Since JMG has wifi isuues, I jumped onto JMI !
I've created this for folks who want a safe and easy to install firmware.
This firmware is for any NA, Euro or Asian GSM Tab. They don't contain and won't install protected bootloaders.
All the files are here:
http://files.deodexed.com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/Rotohammer/JMI/
Note:Please backup your apps and settings with Titanium Backup from the market.
Write down ALL your current APN settings in Settings/Wireless/Mobile/Access Point Names/, the one with the green dot next to it. There is 14 settings in all.

Flash using Odin, using PDA button for any file you flash. If you need/want to flash the addons too, use the PHONE and CSC buttons, they all do the same thing.
Simple how-to guide here:

gonna try this out..thanks.
Sent from my samsung tab
Sweet. Going to try this in a bit. I didn't get a chance to perform the upgrade on JMG to see if that would solve the Wi-Fi issues. Hope JMI does!
just did a clean flash and will see how it runs! JME v4 was rocking for me prior to this.

So far so good. Maybe I'm mistaken, but damn this firmware is fast! Really fast!
I had the wifi issue since I got the tab even with the stock fware... I hope it gets solved soon. It prevents some apps to do nighttime leeching of podcasts and such... Once it did it over 3g and almost ate all of my data plan. With JMG the problem seems bit worse, it happens more often... Will try JMI tomorrow, man gotta sleep when man gotta sleep
P.S. The battery life with JMG seems significantly improved over JME
voicemail notification
Just flashed the rom and yeah i feel the speed, but how to remove the voicemail notification..
second that voicemail icon, see it and cant get rid of it
also is the market app an older version? looks not soo cool when compared to JMG...
flashed it again and still have the same problem, guess have to wait for a upgrade or something....
wipe everything & made a full flash, modem switcher works as usual, seems this rom really runs faster... so far so good. thanks again, Roto!!

Voicemail icon is not a big deal, im wondering where it come from and no option to get rid of it,,Yeah made a clean and full flash.
Flashed back from MoDaCo+ext to Roto-JMI-Full-v1 with no problems (flashed Roto-JMI-Full-v1.tar + P1_add_hidden.pit + Bell I9000UGJK4 radio with Odin1.7).
Rom seems very snappy so far.
Haptic buttons auto-dim and screen times out as normal.
Just flashed this firmware and indeed it's fast. however is it normal no PDA and CSC when u pressed? *#1234#?
Thanks Roto!

This is a great firmware, and yes, it's pretty damn fast. But all the firmwares seem fast once they're freshly installed... so I'll wait a couple of days and then see. That's the true test!
Anyway, I have a question for all you Tab'ers out there;
Have you noticed that while you're watching a video, the button backlights NEVER turn off?
If this is true and the bug belongs to the firmware (and not the fool using it) then is there some way to correct it? It's quite distracting when I'm watching a fine comedy in bed, trying to fall asleep, with these bright, white icons burning my eyeballs out
Thanks to Roto, by the way, for this REALLY fast package. My hero.
How do you check asian tab, euro tab? I have australian tab, how do I cheeck my tab belong to??

Since I can't post in the developer section yet i'm asking here, hope it's ok. Been looking at the ROM for a few mins and it looks great, but i've been using MIUI for so long my flashing skills are kind of rusty.
First of all, the kernel is included in the ROM and is the one the developer recommends or have developed right?
And secondly, wich radio is recommended for the ROM? Could'nt find any answer to that in the first post dedicated to the ROM. Should i flash radio before or after i flash the ROM?
Again hope you don't mind me posting this stupid question here and thank you in advance for your answers.
Oh and btw does HTC Watch work with these ROMs? Living in Sweden if it matters.

follow my signature for trouble free flash and welcome to rcmix3d 1.5... best rom out there and if the htc watch service is available in your country then yes it will work.
Transferring the ROM, Supercharger, full wipe 1.5 ext4, and the overclock thing right now, hopefully I'll have it done with the titanium backed up apps installed as well. Your signature actually helped alot.

you are welcome just remember while using titanium backup DO NOT restore system apps and ONLY restore user apps without data.. even better if you have not started already just make a folder in the root of your sdcard\RCTeam\app.user and copy all your user apps from data\app folder to sdcard\RCTeam\app.user and let the rom install your apps automatically.
Restoring data was the reason i bought titanium backup
I'll just restore the apps i had then with market links. The ROM is really fast btw, the eyecandy isn't too bad either.

Actually it seems that the script killersloth linked is the problem as the phone froze again before i even entered my SIM Pin, I'll just flash the restore thing before it freezes the next time.
And Wavesecure is actually really good, I can lock and locate and wipe the phone with simple text messages, though I never use any kind of AV apps.

I would just go with a standard Rom flash set it up as my liking then do a nand backup only then I will start playing with oc\uv and fine tuning the rom to my liking... it has saved me a lot of problems faced by many users. just my way of doing things. after every success mod I do a nand backup incase my next mod messes up something I have a backup to come back to saves a lot of time and hassle. IMHO I can't say any thing about killersloth's script coz I have not used it.
NAND backups takes ages xD
However the phone is working as it should now, all thats left is a nice theme, anyone?
I won't be playing around with voltages and speeds on the CPU, default is just fine.

