This seems like a stupid question, also to me...
But, I wasn't able to find a solution without installing a thirdy part software with a GUI or using the "lock device with PIN" function.
Is there a way to automatically lock the TP2 (just turning it off with the top button and/or when by itself goes standby) exactly as when I hit for two seconds the "end call/home" hardware button?
Thank you for your help!
We use to be able to auto-lock as recent as the original Touch Diamond with just a simple registry edit.
For whatever reason, we can't do the same for the current generation of devices. That being said, try DeviceLock or SmartLock. They utilize the default WinMo locking mechanism and uses no RAM or CPU cycles.
ohyeahar,
first of all thank you for your very quick reply!
- DeviceLock is this one, two years old, or which else?
- SmartLock is the first one here?
At a first look, it seems SmartLock is full optional!
Thank you!
I use and quite like LockDevice. It's simple and does exactly what I want it to.

Ah, I actually meant LockDevice which is posted above by pistou. And you got the correct SmartLock link.
Fyi, I prefer SmartLock, but both of them really do the same thing...
At the end I tried "SmartLock" and does exactly what I need... and a lot more.
Thank you very much to everybody... and Merry Christmas!

Hi,
I already mentioned this thing along with some other issues in another thread, but here it is again:
"Suggesting words when entering text" (Settings - Input) automatically enables after soft reset, while I have disabled this function just because I don't want the device to suggest words while I'm typing.
A few suggestions like disabling the option, putting the device in standby (screen off), wait for some time and then soft reset unfortunately didn't help.
It doesn't matter what Crossbow version I try, everytime this very option remains the problem.
I didn't hear anyone else about this. Can't believe I'm the only one.
Should I just wait till this is fixed in future releases or is there some smart registry tweak to keep this option from automatic enabling?
I have the same issue. I find it very annoying when something (or someone ) tries to gues what i'm typing. Aspecialy if i'm typing in dutch, and its guessing english words!
Also it forgets selected onscreen keyboard, after soft-reset it will always be standard keyboard.
Same here...
Same here, also with buttonlock, after softreset!

this isn't so much of an issue for me. although i do not use it, it is not much of a distraction too.
I was looking for some sort of a solution of this with no luck, any tips welcome.
Basically what I was looking for was an app or a tweak which would show TASKS on the lock screen (the screen when phone is locked and you have to use for example a slider (Miri rom) to open it) since there is so much empty space and there is no reasonable way to put the tasks on Today screen.
Any ideas and tips very much appreciated.
hmm, i think S2U2 is capable of doing this. it is a free screen locking application.
according to the changelog here:
http://htcwinmobile.blogspot.com/2009/06/acs-s2u2-v201.html
it is capable of doing it, but i've just had a quick look in the applications settings (i have it installed) and can't seem to find the option, but it would be worth a try
S2U2 does show tasks icon the lock screen but it is only a figure(how many tasks are scheduled). If you use the appointments these will show as full descriptions, until completed, and you can have up to 7 appointments over a number of weeks (I think its about 4 weeks).Really good and I have no problems on Duttys Rom 6.5 R11
thanks for the handy pointers, will give it a try.
hmm, so I've tried that and I'm not very impressed. I'm not particularly keen on the whole S2U2, seems a bit cumbersome and overall like an "i" wannabe... there is somewhat the option of displaying the tasks on the lockscreen but as far as I'm concerned there is no way of removing the whole S2U2 interface and keeping just the tasks..which is, ultimately, what I'd want.
Thanks for the tip anyway but don't think this is gonna work.
Can't believe I'm the only one trying to get this sorted(!), it is such a fundamental thing to see tasks frequently without having to access something..even my old N95 did that right.
Anyway, if anyone knew about something, give us a shout.
Cheers
Z.
For years (!) I wanted to have my tasks on todayscreen (and/or on lock screen). I never understood why this was possible only on oldschool-WinMobile-todayscreen WITH special programs (SPB Diary). I believe it's a BASIC feature - and like you I asked myself if really noone needs this?
After getting my new Touch HD I love to have a stylish todayscreen - but I hate not to see appointments/tasks (neither with manila nor winmobile 6.5-today).
So if there is ANY solution: YES I want it too!
I could have probably lived with S2U2 as long as the tasks would be at least showing by themselves rather than you having to press & hold on the icon
...that's like as close it gets to the desired result...future s2u2 update might fix that but again, you have to get the whole app (for locking) to get this small, though very important feature... kinda disappointing...
I`d also like having task on today or lock screen as old non colour Windows CE devices did. Why had disappeared? I don´t know and I can´t understand. I hope somebody can help us.
I want it too please. I would like something like Lockinfo for the iphone.
I sure liked the feature of being able to select, right in the reminder window, a variable snooze time, such as 15 min or 1 day. This was under WM 6.1 on my Tilt. It seems this feature disappeared in WM 6.5. Am I missing something?
I use cRaCKwHoRe's Snooze Options: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3716251&postcount=2280 -- check it out
^ cool. That does not look like a specific Tilt2 cab. Just to clarify you do use this on your Tilt2 with no problems, correct?
Finally got around to using this (after a new ROM install). I am still using a basically stock AT&T ROM on the Tilt2 and this works wonderfully. Back to the same functionality in the regular Tilt.
One step forward and two backwards, thanks Microsoft...
Wow. Sorry I completely ignored your question on 17 November -- I never saw it! Glad to know, however, that all is well now.
The above link and tweak works perfectly on my Tilt 2 with stock ROM.

