I looked for that thead and could not find it, could any one tell me how can i do this?
I really want to update to WM6.1 with one of these great roms. Here's my issue. I don't care about the MyFaves crap on the homescreen or even having the program on my phone. If I switch to one of these roms will it effect how MyFaves works? I don't plan on changing my faves and even so I could just do it online via MyTmobile. I just want to make sure that if I do use one of these roms I can still call these people with no charge. I'm not sure if It's on Tmobile's end or on my end. Thanks. :3
Now I am not with T-Mobile myself, but I beleive that its on T-Mobiles end...I dont think that your phone has anything to do with it, other than providing an easy way to tell whos on your MyFavs list, instead of having to remember them.
correct, the My Faves does not need to be on the phone itself. I have the same plan and set it up online.
Great to hear! It will be a few days before i do this so if anyone knows somthing we dont let me know!
I've updated my ROM to the latest HTC ROM offered on this site and have not had any issues. My Faves, as you know, will not be on the phone itself, but can be changed from the MyT-Mobile website. The My Faves program on your phone only lets T-Mobile know which 5 numbers you've chosen and if and when you have changed them.
The biggest loss in getting rid of MyFaves from your phone is the convenience of changing them on the fly. Without it, you must have a computer available. Not really a big issue for me, but it may be for others.
Great! Here's another question for ya. I have been using the T-Zones Proxy to get free EDGE/GPRS. Will a new ROM make this unusable since T-Zones will no longer be on my phone? Sorry If I seem like a noob lol. I got my phone in September of last year and the most I've done is proxy it and mod the JOGGR.
It works for me...
I do this for my company and i don't get charged extra. I just change my Faves online. Good Luck!

Are you referring to free internet due to a glitch by T-Mobile or are you referring to the $5.99 T-Mobile hotspot plan hack/work-around? The first method is a glitch on T-Mobile's part and will most likely be corrected anyway. I've read that you will lose the Hotspot capability which may screw you if you get internet via the hack/work-around.
I know this doesn't really help, but I'm one of those suckers that pays for the internet so I can't answer your question. You may also want to check out howardforums.com or just use google to help you find an answer to your question. Sorry I couldn't do more to help.
can't seem to find it either. please help my gf is so mad cause she doesn't know how to use her phone w/o myfaves. lol.
also where do you find this hack went to that site posted above and no go cannot find it
now if you do have myfavs can u still use this hack?

This will put myfaves on your phone got it in another forum.. I can not take credit. It will not be on front page but it will be on the phone.

I just recently bought a Dash as a regular phone/ emulator on the go for cheap.
I started flashing the day of my purchase, testing out different wm6.1 roms.
Some questions I have I think I have the final verdict for, but if anyone would like to share a difference, that would be lovely xD
1. What are t-zones?
[Seriously, I can't for the life of me find this, not even on TMO's site.]
2a. Is there a way to fix the 'Communication Error' in OZ Messenger on roms other then TMO's official rom?
[As far as I've seen, some people say it works if you install it to the device instead of a storage card, but others say it just won't work outside TOM's official roms.]
2b. If not, is there another app that uses SMS for instant messaging?
[I have no data plan, and don't plan on it yet.]
3. What's the [E] at the top of my screen?
[Edge?]
4. How can I add start menu shortcuts?
[Some say just press copy on the file then go to the location and 'paste shortcut' but it's grayed out in the options.]
5. Is Office mobile any good at all?
[Ehh?]
6. I've found a tut to cook roms in another section, but is it phone specific?
[I'm surprised there isn't one stickied.]
I promise, this is the last post of noob questions I'll post haha.
I've read up alot as of late, and this is all I couldn't find solid answers to.