I can't log in to Facebook using friend stream when I want to put on my lockscreen, just says wrong username or password although I know it's not.
Can I use any of the ROMs listed in the OUT kitchen or do I have to upload my own files as the ones for this specific ROM aren't available.

your best bet is to upload the files from your phone or the downloaded rom, in the uot kitchen.. the fc problem in the glass theme is a known issue you overcome it by disabling the sound effects in the weather app
OK, thanks for the fc fix.
Only thing bothering me with the theme is the transparency in the status bar, replacing it and the battery, + a new font. Then I'm happy until I find something fancier

Okay so i am wondering is there a way to change the carrier name on a stock or custom ROM, Ive already tried the QPST, and CDMA WS Methods and neither work weather it be the stock ROM or a custom ROM.
.
On the stock ROM the carrier name is blank when in CDMA Mode, except when i switch to GSM only it shows T-Mobile, and on all of the custom roms it only shows my MCC and MNC ie 310012.... is there a way to modify this that i haven't thought of?
Do you want to change the banner?
Or do you want to change your network provider?

It depends on your ROM. With CM7 access is under
Settings - CyanogenMod settings - interface - status bar tweaks
I found a way to do it in terminal emulator on my old OG Droid a long time ago. Good keyword for your search is "carrier banner"
Good luck!

Can someone please share this for me? I am using the i9300 and having wifi calling will be a real improvement for me. I've tried searching, all I get so far is that the apk works only on touchwiz (which is what I have), but nobody's put up a link to this mythical thing
It only works for Tmobile, if you're using international S3 it won't work.
It's not just a apk, it's in the framework too.

I am on an Omega Jelly Bean ROM on t-mobile, with the i9300 variant. Don't I check all the right boxes? I thought the framework that it needed was part of touchwiz?
its way way more complicated then what you think it is.

The pack has to be built for touchwiz because of the libs used to make it work.
You need the wifi calling provisioning or it won't route the UMA traffic over the right T-Mobile gateway.
Files:
system/app/com.android.kineto.apk
system/lib/libganril.so
system/lib/lib_ril_switch.so <--- may be custom modded for vendor (ie: Samsung, HTC etc)
system/lib/libkineto.so
system/lib/libreference-ril.so
system/lib/librilswitch.so
There may or may not be other files but you can see it's not just an APK.

Thank you, that's a great start! When I get back home today, I'll take a stab at extracting these from a T999 update and try it out. If it works, I'll see how complicated creating an update.zip is and package it.

That is a start but im afraid that's about all it is. You'd also need wificall.apk (com.movial.wifiicall) and probably some binary files.
Also, even if you managed to get all the correct files, you would then need to port the code over to settings so you can use it. There is also probably code in systemui, framework, etc. I just doubt that simply flashing the files to your phone will work...unless the i9300 version of tw has it already and you just need it to work for tmobile. I dont think itll be a quick or easy thing to do.

It is possible to get wifi calling on your i9300. As seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHhjduFCCug] need to flash a T-Mobile S3 ROM on your phone. Much more simply than the methods discussed above.

If the OP follows your instructions, he will have a brick.
I bought a Galaxy S4 from my local T-Mobile store, and unhappy with several components of TouchWiz (and the bloatware), I decided to flash a custom Google-like ROM on it - finally choosing VirginROM. The thing is, since I haven't been posting in here, I can't ask my questions in the ROM's thread... Also, this is the first time I've flashed a ROM, or even a rooted a device, so some of my questions will be unrelated to the specific ROM I chose.
So here there be questions. Feel free to direct me to any appropriate guides and resources for the answers, I am as happy reading on my own as having the answer handed to me.
VirginROM Updates: It looks like the ROM is being updated pretty frequently. How do I update it? Through the system updates (that doesn't sound right), or by... re-flashing the ROM?
VirginROM addons: Same question. How do I install them?
Uh, my posting time was cut short. I'll add the other questions a little later. Those two were the big ones anyway.

You just flash them through recovery.
You install the addons through recovery as well.
Doing a full wipe when installing new updates is recommended but you can get away with just wiping cache & dalvik cache.
Are the updates being released as separate (small) archives, or as an updated version of the full ROM?

Usually most of the time is the full ROM updated. They'll let you know when its only an incremental update that you can just flash on top of the current version.

That's weird... I could've sworn I tried that and it didn't work... Works now though, so all id good.
A couple more VR-specific questions then:
Lock screen widgets: do those work? I tried touching and holding around the lock screen, but all I get is the ability to resize the native clock widget and select the lock button (I use the slide option to unlock)
Contact merging: On my old phone I could choose to manually merge certain contacts (e.g. I could choose my phone contact "Alex" and then add my Facebook contact "Alexander S." and merge them even though the names weren't identical). Is this something I can do here somehow?
This is JB 4.3 and the API has changed to 18, so keep that in mind, it's also built from a leaked, test build. I am not sure about ur questions because this is not my daily driver. I know there is a camera if you slide the clock down and then slide the box right, and some additional if you slide left instead of right. Just ask in the VirginROM thread, it's much better to post ur questions there and to keep that thread active. Someone will definitely help you a lot quicker also, even mrvirginia himself, he is cool as hell, make sure to donate to him if you can as well.
To be perfectly honest, the only reason I am asking here is because I don't have the 10 posts required to post in the ROM's thread. As soon as I get there I'll ask my questions in the much more appropriate forum.

Lock screen widgets work perfectly. Make sure you swipe close to edge of screen.
Also, remember that this is Nexus- like, not Cyanogenmod-like. And very much different than Touchwiz. Most things work as they would on a Nexus. This rom runs extremely well. The battery percentage mod (flash in recovery) is highly recommended.
To add toggles to notification shade , try Widgetsoid, Power Toggles, or Settings Extended from the Play store. i have not seen a mod for Quick Settings toggles yet.
