Howdy, whenever I try and log into MSN I get an error " Checking internet connection." and then "Synchronisation failed."
When I was on the stock 6.1 I had no trouble logging in. Also, if I install 'Live' I am then able to log in using the later version.
My problem is that Live insists on installing a Live mail button in my email accounts list, and I don't want it there. Trying to delete it just gives a popup saying it has to be deleted using 'add/remove' which obviously then removes all of Live so I am back to square one.
So I want to get my stock 6.5 MSN working, or find a way of installing a later MSN (from Live maybe ?) but without all the bloat that comes with it.
I am on T-mobile in the UK, but using an unlocked/unbranded handset.
Thanks folks.

I think I have changed some settings which I shouldn’t have. I can still connect to the internet using gprs but I have lost connectivity to msn messenger. I have also installed msn mobile and I can not get my hotmail account to work.
Any ideas with the settings as I have long deleted the original ones (work and internet) im thinking that I should put these back on.
Oh and I can not delete the new connections I have made
i have now deleted all connections apart from 2. im unable to delete these so im thinking that these were originally "work" and "the internet" when i have tried to change the names back to the internet and work i get an error message” a connection already has this name". but work or the internet are no where to be found
maybe you could try a full connections reset, by going into the o2active interface, then on the tools icon under the news icon, click that and tap connections, this should bring you to the setup screen, select what you would select, and then try that, if this problem sstarted after installing msn mobile, uninstall it and see if that helps, also do you have the latest messenger update from microsoft website?
it seems that the problem is with my pay and go sim. although i can browse the web it doesn't like 3rd party programs.
i have just put my contract sim in and it works a treat.
so if anyone knows a fix for a pay and go sim that would be great.
I had the same problem today. It seems there was a problem somewhere. All is working now. We will see what happens tomorrow.

So, today I have been playing with MSN Messenger Live on the my 8525. However, I have been having issues talking to older MSN Messengers [say around 4.7 or so]. I was testing it chatting to my PC and to my Wifes PC, once I updated both to 7.5 all issues seem to go away [for my PC and my wifes PC].
The odd thing is that Live on the PDA see the users perfectly well, even when their status changes. Also, the issue goes both ways - the older MSN can not sent text nor can the PDA send text to the older MSN. You get a error like: "Unable to Start a conversation with *user*, the following message could not be sent".
Anyone else having this issue?
no but im having other problems. on my 8525 when ever i use the today screen plug in to try to get back in to messenger it opens a new messenger and bugs out on me i have to restart before i can sign back in. get any of that?
@odie3:
I've had that a couple of times, I simply signout and sign in again.
@fb.knight:
Take a look at the other threads, there are more stable cabs (not necessarily newer) floating out there.
I've installed bepe's WWE WM6 ROM for a while now. I'm have a lot of troubles with the pre-installed live messenger. I can't change my name, can't change screen image, the program freezes when i try to log in, online users are shown as offline, my email doesn't arrive (with push email), in short: looks like a crappy program to me. But i don't hear much complaints in the forum here. Are some of you experiencing this problems also with B&B ROM?
Btw: i've tried all basic advices: turning shared screen-image in the desktop messenger, clearing the password, switching users...no results...
Hi,
Some people seem to suggest this comes from an incompatibility issue between the thumbnail (user image) format on Windows and Windows Mobile. I'm however not so sure about this. I've bumbed into this issue several times and the only way to work around is by switching 'accounts' and just logging in to the same account again after picking this option.
The problem happens on all WM6 ROMs I tried so don't even bother trying different versions, unless perhaps an official WWE ROM is released.
Grtzzzzz Roel..

i seem to have found a solution
I have a dutch version of Live Messenger installed on my computer, (because i come from holland ), so i can't give you the exact option names. But i'll try to explain:
In Live Messenger (on your desktop) there are two options:
- showing screen image to other users (your msn contacts)
- keeping screen image and personal message always the same, wherever you login
the last option seems to do the trick: put it OFF on your desktop Messenger. Now i can sync, change nickname, screen image, personal message and see all online users on my P3300!
EDIT:
CRAP! Yesterday no troubles, now i'm not able to see any online users this program is driving me mad! I ll wait for a newer version before wasting any time on it...good job microsoft
i have tried several versions of Messenger, none of which work properly. looked though other forums, none had an answer, that i could see. i have been using Shapesoft IM+, it works, but nowhere near as nice as Messenger used too.
I hope the new HTC ROM will bring the solution...
I have been running the duttyfix windows live messenger on a kaiser for a few weeks without problem on the standard orange ROM with some additional cabs installed.
However since yesterday messenger has repeatedly failed to sign in with the error message "there is a problem with this server, please try again later"
I have tried to reinstall the cab after removing the original and have made no other ammendments software wise. I wondered if this was something that other people were experiencing currently? internet access on wifi and 3g is fine and i have no other handsets in this location to do a test with a different unit.
If anyone can post comment its appreciated. thanks
Update .. have installed the old CAB for pocket PC and this is working fine .. letting me access messenger with no problems but without the obvious add ons of messenger live.
Just making me even more puzzled now lol. Has anyone contact microsoft over this and if so have they had any suggestions?