Same here.
I too can't understand why such a usefull function would be removed from
the new WM6.5???
I installed this cab on my new Tilt 2 but I don't see anywhere to make adjustments or activate the app?? Maybe it won't work on my model? I did a reboot but I still don't see any app listed in Program Files.
Any instructions would be greatly appreciated!!

Really? Uhm, it isn't an app, but a regedit. It simply adds more different choices of snooze times to your alarms.
Hmmm...
I thought I edited this post to let the thread know I now have it working. I am not real familiar with all the ins and outs of the files, cabs, patches, regedits etc here, but indeed I have my sleep timer back!
WooHoo!
What would make someone leave that out of the 6.5?? Makes NO sense to me, but thanks to crackwhore, I'm back in business!!
Thanks again to all and especially XDA team!
You guys ROCK!

Probably the same idiot that took out the Delete All command from the text and e-mail messages options.
Hi everybody,
I was searching for a tool which toggles the radio, i.e. each time it starts it puts the radio on or off, the tool from VJVolubilis (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=255911) would be fine, but it also turns off the data connection, and doesn’t turn it on again, at least it behaves this way on my Acer F900.
The other tool I found has the same problem.
And now my question:
Can some give me a code sample how to switch on/ off the radio, maybe I can make the tool myself.
Please post me truly simple sample, otherwise I won’t understand it
Thanks in advance

Hi depp2web
Install the cab file attached.

Hi andrew,
thanks for your reply, but it has the same problem like the other tools, the data connection stays switched off.

Hi depp2web
I am by no means an expert but I think you might be able to achieve your objective with a Mortscript. There is a Mortscript examples thread so it's worth checking through that. Alternatively, look at the script options and see what you can put together.
Best wishes
andrew-in-woking
Hi Andrew,
I already thought about mortscript, but I would most likely end in a script which starts the comm. manager of the phone and simulates the mouse clicks, rather unsexy…
I’d like to have an “invisible” app, because I use it to switch off the radio while I’m still reading my newsletter in the browser (yes I’m very stingy on my battery), and I really don’t want some other apps to pop up at this time.
Try XroM_Switch with the parameter "phone" to toggle phone
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=639003
Source code of Phone_Switch
Hi, thx for the next tool,
Well from what I see it will work (my cyrillic is really bad *haha*)
But when make a link with the phone parameter, it still shows the form, and no action is done
I modified the link to make it look like this:
38#"\Program Files\Zeugs\XroM_Switch.exe" phone
Any ideas what might be the problem?
Edit:
And thanks for the source code!
Your standalone program (in Phoneswitch.zip)
is exactly the app I was searching for, great job and thanks a lot
Have a nice weekend