1. t-zones is basically the internet for the phone (not wifi) it connects and does the same as wifi w/o having it on but you will need to pay for unlimited web access from the provider or find a proxy if your too cheaphttp://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Excalibur_WM61tzones
the way t-zones should be set up in wm6.1 start/settings/connections/gprs/
either create a t-zone by selecting menu/add/t-zone
open it up to config
connects to:The Internet
access point: wap.voicestream.com
and dont mess with the others hit done..open PIE then go to menu/tools/options/connections/check the box automatically detect settings/select network- wap network.. and you should be done(i just threw that out there u might already know how to do it)
2a. i don't know never tried it
2b.i'm pretty sure there is u just have to search i remember some later posts saying something about it but dont remember the posts..search use google also b/c theres other forums besides xda like htc has their own forums and etc. http://www.palringo.com/en/gb/
3. do you not have a manuel that came with your phone when you bought it? Displays the network or connectivity status.
4. i'm not a tech support but you can find something about the registry editor that can do this. i'm pretty sure if not shoot me.
5. it's alright.....
6.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396745 tells you how to cook roms for excalibur you should also check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=309 before asking these questions
because theres a bunch of stuff on here that people already asked that shows up in here i take it you never read the wiki for the excalibur before...http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Excalibur
please read this stuff people maybe u won't have to ask and post up aged old questions that already been asked before(NOT TRYING TO BE A PRICK) --found most of this just by using the search forum up above---- or here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php

1. Really, you did not look too hard then, its right on the T-Mo home page, T-zones only supports WAP, basically to purchase ringtones and wallpaper from T-Mo and browse a few sites. T-MobileWeb is replacing T-Zones by the way.
2. Google is your friend, but most IM clients use data not SMS. Oz can be installed, search this forum for the answers. I had it running but use IM+ now instead
3. Yes its Edge, the G is GPRS should you leave an Edge area
4. Get Total Commander, thats the easy way to create start menu shortcuts.
5. The updated Office Mobile is worth it, if you use Windows computer and need to edit / read documents
6. The tut on cooking roms is a good one, and yes it is phone specific for the most part. Again searching this forum will get you the info you need.
Thank you to both of you =D
Everything was answered but the OZ problem. I know it can install, but it does not connect outside TMO's official roms.
Everything else is good tho xD
Thanks.

I think this will be enabled on HTC retail version, but not on T-Mobile version.
Probably ...
PS: To get the manual: Connect you phone to a PC, Mount the SD Card and there you will find the manual

That would make sense as Vodafone in the Netherlands are getting them 14-15th of April.
I think the screenshot in the manual is showing an early version of the desire ROM, but was later removed. The manual doesn't seem to describe it anywhere as a feature.
There's a page on slashgear (search for Desire vs Nexus, I'm a new user so can't provide link) where somebody has left a comment suggesting that voice to text is currently exclusive to the Nexus, hence I think it was there in the desire rom but had to be disabled.

Welcome aboard!
There is a thread about this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=650076 which includes a link to the video you refer to.
I cannot think any single reason why such feature is removed when it was there before.
As I understood, the voice to text is a standard feature of Android 2.1, and not HTC.
How about the past HTC android 2.1 devices such as HTC Legend?
Is it not compatible with the HTC sense UI?
Someone should try this custom HTC keyboard, it has voice-to-text and other enhancements:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
Btw, probably we need to email HTC and/or T-Mobile to have clarification about this once and for all.

I won't be surprised if this feature was disabled in HTC Desire and Legend. One reason comes to my mind is the lack of the extra mic for noise cancellation, as it must help in voice-to-text working properly in certain conditions.
Nevertheless, even if that was the case, I'm sure as soon as Desire roms start cooking, this will be the first thing we'll see.
But I am wondering how clicking on that "voice-to-text/settings" button would work? is it going to be a 2-clicks process to activate? that kind of sux!

