I read, it is posible (it make in dream), and i think, we can port this too.
that do you think?
salu2. Mc.
i don't see the advantage of doing this, but i actually think it should work. maybe this is a good starting point: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/OpenMoko_on_HTC-Dream
are looking for something special or do you just want to do it?

well I've just order this phone and wondering where to start.
First how to modify? I was reading something about codes?
Second the what kind of software updates, performance mods.
Third cosmetic stuff.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, possible a list of stuff you guys would do to your touch out of the box.
Read everything you can get your hands on here and the other forums ... then read some more before you do any updates ... then do it really slow ... ad a few things then test ... add a few more ... test some more ... once you figure out what you will use and what you won't ... read some more before you ever consider flashing a rom ... just my two cents

yeah thats what i planned on attempting, but there is sooooo much info on these subjects, and it seems like you just get taken to another tread to another tread.
-so i guess if someone could give me a good first and second step of stuff to do. I think by then can handle it.
examples:
-does the touch come with windows pro. 6.1 straight out of the box or does it need to be upgraded?
-what about the Rev A upgrade I have been reading out?
-Then I was reading somewhere else or possible on a youtube video, a guy adding some software to make it run more efficiently.
so yup just some basic questions if guys could help out, thanks.

touch has 6.0. can be upgraded. for how to: look here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17473
there are plenty of 6.1 roms out there both here on xda and over at ppcgeeks.
become a member of ppcgeeks.com if you are not already, that is whats really going to help you. that is also where the youtube thing is. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=6623&highlight=youtube
rev a upgrade seems to not be coming out for the touch for at least another few months, but ppl will be going crazy enough that when it does, you will know for sure.
feel free to ask more questions
but the best thing you can do is to READ READ READ (and that is what everyone will tell you too lol (well mostly)).
good luck!

I saw another thread talking about this remote :

but then I wanted to know if there are any others out there, prefferably one with joysticks ? or something similar to a PS remote because I would like to play PS emulators on my HD2 if possible....
anyone have any ideas? I dont mind if it is blue tooth, or through a cable or something, just as long as it works... please lend me your ideas/thoughts on this topic...
bump please
this is prettymuch your only choice.

i really want one but dont want to spend the money.
seems like with all of these developers and talent that there would be something better than that out there doesnt it ?....maybe there is, but we have not heard of it ?...hopefully some others can shed some more light on this issue...
there is a program out there i forgot the name that lets you use one pda to remote control another pda over bluetooth if you would like that better.
i personally really want one of those msi gamepads but i have not been able to justify spending $30 on something i will probably play with for a day then never touch again.
I feel the same about the 30 thing...I cannot see it worth it, I know I may use it more than a day though, but man - $30????? wth it does not look worth that much.... haha, well I would rather use the MSI gamepad than another pda (I think)....
any ideas? I am sure if we try we can all get something different, or work on something ...but I know that is taking a long shot ...
what about this ? would this work ?

anyone know anything about the topic or the previous post?
I found this video:

Would that remote work on the HD2?
Okay, I assume the dev forum is the right place for this, since it would involve taking things apart.
I was wondering, for those of us who like Sense (don't hit me, to each his own), has anybody ever tried to seperate it from Android and port it to non HTC devices?
There are some great new things coming down the pipe, and I am not a developer, so I don't pretend to know if this is even remotely possible.
Just a wish of mine that maybe HTC would make it available in the Market for other devices to install.
Thanks for any contructive input,
Dennis

Wrong section and then some. Try the forum section for the non HTC phone you speak of.
I don't speak of any particular phone. I have an Incredible.
And I suspect that since Sense is only on HTC phones, somebody who works with them would have to do it, if it even can be done.
I was asking because I see other devices, like the new Samsung Tablet, that I would really like if they had Sense.
Of course if HTC came out with one, that would solve my problem anyway.

Back before I got the Incredible I was following a port to the Moto Droid of SenseUI. I don't know if they ever finished because there were HUGE hurdles that had to be overcome like the RIL. It was the zeusdroid team, you can try googling them to see if any of their work comes up. Like I said its quite possible they may have bagged it because it was such a big undertaking to create a new RIL from scratch.
So, I've been able to root and flash phones and figure a lot out on my own and with the help of other, but i always wanted to know exactly how to develop roms and apps for these phones or any phones.
I can follow instruction right now, but thats about all, i wanted to know if there was someone who was able to kinda give me a step by step or guide on how to do so.
Does it take a lot of learning? Do i need to take a class or something? C++? i really dont know but id like to know and would like to make something of my own, if possible. I dont really understand codes too well enough to even do the "hello world" tutorial on my own without the tutorial itself...
I'm interested in the ROM-building part too. I suggest Lithid's thread here and I learned a little here too on the Android site...
Hi everyone! So... While for my usage this is still a great device, I'm starting to be kind of fed up with the stock firmware. And apparently there has been no big developments on the ZE551ML. So, an horrible idea came to my mind. Why can't I compile an AOSP ROM myself? Altought I don't have any experience, I'm actually quite good with PCs and technology in general. And I'd like to give it a try. So, basically..... Is it possible? I don't want any particular thing, just a stock Google experience, preferibly on Oreo. I've found a lot of guides and also this https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B01AOKYCZY which should make it quite easy for me to at least try.
Is what I'm thinking possible or are we talking about something impossible? Also, is there some particular things I need to pay attention to for this device?
Please, be kind. I know that what I'm saying is basically "Hey everyone, noone has ever done something and I, without any experience, like to try it just cause I'm bored, can you give some advice?" but... I'd like to try!
Edit: or is there some online tool / VirtualBox preconfigured machine that's "ready to go"?
