Ever since I unlocked my phone my service is slow! I have a TP2 on the VZW network
I ran the speed test at mobilespeedtest.com and it says 222 kbps that I am under what other people on verizon have got ... with the stock ROM it would say 3G now its says EV I know that its just the icon. also I would only have 2 bars at the max
I called verizon about this and they set up a TT - Trouble Ticket and Verizon people have called me saying everything is fine
I use the ppckitchen to bulid my own ROMs i have try other one here also allways the same problem.
__________________________________________________ _________
So today I tested a theory I had "What if i flashed back to stock and relocked my TP2"
So I did I reflashed to the stock ROM and Relocked
WoW i have full bars now
Speed test is now Showing 3g speeds of 448
So I am left with having to be on the stock ROM if I want the faster speed vs using HTC Since 2.5
Any help on this Will be thanked!

It sounds like you just need to determine which radio is included in that stock ROM, and flash that radio to your phone after you install a custom ROM.
Having read both of your posts here and on ppc, it seems like you aren't experience problems with radios, but when you unlock your radio, which honestly should not affect anything (Based on this info.)
In all honesty I experience anywhere from low 100s to high 700s depending on a lot of factors. Also, if you look at phone arena and multiple other websites, the TP2 doesn't have the best 3g receiver, meaning other phones will get better speeds. I think you need to chalk this one up as normal.
I have based my test results on dslreports.com/mspeed with 200k, 400k, and 1MB files using both IE and Opera (opera turbo disabled).
Hello,
I tried searching for this issue and could not find any help in the topics, though I see some others are having the same issue with out resolution.
My phone via 4g get's about 3-5mbps when I run speedtest on the evo...
I start wireless tether and the fastest speed I can get via my laptop is .7mbps.
I updated my wireless driver to allow maximum power and that has allowed the speed to stay constant and improved the situation a little. ( there was a post somewhere on here, so thank you for that one)
Any ideas/help on how I can get my wireless tether speed to match closer to the 4g speed the phone gets? I am using google's wireless tether pre3 version. I have tried all 3 versions ( from the stable one, pre2 and pre3) all having same issue.
Is a full 2-4mbps loss in speed normal via wireless tether?
I am using rooted stock 1.47 rom and have tried fresh ROM with same results.
Any tips or help is greatly appreciated.

Hey, thought I would add to the chorus...with a large caveat.
I average about 5-7 down and about 1 up pretty consistently in my home on the phone. But, when I just browse and surf the web via the Android Wifi Tether (2.07) on my phone, I only get around 500k-1meg via Speedtest.net. However, if I look at the stats on my Tether application while I view things like FB, I spike to well over 3 megs at times. AND when I get torrents, I am using my full bandwidth that my phone says I have available to me, with almost nothing lost (as far as I can tell) from the 4g service, through the Wifi, to my computer.
This might not mean too much, and in fact I might never have noticed anything, until I tried to watch HD videos on my Laptops browser connected to my Evo via the Wifi app. It simply will not give me much more than 700 k (you can track what the site (for example, TheDailyShow) sees as "available" to you), even though I know I have more than that available to me at that exact same second (because I tell the torrents that I had been downloading to slow down, and immediately speed back up again after I try to watch HD videos)
It's not the same issue, but I think they are related. Have you tried torrents to see what you actually have available to you? Try something common and legal, so as not to piss anyone off.
I know I have the capacity, and I know my phone can handle it, I just dunno why I can't get that bandwidth that I know I have access to via the Tether application on my Evo all the time that I am browsing.
When running speedtest.net on my computer I get around 10 mbps download, and around 9.5 mbps on rooted stock rom.
but whenever i try a gingerbread ROM, i.e oxygen, CM7, redux 1.2, etc with ALL radios...i get around 6.5 mbps sometimes 1mbps with other radios.
I have tested this many times, and always get a consistent speed over 9mbps
this also affects HSDPA speed (slow ping, and sudden speed increase/rapid decrease)
Can anyone confirm this?
Or is it just my device?
i'm having the same issues. just flashed omfgb 1.2. download speeds are dramatically reduced, testing same server from same distance from router. 22mbps down on laptop, 3 down on Dinc. i was running virtuous 3.2.0 with his custom kernal and always duplicated my laptops speed results.
Sooooo, what can we do about it? Can someone please help? I'm having the same issue. By the way, just downloaded samba file share, it's pretty cool, fairly basic interface though, you can basically transfer stuff "drag & drop" style without having to connect USB and mount as disk drive. My only issue is, you can't tell it "only use this network".
Maybe someone else could give this app a go and let me know what they think?
I know this might not be the correct section, but I don't have enough street cred yet to post in the "dev" forum under the appropriate thread. Anyhow, the CM forums are rather useless in terms of search capability and theres an seemingly very lacking sense of community based on the replies and general trolling I see.
So, I come to you xda-forum gurus.
I'm running decks latest ROM 1.2c CM7 w/Gingerbread. I've used a few of the customs and so far this one gives me nearly everything I've wanted in terms of features, stability, functionality, and speed....nearly.
A couple of things with this ROM (and CM7 in general):
1) Extremely slow USB storage transfer speeds to and from my PC.
When I'm using a CM7 ROM, my transfer speeds to my SDCARD are atrociously slow. I have a class 10 16GB card and I can barely top 1.0 MB/sec. Not such a big deal until I need to sync 10 GB of music. Basically, is there something I'm missing here in terms of patches, tips, tricks, hacks, etc?
2) Very slow signal strength on 3g and reduced signal strength on Wifi (not in a Wimax market).
I basically have gone from a consistent 4 bars to 1 bar of signal and have lost a lot of my signal strength from Wifi as well? I did see some things about this issue CM forums, but found answers.
Any help or direction is appreciated!
I think the data speeds have something to do with AOSP based roms, I have great non-4g speeds on a sense rom and I barely have any data connectivity with AOSP .
As far as usb transfer speeds, I read that could be a kernel issue. You can also try one of the SD Speed Boost like apps to increase the cache size. This may not help a lot, but it could make a difference.
AOSP roms show signal strength differently than Sense roms. It could be that you have the same signal but it's displayed lower, or your speeds could actually be lower. There's a fix for slow 3g speeds floating around, I'll see if I can find it for you. I'm not sure about wifi, though.

