using joshs perfect black 1.7 full... maybe this belongs in his rom thread but I am not sure if it is a general question. thanks in advance, just want to move folders and files I use the most to the top and put files in their correct folders and such.
Using a file explorer, navigate to "\windows\start menu\". Here, you can arrange the shortcuts into whichever folder you want.
To rearrange the order, it's more problematic. Open the Start Menu. If you tap and hold on an item, you'll get the option to "Move to top". So, if you systematically select icons to "move to top" you'll be able to get a layout that you want.

thanks! took a while but I got everything arranged how I want it!
I hope they come out with an "Arrange Icons" menu so you can just drag the items freely to organize them faster. It takes so long to arrange them in the desired order with the current way, but it's a start.

how do you go about changing where items are on the menu? i.e first item being games, second internet, third being windows media etc
I don't think you can change their position on the menu (I'm assuming you mean the start menu, if not please clarify).
It seems that it puts them in alphabetical order, folders first, then program links.
if you go into the /windows/start menu folder, that is where the program links are for the menu list. I have changed links in that folder, and the change shows up in the menu, but still in the alphabetical order.
Unless you would rename them and maybe number them or something.
Dear XDA Forum visitors,
i got the TP2 yesterday. Now i have an important program on my memory sd card. I want to create a fast way in the menu "start" to go to the program.
Instead of going to the "verkenner" (discoverer?!?) and then go to the right place on the sd-card. I hope there is a faster way to go to the program, but i dont know how.
plz help!
Go to the verkenner , look up your program then tip and hold the file until the context menu appears. Select Copy. Then goto \Windows\StartMenu (the folder will probably labeled different in your locale), tip and hold on an empty space and select "Insert Shortcut" (will again be labeled differently for your locale). This will place a shortcut to your application into the start menu. Then you can select it with Start -> All and you can of course assign it to one of the shortcut buttons.
you can also make a lnk file but that wont be as fast unless you already know how to make one

tried this to create a short cut for my storage card and get an error message
either not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cant be found
how can i get around this
thanks for any help
I have the same problem
I have tested it on two differnet devices.
Even if I create a shortcut to a blank folder I get a certificate error.
Any help would be appreciated.
Shaya
It can be that the program is uncertified or has a bad certificate. In stock rom's those apps don't work. In the coocked one's they mostly do.

Let us know if this solved the problem
I have not tried your fix as I have not yet done a backup.
I do not think this will solve the problem as when i switch to the original WM start menu the shortcut works. So it is something to do with touchFlo.
Just to explain you can recreate the problem yourself.
1. Create a blank folder on your SD card.
2. Copy and paste a shortcut to this folder in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
If you try and run this from the touchFlo programs screen you get a certificate error, if you switch to WM start menu it works fine.
to switch to WM start menu edit the registry as seen in Cabs,Tips,Tweaks etc
HKLM\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu
EnableManilaStartMenu =
1(orginal TF3D startmenu) / 0(old WM startmenu)
So I Love the new start menu in Manilla... What I don't like though is it's "All Programs" option. I've attempted to make it as much like the old one by installing the 4 column mod, but It's still missing Folder support, which I use alot in my Programs folder.
Is there a way to bring back the "Programs" option from the old start menu but still keep the finger friendly start menu from manila??
You can use a file explorer to go to the Start menu sub Folder in the windows folder and rearange the short cut links in to programs folder. The today and settings link are the only ones that can not be moved. I moved mine to have my usual 7 links and the rest in the programs folder like the old start menu.
I have a folder that contains special office files. I'd like to have a quicklink to this folder on my manila 2.5 quicklinks homescreen, is this possible?
This would be good to know. +1

using file explorer or total commander.. something like that make a shortcut of the folder you are talking about. long press the folder and the options should come up to "copy" or while the folder is highlighted select menu and copy.
Using file explorer again then navigate to \my device\windows\start menu
click menu and choose to past shortcut and then you're probably going to want to rename it.
then on your quicklinks you should be able to add it.

I'm trying to do the same thing, but with the link for the traditional "all settings" screen (that I added with BsB). I understand how to add the shortcut to windows\start menu, but I don't know where to find the .lnk that launches it so I can create the shortcut....any ideas..?

It's cool, thanks Aaron I just happened to find the answer anyway, so here's the post with the instructions, for anybody else that's interested.

Hello. Coming from Touchwiz I like the ZenUI quite enough, but...
Is there a way to create folders (with a custom name) in the app drawer and put inside them the apps I do will, not based upon the approximate built-in categorization, which put almost all of them together ?
Stuff like AppZorter for TW would be sci-fi on this kind of UI, isn't it ?
Thanks for any trick
Easy, in the apps menu up on the right site, touch the edit option.

And how could I create custom folders, this way ?
I see the "smart folder" (automatic) option only, which isn't too smart, as I said above
Thanks
You have to choose edit and creat manually over posted.

Sorry but I can't get your point.
If I choose "Edit" in the top-right menu, the drawer automatically switches to "custom mode", with those self-distributed smart folders.
How could I create new custom folders or move apps between them ?
I can only rename the existing ones, but they stay as before and all the apps come back to them soon
Thank you
Ok, I'm answering myself if someone else could be interested in the OP question solution:
to create a custom folder, both on the home or drawer (edit mode) layers, you should drag an app icon above another: a folder containing both of them would be created.
Then you can edit/change the folder name tapping over it
Done.
Thanks for putting on right way
