Flash ESN from Vogue to HTC HD - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

Speculation:
Would anybody know if it would be possible to take the esn number from your htc touch and put it on an htc hd? Would it show any different on a providers
network?

No can do, sorry. HTC HD is GSM......network depends on the SIM card you put in the HD -(or NAM settings in Vogue)

i thought the hd was a quad band world phone? cdma and gsm?

Quad band doesnt mean that it's both GSM and CDMA, nor does "world".
Quad band just means that it can take four different frequencies, and world means that it can be used around the world.

T-Mobile Desire will be the HTC Desire!

Just been told this by T-Mobile Support. The HTC Desire on T-Mobile will be the HTC Desire, this means all HTC Branding is intact, no HTC logos are replaced with the T-Mobile one, no design features changed etc.
https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/coming-soon/htc-desire/
This I beleive is the first HTC Handset in a long time on TMobile in my experiance:
The HTC Diamond:
- Was renamed the MDA IV
- Had no diamond back
- Had no HTC Branding
The G1:
- Renamed the T-Mobile G1
- Had no coloured call and end call buttons.
- Had No HTC Branding
The Hero:
- Renamed the G2 Touch
- Had no HTC Branding
I don't know how important this is to people but it was quite important to me, I'd much rather have a HTC Desire than a T-Mobile G3 Touch My3g...
P.S. Just a thought, it might not have any network branding at all seeing as how Orange and T-Mobile are soon to become one, possibly new named, network.
That's good news. But their pricing will be key. I've been told we'll know on the 26th.
Just wondering...would the UK version of the Desire work in the U.S.?
I don't think so. Desire is Dualband. However the nexus is triband

Incorrect. Both phones are quad band.
From HTC's own specifications:
HTC Nexus One
HSDPA/WCDMA: 900/AWS/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HTC Desire
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
So, with the exception of AWS on the Nexus, the specs are identical.

Fair enough, confused myself when i read this article - so the difference is triband vs dualband with regards to browsing/3g speeds?
"The Desire lacks both the active noise cancellation and the triband HSDPA/WCDMA of the Nexus One, making do with just dualband 900/2100. That means it’s not much use – at least in terms of high-speed cellular connectivity – outside of Europe and Asia; take the Desire to the US and you’ll be stuck using quadband EDGE or hunting for WiFi hotspots."
It will work on T-Mobile USA you will get 3G. If you use it on AT&T you will only get edge as it doesnt support AT&T's 3G. It will not work on Verizon or Sprint.

If in fact it does support 3G for T-mobile USA...then I believe some people in the marketplace are about to make some money when this phone comes out
why does t-mobile UK get all of the good phones? T-mobile US gets sidekicks and g1's

Understood, as I am with T-mobile right now so...my only concern is whether or not I could catch 3G

You do realise you would need a Sim Free Desire?
A T-Mobile UK handset wouldn't work with T-Mobile US.

You know that thought just ran through my mind right before I logged in
Guess I am back to square 1...either importing one or waiting until AT&T "hopefully" gets it, in which I would probably jump ship.
WOWzers, is t mobile UK selling an exclsive black version like they did with HTC Hero?> :Looks like it from the pics...

[Q] HTC evo 4G for GSM network world wide

hi friend,
Did you know that HTC Evo 4G working with GSM world wide or not ?
How to unlock it ?
James
The evo does not have a gsm antenna, so no it will not work on any gsm network.
It's not a matter of "unlocking" it, but rather a simple hardware limitation. CDMA and GSM operate on different radio frequencies, and therefore require different hardware.

The HTC Desire HD is the GSM equivalent of the Evo. Samsung also has the Galaxy S series of phones which are somewhat comparable.
I seen people making it pocket and recently people making it boost mobile and everything is working fine i was surprise i wonder how they did it
Boost mobile is a CDMA network which is the same frequencies that Sprint uses. Boost is also owned by Sprint so that may be why you are seeing that. In the U.S. CDMA Networks are U.S. Cellular, Sprint, Boost, Verizon, Cricket. But many of those use different frequencies and all CDMA devices do not use SIM Cards (GSM) unless theyare Quad-Band World Phones which the EVO 4G is not.
Sorry

HTC DesireHD radio questions

Hello,
I currently use a HTC Desire HD handset, so far everything has been awesome.. One problem is that the network provider I am using (Vodafone Australia) is pretty much hopeless. The alternative is to go with Telstra, however they use different HSPA frequencies to those that my handset supports.
Vodafone Australi - 900/2100
Telstra Next-G - 850
I have a few questions which I've been unable to categorically answer from other posts.
1) is it possible to flash alternative firmware for the radio?
2) is there firmware which supports Quad Band HSPA for HTC handsets?
3) What is the actual radio chipset used in the Desire and Desire HD?
I travel a fair bit around the world, the normal Australian vodafone frequencies work well in the EU and many parts of Asia, however If I do go with a Telstra frequency then I loose the roaming, hence the question about Quad Band HSPA/UMTS.
Regards,
Jimmy.
tha'ts a really good question, i want to know about that too.. and btw, who uses 850mhz frequency? wtf... =oP
Radio frequencies are hard coded into the cpu chipset, and thus cannot be changed by flashing a new radio

[Q] Ace or Inspire?