Goodnight people ...
I have a question for you:
Because I hate the touchscreen keyboard, I wanted to know if there was a way to prevent it being opened automatically!
Let me explain .. when I write a new text message, a new mail, when I use opera but when I select any text box, it automatically opens the touchscreen keyboard!
can prevent this thing from happening?
I only use the HW keyboard ... and would prevent the automatic opening of the touchscreen keyboard!
I dug into the registry, more precisely here:
[HKLM \ Software \ Tegic \ eT9]
and all subfolders below ... I could not find anything about it!
How can I do?
Thanx!!!
Try this:
Code:
[I]HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\TurnOffAutoDeploy[/I] = 1
[I]HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange[/I] = 0
[I]HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Disable Auto SIP[/I] =1 (Note the space in "Internet Explorer"; there's a different directory without the space)
I found these online, so I don't know if they'll work.
Actually, I think only the second tweak ('AllowChange') is necessary. I remember trying it before. You have to know, however, that it will (should) completely disable the virtual keyboard; you can only launch the SIP by changing the value back to '1'.
yeah i used to turn it off with a tweak program. turning off auto works most places but not in opera. however later builds of opera wont show the onscreen keyboard if the physical is kicked out.
thanks for explanation ... really helpful, but my intention was not to completely disable the keypad, but only prevent it opened automatically!
I don't like the on-screen keyboard popping up all the time either. So I took an interest in this thread. I found that of the suggested registry changes mentioned above, the oly one I needed to impliment was this one:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\TurnOffAutoDeploy = 1
This seems to keep the on-screen keyboard from popping up on its own, but still allows me to access the keyboard when I need it.
Hopes this is helpful...

Whoops! Well, you did say in your first post, "I only use the HW keyboard." Sorry about that.
Maybe you should try ScratchyPDX's route:

It's strange, however, that I have that same exact reg tweak, but my virtual keyboard still pops up on its own (using the ROM in my sig).
I guess, in this situation, YMMV!

I tried one of the tweaks I listed a few months ago. I think the "AllowChange" tweak disables the launch (auto and manual) of the virtual keyboard.
I remember helping someone on an EnergyROM thread about this same topic. He wanted to completely disable the virtual keyboard, so he was happy with the tweak.

With this tweak [HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange = 0]!!! the problem is solved, because the touch pad is completly powered off!!!
The only one problem, is the impossibility of opening the touch pad when I want without remod this register key and make a SR!!!

You could just add a DWORD for the "TurnOffAutoDeploy" key. That should suffice.
You're welcome for the tweak, but I understand the problem of having to remod the registry and soft reset when you need it. Maybe you could push for an app that can "switch" the registry key for you without a soft reset?

You're right... I never thought to create the DWORD!
I try now... and then I post the result!
PS: I can create an app that modifies the registry to enable and disable the touchpad, but I think it is impossible to avoid the SR, because without it, the touchpad still does not work even after I edit the registry, because this type of change requires necessarily an SR to become effective.
I've tried to add manually the DWORD "TurnOffAutoDeploy=1", but the problem isn't solved!!!
PS: I can create 2 different CAB... 1 for "Powering ON" and 1 for "Powering Off" the Touchpad... because i'm not a programmer, and i haven't the necessary competence to create an application in c++!
The only one problem, is that i don't know how to avoid the SR necessary to make active the change!
If I find a way to solve the SR problem, i have solved my touchpad problem!

You can try Mobilnaut SYM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459253).
When Mobilnaut SYM is activated, the SIP does not pop up when the keyboard is open.
for my it work with the "Deploy" reg kack. the "allow" one killed it all toghether. I't wouldn't apear, even if i click it.
I have a diferente problem now. I'm Portuguese, I need special char "ç" a lot. my harware keyboard doesn't have that. so I have to pop up the SIP every time just for that one.
Can someaone develop a small app i can link to a hardware button, that all it does is type "ç"?
Thank you!
