you are willing to come back to ACE HELLAS stock, I can Nandroid mine when it comes back from service and upload the ROM for you.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply... I can't believe we're in the same s#!+ with Ace Hellas once more - it was the exact same situation some 4 years ago when I got my TytnII! Of course this is not the sign of a serious company (speaking both for HTC and ACE) since the fix should have found its way upwards and be included in the stock HTC ROMs.... but I digress.
I'm running a custom ROM, so I wouldn't want to go back to a stock one, but I guess that this could be rectified by just grabbing the relevant apk(s)?
Also,thanks for the SlideIt kb. I had tried it, but didn't remember it fixes the problem - will try again.

I will let you know regarding APKs after I root my DHD, as soon as I receive it back from service (the blur picture left part camera issue).
Until then, you can also "dig" information and try the new Swype beta for DHD as well, but I dont think it supports Greek at the moment (not sure). If I find anything I will send you a link.
Yes, the problem is really frustrating, but at least the WM problem was a single HTC_ime.cab file, which worked in almost all devices. In Android it is a real pain in the arse!!! That is why I still stick with the stock ROM.
After 3 years of upgrading Android OSs, this problem should have been fixed generically, from the box.

Swype doesn't have Greek - at least didn't have the last time I tried it, so it's a no-go, but SlideIt is good enough I think - it's just that it's totally different and i happen to like the HTC Kyboard
Was it an IME cab for WM? I seem to remember it was a keyboard cab. And it seems to be the same here - there are messaging apps (call me Handcent) that solve it with the stock keyboard, but there are also third-party kb's that solve it with the stok messaging app! So it seems it can be fixed two-ways... If I could help in any way with digging into the ROM please do let me know!

Ahhh yes I remembered the problem with Swype: it FCs whenever you switch languages... so kinda useless
[edit] and, also, it doesn't solve the 70-char issue, it's exactly the same. Gonna try SLideIt.

My dear friend can you send me the HTC_ime.cab file or tell me where can I find it? I have the exact same problem with my wm6.5 phone! I don't want to use the solution with the remapped keyboards!

Number of Characters has to do with Unicode or GSM Alphabet?
