Hello, I opened this thread just as a "container" thread for the little things and mods I'd like to do and I already did. It's not so much,... but a little is better then nothing .
Ok, let's start.

I use Max Manila 2.5.19202525 Ultimate 2.5, and like in the "older" versions I don't like the 4 notification icons. Don't get me wrong...I don't like the way they are undersized and flattened down, and not the icon style.
I digged a little into the file "7c60907d_manila" and I found out that the size of these icons is set to 60x55 pixels, but the original size of the notification icons is 64x64. This way it's obvious that the result will be a flattened icon.
I tried to start to design the icons from another "point of view", in a way that they have to be perfectly squared and not undersized, without any quality loss given by resizing. We also will have a quality loss because of the compression when importing the *.PNGs into the manila graphic files, but this is another story...
After many tries I found out that the real notification icon size should be 59x59 pixels, so this is what I did:
The image talk better then words....I designed an icon of 59x59 inside a 64x64 image canvas, leaving 5 transparent pixels to the right of the icon and 5 below.
Then I edited the mode9 file 7c60907d_manila setting the size of the notification icons at 64x64 (and no more 60x55) and realigning to X and Y positions, being sure that this way I will have perfectly squared and spaced icons (59x59) without no stratches or no undersizing and flattenings.
I hope you can understand me...
So I started to design for fun and pure passion some icon set you can see and download . The icons sets are mostly the same, but with little differences like the buttons borders, the glossy effect over the button, the corners more rounded and so on. I also added to the majority of the sets a little shadow of 1-2 pixel to give the icons a better smoothness and "depth".....these are the little things that makes the difference: probably you will not notice, but your eyes unconsciously will catch anything.

I had fun to design the "Dusk" sets, because I tried to figure out how grzegorz10 designed it's own set for Dusk Theme...LOL
George...I know that you would have done more beautiful, ehehehehe.
Inside each *.CAB there is also the file 7c60907d_manila with the corrected size and X/Y pos of the set.
Which I like most? I like Glossy3 and all Dusk Def sets....but I like also Noborder...
I tried to do these sets in many different ways to give you more choice, and to best fit your taste....hope you like it.

EDIT 17/11/2009:
Added CAB to restore original notification icons
Reserved for future use
Reserved for something...
Let me be the first to say -- Right On, Dude!!!
It's about time we got a bit of variety for the Ultimate notification/alert icons. No offense to g10 or max -- they are awesome -- but I've always though those default icons didn't do either of them justice. (oh, and bnm7bnm & djcedric have made some nice ones too, but it's great to have more choices)
Keep it up, Funk, these are excellent!
can you give us a cab with the original icons, so that if we don't like them, we can change back?

Hey, gwbard, nice to "see" you again
Thanks mate, but I know that g10 and max are the best...I'm sure that they gave not enough importance to the icons design because of much more important things to do like code fixes an so on. It's a luck for us if they think to the "engine"....you see, there is some other people that can provide nicer graphics like djcedric, ]bnm7bnm or me
Thanks again gwbard
@TeDev....
You're right, I will provide a cab to restore the original Max Manila Notification icons...just give me the time to do it

Added CAB to restore original notification icons on first post
hey thanks.
can i have one more request?
i love the noborder icons but... do you think you can make them almost transparent?
what i mean is...
they are there, but opacity is low , so that they won't look like they take too much space of the screen. the home tab will look cleaner and bigger. IF there is a notification like 1 or more messages then the message notification icon becomes 100% visible, if it doesn't have any new messages then it goes back to 20% visible (for example).
and this goes for the other 3 notification icons too.
i am guessing that this will be easy to be fixed.
i would be thankful
Excellent work dafunk! Adding it to my list of 2.5 bits...
nice icons...could you upload these wallpaper? thank
cheers from Chile
Thx mate!

1) I really like TeDeV's idea for transparency, but to add one more twist -- it's always been a pet-peeve of mine to have calendar icons with a number(date) on them, it find it distracting (unless it is the REAL date, which is a great feature in manila 2.5) -- if you could possibly create a no-border version with a blank calendar icon that would make my day!
2) I think it may benefit many of us if you put all the _manila files in a "MaxTTM\Components\..." format .zip file. that would be much more convenient than the individual .cab files.
Take your time, though, I know you're busy -- just a couple of suggestions in case you get bored in your spare time

Ah, the missing piece to the dusk theme. Thanks Bro!

