[APP/game] XTRAKT, super smooth 3d action racer.

Hey guys,
Just reposting this as a start of the themes and apps for X1 .
Now who was it that insisted that Xperia lacked a 3D chip? Thanks to itje for basing his latest Custom ROM on the leaked R3AA ROM and seperately providing CABs to some of the goodies available in the new ROM version, you can get your hands on ‘Xtrakt’ - a new 3D game by Sony Ericsson – right now! The game has really great graphics and runs quite smoothly on the device. Though it warns not to run any other applications when playing the game, it ran just fine with SPB Screenshot running besides it.
Best controlled with a stylus, you control the main character of the game on a future motorcycle destroying monsters. Doesn’t sound too appealing, i know, but the game is actually good! Better than many games that i’ve played on my iPhone and opens the door to better gaming on Windows Mobile. (True that an accelerometer would have been quite handy in handling the bike, but stylus/finger control of the bike sits well with the game).
To download head on here. You do not need to flash to the custom ROM to play this game. However, there definitely might be better graphics drivers in the R3AA ROM than the R2 or R1 ROMs.

One visit to the toilet and I already made it to level 4! I was really surprised with how good it looks and runs!!! (the game, that is.... ;-)

Could it be run with the stock X1 ROM? I don't want to flash any ROMs at all (I bought X1 for my fem and she's really short tempered)

No need to double post it! (I know you probally just hit the submit reply button 2x on accident ).
Stock rom should run just as good as a custom one. It uses hardware acceleration with OpenGL drivers that are already on the phone so.

same problem here, says installation unsuccessful straight away. bah.

Works great here, I'm using Generic_SE R2A rom.

Install to phone, not to storage card

i did........

doesn't even let me get as far as to ask. i've tried installing it *from* both storage card and main memory, but it instantly says unsuccessful.
might be due to VF hackery.
ah well, i'll just wait til it actually get released.

Im using the Vodafone Dutch R2A ROM. Love the game and it runs super smooth

Working now. I think perhaps that I didn't have enough room in my memory so it failed. Excellent graphics and game play, 10 levels! Very impressive to show people, certainly throws a punch against the iPhone!

REALLY fast, can find Twidroid free(not the pro) so not all apps are working(i think)
but it's a lot better then the Sense...

yeah all works, can find a lot of programs(i have 2 apps now that i can't find, taskiller FULL and Twidroid Pro, but free editions of those are available)

are gone, it's a AOSP, that is without HTC stuff!!!
so NON Sense, no htc keyboard, no .............................

Absolutely fantastic. This is the fastest user interface I have ever experienced on any of my phones ever. Including my iphone 3G.
I now have almost everything I need in this ROM and I don't think I will try any other ROM until HTC releases their ROM. I might not even try that. I love vanilla Eclair (with sugar on top).
The only thing that annoys me is that my Exchange calendar still not synchronizes. Wonder why? But I can fix this via the Market. Not for free, though. :/
And, theres the issue with the camera. I guess that will be fixed pretty soon, though.

I have tested a bit, so its really damn fast . Camera not working like said in the topic, the Youtube apps seems non working too. If someone can confirm too.

Edit: About the youtube app, the application laucnh correctly but when i try to play an video the screen is black.

confirm, i hear the sound, but the screen is only black....

Video playback is unusable. Trying to play .mp4's from my sd card with meridian and it lags so badly that it is unusable.
The youtube application works, but I only get a black screen when I start playing a video.

Yes, I can confirm. You could add Meridian player for your videos.
Great work BTW dev. I like the cleaness and simplicity of this ROM, its also quite quick.
Also voice search is non usable

Is it just me experiencing lag while swiping between homescreens?

ismaskin, I'm experiencing that lag too.
Also, isn't this the Moto Droid one? I like the AOSP 2.0 better, but I guess the sync problems killed that for me. Any way to get the sync to work on 2.0 now that its working on this? Somehow strip from this and attach to that?

it's silky smoothe for me, have you tried a reboot?

Hmm its maybe (like in lox rom) an missing driver for the GPU part of the MSM CPU ?

will give this a blast tomorrow when I've got time...... Its great to see another plain rom for our hero! Well done to everyone involved!

Its an "updated" version of the original Xtrakt - new menu's etc with what seems like an improved game-play. If you have multitouch as on the HD2 you can dissable accelerometer in the settings and steer and fire at the same time using the screen....

i could not steer on my tp... so idk whats the problem. its not the good of a game for the tp either because some of the screen gets cut off

Multitouch is not working (I have disabled the accelerometer)...tested on HD2...

Much smoother than better, thanks! But it doesn't install to Storage Card.
(after installing, you can move it to memory card and it still plays just as smooth. no worries)

[Q] Performance of Emulators

Moderators please move this thread if it is in the inappropriate place . I couldn't decide where it should be so I decided to put in general just to be safe.
As the topics suggests I would like to know the performance of various emulators for Android such as PSX4droid, NDS4droid, Tigerlabs, gba4droid etc. on the Samsung Galaxy SII. If anyone has tried any type of emulator made for android please post your opinions and evaluations below regarding its perfomance, quality, FPSetc below.

FPSE (psx emulator) - Full Speed with sound. Played Crash bandicoot, and final fantasy 9

n64oid - no lag in mario kart, ocarina of time, golden eye (sound lags at loading sometimes but i think it's a defect in the emulator)

Great! Btw though was the sopund glitchy?

None of my friends were able to get nds4droid working.... Maybe its still doesn't support the sg2

Turn on the SPU sound thing and its alot better.
It does do the odd glitch in the sound but it still seems really good.

Havent played many roms but the follwoing emus seem to be working without issue on the roms I have tried:
FPSe
SNESoid
GameBoid

Hmm ocarina of time lagged for me, but Mariocart and supermario was fine.

Its not on the market anymore.
But if you search google for n64oid , you will prob find an apk and then stick that on your phones storage and install.
I dont have it so i don't know where to find it, but if you google you will definatly find it.

btw has anyone tried the sega emulator that went out of development a few months ago on the sg2? How is the emulation on that?

Try use FPSe emulator, it's much better than Psx4Doid. Here are some videos showing how FPSe works on SGSII .

PSX4droid isn't compatible with the SGS2, and some other high-end advices. Doesn't work with the Optimus 2x either. You can keep an eye on his site (http://www.zodttd.com/) and wait for the update he's "making."

I can confirm that fpse works great on s2.. As of now I have played ff7,metal gear ,metal slug, resident evil2 and mortal kombat 3.. no lags at all ^^

fpse works PXDroid Sucks!
