So I can not find a way to save my mms received files and pictures, is there some trick to this?
Thanks,
Jeff
ya i had trouble figuring it myself.
you cant save it in the sense menu.
you have to be in the winmo message system, just simply tap the icon that looks like a multimedia icon then itl open you should be able to save using menu options.

When I open the attachment via wimo interface, it all I get is reply, forward, view test and show,
From these, there is no option to save.
Granted, I am using a kick ass Rom from NRGZ28, the October 28 version of his Rom, but I should still be able to do this, I think I have done it on the past a few roms back perhaps.
Thanks,
Jeff
you have to hit the Contents softkey while viewing the message in winmo messaging, it will show the contents of the message including picture, text, and any audio. just hold on the item you want to save and choose save from the menu.

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody could point me to the relevant registry entries for the mail settings for Windows Live Mobile.
I'm trying to get messages to get synchronised fully (overcoming the max default of 5000) and also for the attachments and pictures in Html mails to be downloaded automatically.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Elsral
I would love to know how to change that also if you find out how...
another question - after setting up windows live mail with my hotmail account I deleted it and can not figure out how to add it again...any help would be much appreciated.
Just found the answer to this question.............
Do this..............
Go to Windows Live inbox
click menu (bottom right corner)
Click 'tools'
Click 'manage folders'
From here you can select which folders to synchronise
If you tap and hold on each folder you can then select 'folder options'
then in the drop down box you can select 'get full copy of message' and also 'only display messages from the last X days'
Do this for any folder you want to synchronise and you're good to go
When you go back to these options at a later time it would appear that the settings you chose arent sticking, this is infact misleading as all it is doing is putting the options back to default by appearance, but clicking 'ok' after setting each folder does infact stick the setting.
Hope this is useful to you guys, first time i actually get to help someone out for once, learnt so much from these forums, keep up the good work ppl,
Neil.

Think this might also help out with that too, simply tick the inbox folder.....not sure as i havent tried it myself, good luck,
Neil.
Thanks for the tip,
What about automatically downloading picture links?
thanks again,
Elsral
First of all I am using manila 2.5. When you slide to contacts a button appears saying "all people". When clicking on this button you abviously open the contacts manager, but it is the old (or windows) manager. The new contacts manager however is not only nicer, but gives you all the options back to send mails from a contact card even if you have installed the SMS patch. Because of the SMS patch you don't have this option any more in the old contacts manager.
My question now is how can I make sure that the "all people" button opens the new contacts manager?
Thanks in advance

What SMS patch are you using? I used this one here, and it did not affect my contacts list. Make sure you follow all 4 of the manual steps described in that post (not just step 3). If you tried something else, then uninstall it, soft-reset and try my link.

Hi Chris,
I am using this patch and BTW the cab file 1.2 does everything what the manual settings do, but you can't click in a contact card to send a SMS, mails work, not SMS. I have discuseed this already with the author and he knows that it doesn't work.
Anyway, this is not a solution for my qustion. The new manila 2.5.1920xx has a great new contacts manager and I want to use it everywhere I can, because it is not affected by zenyee's SMS patch, it looks nicer. But apaart from making a shortcut I don't see how I can use it as a softkey in in the home screen or in the contacts (people) tab.

I'm confused about what you wrote (the bold part I highlighted). What do you mean it is "not" affected? I thought you said it is affected - i.e. the "send message" part of a contact card doesn't work. Am I just totally misunderstanding you?
In any case, you can change the left softkey in the home tab to open the Manila contacts list instead of it bringing up the phone pad. All it is is registry entries that need to be changed. But, if you have the sms patch installed, I assume you'll continue to have the same problem.
Let me know if you want to change the left softkey in the home tab anyway. I made a cab for it so that I wouldn't have to manually make all the changes every time I hard reset my phone to factory defaults.
EDIT:
Here is the cab that will make those registry changes for you.
This is the ALL PEOPLE Reg Value, restore it using any Registry editor

Let me explain what I mean using the two screen shots: one from the classic contacts manager, the other from the HTC contacts manager. If you apply the SMS patch and open a contact and click on "send message", nothing will happen. If you use the other contacts manager, you can open a contact and click on send message and it will open the windows messaging service.
Look at the answer from zenkinz, see [Tweak/App] Disabling HTC Messaging in manila 2.5 (version 1.2 Updated on 29th Sep), page 17
zenkinz said:
yes the send message from the contact will not work. It's due to a service I've disabled, and if I don't disable it, you'll not be able to send the SMS from the winmo app, so it's a catch 22 situation. I'm trying to work on a fix for that, but it's going to be tough.