Thanks
Just one thing: I'd prefer a white envelope for the mail.
How could I change it ?
Dafunk,
Just to say really nice icons, but FYI if you try to uninstall the icons it completely screws up maxycy theme, perhaps you can provide the files so we could install them using maxTTM, that way we can try it, if we like it...
Sorry for the multiquoting, but I could not answer quickly in the past two days, so....

Hope to have a little time this evening to do a Noborder set with "2 states" icons.

gwbard, can be easily done. You should ask to maxycy if you want the right number over the blank calender notification icon....I think it has to be coded into a LUA script and I'm not a good coder, sorry...I don't know where to start from; these are my very first attempts with manila files
But if you need a Noborder version with blank calender, I'll do it for you

As promised here's what I was able to come up with for a WM7 look theme, for our beloved Sliding Panels
If you want this look, install the .cab below. If you don't like it, uninstall the cab. Simple as that.
Any ideas for improvement are, of course, welcome!
p.s. The cab should prompt you to reboot after it installs. Please reboot to see the changes.
p.s.s Cab updated to include the prettier time icon shown in the screenshots.
Uploaded variations to the defaut cpanels. A light blue and a purple version. Install using the .cabs below and your panels will change colors after a reboot
CAB updated for better handling of appointments with a lot of text.

All I can say is wow what a beautiful look for the sliding panels. I got to this thread from your post in a thread in the Vox forum. Please make a Landscape/Portraite switching version for the Vox.
Roland
Wow, I like it. I hope you can make this portrait as well
.......................nice
I really like the sides, very very clean and sharp, I would use if they were clear panels.
also..
cant get my clock to look like yours, its a generic white clock.
I have red X for Myfaves icon-I dont know what happened but it is not there when I removed WM7 setting either- damn
my task bar looks like it always has not like yours
maybe ill reload it.
Sharp looking, it's even a hair better than some of what I've seen of WM7, in the drop shadows. Think it will find a way into Ricky's v.2x?
Oh sorry. Didn't realize not everybody has my custom clock icon in the windows directory. DOH! I will update the cab to include that .png in a few minutes.
I COULD make the panels clear. I was thinking of making them a little more "airy" and having a bolder backdrop effect, to simulate the effect of the panel gliding over the background.
Didnt have enough room to upload the centered cabs in the main post, so here they are. These will change the clock panel slightly, to center the operator name and the wifi networks, on the screen. Enjoy.

How to uninstall?
Uninstall the cab ?
I really like this .cab. It looks great on my phone. Thanks for your time.
The only thing I dont like is the clock face looks blurry on my phone. Do you know wherr I can find a better pic?
Again. Thanks for posting this..
I updated the cab in the first post to install the time icon from the screenshots. Please redownload and reinstall Thanks.
Sweet...thanks
is the background wallpaper available?
Sure... why not
Couldn't attach it directly as it's bigger than 20k, so I zipped it.
ack...shadow or this....ACK!!!!!
ARRRRRRRRRRGGHHHH ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
oh wait. do u know of any memory loss on this theme? cuz my regular sliding panels, i get noticeable memory loss. like when i reboot, i get like 20mb of free memory right, but maybe few hours later, 15mb free. and it would go down more during 2 or 3 days then i have to reboot to get it back up.
what u think? any1?
This is CHome with a different look... it's not really a theme. It's just Chome with a different look. So whatever "problems" you had with Chome, you'll have with this look as well. I reboot my phone at least once a day, you don't ?! And who cares if you go down to 15 megs, as long as you're not down to like 1-2.. you're fine.

After seeing various wallpapers with docks on G1's, I noticed how good they looked and how they made the phone simply seem more comfortable and nice. Since then, I have been looking for ways to add a dock to my own wallpapers, but I never knew how. After lots of experimenting, I have finally found out a way to add docks in a very simple way that would only take a few minutes. You will need the a program called GIMP, an advanced image editing program very close to Photoshop, except its free! An example is at the bottom of this post.

