Caller ID For Text Messages/Emails - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hey
Does anybody know if there is a windows mobile 6.1 application that can display a contacts picture when you receive a SMS message or email?
I know there are hundreds for when you receive calls but i'm specifically looking for one that works with SMS and emails.
Can anybody help?
I have a Samsung Omnia i900 (WQVGA) if that will help
Any solutions will be greatly appreciated

try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328363

Thanks
I Guess this is what i asked for but its not exactly what i want
i should have made myself clearer
it does show caller ID for texts but its in the boring old WinMo notification box
im looking for something a bit more customised
kinda like the 3rd party call managers (PhoneEx, S2U2 etc)
it would be great if there is an app that can show a fullscreen (large) picture of the contact with the option to read the text/email or to dismiss/mark as read etc
Is this possible?
Thanks

ETEN M600 Call filtering

I installed the ETEN Dialer on my Dopod 838 and it workd beautifully
I was wondering if anyone out there also extracted the ETEN's call filtering app (and/or its profiles app.)
Thanks in advance,
Arnon
I'm still looking for an application to filter incoming calls.
I'm not totally satisfied with "Smartfilter" of "Call SMS Blocker", therefore I would appreciate, if it would be possible to publish a short description of the m600 application.

I couldn't get Smartfilter to work and I didn't try SMS Blocker.
Anyway - you can see a screen capture of the ETEN's blocker here

Smilies in a sms using a TyTN with WM6

I hope some can tell my if it is possible to use smilies in a sms both when i am writing one but also when I receive one... does such software exist
yes there is a software that does this that comes with the imate roms... i believe its called xsms or something like that.
It also allows you to send Handwritten sms, and everytime you recieve a smiley sms it whistles...
anyone with an imate rom loaded care to share the name? I'm in the process of flashing to elf v2 and haven't used an imate rom since like 2 weeks after i got my jasjam
This would be a cool little addition! Please share.
The Palm SMS Threader CAB makes all your text messages come to you in a threaded form, like an IM chat, complete with smilies and the ability to add pics and sound clips. Check it out and see if it's something you'd like.

Text Message- TO: Smart Dial Missing

Hi
Recently upgraded my XDA Orbit to WM6 using one of the ROMs from TUPISDIN ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314675 )and all is well apart from an annoying missing feature:
When creating a new SMS and typing in the name of the recipient, previously it used to suggest names from my contacts after 2 characters & more. This now does not do this and I have to select to add a recipient! Is this just mine or does this happen on all WM6 installs?
My smart dialing works fine so it really is just SMS.
Hope someone can suggest ideas as this is a small but irritating feature

Hi there DMan, well the answer you are looking for is within keyboard options you have changed you "suggest word(s) after * letters" increased to more than 3, ruduce this option back to 2 and contacts will display again when typing in the recipient.
Errr...... OK, I am DMan, I found the answer after playing around for quite a while, then couldnt see how to delete this thread! Sad I know but at least I have helped someone, even if it is me

WM6.1 Threaded txt

For those of you who are playing with WM6.1 have you been messing with the threaded txt? I have used the troe version for so long I admit I miss some stuff.
Mainly the new threaded app doesnt tell me how many characters I have typed so I don't know when I have went over the 160 limit.. I have also noticed that sms backup doesn't seem to work correctly it backs up my txt messages and when I restore them they r missing and not threaded.
Another thing I like about threo threaded is MMS/SMS are all together instead of seperate..
Last thing is the txt don't have dates next to them. They have time but no dates. I like to scroll back and know what day and time something was txt to me.
Anyone else got any complaints?
Maybe some of these things can be corrected with a addon or something.
you can see how many characters at the upper corner.
I two think PALM did a better job.
I agree
Me myself being a Treo 650 owner and a hacked threaded sms user on my 8525 would have to agree the WinMo 6.1 threaded sms falls short.
No smilies
There is a short delay when sending msgs
No timestamp(with dates)
When restoring from PIM backup msgs are missing/ out of order....I can only see the msgs I've sent not the msgs I've received.
This may sound like a little nit-pickery going on but hell M$ has had a lot of time to get this minor detail right....

You can't be too surprised that MS half-assed this as they have half-assed every other Windows Mobile product for the last 5 years. MS doesn't care about Windows Mobile. Sad, but true.
I'm already messin with the ripped treo app again since it combines MMS/SMS together but the HTC Home Plugin shortcuts don't work after I install it..
Something simple so I'm gonna try another version of the htc today plugin and hope that it works..

I have a Wizard, but I think this will help you anyway.. You have to create a shortcut to \Windows\messagingapp.exe. I think currently, the HTC shortcuts (and even the button for me) was set to messaging.exe. After you create the shortcut for it and add it to your start menu, you should be able to map it to the button.

SMS for TP2. Implementation and new ideas.

Sms functionality is very limited on TP2. Should we install some 3rd party program like Vito or implement our own?
Anyone? lets talk about it
limited? what's so limited aboot it?
i think the sms/MMS is klunky to use. but this is coming from a smartphone user. im a noob to the ppc world

Be more specific. What is klunky.
I will tell you what limited, in regular prog you cant delete individual msg, you dont see how many symbols you type and etc. SMS SUCKS at TP2.

cant delete individual msg? Turn off Threading (try reading the Tips and Tweaks thread)
Dont know how many symbols?? mine counts fine, ^ counts as 2 characters.. hmm.. IF by "regular prog" you mean in the TF3D reply window, then yah that doesnt have a counter.
Why do you need it to count text for?? If you need to type any more than 160chars, it will be sent as 2 messages.
anything else that you wanna consider as SUCK?
is this your first WinMo phone?
I personally don't like the TF3D SMS interface so I use good ol WM interface when I have a threaded message open. It shows in the taskbar how many characters you've typed & if you want to delete an individual message you just use the arrow keys & move to thw one you want to delete & choose the option in the menu.
Very oftently you dont see sent msg in TF3D, but you can see them in wm msg. IT sucks and very slow.
I have a deep and unabiding hatred for the TF3D SMS application, and I hope someone figures out a way to make clicking a message in TF3D go directly to the WM SMS app at some point.
anyone can resolve this issue?
i have an issue with hitting back (used to it being send) and i hate the send button because for me it is very laggy usually .. when i need to fire off a bunch of messages real quick the system almost freezes up ... not very productive and alot of times i cant tell if its sent or not because it takes to long to load my reply on the thread..
touch pro 2 sucks, most sluggish phone i ever worked with, i think i will sell it.