Now what I was looking for is to replace the contacts manager in the contacts (people) tab. If you click now on "all people" it will open the "old" windows contacts manager, I would like that the new and better (and nicer) contacts manager would be opened.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion, but I don't want to replace the left soft key on the home screen.

Okay, so you want to keep the sms patch installed, but you want the "all people" softkey in the contacts tab to open the new Manila contacts list? And how do you then plan to open the WM contact list so that you can use the "send message" option in a contact? Do you plan on having a home tab quick link to WM contacts? I guess that would work.
I don't know where the settings are to the left softkey of the contacts tab and I don't know if that particular option is available in the registry just like it is for the home tab softkeys. I also looked into adding a quick link in the home tab, but I can't get it to open the manila contacts (only the WM contacts).
Sooo.... I think I'm out of ideas. Maybe you'll consider changing the left softkey in the home tab as you mentioned at the end of your second post (that's why I mentioned it as an option in the first place ). I don't know what you currently have set for that, but if it is still the "phone" then you can always access that by using a hardware key on the HD. Or maybe you have something in that softkey that you can place in a quick link instead.
Stock ATT phone, running 4.0.4
I need to get the MMS photos, as we have a baby and tons of pics have been received.
I can only save the most recent picture in a thread to the galary, if i go back to previous pictures in a thread and hit "menu" i only get the "set picture as" option.
Ideally i was hoping it was just a directory i could grab.
I have installed and ran SMS Backup and Restore, but does that grab the pics?
Thanks

I have always used SMS backup. I back up my text before a reflash and them import them back after. I just went through a few of my text threads and photos are still there. For me..if I long press on the pic I can save it. Im not sure how far back pics are can be saved.
If you wanna be extra safe, just copy the folder containing the pics on your pc.

SMS backup didn't get pics.
The pictures in the SMS messages are not in the camera or picture folder.
Also, does anyone know where in the file system the home screen pic is?
Any more ideas? Thanks again.

You can click the pics and save them to your SD.
Your wallpaper should be stored within your launcher (some launcher do, some don't) so a backup could get it. If that's not what you mean, then I'm not sure I understand your 2nd question.

Only the most recent picture in a SMS thread with a person can be saved. If i scroll up in the conversation to a previous picture, i only get the "set to home screen" option.
Again completely stock SIII.
I'm moving to a note II and was hoping to get this stuff off. Do you know where the stock launcher would store the picture that is set to backround?
Thanks again

I don't, sorry. The stock launcher is TW (Touchwiz). But I dunno if (or where) it stores the pictures. I'll keep looking into it though. Count this as a thread bump.
Often I'll come across a pic while browsing the web that I want to text to someone. I know I can download the pic to phone and then send it as an mms but I'm looking for an option that would allow me to long press the image and have an option to "send as mms" or something like that. I just want to avoid the download process because I don't want the images to remain on my phone and it would be much easier if there was a one click solution, any ideas?

You'd have to find a browser with the option to share when long pressing an image. Alternately you could just download the image then open it from notifications and share to MMS which takes like 4 clicks.
If do a search and find a picture I want, then long-press it, and click "Download image", it downloads successfully but I can't find it anywhere with Solid Explorer or Google Photo. That said, if I go to the "Files" application it is right there when I open the application and the info bar at the top of the screen says "Downloads" and there is also a "docs" folder and all the other pictures I have done this with in the past.
I often do this to share them to Facebook or in a chat, but in order to use them I have to search and download, open Files, and use that to move it to Pictures or some other folder I know where it is, and then go back to the application and use it to upload the file by it opening Photo (the Gallery app).
Where are these downloads going that Solid Explorer or Photo can't find them?
BTW, I am not rooted.
Go into Google Photos, select the hamburger menu on the upper left, and choose device folders. You should be able to see from there where your pictures were dropped. If you open the folder, there's a toggle switch to sync it with Google Photos.

Yeah, I understand completely... But the folder isn't there.
I've had this exact same issue. I've resorted to taking a screen shot and cropping it.

I looked for fun and when I clicked the download notification and opened it in Google Photos it says it's in the folder /documents which doesn't exist ?
Anyway to save the photo I just clicked the share button in Google Photos and shared it to Solid Explorer and chose a location to save it.