Download it here:http://www.gimp.org
I recommend that you have your G1 on hand and your wallpaper already in 640 x 480 format.
1. Open up GIMP, and drag and drop your picture into the GIMP window, it should now open up.
2. Click on the Rectangle Select Tool, in the top left corner of the toolbar.
3. Select a region about half an inch above the bottom of the picture that touches the left and right sides of the picture. It should look like a rectangle spanning the full length of your picture, make the rectangle about one inch thick. (This is assuming your picture is in 640 x 480 / VGA format) This rectangle will be where your dock will be.
4. On the toolbar, select the Blend tool, it looks like a square with the color black fading into white. Set Mode to Normal, Opacity to 20, Gradient to
Flare Sizefac 101, Offset to 10, Shape to Linear, Repeat to None, and check Dithering.
(NOTE: READ GUIDE PART 2 FOR EVEN MORE GRADIENTS, IT IS 2 POSTS DOWN.)
You are now ready to create your dock!
5. Using your hand, hold down the Ctr button on your keyboard (This will enable angle correction) and click near the bottom of the inside of the rectangle and draw the line to the top of the rectangle, try to stay inside the rectangle. Repeat this a few times until you have reached a dock with the gradient that you would like. If you are to mess up at all, GIMP has a history window which you can revert ANY actions you do. Alternatively, you can use Edit> Undo (action).
6. Hit Select in the window with your wallpaper and hit None. This will remove the rectangle, leaving only your gradient dock.
7. Hit File>Save, and save the wallpaper. Check the file extension to make sure the image is being saved in .jpg format, not .xcf. If it is in .xcf, simple erase that and change it to .jpg, you will receive a dialogue box asking to confirm your choice, hit Export. You will now have a final window with additional save options. Move the quality slider all the way to 100, and hit save to save the wallpaper.
8. Finally, transfer the wallpaper to your G1 and apply it. NOTE: Due to the G1's wallpaper compression, it is extremely likely that once the wallpaper has been applied, the wallpaper will have very poor quality. This is because the image was exported in 100% quality, and now Android is trying to compress it. In order to get around this, go to the Market and download and application called Wallpaper Set and Save. Using this program, re-apply your wallpaper. With that, it allows your wallpaper to not have to go under data compression, allowing very good image quality.
- Note, if the Dock doesn't seem to be in the right place, it is because you applied the gradient in the wrong place. Simply see where the icons are on your G1 and recreate your dock in the right location.
Tried this out? Questions? Wanna show off your wallpaper or something new you have discovered? Please, post! Sticky please?

Thanks! And I have screen shots up now, and will be continually updating this as I find more and more things to do. Right now im working on making a glass like transparent dock.
Guide Part 2
After fiddling around with GIMP. I have realized the potential of this program. However, for now, here are several new dock types possible! There are actually over 20 or so, the only limit is the amount of gradients GIMP has, which is really a lot. So here are a few of my favorite gradients that work as great wallpaper docks! In order to do these, the steps are pretty much identical as before, except you simply select a different gradient. The names of the gradients are below each of the pictures below. Also, for some gradients, you may simply need to drag the mouse up to down rather than down to up based on the way the gradient was set up. So here they are!
thats sick.. keep up the good work
I have used GIMP and it cant do all the things PSCS3 does,if you can use CS3 or better to make themes its much easier. There are also free apps that can be used to create grafix like paint.net which is the program i learned with. This gives a real basic knowledge of using tools.
Well, I tried to download the paint program you showed me, but all three download mirrors don't seem to be working. Do you have any suggestions on themes or designs or anything about GIMP that I don't know about that would help?
Well GIMP has great font designs to mess with, really if you want to learn photoshop i am setting up a site where i give tutorial videos on how to create themes for the G1 and icons ect...."give me time". But if you need advice a.s.a.p p.m me.
Haha im in no rush, its just Photoshop isn't available to me. As image editing isn't a big thing for me, I really can't afford to be buying that kind of advanced software

...and neither can anyone else
i don't actually know anyone who has bought a legal copy of Photoshop.
but anyway, GIMP is very limited compared to photoshop. just download the trail and see for yourself.
God. I tried using GIMP last night because I have linux on my laptop. I honestly don't see how anyone can use that software after using Photoshop for a while. Not only because it's more limited, but it just seems to be a million times less intuitive to use. It's like they went out of their way to make it completely different than photoshop... It took me almost an hour to figure out how to cut and paste a section of an image to a new layer. In photoshop it's literally select, copy, paste.
Oh, and if you feel like tweaking on a wallpaper template for photoshop, check out my signature. I need to fix it for when you use WSS with it though.
Well, actually, GIMP is able to open up the wallpaper template you have! (I actually tried it out a few days ago and to my surprise it actually opened) As to the others, I've really become accustomed to GIMP and find it relatively easy to use. I really can't compare it to Photoshop or anything, as I have never used that kind of advanced software- I've always been locked into freeware.
EDIT: I just looked up more information on Photoshop CS4... and it says:
Starting from: $699.00
That costs twice the amount of my computer, and over 4 times the amount of my G1. I made a vow to never download software illegally without paying for it, so I will just have to keep waiting.