Hi my plushies
Anyways. I just got a Desire HD! YAY ME!
Being a Desire owner for 2 years and seeing a lot of great development on the HD, i'd give it a go. So far seems good, though i like the AMOLED a bit more imo
So my first boot after getting it from retailer, it boots with T-Mobile logo. That means its from USA right? Is my phone then an Inspire or a Ace? Afaik, the Inspire is the american version?
The weird part is, i got the T-Mobile one because the other one (a danish one WWE), was send for repair and i recieved this instead.
Will this affect anything? And how the *** do i figure out of its an Inspire or Ace?!
**Btw, i did do my search first lol
**Is it on the bootloader? I saw an "Ace" in there, but wasn't sure if everyone DHD had that name
*2. edit* Lol apparently i've used the wrong terms. So, Desire HD or Inspire (Apparently their all Ace (As in vendor Ace, like the Desire -> Vendor Bravo))
Inspire is the 4g version DHD was not.
also check the "full" spec list at the bottom of this page
http://www.differencebetween.com/difference-between-htc-inspire-4g-and-vs-htc-desire-hd/
I've got a german t-mobile branded phone so i'd never be sure where it's from
but yes: DHD is the HSPA version, Inspire 4G is the 4G version (LTE? HSPA+? no clue)
My phone is an American inspire that i bought unlocked online... its actually an ATT phone and not tmobile. If your phone is a Tmobile then its def not american but probably from some other countey instead. Another way to find out is by seeing if you get access to 3g in yoir country. Because att uses frequencies that are different from most other countries around the world, the american Inspire doesnt get access to 3g data in most countries. Apart from that its practicaly the same phone hope this helpzs

There are basically 3 versions of the Desire HD.
First is the European/Asian version. It is model A9191 and has high speed data bands of 900/2100. It can be branded or non branded but they are all the same physically. If it says T-mobile on it then it is a European version branded to T-mobile.
2nd is the Telus Desire HD from Canada. It is model A9192 and has high speed data bands of 850/1900. It has no logo denoting it as a branded phone. It also has a second mic by the camera flash used for noise reduction.
3rd is the Inspire 4G from ATT in the USA. It is also model A9192. Physically it is exactly like the Telus Desire HD except it has ATT branding logos on the phone.
All 3 phones are HSPDA compatible. All 3 have the same size memory. All three have the same LCD. In terms of getting at least 3G, if you live in Europe you want the A9191. The A9192 is mainly for North America/parts of South America and can be used in parts of Australia on the Telstra network.
Hi I currently have a A9191 running CM7.2.
When I purchased this phone (in Australia) I was originally on the Vodafone network & I'm now on Telstra NextG (850) - but for high speed data it can only get the "3" network = 2100.
I wanted to know if it is possible to load on the A9192 baseband to "activate" / change to the high speed data bands of 850/1900? Or if there is any other mod to do this?
Or is the physical hardware of the A9191 only capable of the high speed data bands of 900/2100?
Any help or advise would be much appreciated

I don't know the specs for the dhd, but it is a hardware issue.

Thanks Teichopsia,
Looking at this thread, it looks like he was trying to get 4G (inspire4G) out of a 3G device, which I'd say is even harder than just switching bands.
But it doesn't mention anything about the A9192 vs A9291.
Even Qualcomm's site doesn't list a A9192.
I agree it does look like a potentially hardware thing though - i.e. potentially different radio hardware / antenna / firmware... but I don't specifically see this detailed anywhere. Looking to see something that says it is different physical hardware.
The theory I'd like to validate - both Desire HDs use the same MSM8255 chipset, & perhaps you can make a A9191 to a A9292 with flashing the right firmware.
Going to reply to the thread you sent to see if they had any further luck.
Kind Regards,
David.

HTC Desire in USA

Hi everybody, I am going to live in the US for a semester and I want an american number. I found the possibility of buying a Sim Card on T-Mobile and use it with my unlocked phone. The problem is that my phone does not appear in the list of compatible phones. My phone is HTC Desire (Bravo), European model. In the box it appears the following: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and HDSPA/WCDMA 900/2100.
Will I get 3G? I've talked to several operators, each one tells me a different thing. There was even one who asked for my IMEI and told me 3G would work 100% sure. Others tell me that I won't only get EDGE speed.
Who can clarify this? It is REALLY important. I LOVE my cellphone, I don't want one of those prepaid phones that are crap, I'd only buy another phone if it would be better than mine, but they are really expensive and it has no sense to buy a cellphone for 4 months when I have one cellphone that I love.
WHAT CAN I DO? I will use data on a daily basis to connect with my family overseas!
Most of US carriers use 850 and 1900MHz for GSM and 1700 and 1900 for HSPA and WCDMA, so I think you won't have luck with 3G, but the rest will do perfectly.