Glad to be here! I'll be even gladder when Clove deliver my Sim free handset...
The vid in the link relates to a Nexus phone, so this muddies things a little. However, I've seen other vids from the MWC showing that the keyboard on the Desire did indeed at one point have the mic icon on it.
Some people are speculating that retail/sim only units with have the feature enabled, but I don't think that will happen. As said above, I think it was simply that even though V2T is a standard feature of Android 2.1, it probably wasn't very effective without the noise cancellation hardware.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see just how well the Desire can do this - I've seen some videos of the V2T in action on the Nexus and its quite impressive.
There are pics of an Australian delivered model (Telstra branded) here:
http://news.smarthouse.com.au/images/shared/2010032804133605702.jpg
You can see from the pic that the V2T button is definitely there.

ouch, .. i hope this have nothing to do with the fact that the desire doesnt have that stupid "noise cancellation".
and on the contrary, i would be delighted if the sim free version has it xP

That one is not T-Mobile version, I guess ...
The problem here is with the T-Mobile version, which does not include the voice to text "engine".

Is there any way to fool the phone into believing that it's on a sprint device? I know this is an odd question but here's why - I got someone over on the sprint side to download an apk and I uploaded it to 4Shared:
http://www.4shared.com/file/pvBPY0li/blackboard.html
It's called Blackboard and many universities use it for online classes to post notes and general class info. The only problem is that it's a sprint only app, but the program is not a sprint program and thus the Sprint restriction is pointless and annoying. The app installs and runs, but when I select my school, it says that I'm not on a sprint device and thus it wont go any further...
So, is there any way to trick my phone into believing that it's actually on a sprint network instead of Verizon? What about with the root (of which I got)?

Sprint most likely is paying a fee to have access to the app which is why it is locked to Sprint service by the blackboard company.
Ref:
http://www.sprint.com/landings/blackboard/?ECID=vanity:blackboard
Most likely something that could be hacked to get around it, but I don't think you should be posting a link to it. It shows up in the market place if you are using Sprint as a service.
I provide support for a Blackboard system. They have a dedicated Android app currently in Beta, and you should also be able to use your institution's Blackboard web site in the default Android browser.

Yeah, I've had Blackboard lurking around my Astro app-backup for over a year now. I'm sure they wanna sell it to end users who aren't covered by an institutional license, like they're license it to Sprint.
You could try uploading a sprint prl. Not sure how hard that is on our phones. I activated my vzw bb 8830 on us cellular network no probs but i did have to load prls.

Really, because when I install the sprint navigation it says it is a 14day trial. When I use it on my Sprint Hero, it never asks for anything. It just works.
I wouldn't mind having the blackboard app either. Its okay to navigate on the browser but an app would be cooler.
Part of my job is assisting in administering and supporting a Blackboard system. There's a beta Android client available that's quite good.
If your educational institution is accepted into the beta program, they'll have access to this application and will surely be looking for testers.

i just recently got a tp2 and my carrier is sprint.
what must i do to my phone to get the most out of it? and is there a way to run att's tilt on my tp2?
thank you
Hello and welcome
Fist thing is to read, search and learn.
Now regarding your post...It's a little confusing
You have Sprint, right? CDMA Service
You got a TP2, right? GSM required
You want to turn your TP2 into a Tiltl II? Got me there
i saw att's tilt and the main screen i thought was a lot cleaner, meaning less **** on it. clock and calendar. any way i can customize it so i only have that. i want to be able to see more than 1 event at a time.

There you go...so, you want the Tilt2 screen on your phone?
Have you visited the TP2 section and looked at the custom ROM (the operational system)?
I will advice you to do so. Read "everything" and don't skip a single step.
Go here and read the Noob guide to flashing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=490
After that look at the various programs available for your phone.
Last question....do you have Sprint?
yes i have sprint?
and thank you i will go do that right now.

Try NRG's Co0kie.23XXX or DotComp Deepshinig. By using CHT you'll be able to edit the amount of events.
The look on the ATT Tilt2 is not really specific to ATT. Only thing specific to ATT is the ugly blue theme and wallpaper.
The HTC homepage interface is Sense, and 2.5 is the latest and prettiest. Find a custom ROM you like which includes Sense 2.5 and the Cookie Home Tab (a user made mod), and customize away.