So did I, but I gave up my vow for lent. In 1996.
I'm fairly certain that Adobe knows that the average person isn't paying $700 for photoshop and that they're pirating it. If they care about the person that uses it once or twice a month, they'd lower the price. Their target is schools and businesses who would never use pirated software for fear of being audited. (That's my justification... )
LOL nicee. Well, I just gave Paint.net a try (download servers were finally working today) And I feel that it is a pretty nice program, very stable and barebones - enough to get the job done. It doesn't have nearly as many features as GIMP. However, one caught my attention and that was the transparency gradient - which I am still playing around with.
I run a dual boot ubuntu/xp system and I have a very hard time using GIMP after first learning on photoshop the basics. But it is a good system if you don't have access to PS
Yeah, and as a user with fairly limited experience and not a lot of interest in image editing - just enough to get around- GIMP is all I will need for now Actually, I am taking Computer Graphics in next year in highschool, and we will be using Photoshop, so perhaps I will gain some interest there.
Hmm, is anyone here familiar with basic programming that would be able to write a program to automatically make these docks?
MOD EDIT: Please don't offer advice on where to find warez.
Thanks
Dave
If anyone has a Mac you can give Pixelmator a shot too. Like Photoshop but probably with more features you're more likely to use, and less features you're not.
I haven't used it (use Photoshop) but I've followed it's development for a while and it's looking really good.
Also: CHEAP!!! LOL. US$59
Blog - worth a quick read.
Rozenthal's guide on how to get high-quality wallpaper image on your Touch HD.
There have been many topics dealing with this issue, and I figured it was time someone made a guide with correct and precise instructions.
To complete this guide you will need to have at least moderate knowledge of Photoshop or similar advanced graphic software. You will also need your PC and some additional software.
However, I can confirm that the results are "as advertised" - full quality wallpaper image, without any visible image degradation.
Please note that I take no responsibility if you mess up something. I suggest you make backup folder with Manila files that need to be edited, so you can always go back to default if something isn't working. Also note that this guide deals with Manila2 (the new Manila from latest Topaz / Rhodium ROM's). The old Manila1 may be using different file names.
If all this seems too complicated, a simple way to improve image quality on your Touch HD is to use 512x512 pixel PNG wallpaper! Do not use 480x800! Use 512x512 and you will see it will be sharper and much better looking. Not perfect, but still better!

my head hurts!!! do you have an example to download and try?
maybe you can use this:
and what if u select an 696x480 pixel pic as background? will it still be compressed that much ?
You can imagine how much MY head hurt when I was trying to figure out all this... It wasn't easy, seriously
Also, if you use 480x696 the image will still be downsampled to 512 in height, compressed and then stretched to 480x696.
You have to remember that image CAN NOT be larger then 512x512 for TF3D to use it.
I will not be a gold-fish here, so please don't request me to make your own custom wallpapers. I spend a lot of time trying to figure it all out, and now I'm sharing my knowledge with other people, so they can learn it too - and have it all much easier then myself
But, here's an example of my own custom wallpaper.
Manila files are inside ZIP. Backup your old Manila files before copying these ones into Windows folder!
Overwrite old files, restart TF3D and set the wallpaper to display default wallpaper image.
One more example...
They're both dark and simple, but I prefer them that way They work 100% and they don't cause problems reading the SMS / Email / Today text.
You are in the true, Rozenthal.. best backgrounds are Black. I always use black themes like the example posted. Great, great tutorial! It´s a bit hard for me (and english too) but i´ll try to follow your instructions. Thanks a lot!
Frank
I know it's not simple... I warned you
But, it might get a lot simpler soon, because author of CFC GUI (Chainfire) has been working on a solution that would automatically slice wallpaper bitmaps into appropriate Manila files.
That would mean you would not have to know anything about Photoshop, you would not have to create 4 separate PNG files or anything similar. It would all be done by CFC GUI "automagically" - as Chainfire likes to say it
But, until that happens, this is the only way
great write up
i actually spent a whole day figuring this out myself, then i find this awesomeness
a great contribution to our community
thanks
arrgh, can´t quote ´cause the tut is a big image.. clever
well, nice tut but it is not working for me. i´m on panoshas black pearl 2.2 and replacing the manila files (used yours) just screws up my background.
So i guess my t3d version must be different ("New Manila v 3.1 panosha with landscape ").
it would be cool if you post for the old manila too ..
Thank you! You made my life much better.

