Hello everyone;
Recently I have been working with Vanilla Android and have grown to adore it through AOSP releases. However, AOSP releases didn't have the speed nor the stability to meet my expectations- so I started working with a 2.73.405.66 ROM and removed the HTC bloatware. The result has been a VERY fast, stable ROM.
What Works:
-Everything in the MoDaCo custom rom. After installation, everything is (even more with 3.0) shockingly stable.
-Unlike AOSP roms, all the hardware works properly and you get to experience vanilla Android.
What DOESN'T Work:
Bluetooth (on 3.0)
Inconsistencies:
None!
Parts of sense that haven't been removed:
As of release 3.0, all sense has been removed!
This is a very stable ROM. It runs lightning fast, and saves a lot of memory.

Can't connect to 3G on 2.1?
For some strange reason, in Android 1.5's settings provider, mobile network is disabled by default. To enable it, hold the power button and select "Enable Mobile Network". GPS is disabled by default too, this can be toggled in settings.

Oops! I copied a lot of the apk files from an Android emulator installation, and the calendar isn't present on that ROM. I'll be sure to add it next release!

The HTC sync is supposed to be missing, as part of my quest to make a HTC-free rom. However, if I have a chance, I will make an update.zip to add Sync to the rom.

In settings, disable syncing date from the network. That solved the FC problem for me, haven't had a acore crash since then.

And that's why the calendar isn't in the ROM.
The white toolbar will be added soon, however my top priority is the acore bugs.

Hello, RaiderX303.
ROM is very good, but i have one issue:
after apply a rom and reboot i have a FC in start-up wizard about google configuration process. Because of that i can't setup google account. Maybe i miss something in ROM update procedure.
What i have done:
1. Nandroid backup.
2. Wipe.
3. Flash ROM
4. Reboot.
5. Wait for load
6. Second reboot.
PS - without google sync acc - no market, no gmail, no gtalk
are you using a2sd when having those problems?
Installed this ROM and everything works good, but it seems app2sd is not working automaticly ? I have not the /system/sd folder

maps to be d/l from market and voice navigation looks to be working- didn't get a chance to go anywhere
Great initial release, looks ready for day-day use
No exchange support or Flickr as per original 1.5 Rom.
Have these been stripped, or just not in the new 2.1?

Have the same issue like you, although i have 145Mb free in storage on phone.
I did restart phone but i keep getting the same message.
I've not tried this ROM, but this was an issue with the Eris-leak ROMs, and I suspect the cause and solution is the same - see here.
There's an update.zip on the VillianROM Wiki that will do this for you if you don't want to try to the commands yourself.

He will have removed all of HTC's flash from the phone so yes web based flash content won't load.
Also see the post above yours someone has told you how to fix the market issue

I solved the problem by setting the correct directory permission
I think the above patch works the same way
Yesteday, I also ported it for Magic and yes, it's laggy, all apps and framework are much heavy than Eris, so all become slower.
I want to try to port FriendStream and RSS News over Eris

Is the auto-brightness feature working? Or rather all power management for that matter, cause this is the major issue on all custom 2.1 ROMs up to now.

You can't call him a liar, He said hardware is working - so GPS is switching on - the software for locking onto a satellite probably isn't working - but I'm sure there was a fix for this posted in the Villain Rom Wiki that should do the same for this rom.

anyone noticed that the facebook contacts only go to 100 is there some sort of fix for that..? other than that running great... going on 6hrs since flash...
there isnt any current fix for the facebook contacts, i believe HTC dont think people can have more than 100 friends
Mine has synced more than 100 as far as I am aware, although I have not counted them.
Beta 2 is up, includes faster but buggy rosie, market fix and cleaned up the system a bit.

Any chance of some screenshots of these glitches so we can see for ourselves without actually having to flash it?
screenshots of rosie glitches added to OP, there the only issues really present apart from the pinch to zoom tutorial issue where it shows the save scene screen instead of the tutorial, that bug only applies to first time use.

