hello i have flashed the 4.49.25.17 radio nd have alwais worked well but i also see ppl like alot the 4.49.25.57 radio, so i would like to know wich would b better for my TP2 on T-Mobile USA? thnx in advance.
I'm on the 4.49.25.17 radio as well and I'm with T-Mobile.
It's worked very well with every ROM that I've tried. If .57 is better, I'd like to know too.

There is no better radio
Signal quality and battery consumption are afected by a compbination ROM/Radio/cell provider
The best you can do is to test several combinations and find what suits you better.

I am curious to which rom is prefered form people that have used both. I use the asia right now, but I am thinking of trying the pd2k. It seems from all the reading that some are happy with one and others are not (with the same device)
I am more concerned with GPRS and BT. I do not use the wifi at all really.
Thanks in advance.
hi all
i posted this over at buzzdev.net but don't seem to be getting any takers :-( sorry for cross posting but perhaps someone here has some clues.....
i got given a t-mobile mda-pro last week which is now unlocked and orange UK branded (my home network) thanks to buzz's perfect timing! the radio rom version with the latest orange package is 1.03 so obviously i'm tempted by one of the 1.09 ones held on his site.
could somebody tell me the difference between the three available ie. JASJAR ITA 1.30.81 169 1.09.00 ITA ship ROM, JASJAR ME 1.30.82 171 10900 WWE ship ROM and JASJAR SA 1.30.82 170 1.09.00 WWE ship ROM. which one might be the best bet for using with orange uk.
also will i lose the orange settings (which seem to be working just fine for me) or the push email update which their rom has. should i expect better signal levels with a different radio rom or is that down to the hardware. at the moment my mda/m5000 seems to need a pretty strong signal (gsm) to work.
thanks in advance and sorry for the long post - as i said, new to this cheers!
sihaz
I've just changed mine from the Orange ROM to 1.09.00 - 3G seems a lot better now and the battery life has improved a hell of a lot. All I upgraded was the Radio, no settings were affected (As far as I've been able to tell) and the whole process was quite easy As for possible differences between the 3 versions... FIIK!
what about the new dopod 1.11.00 ROM? anyone experience with that?

Yes, the MDA Vario 2 is a TYTN. I have been using Black 2.0 for ages and it works great.
Search the forums, I would say that 10% of all posts are by Vario 2 owners.
Think I'll go for the Black 2.5 as seems to have the t-mob rom

All flavours work!
Also, JJ's made a T-Mobile version of Black 2.5
YAY!! just put the black 2.5 on there (just the OS not the radio) and WOW!! love it!
Is there any advantage to upgrading the Radio and the bootloader?

Look up at a cloud. Do you see (a) some kind of animal or maybe a face or (b) a random form made of water vapour.
If (a), it's worth upgrading the radio.

noticed a H now instead of a 3... think from what I've seen, there actually is no difference, just the logo?
did you have any issues installing hard spl? Can you show me which process you used to install?

H means you're using HSDPA and there can be a big difference over normal 3G but it depends on what you are doing.

On older radio, does HSDPA still work even if you just have the 3G icon? I'm enabled for H... but never see the icon, I presume cos I'm on the original radio.

I'm on T Mobile UK in East Anglia and the radio in my sig has done me well, haven't found a better one so far.
otherwise use the radio that came with the last OEM rom from orange.

I tried that, but it ate my battery when running under HSDPA, and didn't give me better signal or download speed.
I've just updated to 1.56.70.11 and will test over the next few days to see. I was on 1.54.00.10 and it was shocking for battery drain.....I'm on Orange, in Bolton btw.....
Have you switched to GSM-GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100) in the settings>personal>phone>band to see if that makes any difference?

I have always left it on auto, I don't see why that would make to much of a difference.
I remember reading a thread a while ago regarding battery life/drain, and iirc this was one of the suggestions......I switched it and it did improve battery life......
It was something to do with the phone trying to connect to HSPDA and this prevents it from doing it.

Yesss you're right - this will reduce your battery drain ! Switch to GSM to save battery and disable push mail (change it from Immediately in the scheduling of activesync settings).
Definitely leave phone in 2G unless you need it. I have push email using Seven and my battery life is very good, as long as I leave it in 2G mode. I have used 1.47.30 and the one in my sig for long periods of time. Battery life was about the same for me but the 1.56. has very slightly better reception. Either will serve you will as they'll probably be the last ones we'll get.

Not when you use a 2400aMh battery its no problem
As the post starter I thought that I would post my findings after a few days...........
Well, the result is (shown in my signature) is 1.56.70.11
Im a very heavy user of wi-fi, gaming, texting and calls, and really put both (1.47.30.10 and 1.56.70.11) to the test, I disabled HSPDA as told by another user in this post, and 1.56 version had by far the better phone signal, had more battery after same test (After 6 hours non stop 1.47 had 48% and 1.56 had 66%)
So there you go. That answers my question in post 1 lol

Ya it is definitely GSM, the CDMA models have a 3.5 mm jack as well where the GSM models only have the adaptor for the mini usb.

There was a post with all the different battery covers for the tp2, I recall the AT&T one having a different battery cover because it didn't have the 3.5. I'm looking for it now.
Wasn't able to find that exact post, but i've found this. All GSM models DO NOT have a 3.5 jack.

The different back is because we have the extra Push To Talk Button... WHICH I dont actually know anyone who uses it for that... we all remap it to something usefull... So really we have an extra button to play with I guess that everyone else doesnt have.

And yes.. you want to flash a GSM rom.. read through the stickies in the rom forum's and make sure you really know what you are doing. All your questions will be answered there likely if you do the reading and search around a bit.