This simply means that in your ROM these files are named differently.
The needed files are inside your Windows folder, so to figure out which ones are they, you'd have to copy ALL Manila files to your PC and use CFC GUI to check them and see what are the new file names. You won't have a hard time finding them, since there's not many images that are 512x512 / 512x256 pixels big.
The rest of the process is same as described.
Same thing goes for old Manila. The only difference with old Manila is that I'm not sure there are dedicated images for Landscape mode. Most likely there are only images for portrait, but as I said - I'm not sure. Someone with old Manila would have to check this out.

This is a much needed thread, thank you for starting it! I'm afraid it is a little to late for me though as I'm using Dutty's v2.6 xtreme rom with the new manila. It would be awesome if Chainfire makes his tool compatible with the new manila. I would definitely send a donation his way for the CFC GUI tool so I can finely "automagically" have a beautiful personal wallpaper!
Any idea when his new tool will be available?
Is it possible for those which have tried this and confirmed that it worked successfully to post their work up here too? So others that like the same background can enjoy them as wel.
after copying in my windows directory the files that rozenthal was so generous to share (after making a back-up) i can confirm that the gray tiles looks fine in my all tabs. i can not say that now i have a high resolution back ground because the image is gray and the tiles are very, very small. just kiddin'....the tiles are only a few pixels so it is easy to see that YES, i have a high resolution image in all my back grounds. i guess the same image without being killed, sliced and being revived should look awful.
there is a small bug: if u are looking closely you can notice that my lower band (Bottom Curtain) is transparent and the background image is not "stretching" to the that part of my screen. this is certanly not rozenthal's fault, this is because me tweaking the mannila. i don't think that covering that part of the screen should be a problem.
now go back and release the finger keyboard 2.1 rozenthal! enough playing!
I use your tuto, and all tab is OK, except for home tab, I have a white background !!!
I use dutty 2.6, and analog + flip clock from Max TF3D Theme Maker on home !
Hi there!
I was so happy while reading your Tutorial, because i allways searched for a solution for the blurry Backgrounds in TF3D. I tried all the steps but my result looks like the attached Screenshot. You will recognize a small grey line where the two parts of the background come together.
Is this a other Manilla part which overlays the Background? Because the files should be OK, i checked twice that no pixelline is missing.
Any Ideas?
(the pngs that i used for the manilla files are in the Zip-File)

Hello Borbosch,
the issue you describe is the last thing we have yet to figure out. Chainfire is working on solving this. If it makes you feel any better, I had the same issue on some of my wallpapers as well.
I assumed it was aligning issue, but yesterday night Chainfire said it was not problem in bitmap aligning but rather something else. I have a feeling it might have something to do with compression, but we'll know soon enough, and hopefully provide a solution.

Did you revert the wallpaper to default in Settings tab > Wallpaper?
Perhaps it is just me, but every time I go into the email app I am always bothered by the colours of it. It is actually physically painfully white at night - going from a dark themed homescreen to a pure white screen. Finally, I had enough of this and decided to fix it.
We've known the registry values for themes for quite some time and people have performed keyboard colour changes and a background colours, but I've never really modified much other than that. After playing with different theme colours for over an hour I decided I really just wanted my email app to match messaging.
WP7 uses the light theme for email, even when the rest of your phone is using the dark theme.
This is rather obnoxious.
I decided I was going to record the values of the individual themes and document their effects - this is so I can always revert to normal - and I figured these values could be helpful to others for creating their own themes.
Here are the keys I played with and their default values:
Local Machine / Control Panel / Themes / [O for Light / 1 for Dark]
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
By mapping all the dark theme values to the light one - we can have a dark themed email app to match the rest of your dark themed phone
Yes - I realize that mapping both themes to Black eliminates the point of having 2 themes - but this way your email app matches your dark theme - which is what I wanted.
I played with a series of other theme colours and could never find one I particularly liked.
So play with it and post your results, I'd love to see some cool themes that actually look nice.
Note:
You must have a way of editing the registry on your device to do this - personally I use WP7 Root Tools 0.7 Alpha, but you can use whatever method you prefer. For Nodo+ devices this means you'll also need Interop Unlock, but if you have a way of editing the registry you probably already have this.
Don't ask how to edit the registry here - there are already many threads for that.
We can go on and on about how this is better for AMOLED screens but not helpful to LCDs and all that jazz, but honestly, I just want my the applications on my phone to match and not blind me at night.
ok so this is great.... but how do I fix office? the double dark theme messes it all up cuz the office background stays white. Like where is the background image stored and can it be edited?