Did you try replacing libwebcore.so from an earlier build or from the sprint leaks?
I tried multiple files libwebcore.so from various hero rom 2.1 but without success
This one looks awsome. I'll never try this, as this ROM is for developers only, but I like the idea to port a great ROM from one device to an other. I would like to follow this development and see how its going to unfold.

im trying this out now and its running great so far! i like all the features, apps and stuff, ive found a way to install my apps without the market. I'm gonna test it for a day i think, if i find it stable enough
EDIT: I had trouble restoring my apps with mybackup pro, they just didnt come up, and certain things in the rom are fast, like when it was restoring the backups, but other things such as the UI are slow, i guess it just needs some optimisation.
Im seeing it has themes ? what are they like ? and what else is new in this rom like UI features etc !

looks and Feels great. I am not dev so cant be of much help. I found one thing though - When using Titanium Backup - says it doesnt have root access. Could it be some permission causing the problems ?
I've used parts of the Espresso leak for the new aosp ROM of mine.
You'll have to be careful while porting the opengl bits though; not all libs are compatible. Had to merge some of them with the old Espresso bits I had and the newest Sprint leak.

That's right, it would need SuperUser.apk and a couple of other files to work.
Been running this all night and its solid, cant get the browser (or any browser) to work and cant read emails though I get notifications of them and can see the previews. Love the new contacts and friendstream widgets.

Here it is, at long last. To all those that have stuck by me (and the rest of the VillainROM team) since I began
developing for the Hero in January, thank you. I hope this ROM is the ROM you’ve been waiting for.
Yesterday morning, an OFFICIAL GSM HERO 2.1 Patch, complete with Radio arrived in my dropbox with a simple message – ‘OKAY TO RELEASE’. Within 10 minutes, Pulser and I had stripped it down and began rebuilding it. We’re pleased to say folks, it’s a great ROM; and it’s fast.
A quick word from kendon: i will try to set up a kitchen on saturday. i know it's urgent
A full wipe (data & dalvik-cache & sd-ext) is higly recommended to avoid problems of any kind!

I get around 2.53 mflops in 2.14 secs.
The same problem as in Cronos, locales does not work.
Are Live Wallpapers working yet? When I tried the ROM this morning they weren't?

Linpack score average of 2.5 MFlops and 2.17seconds at 691 Mhz and autokiller at optimum!
Can anyone explain to me why we need that new htc update?
If it has no friendstream, the functionality, stability and speed from Cronos 1.5 is the same as this one ?!?

this is an awesome ROm...OC to 691mhz linpack score 2.9-3.0 in 1.8s ...
Well it doesn't seen so fast. I am running VillainROM 6.2 clocked to 748MHz and it is doing 3.3MFlops in 1.64 Seconds and is very very fast. I will wait till more complete rom is released.
Base: The ROM is actually build off a build by Kirin at diypda.com.which was later transalated and built by ajrty33 in the HTC Hero CDMA forums.
Had help from: The build from the Hero, G2 Touch. Special thanks to bharat_goku for fixing most of the problems in RC 1!
It's extremely lightweight, quick, and stable.

Details:
This rom is basically a highly themed CM7.2. I give all credit to the developers of LiGux, Coopoui, and CM. It includes the expanded LiGux settings which allows a lot of customization. I'll expand on customization/options in the second post. It features an MIUI-ish expanded statusbar with toggles for all the common settings.
Modifications (by ajrty33):
Removed Chinese from many, many various locations
Edited build.prop to remove unnecessary info and align it with current CM build.prop
Removed battery and memory tweaks from boot.img
Removed a few init tweaks
Modified updater-script to align with up-to-date CM standards
Changed available cpu freqs to standards in boot.img and framework
Edited eri.xml in framework-res to add Sprint
Replaced PinyinIME with LatinIME (keyboard)
Edited MMS settings in framework to remove Chinese carriers and align with CM settings
Edited apn settings in framework to align with CM
Fixed a few mis-translated words and a couple missing translations
Fixed text sizes in apps that were lost in translation
Fixed messaging menu force close with Kirin update
Updated included gapps
Updated Coopoui and LiGux to latest available versions (3.2)
Updated system files to latest from CM
Removed Chinese 'market crack' options (plan on removing this completely from settings)
Added 'missing' apks and removed Chinese apks
Fixed a few mistakes and a whole lotta little things.
