Edit the registry so you keyboard language will reflect your system language:
Goto the following registry entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal.
The default value of English ROM is 20409, and Chinese ROM is 20404 (both are in hexadecimal).
The suitable value for German Hermes keyboard is 20407 (132103 in decimal).
The suitable value for Spanish Hermes keyboard is 2040a (132106 in decimal).
Probably Hermes use 20+country ID (409=WWE, 407=German, 404=Trad. Chinese, etc...) format for keyboard layout value.
After changing these settings soft reset the device to make it work.
If you are using Cingular device there should be a CAB floating around, use search.

i tried to search...i used the cingular wap settings but didn't find another cingular cab...if you can post it here...it would be greatly appreciated...

I am using Google to find what needed on this site. If you use good search query you will get better results than with integrated search (and usually it is faster too ).

A lot of it may be that we have read a lot of posts and happen to remember which thread it was in, however, I just did a search to see if I could find it.
"Cingular keyboard fix cab" is what I used. It was the third post down. When looking for a file, just click the little paperclip and it will show all the available files in that thread.
Much easier than reading 400 posts.

I downloaded this path but i am not sure what to do with them after extracting them. I am new to upgrading my hermes. I am running Schap's 4.31 rom. I am trying to get my keyboard to operate correctly. I tried a few of the ways above and have failed.

You can use
1) advanced config to set the keyboard language
2) DONT extract the cab, just copy it to your phone, then click on it in file explorer, it will install then.

I entered 40409 in "Decimal" and it worked after a soft reset.
Previously I entered 20409 and it did not.
Edit: I have some buttons which still do not work.
The ' and &.
Frustrating!

HTCustom took care of restoring my keyboard layout.
Thanks to the original coder of HTCustom....

Changing dedication Software Button

Hello guys, I want to open a different program with the contactbutton on my today screen. I did this before with a change in te registry, but I cannot find it anymore in WM6. Can anyone help?

i don't know the registry key (if anyone knows please post) but there is an application called SoftkeyChanger

Google for Schap's Advanced config or soft key applet. Bot can change app assignment for soft keys.

WM6 dialer

How do I get this dialer for my HTC P3300? I recently purchased this phone which came with a wm6 os installed and it has the native smart dialer.
However, i would like to have this dialer.
Please help

Install, before In registry HKLM > Security > Phone > Skin
Change Enabled from 1 to 0
And reboot

Install this editor.

Couple of simple steps
Ok here a couple of simple steps for you.
1. copy the attached Areo_Dialer.cab file to your xda (Its not exactly the same dialler skin as the one you posted but its as close as i could find), tap it from there and it will install.
2 if you dont have a registry editor, use the one tabarda has provided.
once you have installed both (the Areo_Dialer.cab & Registry Editor) open the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE > Security > Phone > Skin > then change Enabled from 1 to 0.
Then do a soft reset and it should now have the dialpad you requested.

NO, no, they are wrong! (just partly...)
There is NO NEED TO INSTALL ANYTHING! The picture in the first post shows the original WM6 dialer that comes built-in, by Microsoft. But you usually cannot see this, because or HTC either the branded versions put their own dialer skin 'above' the original one.
So, the only thing to do: obtain a registry editor (the posted one is OK), navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Security / Phone / Skin' and change the value of 'Enabled' from 1 to 0. Then soft reset and voilá: you will see exactly the same dialer like in the picture.

thats what i thought? i think theres a post on it which i asked the same thing in meschles 2.1 touch rom
but if you want to divert back to the other pad do you just edit to 1 again and soft reset?

i just did this and nohting changed? i have the same dialler that you get with the touch 2.1 wm6 mechle's rom?

thats precisely what I did - changed the registry and thats it, I got my dialer back.

change the setting. WAIT ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS and then soft reset.
The WAIT is hard to explain, but then you can be sure a registry setting keeps changed.

Registry edit help please

I need some help from the experts. Im trying to build a custom rom for sprint users on the diamond. Ive got a good rom but some things Ide like to do I know need to be done in the registry but I cant find the entries. here is a list and if someone know where to make the changes please let me know.
1 turn IR off by default
2 turn off SMS sent message
3 default Keyboard to the diamond keyboard

ASK where is registry key for "Aghost.exe" and "BackgroundTaskHost.exe" ?