Great find - I didn't even notice that.
These are really just for reference - I imagine it may be possible at some time to change that actual background picture - but until then if you map the black theme colours to white you'll need to tone down the text colour.
The text is chosen by ContrastColor - so you can tone that down to a light grey if you want - I went with #ff383838 just to see it.
Keep in mind - there is also transparency that is going on with a lot of these default values.
Yeah, everything is perfect aside from Office. I also changed all the image values from thier 'light' version to the 'dark' (like 'ButtonBackground' for example) I just wish I could fix the Office background.
EDIT: Anyone know how to remove Office from the app list? I hardly/never use it and since it's all messed up I'd like to know if it is possible to remove it from the app list? I'm super anal about these things.
With that mod Office is wrong Background hides the content.

Yep, I had to change it back. I'm gonna see if there is some registry value we can change to just get email to use the dark theme.
Hi,
I just realized the problem you solved for yourself, but i think there must be a key what tells email app, wich theme to use, don't you think?
I wil start search for it, but i do not have the time for it for a few days now.
really nice!
could someone boil this into an xap and/or setting?
I found a reg key that is interesting.
HCU\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Main\UseThemes = 1
I made chromecolor transparent in dark theme to find out it it uses a theme in real and it uses the current theme.
Next is to find out what happens if is et it to 0.

I havent noticed a thing... i'm gonna try adding that value to "Email' and see what happens.
EDIT: and... nothing happens when the key is added under 'Email'
I have runned into a little problem.
I messed around with the white and black themes but decided to take it back to the original hex codes. So I found this topic and matched the hexes on my phone but there are still som missmatching colors more in particular in two spots in the phone.
Now, I have now idea what these areas are called in the registry and I dont know if they're the same.
If someone have any idea at all please tell me!
Where is the office file
man... I have just spent the last 2 hours meticulously going through every picture file (png, jpg, etc...) on my phone using WPDM and I found no file that contained the OFFICE BACKGROUND...
I have to think that this would possibly be defined in one of the executables for office contained within the phone as the image itself does not seem to be a separate file... It may also be defined through some of the OFFICE UI files (.dll and .mui files) also within the /WINDOWS folder...
I am posting this so you guys know this has been done and dont waste hours of your life looking for image files... We have to go past that... (Past quamtum physics... j/k jejeje)
Well, that was a waste of time... jejeje

The Office background is stored in a .dll sorry to say. The only way to fix it is to use a custom ROM.
The office background image is stored in officeres.262.dll.
You only can edit it with a resource editor, on a running device this isn´t possible... => cook a custom rom
Edit:
OMNIA 7 owners can use the full-skinned mi7ROM from mirolg (skinned by me), I´m able to update the officeres.262.dll with cabsender if needed... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574431

Yeah, you have to do what I did on my contable skinned ROM and change the light theme to a dark one. Then you can use office with a modded dark background.

Please send me a .rgu and the modded office background...
Here is my dark office background...
I had to edit the ShellServices rgu (C5F302AF-97F8-42B0-A119-8FFC5433D02D.rgu) to replace the default Light theme (0) basically you can just replace all the Light theme values with the copies of the Dark theme values and you will be fine. I used my own 'Night' theme for my ROM. Also if you want it I can give you the office background I made but all I did was a flood fill of black, nothing special.
Thx. I will check it and create an Update cab for the mi7ROM...