I see the same thing, any of the Sense ROMs I've used have resulted in "descent" 3G speeds (speed here in Memphis generally sucks regardless). But on CM7 (I've not used MIUI or any other ASOP variations), its bad enough that I can't use any streaming audio applications and browsing in general is really painfully slow. Frankly though I'm more concerned about the USB transfer speeds, as I frequently use my SCARD for file storage for work related file syncing.
Thanks for the validation that its just my phone.

For 3G, I would recommend trying the fix on a sense rom > http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...aybe-boost-your-3g-speeds-with-a-simple-hack/ ; xda method, just with pictures.
And yes, AOSP show the data strength, not like sense, so you will see 1x, ect, unlike on sense. As for usb transfer speeds, they were shot in the .37 kernels, try using a .38 kernel, or one of the apps the plainjane suggested.
I think its something other than how the 2 types of roms are reporting the speeds.
For instance, I can leave my phone sitting on its dock on my desk and run speedtest in a sense rom, getting around 2Mb/s. When I flash an AOSP rom, while the phone is sitting in the exact same postion, speedtest will only run at 150-200Kb/s.

Awesome, upgraded to newest Titmat, and Im reading at 12-18 MB/sec now, writing is still a bit wonky, but that helps tremendously. So embarrassing having to wait so long at a customers site for my files to copy.

As always, they're still being fixed, but glad that it helped a bit.

what radio are u using..? you should try using the latest radio and see if that helps, i get a steady 4-5mb/s dwm on fair coverage
This may have been covered but I have searched a little (because the 3g is so slow, its taken me a while to get to here) and couldn't find a solution.
I rooted my HTC One X and upgraded HBOOT to 1.39 from 1.13 or whatever is was. I installed XenonHD. The OS runs perfectly but my 3g speeds are ridiculous, I ran speed test and the DL was 0.1mbps and upload around 3mbps.
Is there a fix for this? Can I flash a new baseband or radio to fix it?
Solved.
To solve this issue I edited my build.prop file and changed the .HSDPA=8 and .HSUPA=4 category values to 28 and 10 respectively. This changed my download speed from 0.1mbps to 5-6mbps and uploads to 3-4mbps or something like that. If anyone wants further clarification then pm me.
PS I'm not sure if I have to change other values but doing this only foxed my slow data problem
