sms ringtone - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Is there a way to have different ringtone for different peoples sms messages?

BUMB would like to know also
and i cant make custom tones for my SMS

Same here

so far the only way I have done it is to rename the sound I want to one of the default sounds name (ex. Alert-High) and over write it in windows folder.
I thought there was a registry add to add custom sounds to the list but I cant find it.
This doesn't allow custom sounds for different people but it allows A custom sound for SMS/MMS

Try Qorefunctions
they make a program called InBox Tones that is supposed to do the trick.
I used in on my Fuze but it kept crashing or hanging, probably overwhelming the system resources. I'm optimistic it will do much better on the Tilt 2 but haven't gotten around to checking it out yet
Good luck!

try the Ringo Mobile
http://ringomo.com/windows.php
I use this program a lot of years and it is working perfectly (some time I have to delete the file /My Documents/ringo.log because increases very much!)

yeah i had this same problem. i ended up moving the sound file to windows/rings. it wont read them from "my ringtones"

Having a few issues with my HTC S261 - EnergyROM

first things first, i bought this phone through tigerdirect and it came unlocked with WM5.. i installed the EnergyROM and love the looks and functionality of it. I ran into a few problems.... im not the type to develop things on my own, but if there are written directions i would be able to follow it.
1. Phone always says that there is too much memory being used and i should try closing programs before opening other ones. But its weird bc nothing will be open, and i try and open the camera and it says memory is full. is it just a bug or is there a way to fix this?
2. Im trying to use .wav audio files as my text, e-mail, and alarm notifications. except when i add the .wav files to the my ringtones folder, they only show up in the ring tone section and not any others.
3. On the main screen of WM6.1 with the sliding panels, is there a way to get my SMS, MMS, Outlook and other e-mail accounts on the same tab? im tired of scrolling down, i would rather see it go to the right or left.
4. some keyboard functions dont match up when using the FN key (!,&,%,$) the only one that works is the question mark. is there a file i could install over the old one, or something i can do to fix it?
any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. thanx
No need to make new thread post in the thread of topic NRG ROM thread....

Where are the ringtones/alerts?

Alright go easy on me guys. I searched the rhodium forums and all the results pretty much showed me to all the various rom's that are available, i guess the word ringtone, alerts or w.e must be in each one.
is there any packages out there somewhere for some custom ringtones? I want a bigger selection than whats available on my phone now. Any ideas?
You can use whatever mp3 file you want. Just put it in the "application data\sounds\" directory and you'll be able to select them.
I personally just cut out a part of a song to use as a ringtone and then use movie/tv quotes as SMS and email notifications.

[ringtones] lame question, you could save me time

i have RUU 2.2 on my Incredible. -- it only contained 1 Ringtone (Verizon Default).
my energy is focused towards projects for Cisco VPN and remote server support.
your 1 or 2 sentence reply can save me much time. -- thanks in advance.
where do i add custom audio files so i can quit using this awful ringtone?
system/media/audio
Thanks again!
The audio folder was totally empty. So I took the sub folders from cm6..
I find it interesting that there is a default ringtone if these folders disappear. I could never find the location of the default ringtone named "Verizon Default".
Well I have a similer problem but when I load files into the system/media/ringtones on the Incredilbe-4.06.605.2-Gingerbread-2.3.4-RLS2-Rooted-Signed they wont show. Also the ringtones that show up in my settings ringtones is in that folder so where whould they be.
I have spent hours trying to find them with no luck.

[Q] Notification Tones ?

Hi There, I've just bought a Defy and so far I love the phone. I'm new to android having previously owned a Samsung i8910 with CFW. I've rooted the Defy.
Is there a way to change the notification tone and to add a tone of my own? I've changed the ringtone to a personal one but I can only choose pre set tones for messages but I'd rather add my own. I'm using 2.51.1 Retail GB firmware
Is there any way of doing this????

There's no need at all to install an app - in fact you'd be better off not doing so, they tend just to screw things up.
All you need is a folder on your memory card - /media/audio/notifications
Anything you put in there should appear in the list of notification tones, provided the file is a supported format.
If you've installed the Facebook app, you'll already have that folder on your memory card as it creates it so it can add the 'Facebook pop' tone.
Great, thank you both for your advice. I've now added my own tone. This is a great modding community!

I agree, but probably not this particular app.

Android ability to manage ringtones sucks, just because it allows you to use ringtones from SDcard but the sdcard have to be mounted by the phone, and many times thats not the case. and the phone will just play a "Error Tone". And you can't rely on it, because it makes not just ringtones or notifications but also alarms fail.
Best is always to move them to /system/media/audio/ringtones, or find a way to save and use ringtones in /data partition, which is always mounted

Question on custom ringers

Hello,
I'm still new to Android.
1. Can you tell me how to load a custom ringtone on this phone?
2. On my old WM phone I could set it to Vibrate 1st then ring so I could reach for my phone before it made noise (and disturb others) if I felt it vibrate. Is there any way to make this happen?

Look for an app called Ringdroid. You can trim and make any music on your phone a ringtone or notification...real easy to do.

Thanks - if i already have a ringtone (wav file for WM) I can't just load that to a directory on the phone?
I have a couple cool ringtones I've accumulated over the years that I'd like to get into my phone... They are mp3 format and I'm sorta lost as to how to load them in also.
Dont need any editing etc; just need to know how to make them show up in the ringtone list!
Its easier if you already have a ringtone that doesn't need editing to still use Ringdroid. Just open it up in the app and just save it like it is.

If its on your computer load it on your phone through Kies air. If you dont know what Kies is open the app on your phone and it will tell you what to type on your desktop. I think you'll get once you see
On the root of your SD card, create a folder called media, then create a folder inside that called audio. Inside the audio folder, you can create "alarms" "ringtones" and "notifications" folders. Then put whatever audio files you'd like in these respective folders. Reboot and the sounds should show up in the default selection list. Mine are all in mp3 format, I don't know if it would recognize wav files or not.

Thanks. I did as you said - didn't even have to reboot the phone.
Perfect!
Right on! Glad it works.
This is the first question I had when I got my Hero running Android 1.5, glad to hear it has persisted to gingerbread.

Any way to set it to vibrate first then ring? Basically I'd like the first ring to be a vibrate instead and then go to ring. It was handy on my old Vogue. I could leave it on ring but if I felt the vibration I could use my BT before people were annoyed by my ringer. It made sure I was covered in case I didn't feel the vibrate but it also made it more polite for people around me.

No setting that I'm aware of. To hack it you could create a ringtone that is silence for 5 or 10 or 3 secods at the beginning, then comes in with sound. Kind of a pain and would work only for that specific ringtone, but it would work.