To start things off, this is going to be my first tutorial on making a theme. This is actually my first theme I've really made. To be honest, I was actually quite surprised at how many people were interested in my theme and how I created it. Since I had quite a bit of response to it, and people wanting to create theirs, I decided to create a tutorial so that anyone could either copy what I did, or use my idea as a base to create their own unique theme. Before I get started, I would like to thank Deusex74 for creating the theme that inspired me to create my own. So without much further ado, let's begin the tutorial! =)
Apps needed:
Weather: Eye In The Sky
Home Calendar: Jorte
Church Calendar: Simple Calendar
Clocks: Zooper
Launcher: Apex Launcher or Nova Launcher, or any other launcher that will allow you to resize the grid, and have shortcuts that will allow you to go to certain pages.
Icons: Desktop VisualizeR
Wallpaper: MultiPicture Live Wallpaper
Programs:
Photoshop, or something similar would be great. I guess you could also make this in paint, but the editing program is up to you.
First thing I did was decide on how many spaces would be in my grid to fit everything I wanted and not look too crowded. I created an empty screen, removed the dock, and took an icon and placed it on the screen. After holding it, a grid with crosshairs pop up, once that popped up, I took a screen shot.
Next step is to take that screenshot and open it in Photoshop. You then have the correct resolution for the screen, and the grid for the layout. Open the rulers (Cmd+R or Ctrl+R), and drag out guideline from the ruler to each of the cross hairs. Once it's completed, it should look like this.
You now have the basic grid on how icons will fit on your screen.
From here, you can choose how big you want the picture to be to fit on the screen. After determining that, and placing it on your screen, it should look like this:.
Determine how many tabs you want, and how big you want them to be. For me, I wanted only 3 tabs to have 3 pages. If you want more, you might need to tweak the amount of your grid size so that the icons you will use to direct to each page, will fit. Remember, we still need to have icons that will direct you to the right page.
So since I only had 3 tabs, I wanted to make the home tab the largest and in the center, taking up 3 spaces, while the others only took 2 spaces.
After setting those up and creating your dividers, you can create the colored bar to span across the page just above your tabs. It should now look like this with the guide lines turned off
That's all there is to making your first page. After that, just copy that and repeat for your next pages. Your layout should look like this when completed with the layers all the same for each page.
Save your wallpapers as a png for a higher quality image.
Now, unless you want to create your own icons, you're done with Photoshop and on the computer. You can skip down below on how to make it work on your tablet.
If you want icons, it's quite simple. Since you already have the grid and guide line in place, you already know how big each icon will be. With your guide lines turned on, take your marquee tool
and draw out the square indicating how big one icon will be. You will need to create at least one of these in this size to create a blank icon.
After selecting this shape, fill it with a color on a new layer. It doesn't matter the color. After filling it, copy it (Cmd+C or Ctrl+C). Go to file and create a new file with your clipboard as your preset. Then change the resolution to 150, just so it can look cleaner on a higher res screen. Your height and width may vary depending on your grid size you set up in the beginning.
With this new file, you can create your icons. You can either find pictures, create icons with Illustrator or any other vector based program. The first thing we will make though, is your blank icon. This blank icon will go over the tabs we created on your homescreen which will act as screen shortcuts. So what you will do is simply turn off the layer(s) so that nothing is on, and you will see a checker board indicating that it is transparent.
Save as a png since jpgs aren't able to save transparencies.
After you are done with your icons, you are finished with your computer, and now we move to the tablet. Of course, make sure you transfer all your pictures to your tablet, via usb, Google Drive, or whatever you choose.
Tablet:
When saving these images onto your tablet, there's kind of a special way on how and where to save them. Create a folder named misaClean Theme in the root folder if your internal memory. In that folder, you will create several folders. First folder you will create is Wallpapers. Within the wallpapers folder, you will create several folders for each tab you want. So for example, for mine, within the Wallpapers folder, I created a folder named Church, Home, and Media. Within these folders, you will insert the corresponding wallpaper you created. Be sure that no other picture is insider there besides the wallpaper for that page.
*After saving the wallpaper, be sure to crop out the area where the Home, Back, and Multi tab are using the default gallery. When cropping, on the bottom left, you'll see a box that says Original. Press there and be sure to press on None so that there are no cropping dimensions when cropping your wallpaper. You want to make sure you crop out just the wallpaper. So if you had an area for the nav-bar buttons, and the notification panel, be sure to crop that, so that all you have left is just the wallpaper you created.*
Go to your home screen and for wallpaper, click on Live Wallpapers. Choose MultiPicture Live Wallpaper, and click settings. Here you will see Common settings and Screen 1 settings and Add individual settings. Go ahead and add more individual screen settings depending on how many tabs you created. Screen 1 will be your leftmost screen. Even if you want your main page to be something in the center or right, so keep that in mind when setting up which wallpaper will be on each screen.
Click on Screen 1 settings.
Click on Picture source, then click on Picture Folder. (I guess you could also use Single Picture, but for some reason, I had problems, so that's the reason why I'm doing it this way)
Click on Folder Path at the top
Locate where the wallpaper folder is, and press OK.
Repeat for the next screens.
After you are done setting up your wallpaper, set it up as your wallpaper. Now you can go ahead and place all your icons/widgets on your page. Over the tabs you created, I'm not sure if other launchers have this capability, long press and click "Apex Actions." Down at the bottom, you will see Screen 1, 2, etc.
Place those shortcuts over each of the tabs indicating which shortcut goes to which page. It should now look something like this:
Now, it looks a little messy. This is the reason why we created those blank icons. Long press on each of the icons, and press edit. Click on the icon, and replace it with the blank one you created. Repeat that for all the icons.
When you're done, it should look nice and clean, and when you click over each tab, it should direct you to the corresponding page. You now completed the the tutorial, and have a nice clean theme for your home screen. Hope you enjoyed that tutorial.

