I can download the 4 new HTC widgets just fine but when I click to install them or open them I get the error "Incompatible Update" is this because I'm running a Modaco ROM and a rooted device? If so, is there any fix for this yet? Would 'Market enabler' help?

Probably.. It seems HTC has totally forgotten about GSM Hero. They are really getting on my nerves.
Worked for me..
have a stock Dutch gsm Hero with stock updated rom and everything working fine, so no, it's not cdma (only)
rooted roms
I read somewhere that HTC have put a block on rooted and non-sense UI roms..
Hopefully modacco or someone can port these over
where are these new widgets?

There not for CDMA.
I'm running MDC 3.0, on my rooted GSM UK Hero, I've downloaded, installed and can use the new widgets with no problems. I had to download the battery widget twice since it didn't take the first time, but they're running fine now.
could someone share the .apks of the widgets please? i'd like to see what happens when i just copy them on the phone and reboot.

EDIT: It doesn't work, let's move on.
Just saw this now, apparently it works for all HTC 2.1 devices using the 'fake ota' method.
I will rewrite the guide here once someone has confirmed it works.
I can not and will not test this as I wasn't stupid enough to flash the official 2.1 RUU.

Once you get to clockwork mod recovery you should be able to flash a custom rom!

Reports on the guide website suggest that this will NOT work for HTC Hero users or in fact any phone which did not originally ship with v2.1 of Android.
I'd love someone to prove this wrong so keep trying but don't get your hopes up.

here is another explaination to root cdma hera - don't know if it works or not, don't know if it's the same for gsm hero

I just wan't to make it more clear to my self. If I understood you ppl right, there is no possible way to root official GSM 2.1? Or am I wrong?
And does anyone know, how fast we will get rooted GMS EU 2.1 after it is released? Fast thing to do?
Also first part of OTA (YouTube update), i hope it didn't take ability to root from me?

There is no known way, yet.
There are already rooted GSM custom rom's based upon the 2.1 releases which have happened so far. It takes dev's a few hours from release usually to get them into the public domain.

If you installed the latest ota just downgrade & root.
For rooting the europe 2.1 I aim to be as fast as last time but it depends on when it is released.

Well then IMO you have to add to your guide.
"First, you need to downgrade your ROM to 2.73.xxx.x"
Like: "Also downgrade 2.73.405.93, even if it starts with 2.73...".
Btw: If I would flash Part 2 OTA update, 2.1 andoird, would it be as easy as now, to downgrade?

You can't downgrade once you flash part 2 as the version will change from 2.73.xxx.xx

That means our Flash 10.1 is Beta, but I can't find Flash in Market. So how can I update it ? Thanx
UPDATE: It looks like currently only Nexus One owners are seeing the option to update to this latest version.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/70993-flash-player-10-1-download-droid.html
I remember being able to install the 10.1 update when I had the DeFroSt Rom on my phone that made it report as a N1. And I could get that update. Can't remember the DeFroSt Rom version tho
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Ap
can anyone advise what files we need to remove on roms that have the beta version baked in? new market version won't install on my rooted Desire...
Usually called "install_flash_player.apk" in /system/app by most ROM developers. Guess look for something with the name of "flash". Then in /system/lib there is also a libflashplayer.so. You should also delete that.
Remember both can only be removed in recovery since they are in /system.
Why someone can see the update and someone can't?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Sense ROMs can't see the update (unless they're already on the final version). Anyone know the full build number?

the full build number should be 10.1.92.8
Is there a way to update this? As far as I know this should be also a security update.
I'm on 10.1.7x.x so obviously in need of said update - hopefully it'll kick in at some point!
Yeah, got it today, running defrost in Sweden, no longer beta version.
There are apk's of the final version of flash floating around on the internet, I picked up a copy from /r/Android section of Reddit. It's working fine for me. Can't give url atm, sry.

Yeah, I second that. I just installed the .Apk which I found from a link in a forum. there's no need to uninstall the beta which is bundled with the 2.2 update. The final version just installs over the top as an upgrade. it also gives you the option to remove the update if required by using the "applications" menu in "settings".
Haven't noticed any differences yet though.

I suppose this gets installed in RAM alongside with the beta version found in Android 2.2 Froyo?
Can it be installed so it replaces the existing beta version, avoiding to double the space required?
Maybe a package that can be installed with ClockWorkMod recovery?
Thanks for the link. But flash occupies 12.5mb on my desire!! Thats insane! As it is there is so little space to install apps, and with this, it becomes even worse.
when installing, it actually offers upgrade, so I presume it doesn't install twice

ram is random access memory and has nothing to do with storage, this will install in data/app, if you have one already on your fone just use adb to remove installflashplayer.apk from /system/app/
so with froyo, we have Flash and Flash lite ? Any way to remove the lite thing ?
Where can I get them? They seem very hard to find. I mean the default ones that come with 2.2 Galaxy S.
It should be in stock JPH rom iirc. Or at the least I can guarantee it's in goatrip.
Thanks though I meant in standalone form so I can install them on a phone that doesnt have it without needing to go to goatrip rom just for that.
talking about this one ?
mine is 2.2 froyo btw.. so should match..

Hi , last week i bought a new HTC ONE X and i got it with htc sence based on android 4.0.4.
today i updated the software and flashed a new version of android 4.1.1 - JB.
since the update im having a few problems, where the major one is the weather widget. as you can see in the pic i have no details of the weather - just a visual effect when switching from a location, to a different one.
i have tried everything... talked with the HTC support , i wiped the cache, etc, but nothing worked.
i dont want to root my phone, i wish to stay with the stock htc sense rom that came with the phone.
does anyone else has this kind of issues after updating the version of android lately ???
PLS HELP

If I can install / modify some of the files of the rom to suit my LU6200 please tell me that so as well. Seemingly I see no answers are replied in this thread making me kinda hopeless for an answer.
Thanks!

does anyone have a clue how the su640 official 10.1 works? as i made it work on my lu6200 but it got some issues, display drivers i guess as page flipping and rotation is not smooth.
su640 cm10 works fine as the one in lu6200 thread gave me random reboots.

Hi guys, I am having a problem with my lu6200. It sometimes randomly reboot. Not excessively but once or twice a day. This happened 1st time when I flashed and used LTE ICE Cream 4.0.4 v163.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856223. I have flashed different roms including cm10 by wflsl and now cm10.1 try8 by tdmcode but its still the same. I haven't installed any new app and all the apps I am using are those which I used before the problem occurred.I have flashed ics engineer kdz again to make sure I have a clean os but my device rebooted again today by itself. What do you people suggest? Thanks for reply.
Update: I have removed the memory card last night and still no reboot. I am hoping its just a bad sdcard.
Update2: Yeah that was definitely a problem with the sdcard. I formated my sdcard from my pc using a card reader and re inserted in my device. No reboot after about 19 hrs of uptime.