Thanks for the guide.
I tried something similar in the past, but not as detailed as you posted.
I mostly arranged my screens with the icons and widgets I wanted to use, made a screenschot of that and used this as a background layer with 30% opacity. Then tried to fit the rest together ^_^
Just out of curiosity. What transmission effect are you using?

That sounds like an interesting thing. Do you have any pictures of what that looks like? I'd like to see how that was accomplished.
As for the transitions, I'm uploading a video to YouTube so you can see. For Apex, I am using the Scale effect with no infinite scrolling, and for the MultiPicture Live Wallpaper, I am using the 3D Slide.

Well I don't think it's very interesting as it sounds.
I basically skipped the part with the grid and used my screenshot as pseudo grid.
Then I started to arrange the images I wanted to use. With the Background I could always crosscheck if everything was in order.
I also used the dockbar to jump to several pages.
So I was able to add more pages without altering the background.
As I said it was the lazy way to create an Background with several pages
For the labels in the dockbar I later used "Simple Text-Text Icon Creator" from the market.

If you download my psd, you should be able to just turn on the guidelines under the view menu and select view guidelines. Either that or you can just save the pic I have with the guidelines on the tutorial and create the guidelines. Using my screen shot as a template.

There are several things you could check. I'm not too familiar with Nova if they have the same settings, but in Apex, if you go to the Apex settings and under home screen settings, you can mess around with the minimum scrolling time, and transition effects. I have mine set at 0 and effect is scale.
For the multi picture wallpaper app, my transition type is 3d slide. I don't see anything here for speed.
And last, if you go to your settings, and down to developer options, you can adjust the transition animation scale as well as the others. You can mess with those until you come up with the right speed you like. Mine is just set to 1x on all 3 of them (window, transition, and animator).

That are the exact settings i used (running Apex) but transitions looks really ugly here...may be its because i use some more screens than only 3. So Apex has to jump from page 2 to 6 for example. Never mind, i will try harder to get a solution! ;o))
Thanx for giving me some inspiration and for your help of course!

How did you create the icons on the media tab?

Yea, having more pages might make things want to move quicker, therefore not really showing much of the animation. If you slow down the animations, you might be able to see them flow a little more. But then again, reaching to another page, might take a while, and make it seem like your tablet's running a little slow. Glad to have helped!

For those icons, it's very similar to the Windows 7 icons others have posted in the past. To do them, I used the same grid that I set up for the wallpaper, and used the marquee tool to select the amount of space I wanted my icon to take up. After selecting it, I filled it with a random color, copied it, opened up a new file using the clipboard preset, and pasted the picture I wanted to represent that app. After creating the image for the icon, and saving it to my tablet, I used Desktop VisualizeR to create the icon.
For example, if I made my image to be 1x3, I used the 1x3 template in DVR. From there you click on the "Select Icon" and locate the image you created. For "Select Action," you choose the corresponding app. If you want a label to go with your icon, you can leave it in, or rename it. Choose your colors for the text and the background, and the touch effect, and you should be good. Click "OK" and you're done.
NICE

Hello guys,
Thanks for this tutorial it's huge!!!!
I've made my own theme but i only have one problem left
I use 3 screen the default one (number 2, the one in the middle ) is OK, but when i scroll let or right (it's the same) i see my other wallpapers but they seems to be part of the screen number too because in the screen 1 and 3 i only have black wallpapers It looks like the size is not good or something like that....
I don't know where can be the problem.... The size of the wallpaper? Parameters in Apex (i've selected Multi screen with scrolling and i use a 10x7 grid) ? Parameteres in Multiple pictures (I've selected "fit to fullscreen" for every screen)?
Is there someone who can help me? Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
I've found the solution if it can help someone
